Cool pizzeria just a few blocks away from the A and C trains. They have plenty of seats, but without a reservation you'll have to wait... a lot, especially on weekend nights. They do accept reservations for 6+ people. The place is kinda funky, with separate seating areas and a kind-in-the-way restroom location. I went with a group of 5 and ordered their house wine: 1L of very good red for only $29. A must. Cauliflower: pretty good, but nothing out of the ordinary. Fritto misto: like the way it should be... juicy and crunchy at the same time. Pizza Special: the best pizza of the night; the concoction of flavors was delicious. Pizza Coppa e Carciofi: also very good. Winter ortolana: not as flavorful. Sheep's milk ricotta cheesecake: very original and tasty. Tiramisu: the dessert itself was good, but it wasn't a real tiramisu...there was way too much cream and too few biscotti; the cream wasn't eggy enough. Overall, the place is pretty solid. They tend to overcook the dough - which comes a little burned on almost every pizza - but the texture is good. The service is attentive (Giacomo was great). I would totally go back. read more

I went to Saraghina a few days ago and had a good dining experience. The ambiance is nice, especially outside in the patio. The servers were nice and attentive, although no one came to asked how our food was or if we needed anything else. The waiting time was decent, we didn't have to wait at all to be seated, and did not wait too long for our food. (Although, when we left the entire restaurant was full and there were people waiting by the bar for a table). The food: the pasta had really good taste, although it was a bit too greasy and that can put off people who don't usually go for too much oil. My husband said his Margherita pizza was good; nothing out of this world, but it was good. I felt the menu was lacking a bit in variety, but we may probably come back again to try something else. read more

I haven't dined in for quite sometime and this review is only for the many times I continued to give them a shot via delivery. What I remember from dining in was a hectic and very loud ambiance with me rushing to eat and leave. I've been doing more delivery since I dont care for the dinning experience but the quality, pre and "post" pandemic, increased in more misses than hits. The pasta dishes have been very minimal in quantity (less than what fits in the smallest size of those pasta portion devices) and heavy in oil. The former was improperly "creamy" (not from cream but from melted emulsified parm/pec) and too salty. Pepper also failed to come through over the cheese Pizza was perfectly cooked and dough was fantastic (probably 65%+ hydration), but the level of anchovy and kalamata absolutely devastated the natural and simple flavors of the mozz, tomato and dough. Saraghina is one of my favorite spots in Brooklyn. The garden is beautiful especially during summer. Great date spot, super romantic and has a good energy. The Sicilian Ahi tuna is actually ridiculous, like dumb good. I ordered 3 plates of it because it's an appetizer size but seriously I am thinking about it as we speak. I just want them to make it a main course honestly. whatever anyway. Their bread is freshly baked in-house, and honestly everything on the menu is amazing. This has become a favorite spot of my wife and I. We frequent here from a suggestion from my friend. Place is always packed but there is literally always room for us. Which is to say they have a waiting area for you to get a drink or some appetizers (usually the patatas braavas) while you wait for your table. Everyone that works there is in good spirits and extremely helpful and knowledgeable. We usually get a copacolla pizza and a coke, which has become a go to after playing around with different pizza options. Served hot and ready to be consumed ( no reference to little caesars at all.) We've been here so often we look at the seats we have not sat at yet. Whenever we need a good pizza fix. All we do is make eye contact and we are off to this establishment. Good service goes a long way and when you have good food to go with it, you get loyalty and great memories. read more

This is one of my local favorites. There's usually a wait if you're trying to get a table around prime dinner time. They have a nice garden with lots of seating and outdoor seating curbside during covid times. The vegetables are always delicious. My favorites are the pea leaves and brussel sprouts. Their pizzas are fantastic and are a little larger than individual size. If I get a pizza, I'll usually share a side of pasta and a side of veggies. Little did I know, I live near one of the most popular restaurants in BedStuy. People from all over the city apparently come out here just to try Saraghina. Indeed, it is a gem. When people visit me (back when that was allowed), I usually take them here because everyone loves pizza and there's something for everyone. I'm usually a strict carnivore in this area, but their seasonal squash veggie pizza is really good. My usual order flips includes something with salsiccia or hot coppa. And if pizza isn't your jam (surely a rarity), they have good entrees as well. The lamb ragu lasagna is delicious and goes quickly. The fried calamari is a staple in my orders. It usually includes shrimp and pieces of fish, but since covid the order seems to be strictly calamari. I'm hoping that eventually those components can make a return. Also worth mentioning, while not available right now, they have an awesome happy hour in the bar. Oh! Last thing, there's a gelato cart! I can't speak to how good it is, but I trust them. Try to get the waiter's attention- ok, done but that took a while. Order something simple from the menu, scrambled egg and avocado: out of avocado. My wife tried a combo from the menu, eggs, salmon and toast. Ok I end up with one dry, crumbled egg on s plate, and a latte served in a tumbler - really poor. This made the pizza not at all enjoyable, especially on a cold rainy day like today when you just want something warm. Of course I have a brunch to do list! When it comes to brunch my older brother is my partner in crime. Last Saturday he let me pick wherever I wanted. I wasn't constricted by the Williamsburg borders. Saraghina has been on the top of my list and now that I live above Bed-Stuy it would only be a 20 minute commute. I got some compliments from the old men sitting outside on my way over.... very interesting atmosphere in Bed-Stuy. The first spot I saw was the attached bakery. And then I saw the stunning artwork from Brooklynite Shantell Martin! As I turned the corner I saw my brother. The place is huge with large room by the entrance, a medium room in the back, two bar rooms and a patio. Yes, this place is great for large parties or intimate dinners. To avoid crowds and still be able to people watch, we stayed at the bar. The space itself is stunning. There is old world charm, cool vintage knick knacks later throughout the restaurant, plenty of natural light and white washed walls. I could easily make this my Saturday routine. The bartender Chris had already been entertaining my brother with libations. I ordered Counter Culture coffee and some water. After looking over the menu, the Italaliano Margarita was a must in my book. I love a balance of sweet, spicy and tart. The menu had more options than I imagined. The po boy was calling my name but the bartender convinced me to give the special a chance. I'm a carb lover and the bread is the highlight of the dish. Saraghina is very much well known for their bread. "Rospo nel Nesto" which is their version of egg in the hole. Their freshly made thick multigrain Pullman bread has a egg and mustard greens cooked inside the wood burning stove and drizzled with a mustard greens aioli. When I received the dish it looked like a Jackson Pollock painting and tasted incredible. Everything was perfectly cooked. I was more than happy with the bartender's suggestion. I almost forgot to mention our brunch amuse bouche was the sticky bun. They have tons of treats taunting you beneath mesh baskets on cake stands. It was the right amount of sticky and soft and crispness. The Bloody Mary my brother ordered was not my favorite. The oregano was too reminiscent of tomato sauce for my liking but it still went down the hatch. When I heard that an artisanal pizza place just opened in my neighborhood, I got very excited. I'm from Italy, and I am very demanding (paranoid...?) when it comes to pizza, a food I love. Alas, the place is a bit of a letdown... The place itself is beautiful: nice and simple, wooden tables, large old signs on the walls. Unassuming, but with some nice discreet touches. The patrons who were there last night definitely don't look at all like my Bed-Stuy neighbors. Although there is no A/C, it didn't feel that hot, perhaps because we went there on a rainy night. The pizza menu offers marinara, margherita, ortolano, capocollo, prosciutto e funghi, and bufala. After eating some olives, VH and I tried the ortolano (i.e. with vegetables: zucchini and eggplant) pizza. The pizza is a 12" pie which is fine for two. The dough is excellent: thin, crisp, and crusty, nicely charred. A winner! Unfortunately the sauce was too liquid, which resulted in a soggy pizza. The cheese on the pizza was also not completely melted. By the way, the basil tastes better if it is put fresh on the pizza, after the pizza has been in the oven, not cooked at 700 degrees. Burnt basil tastes like burnt paper. The verdict: their pizza needs a lot of work... We then tried the baked clams, which were good: a solid, if not particularly inventive, dish. The dessert menu is very underwhelming: tiramisu' and a choice of ice cream. We passed. Service was friendly but somewhat erratic; they had a lot of people for a rainy Wednesday night and were perhaps a bit overwhelmed. The place has potential, and it definitely deserves support (in a neighborhood dominated by fast food joints, Saraghina is a much needed breath of fresh air). I may give it another try in a few months; hopefully they'll get their act together by then. read more

I've been a supporter of Saraghina since they opened, but the experience I had last night was ridiculous. We placed our typical order -- several pizzas and appetizers at 7:13 and were told to come at 7:47. We walked over in 40 degree weather only to be greeted by a crowd of 30+ people waiting for their food and didn't leave with our food til 8:30. Look I get that yall are busy and maybe didn't expect the influx of orders at taht time, but you had to have some idea our order would take longer than the time you gave, given how many people were waiting when I arrived If you told me to just show up at 830, I would've been cool with it since I wanted Saraghina pizza. When I got home with the food, only my pizza was warm-- all the appetizers were cold. We spent too much in money, time, and comfort for cold ass food. And still... I might not have been annoyed enough to write a review. What was actually more troubling is how unorganized they were. There was no system or person telling folks who got there how they could or should check for their order so the crowd just grew and got more restless. The person who was yelling out names was barely audible through the crowd and little effort was made to resolve it. It was up to the crowd to telephone names around. The worst though is during COVID, because their lack of organization and the cold weather people were packed on the sidewalk waiting for food (mostly masked up) but NOWHERE near 6 ft apart. They had no crowd control. On top of all this LOL there was no crowd control on the street, and people who were coming to pickup in cars double parked or blocked the bus stop on Halsey and on Lewis. In my 30 minutes there three fights almost broke out because people were just annoyed as hell. As a local community restaurant who serves the community, y'all gotta do better. You can't just run your business during Covid and have no order. You can't just have your customers block up local thoroughfares on a Friday night (including public busses). At one point a bus was stuck and honking in front of the restaurant for 10 minutes and a customer picking up had to go on the street to direct traffic and clear it. Unacceptable as read more

Came in tonight for dinner. We got seated in 20 minutes which was pretty quick considering the wait was 45 minutes tonight. We got the brussel sprouts to start. They were cooked well and were crispy with almost like a balsamic glaze. I enjoyed it. We got an arrabiata pasta which was sweet, spicy, and had a little acidic kick. The flavor was great and the cherry tomatoes on it were wonderful. The pasta though was a bit tough. It probably could've been cooked a little longer to be al dente. We also got a truffle pizza. It was garlicky and the mushroom toppings were generous. It could've done with a bit more white sauce, but the ingredients on it were great. I sat outdoors and although a beautiful space, the cars in nyc can be unforgivingly loud at times. If you value your eardrums, sit inside lol. Overall, I enjoyed my meal, but I think I still need some more convincing. Would definitely check it out if you're an Italian food fan. read more

Once I found out about this awesome restaurant that was 2 blocks from my apartment, I went twice in a week. Their brunch and pizzas are mouthwatering. Ricotta Pancakes: These pancakes were crispy. Weird, right? But they were so delicious. I was sad that I was sharing them with a few friends. While being crispy, they're still soft and scrumptious without being too sweet. Plus you don't need syrup for these bad boys. Fried Apples: A must order when you go. They're under appetizers/brunch but they make a great dessert. I call them apple churros. Kids will love these too! Norwegian Benedict: Best combination of an eggs benedict, salad, bread, and sauce. I hate benedicts because many sauces used are funky. Saraghina makes a creamy and light sauce that isn't soaking your bread or overpowering the plate. The salad it comes with has a light dressing that helps balance the oils from the fish. The bread is perfect for catching the perfectly cooked egg goo. Sides of Eggs and House Potatoes. Eggs are fluffy. House potatoes are served with big onion pieces which are deliciously flavored. Prosciutto and Funghi pizza was great. They have thin crusts with lots of cheese. I enjoyed the above items more than the pizza. But I think it's because I am a huge breakfast person. Service: Great but not mind-blowing. They will refill your bottle of water sometimes. The waitress doesn't look happy to be there. Some of their other waitstaff give an air of "hipster ecgh" which I don't like. Overall: Because the food is spectacular, I can overlook the average service and eat here repeatedly. read more

The pizza is great, but my favorite thing on the menu is the Cascio a Pepe. Perfect place to go with friends and they have a beautiful outdoor seating area. Saraghina is one of those solid neighborhood spots that you keep going back to because they know how to be consistent. The ever changing menu still manages to deliver great food options. I love the burrata, however they do it. It's always a unique take on burrata. Love their fresh pasta dishes and the pork chop is always a win! The pizzas are yummy thin crust, gourmet pies with a nice serving. My favorite cocktail (Haitian daiquiri) is the reason why I keep returning! It's great any day of the week - it's also jam packed with people here every day of the week. But this creates an awesome ambiance. If you do have to wait for a table hang out in their New Orleans style bar attached to the restaurant and pregame your meal with some yummy handcrafted cocktails. The only reason they don't get 5 stars is because the service is hit or miss. We come so often so we've see great, attentive service at times and slow, meh service other times. read more

They took us in 15mn before their kitchen was closing. Very lovely atmosphere on weeknights. The decor is simple, rustic with a homey feel. My husband and I quickly decided on the Margherita and Capocollo. The pizzas were great, our favorite was the Capocollo. One drawback was the watery sauce. I love my thin crust but with that kind of sauce it made the pizza soggy in no time. Service was little lackluster but can't fully judge it since we came in right at closing time. We've been eating at Saraghina for the better part of eight years, and since we live a few blocks away it's a staple for us. The last few times we've eaten here however we felt like the menu was a little tired and needing of a refresh - it hasn't changed significantly in a few years. What's more, I feel like the execution of the food has decreased. What used to be consistently delicious is now often cooked poorly or doesn't taste like it used to. They accidentally brought us a different pizza without mozzarella and we didn't even notice, but the waiter brought us the correct pizza for free. Just one was enough for 2 to split for lunch though!
