I am surprised this place didn't get better reviews! As a New Yorker, diner food is my forte. I love a good hearty diner breakfast, and Sara's delivered. We came on recommendation from a local during a manatee tour, and we are very glad for the recommendation. I had the farmers breakfast, which consisted of 2 eggs, homefries, and gravy. I ordered a biscuit on the side. My boyfriend and I also split a short stack of blueberry pancakes. Food came out promptly, and it was delicious. The eggs and potatoes were cooked perfectly. I didn't realize gravy was put as a layer between the eggs and potatoes, but it really worked well and tasted amazing. The biscuits are homemade and perfect. Pancakes were perfect as well. Service was friendly. We have no complaints and will be back if we are ever in the area. read more

Good service. Breakfast served all day but only open until 3PM. Good, old fashion diner food. Great prices, friendly staff but can get crowded quickly. Lunch and daily specials are always good. Thursday March 2, 2017 at 11:30am stopped by for lunch. I had no breakfast so I could have eaten a rubber boot. I was starved. Decent crowd, no wait. I ordered a turkey club with French fries (waitress said it was $1.30 extra, I said OK), my wife ordered a Reuben. The food was served promptly. I was served my club and an additional plate of potato chips. My wife had the Reuben with potato chips. I asked the waitress if I was getting the fries I had ordered. She remembered me ordering it but forgot to write it down. She went to have them prepared. So after halfway eating the club (which comes with turkey, ham, bacon, lettuce tomato and mayo on your choice of bread) the fries came out. She said, "No charge for the fries". They were oven baked fries, not deep fried. the were hot and cooked through. The club was good, my wife enjoyed her Reuben. Except for the French fry foul-up it was fine. I understand the breakfast's are great, so maybe I'll order one next time. read more

Was starving after kayaking in the Crystal River. Thought we would try Sara's since we haven't been there since it was our old favorite "Jones". Food was excellent. From Biscuits and Gravy to eggs, sausage, bacon, HUGE pancakes and one of the best patty melts I ever had. Stopped in for s lovely breakfast, very quick service, very friendly. Definite local place, they knew many of the customers. Food was amazing, like someone's family cooking for you. I had western omelette, wife had veggie, asked for a bit of custom, they were perfect on the order and a great price. Will stop again next time we are in town. read more

Cute and clean classic diner with great food. Stopped in here on our way to a manatee swim. Our waitress, Helen, was great. We told her we had a time constraint and our order was out in no time. Oh, man, did we wish we didn't have to snarf and scoot! Their hash browns are to die for, thick, tender shreds and perfectly crispy on the outside. And the biscuits! Mile-high, fluffy, tender deliciousness. I wish I'd brought another stomach. The gravy was pretty good as well. We even went out of our way to go back for breakfast the next day on our way out of town. Highly recommend! read more

This place has great pancakes, bacon, and biscuits. The only problem is the eggs could be a little more scrambled.

My first Visit my last, I had a seat at the counter right in front of the food pick up area, I was very disappointed by what I observed. My counter waitress, was felling the toast on the counter for pick-up with her bear hands, when they made more toast for pick up, my waitress would fell the toast with her bear hands, & was placing the plate with the toast on it on top of the toast below , just kept stacking & again each time touching the toast with her bear hands, she placed plates of grits on top of the toast that she was taking to the tables to be served. She was rolling napkins in front of me & I had to tell her my order was ready, & where was my toast on the bottom stack of the plates of toast. Judge for yourself & sit at the counter where the food is to be served, & judge for your self. read more

Will not return...waitress never checked on party after she returned from bringing food back cold. Delicious!!! My grandfather lives right down the road from Sara's and he's there every morning. The wait staff all know his name and his order as soon as he's seated. Every time I visit, we tend to go there every morning and they all know my name by the end of my trip. The service is always great and the food is made to order so it's always super hot. The biscuits are my favorite because they're heavy and homemade. I always get one biscuit and gravy and I'm stuffed by the end of it. Sweet people and great food! read more

We had company in for the week. Tried going to Granny's but the weather was nasty and I didn't think standing outside.. well this place is good but not that good. So, we went up the road to Sara's. A little wait but we didn't have to stand out in the weather as they have ample room for a dozen customers. Food is every bit as good and service is even better. The only complaint I had with my breakfast was the smoked sausage. Good taste but the thing should have had "Goodyear" on the casing as it was too tough to chew. Im still reeling in disbelief. This actually happened today folks. I swear on my own life. My friend took me out for lunch today. It was the 1st visit to Sara's Diner for both of us. My sweet potato fries were still frozen..I mean solid frozen yet sitting in a puddle of dirty oil. My fried green tomatoes were very small also sitting in a puddle of dirty oil. Both horribly inedible. My friend said her Quesadilla tasted funny..like rancid meat. When we complained, the owner yelled at my friend that there is something wrong with her tastebuds in front of a room full of customers. I couldn't believe what I was hearing! We were served terrible food here. INEDIBLE! Then when we complained, we were yelled at by the women who said she was the owner. We politely and quietly walked out of the restaurant. I felt bad for the waitress. Even though we ate nothing I left a nice tip for her. What the heck was the owner thinking? read more

Disappointing. I really wanted to like this place. The atmosphere is really quaint. The service was fast and friendly. Nicely decorated. Unfortunately the food was not that good. Hash browns were mushy in the middle. I could tell they we're put in the griddle frozen. Outside was crispy but barely cooked/warm center. Note to owner to scatter the potatoes first. Pancakes were ok but probably a mix. Eggs were cooked right and bacon was good. Average age of clientele was 70 so maybe bland food is ok. Prices were very reasonable. Wish it was better, I was really looking forward to a good small town diner breakfast. Grannies down the road would be a better bet. read more

I went to Saras to see how it was. Unfortunately a bad experience. The waitress had no personality, the cooks sent me out the toughest grill porkchops I have ever tried to eat. I sent them back. 20 minutes later still nothing to eat. Told the waitress, she had no response to me, so I told her to forget the pork chops . Then to make matters worse was charged for the beets that was with the meal. Very bad service and cooks need improvement for reorders. I guess that is what happens when the managers are not there. read more

Very slow service. Food was between ordinary and subpar. Ordered egg and pancake breakfast. Tasteless. Also had chicken wings and they were not seasoned or breaded. Just wings dropped in grease. Not even salt or pepper on them. Don't recommend this place. read more

Do not arrive after 12 noon. They do NOT want your bussiness after noon. Myself amd a friend arrived at Sara's on 12:50pm Sunday August 17th. Once entering the establishment I noticed plenty of seating avalible. I asked one of the lady's behind the bar area for a table. First a younger lady said it's going to be a while, which I said ok can I set at the bar until a table is ready. She replied, it's going to be a while once again. I waited around a minute not wanting to set at the bar thinking I may upset the emplyee. Another older women walked by. I asked her if any of the vacant/clean tables were avalible. She said no and the empty table's where in an area that had to be closed by noon. I asked if it was due to a reservation or group ariving. She said No, we close it everyday at noon. I said ok, and about that time the table setting closest to the door got up and left (not in closed area). Thinking they may have over herd our conversation, I thanked them. I asked again, can I set at this table. She said no. At this point, i was upset. I even offered to bust the dirty table for them.....Why turn down business when you have the availability? I understand they work hard, but don't take your anger out on me. read more
