A local establishment. Service was good. Honestly, we really didn't have the house specials to give a fair review. I had a Chefs Salad and my wife had Baked Ravioli. The food was good. We walked around town and honestly, there are not a lot of food choices.

Nice place near the BOS Center. Our waitress was Payton and she was fantastic: her demeanor, her attentiveness, and overall service. The food was delicious and prices were fair. I had the baked lasagna and there was so much cheese - loved it. Our table also ordered the Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo and the Spinach Alfredo. Both delicious and plentiful. I would recommend this place if you ever visit Springfield.

We loved Saputo's!! I'm SO glad we didn't heed Mary K's lame review. I don't think she ate at the same restaurant we did. They do have a basket of crackers, but that wasn't the bread basket we were brought. We were served bread twice in a basket that resembled the basket, the crackers were in. Some people are just never happy with anything. On to our fantastic experience at Saputo's. Our wonderful server was Vanessa. I hope you have the pleasure of meeting her. I asked for a salad with extra dressing and I got it! Wow! This most certainly was not a dry salad. We enjoyed some complementary bread and butter before our entrées arrived. My wife ordered the spinach Alfredo with chicken. I had the lasagna with two meatballs on top. Vanessa suggested that I mix the meat sauce and spicy marinara. That was an unbelievably excellent combination! There's a reason this place has been a local favorite since 1948. It was one of the most enjoyable Italian restaurants we have ever experienced. Food and service are five stars all the way. We cannot wait to return. We do not have an Italian place this good at home, in Kansas City.

During our recent stay at the Abraham Lincoln Hotel for a convention, we decided to try Saputo's Italian Restaurant, which is just a short walk away. You really can't miss it, the brick building with a large neon sign stands out nicely. We arrived on a Saturday evening just before the dinner rush without a reservation. While we were seated right away, I'd definitely recommend making reservations if you plan to come on a weekend night, as it fills up quickly. The interior has that classic old-school Italian vibe, exactly what we were hoping for on a cozy Saturday dinner. My husband ordered the baked lasagna with Italian sausage, and I had the baked ravioli made in-house, served with Italian meatballs. We started with bruschetta, which was a great choice to kick off the meal. Our meals came with a simple house salad of lettuce and tomatoes with a choice of dressing. When the main courses arrived, fresh sliced bread and butter were served....a lovely, authentic touch. Our server was extremely friendly and attentive throughout our visit. The food reminded us of classic "Ma and Pa" Italian cooking, hearty, comforting, and satisfying. Overall, we really enjoyed our meal and would happily return if we're in Springfield again.

Amazing place. At twice same day it was so good. Pizza crust was thin and crispy. Great find in Springfield!

Decorations were so cute and at 5:30pm, they were already packed with a long line out the door! One of the best seafood we had in a while. Expect long wait but oh so worth it! Yum!

I particularly liked the cheesy and nicely packed Crabmeat Stuffed Shrimp and crispy-topped Shrimp de Jonghe. Next up, New England Clam Chowder was real thick and creamy. And a Garden Salad was tasty with a lot of shredded cheese on top and a vibrant Raspberry Vinaigrette Dressing. I also enjoyed my entree of Broiled Salmon and Au Gratin Potatoes. But it seemed like an odd combination. Others at my table of 10 ordered Fried Lobster Tails, Fried Shrimp, The Captain's Platter, Snow Crab Leg Clusters and Fettuccine Alfredo. Our principal server, Marlene R., did an excellent job of coordinating ordered food items with their corresponding diners. Food portions were large. So no one ordered dessert. We said our several goodbyes, and everyone appered to go home happy. Certainly, we all left the restaurant well fed.

I believe the owner (or possibly the chef) stopped by and made sure everything was up to par as well. I honestly thought it was going to be a much smaller space as when I'd driven by it looked small, but there was so much seating inside! The decor was beautiful, too, and the music was awesome. We both had chicken and waffles and my LORD it was so good! The waffles were so crispy and flavorful (I've seriously never had waffles so good in my life) and the chicken was breaded well, perfectly seasoned, and was super fresh. I'm pretty picky about sweet tea. If Wilford Brimley doesn't side eye me with serious concern as I drink it then don't even bother. This was so perfectly southern sweet I was in heaven. Sweetest sweet tea I've had in Illinois. I'd go back for that alone even if the food was just okay. We had decided on fried green tomatoes (which were soooooo dang good and zesty!) when she told us they JUST got fried okra and I said both. Just give us both. I'm a fried okra fiend and was so happy I could've cried. The okra was fresh and perfectly crispy, and the seasonings, again, were immaculate. Absolutely cannot wait to go back. (I just need to give my stomach a lil rest, we both took home over half of our meal there was so much.)

Hayden let me taste the Sauvignon Blanc on happy hour and while it wasn't unenjoyble, I went with the non-happy hour Reisling for the win, which was delicious! Coastal Hour Crispy Rock Shrimp as an appetizer, which is about 1/2 the dinner size and perfect as a starter or even as a meal with a soup or salad. Really nice breading on the shrimp, not too thick. Good flavor on the sauce, not spicy. For the entree, Louisiana style Halibut with Crawfish and Cajun Sauce, Mashed Potatoes and Asparagus. The plate comes out piping hot, please don't touch. I even had to cool off each bite of food. Well balanced flavors, cooked perfectly. No room for dessert, so I settled on the Smores Martini which was an amazing dessert choice. Thing #2, this is a ONE-MAN OPERATION. Yup, he's the waiter, the prep-cook, the chef, the front-end manager AND the 'cashier'. At least that's the deal on Thursdays when we typically go. Ultimately, the first point works in your favor, cuz with a little forethought, a small cooler and your favorite beverage, you will likely save you and yours at least $10. As for the second premise, our suggestion is to ask for timeframes early and often...then get comfy and DOUBLE those estimates. Hopefully your company (and/or your phone) will make the time disappear without notice, because it'll honnestly be a bit. Wes is a very busy man...and he tends to tell you what you wanna hear - the only things actually preventing a fifth Yelp star. Just know that the chances are quite good that it will have been well worth the wait. Mac-N-Cheese, killer. Steaks, juicily executed extremely well. Combinations of proteins always seem to mesh well, even in something as simple as a wrap. And just when you think you understand what it is that he does really well, he throws a chicken and waffle dish that blows away anything else in town, possibly any other such attempt at this iconic southern dish. (Pro tip, try a side of jerk sauce or BYO Tobasco.) Perhaps he has assistance on the weekends - one would hope so anyway, but this place definitely makes us appreciate hard work, good times and outstanding cooking. Great take out game too!
