When the food comes out, I notice the ample portions of rice and beans. The rice has is nicely done and seasoned well as were the beans. Solid start. The enchiladas are soaked in a thicker chile sauce that is very flavorful. They are topped/stuffed with plenty of cheese and the added onions I requested came as ordered. Good job. We couldn't get into our usual Mexican restaurant so we tried Saritas. There was not a wait so we were seated quickly, which was really good because my medical appointment was within an hour and I was worried that we wouldn't have enough time to eat lunch. Sarita's is a fairly large restaurant with a bar. We sat in a booth, and the background Tejano music was loud. I looked up and we were sitting beneath the speaker, but it looked like every couple of booths there were ceiling speakers all over the restaurant. I know they're trying to create an atmosphere, but I really just wanna eat lunch and I don't need background music. I ordered chicken Caldo and my husband ordered an enchilada plate. I like that we got chips and there was no extra charge as the other restaurant that we normally go to charges for chips if it's not dinner time. The waitress was very attentive and came to our table quickly. She took our order and the food didn't take long to come out. the chicken Caldo had generous pieces of chicken, a fairly large wing and a breast along with a couple of large pieces of carrots, celery half a red potato , and a lot of bell pepper. I noticed I didn't receive any rice and the waitress and she told me that rice did not come with the Caldo, but I could order some on the side which I decided not to do. Overall, it was really good although it probably had a total of two green peppers in it so that was a bit much and sort of an unusual veggie to put in the Caldo, but it was still good. My husband enjoyed his enchilada plate. He asked for Barracho beans and got refried beans, but he figured he wouldn't ask the waitress to change them. I used the restroom and the music was really really loud in there. There were a lot of rust marks on the floor and the walls because it looked like the bathroom doors and hardware had been moved. On my adventure to San Antonio I was told that this place was a good choice for Mexican food. The restaurant in question is "Sarita's", you notice as approaching to the restaurant a good amount of parking and entering you see seating for small groups and even for larger groups. It has a bar area to a good atmosphere to watch and enjoy a game but it does have a bit of everything you would need to have an enjoyable experience. As you sit down they take your drink order and on that note the staff are helpful and very cordial which makes the dining experience more enjoyable. Now the most important part of any restaurant, the food, and this place doesn't disappoint. They start you off with chips and salsa which were great way to open your appetite. Now the meal I chose came with enchilada, a taco and a chalupa, it's the Sarita's Combination Plate. The meal was good and it was plenty of food that left me feeling full but a good kind of full. I went during breakfast, but I ended up getting the cheese enchiladas plate. I loved that the refried beans had flavor and I didn't have to add salt like I usually do. I came to Sarita's in the past with a friend a few months back, and at that point, I would have given the restaurant a 4. This time, it's a solid 2. It turns out that my family were not fans of the food. It did the job - sort of, yet we don't plan to return. The chips and salsa were okay. The chips were a bit thicker than most, and the salsa was watery. My chili relleno was okay, yet it was overcooked on one end and okay on the other. The biggest problem was that there were so many seeds. It was like the pepper was never cored before it was cooked. It was so hard to chew my food at that point because the seeds were everywhere. The beans were decent, and the rice was okay. My husband hated the chicken fajitas. He said it tasted and felt like they were cooked the day before and then recooked the next day. My child, who usually eats all of their food at Tex-Mex restaurants, left most of his meal. If they weren't happy with the dinner, we won't dare come for breakfast. read more

My husband and I were looking for a quick bite to eat before we started our day. When you walk in you are greeted by a hostess. We were quickly seated. There wasn't too many people when we arrived. Our waitress was extremely attentive to us. Staff here in general were friendly. We both ordered huevos rancheros. The food was bland. Not much flavor. The potatoes also looked more like miniature French fries. Not the typical potatoes I normally see. There was no salt or pepper which I understand due to some diet restrictions. I had to season everything with what was available in the table. The eggs were cooked perfectly. The beans were also a good consistency. Other than the seasoning it was okay. Nothing to be excited about. I wouldn't personally go out of my way to come back for the food. The staff did make my experience pleasant so that was a plus. The hostess gave me a reception as cold as the restaurant interior. She either hardly liked her job or just instantly disliked me. She was unfriendly. The window-side tables are too small. I had to sit with my arms closed to avoid elbowing the chair beside me. I had to ask for a tea refill instead of the waitress offering it. I was drinking unsweetened tea and after I asked for a refill she brought sweetened tea. The barbacoa and egg plate with a country sausage and egg taco were good enough to merit my giving the place three stars. However, considering the reception, service, undersized table, chilly interior and noisy atmosphere I think I will spend the $21.72 cost for the food elsewhere next time I crave a Tex-Mex breakfast. read more

After waiting FOREVER to be seated a waitress finally took pity on me and sat me at a table. I ordered the tortilla soup from a female waitstaff, my soup arrived about 10 mins later and it was luke warm she asked if I wanted green salsa..yes..and then i never saw her. A male waitstaff did ask if I needed anything but I was pretty much done with the luke warm soup so, I said no. The female waitstaff never came back. Went here a month ago for lunch, we're seated immediately, had a very sweet waitress who was from Mexico. The queso was pretty good, better than the straight Velveeta we've had other places. We both had cheese enchiladas, mine with charro beans, his with refried beans. The chili gravy on the enchiladas was passable, but the enchiladas were really small. The rice was pretty bland, the charro beans were ok, they were seasoned with some bacon. The refried beans were absolutely inedible, they had a very strong artificial smoke flavor. Decided to take my daughter this evening to Sarita's and I ordered a shrimp cocktail and it was horrible the only ingredient I could taste was ketchup I noticed the texture was extra thick from the beginning, I asked the waitress if ketchup was the only ingredient put in it she went and asked the cook and came back and said they also put in clamato. My first time here was excellent. I started with the sampler and realized their chicken wings are really good. The Paloma drink was amazing, one of the best I've ever had. We came back the following week and had the chicken wings and the chimichanga dinner. The chicken wings were on point. The chimichanga was really good however mine had a lot of beans on the side that I ate. I would've preferred to have it been all meat & cheese. their rice does not have a lot of flavor, and the beans are seasoned lightly, but they are still good. Sarita's is a place that's pretty consistent. You get decent Tex-Mex. Unfortunately, they recently raised their prices, and now the Tex-Mex is overpriced. Breakfasts are good, and they have a few plates where the price is worth the meal. This isn't so for the dinner menu. Happy hour is great - if you want domestic draft beer. 20 ounces of cold goodness for $5. The $5 HH margaritas are on the smallish side, though they are good. The service is usually decent to good. I think of Sarita's as the Denny's of Tex-Mex, but overpriced. You know what you'll get every time. Solid food, but nothing special. read more

Meh- I wasn't too crazy about Sarita's. This place has obviously been some other restaurant before, and they converted it into a family diner/sports bar. When we went, the restaurant was mostly empty, but yet they insisted on sitting us in the corner between a table of three screaming kids, and a couple having a huge fight. The situation was tense before we even got our food. Why they didn't sit us in the other part of the restaurant? They said it was "closed." The food was mediocre for Mexican food at best. It seems my dish had sat under the heat lamp for a while, and the cheese had gotten that scabby crust. The salsa was watery and the chips seemed stale. I'm pretty sure they're buying their tortillas from Cisco or something. The restrooms were pretty nasty. The closed area didn't appear to be that clean. It seems that the best features of this restaurant are the sports bar in the center. They have a happy hour, and TVs. Parking is easy! It's located right outside the Medical Center. read more

Regular customer, but my last visit Friday was not good. The waiter never returned after serving us. He was also the bartender. I got up twice to ask person cleaning for a to go box. Our waiter came to check us out, put my credit card in, paid & had to reach around cash register to get receipt. The waiter could not juggle 3 jobs. The video bowl did not have flavor. I didn't order it and went instead down the street to Lindo Jalisco, they make it with beef shank and it had the bone marrow I like. Who puts brisket in their caldo de res? I went tonight to meet a friend of mine whom I've known for many years, he's a very very friendly person, he loves loves communicating with everyone but here the staff I saw with my own eyes cut him short of that! It was really sad to see knowing what a friendly person my friend is. Even the manager was the same with him! When I saw them treat him this way I was very disappointing! We came for a short visit for dinner while visiting someone at the hospital, I needed a drink to calm my nerves -the Mangonada drink was excellent, and so worth it! Yesterday I went in to Daritas to have lunch 02/24/26. I ordered two Fajita tacos with avocado. The waitress was very nice. She asked me if I wanted a takeout bag to take my fajitas. It was obvious she noticed I didnt eat the and that I had only eaten the tortillas with the avocado. I said "No" I wasn't taking it because the meat was so hard to eat. She said am going to go ask my manager. The manager came around ; I noticed she stared at my plate. She said how are you doing. I said I told your waitress. She left. Never did they offer to ask me if I needed to order something else. I didnt complain but that just shows you that this restaurant doesn't care about they're customers. I paid full prize for 2 tortillas wit like half an avocado. $16.××. I have eaten here before. Am not saying all they're food is bad.
