For years this has been a goto spot for breakfast. Now it seems that it's good for dinner as well. The Thai food served after 5 on certain nights is surprisingly delectable from this small coffee shop. Pros: huge servings, tasty thai, vietnamese noodle salad was light and crisp. My boyfriend went to get us breakfast and was waiting to be spoken to. He was the only one there waiting to order and was never greeted. While he was waiting for our order he overheard the manager making business decisions which is pretty unprofessional to do in front of customers especially when they were going to order cheap cups and their workers said not to because of how flimsy they are. We were sat upstairs and I'm pretty sure our waitress was drunk. There was a blow up mattress right next to our table. Everyone who had a table had to get their own coffee and water. We waited so long for our check I have never experienced anything like it. Even the table next to us was asking about our service and laughing. Perfect breakfast; nothing fancy. My son enjoyed his Love Boat (poached eggs with hollandaise sauce, hashbrowns, and toast). I opted for a western omelette, and added cheese for $.99. I got grits instead of hash browns and they were so creamy and delicious. The staff was nice and came by appropriately to check on us. I was a bit surprised to be charged $2.50 for coffee. Customer service was horrible! We ordered the Spanish omelette and the Love Boat. I didn't like the taste of the Spanish Omelette and so I requested that it be taken back and be allowed to order something different. The manager refused to let me order anything different and told me that if I didn't like that, I wasn't going to like anything else. My husband didn't like the Love Boat. He said the hash browns were very soggy and had no taste. Overall, this is a horrible place for breakfast. They also moved us to 3 different tables in the process. My wife and I go here on every visit. The coffee is fantastic. Great taste and service is always great! They have a nice small outside sitting and an upstairs as well. The French toast is very delicious as well as "the mess" for those hangovers! We make a point to come a few times for breakfast on every visit. The food was just that, food. Completely meh. Here's what gets them only two stars. Using the excuse that it's the off season to explain why you're out of things is unacceptable. You're out of milk so your coffee selection is greatly reduced? Then walk over to the convenience store and get some. Out of cheese? Go get some. And it's not that they ran out - they opened up with none, and continued through the day with none. The final blow was when the waitress told another table that she couldn't make change for them paying their check with two twenties, that it would wipe out her change in the till. When the hope of a huge tip suddenly disappeared with their glares, another waiter suddenly appeared with change. A cash only business should be prepared to make change. Staff should be cashing out their small bills on the regular in order to keep the till stocked. This place isn't worth a return visit under any circumstances. read more

I was not pleased with the customer service. We came in with a party of 8 and they told us we couldn't sit together unless we wanted to wait. We said no biggie we can split up. As we walked in there were 2 tables open right next to each other. They refused to put the tables together because they belonged to different waitresses. Seems like a silly rule not to accommodate their customers. I ordered a egg breakfast that came with pancakes. My "pregnant" wife and I like to share our meals and she wanted banana walnut pancakes. I asked the server to make my pancakes banana walnut and she told me there are no substitutes. Adding walnuts to my pancakes isn't a substitute, it's an addition. It's like adding cheese to your eggs. I wouldn't call that a substitute. I would have to order a separate order of pancakes to get banana walnuts. Why not charge me accordingly for my request and make the customer happy. It would be a win win for both. Breakfast was good and waitress was good. Management is not customer friendly and makes it difficult for me to come back. Don't like feeling frustrated when I'm a paying customer. read more

Prior to visiting this place, I was convinced EVERY restaurant in Ocean City was crap. Satellite changed my mind. Things of note: -Patio seating is dog friendly. At least, they didn't say anything about ours. -Ask for fresh creamer: Ours had been out in the sun ALL morning. -Wait staff can be slow to clean up tables. -Extensive list of coffees, cappuccino, and espresso for the morning-folk. While not quite as good as Layton's, this place still blows the rest of Ocean City out of the water. Strongly recommend the Cinnamon Raisin French Toast. read more

The huge sign out front attracted me as I was driving around looking for a place to have breakfast so I pulled in. Ocean City doesn't have a lot of places open in the "off season" so I was glad this was here. It's a cute little coffee shop type place and the breakfast menu has lots to choose from with different food combinations being given different names...which seems to be common in a lot of restaurants but something that drives me nuts. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to really read through the menu because the server was hovering over me to get my order. I got the pancakes and eggs which were pretty decent. The coffee was good and the service was almost too efficient. I give it three stars because the ambiance is nothing really special and the food is good without being spectacular. We've been snarfing down breakfasts at Satellite Cafe for more than 8 years. This place has breakfast down pat, but after finally having their Thai dinner menu, stick with the breakfast. Omelettes, and yummy french toast (Walk On The Boards) are my go tos. This is one of the few places that is willing, and able to make eggs that are fully cooked and not runny. Bacon is crispy, but make sure to ask for it that way. This place is open on weekends during the offseason, and 7 days a week during on the onseason. The same owners also run the Satellite place on16th street, and I haven't eaten there yet. read more

This review is for breakfast at Satellite - I can't speak to the "Thai fusion" food they serve in the evening. But if breakfast is any indication, I probably should come back and try it. We swung in, kids in tow, on our last day "down the ocean." I remembered passing this place a few times during our vacation, and wanted to try it. We grabbed a roadside outdoor table, mainly because an outdoor table keeps the kids busy looking at stuff and not bothering anybody nursing a hangover or trying to get three cups of joe in before work. They have a substantial and somewhat confusing menu. The kids' fare is interspersed with the other dishes and hard to pick out. Not that there's much difference in prices/content of the kids stuff and the grownup stuff - this place is pretty cheap and generous all around. I got "The Mess" - hash browns topped with eggs and homemade sage sausage gravy. My wife got something similar - with creamed chipped beef & Old Bay vs. the sausage gravy. Both were out-of-this-world good and completely filling. The oldest of our carpet primates got the french toast - thick cut, with plenty of vanilla in the batter. Great stuff. The monkey-in-training had pancakes, which were light and fluffy-crispy. They make a decent cup of coffee, too, and the waiter was quick to keep them filled and clear plates out as we finished. I think this will become a regular stop on our Ocean City trips. read more

Oh, Satellite. You were conveniently placed near where we were staying and had good reviews. We were hungover and in desperate need of brunch. Match made in heaven, right? Sort of. It was busy when we got there, which was right around noon on a Saturday. Nonetheless we did score some prime outdoor seating. Our waiter approached us and the real fun began. First, he refused to allow some of my party to order lunch entrees even though the host had provided both breakfast and lunch menus. Keep in mind it is noon. Then, he was generally unhelpful while we tried to order. Everything we asked, said, or did seemed to annoy him. God forbid we want fresh creamer for our coffee. I know that he was busy, but he gave us a LOT of attitude. Now, I'm used to wait staff with 'tudes since I live in Hipster Central in Philly, but even THEY are more helpful than this guy was. The food itself was pretty good. I can't complain about anything there. Except, again, how much eye-rolling it took for us to get some condiments. Maybe this guy was having a bad day. I want to think he's nice underneath it all. The quality of the food really saved this from being a bad experience. I would probably go back and hope Mr. Sourpuss isn't working. read more

I ate breakfast here on a recent weekend trip. It was my third visit to this restaurant. Typical breakfast fare with a decent variety of combinations offered. Our waitress was very nice and quick to offer refills on water and coffee. I let the kid in me come out and ordered the sausage roll-ups. It's pretty hard to mess up sausages rolled up in a pancake, so it came out just as I anticpated, warm and tasty. Prices are reasonable as well and I've never had to wait for a table. I would guess that the other reviewer probably just had a new kid down for the summer waiting tables. The Satellite on 46th is a solid example of a great OCMD diner with a peppering of flair to set it above the rest. They've got a ton of great morning combos that will break your fast but not your wallet. I got the SOB (sausage gravy and biscuits) and the girlfriend got a breakfast croissant sando. Both were excellent. The gravy on mine was a bit spicy and heavy in the pepper, but it had large chunks of sausage to balance the flavor out. We also shared a Satellite Shakerato, basically just a fancy vanilla amaretto lattee. It too was totally bomb. I'd definitely come back just to dive into the coffee / lattee menu. read more
