Amazing spot for ramen the noodles are perfect firmness. Broth is immaculate and the chazu is nice and crisp. Great service with nice seating and clean environment and bathroom. I am impressed with this spot. Coming back again
Stumbled upon this ramen restaurant with my wife and wow it was such a good decision to visit during a weekend lunch. It wasn't busy when we arrived but it got quite busy during our meal. Staff here is great. They're professional, friendly, and quick. Interior is also very spacious and there's plenty of tables for a ramen restaurant standard. Love the darker vibes as well. We ordered the Yuzu Shio Ramen($15.99) and Tonkotsu Ramen($16.99) for our own bowls and the snowy karaage fried chicken ($7.99) to share. The two ramen bowls were extremely delicious. Portions are very much standard which is great. Presentation is always a high standard when it comes to ramen and this restaurant upholds that standard. The flavoring were just perfect, nothing too overwhelming and not too salty as well which is always great to see. Love each and every bite. The karaage are absolutely delicious. One of the best I've ever eaten. Deep fried served with mayonnaise which adds tons of flavoring. Even without the mayo, it's very flavorful regardless, the snowy flakes adds a bit of texture to each bite as well which makes this a top tier dish. Highly recommend. Overall, a great ramen restaurant. We left the restaurant very fulfilled and excited to add this to the list of top restaurants in California. Loved each and every bite on top of the fast service, high quality ramen is not easy to replicate but Sato does a great job at it. There's a reason why they're top 100 California Ramen restaurants ranked at #48. Excited to visit again to try other ramen bowls.
What a great find! Went there for lunch at the recommendation of my daughter, & we immediately liked the ambiance & vibe...very calming simplicity. A decent variety on their menu as well, not just ramen, & a fairly extensive appetizer list. There was a summer special menu, so we ordered the spicy cold tofu, which was delicious. Also got spicy gyozas, that was very flavorful. We picked the yuzu shio ramen, and that was very yummy...light chicken broth, ramen noodles that were nice & "springy" with the right texture. Prices were reasonable too, many other ramen locations can get very pricey with their sides/appetizers but not so here. Their staff were friendly & respectful too. Enjoyable experience all around!
Stopped by Sato Ramen House after work with a coworker and had a wonderful dining experience from start to finish. We were greeted immediately upon arrival and seated right away. The restaurant is bright, spacious, and welcoming, and the aroma of the simmering broth filled the air the moment we walked in. I ordered the Yuzu Shio Ramen with charred tonkatsu, which was fantastic. The char on the pork added a wonderful smoky flavor that complemented the light, citrusy broth and noodles beautifully. My coworker ordered the Beef Curry and Rice with a Vegetable Korokke and thoroughly enjoyed her meal as well. One of the highlights of our visit was the Black Truffle Chawanmushi. It was absolutely divine! The silky steamed egg combined with shrimp, scallops, and the rich truffle sauce created layers of incredible umami flavor. Every bite was comforting, flavorful, and beautifully balanced. To share, we ordered the tofu and seaweed salad along with the garlic edamame. The garlic edamame is a must-order. The sauce was so flavorful that I honestly wouldn't mind eating a bowl of rice topped with just that garlic sauce. It was that good! Overall, the food was delicious, the service was friendly and efficient, and everything came out quickly. Sato Ramen House definitely left a great impression, and I look forward to coming back to try more dishes from their menu.
Great service, good atmosphere and amazingly one of the best ramen we tried. This is our first time here and surprisingly we never been here? All including their appetizers also delish. Seriously this place need to be more busy. Try them and let me know. Easily the best ramen in la now.
My favorite ramen in Pasadena. The broth is rich and delicious, the pork is perfectly cooked and the egg is delicious. I also tried their gyozas and they were delicious. Ambience is great, never too packed. Service is quick.
I enjoyed their yuzu ramen. It was very interesting. It was definitely not the usual ramen youd expect. It was citrusy and very light. The chashui it came with, you can taste the charred. I also got the chawanmushi and they provided soy sauce with it. It wasnt bad but id prefer to get their karage chicken instead. The karage was lightly battered and very crispy. They also had parm cheese on top of it. Would need to come back to try their other items. There is street parking and also parking structures you can park at. Sadly both requiring payment.
Your average ramen shop. My mazesoba was pretty good, I liked the flavors. I wish the takoyaki has more octopus bc each one only had one piece, the one I buy frozen has more. The tonkotsu was decent. My sister agreed the karage curry was a pass

We had a nice dinner at this restaurant. It is classy, clean, and the food is delicious. We had the Unagi Bowl and Shoyu Ramen. The customer service is excellent. We will definitely be back.
This is cozy restaurant located in downtown. We were welcomed and got seated quickly by our server. Staff is very friendly and attentive. For starters we had spicy agedashi tofu, this dish has fried tofu topped with very refreshing mashroom sauce. Very delicious! Unagi Bowl - grilled eel and rice. Dish was perfect. Fish was very delicate and cooked to perfection. I thanked in my mind for not overcooking it. Unagi sauce pairs well but may be I'll get it on side next time. This dish came with my favorite miso soup cup ... Yumm!!! My family had spicy ramen and chicken ramen. You can change protein in your ramen. Everyone loved their dishes. I recommend this place !!! A hidden gem in Pasadena. They have a nice variety of ramen, mazesoba, and rice plates/bowls. I had the Tsukemen and it was delicious. The broth was full of flavor. The chashu was tender and flavorful. Vegetarians-they have solid options. The vegetarian mazesoba was delicious. Portions were just right. Service was great and it wasn't overly crowded like some nearby ramen shops.
Sato is the perfect balance between sophisticated and comfortable dining. Staff is friendly. Service is quick. Food arrives piping hot. The restaurant is on the smaller side, so interior seats can be limited when there are large parties present. Use street parking or nearby garage parking. Clean restrooms. Cozy, well-designed interior. Relatively mild noise level. The general vibe is pretty relaxed. Their menu has enough options to provide a variety for different tastes while not feeling overwhelming. A few staple ramens, rice bowls, a plethora of appetizers, and plenty of alcohol and nonalcoholic drinks. There's truly something for everyone. The tonkotsu ramen is a fan favorite, but the yuzu shio ramen is a great choice for those who don't favor creamy broths and want something a little lighter. Their takoyaki is a must-try, while the soft shell crab bun is a little underwhelming flavor-wise. Prices are fair considering the quality and quantity - you will definitely leave satisfied and full. Definitely recommend if you want high-end food without having to eat in a stuffy environment.
It was a cold windy night after shopping around Old Pas, we decided to try a new ramen spot (new to us) to warm up. I got the Yuzo Shio Ramen which was delicious with yuzu, chasu, egg, lemon and lime. The taste was very refreshing and the portion was just right. Hubby got the Taiwanese Bibimbap. It's basically similar to mazesoba except with rice instead of noodles. Break the egg yolk and mix thoroughly for a hearty meal. The restaurant feels really clean and the decor was modern. We came for an early dinner so we were seated right away, but half the restaurant filled up by the time we left. I would dine here again when I crave ramen in Old Pas area. read more

I've dined at Sato Ramen House twice and both times I enjoyed the food. On my most recent visit, they seemed to be understaffed so service was a bit slower but the food was still delicious. For appetizers, the black truffle chawanmushi is a must! It's a very generous portion of steamed egg with good black truffle flavor topped with a nice, plump shrimp. The takoyaki is perfectly crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside - another must order for the table to share. The agedashi tofu with pork spicy sauce was delicious as well. All were great choices and I would definitely order these again. For mains, the tonkotsu ramen with the slow cooked broth, chashu, egg, and bamboo shoots hit the spot for me. The original mazesoba with poached egg is another solid option but my favorite place for mazesoba is still Menya Hanabi. I'm glad Pasadena has a solid ramen option with reasonable prices for my future ramen cravings. Street parking and public parking garages are both available a short walking distance from the restaurant. read more
Stopped here randomly while on my way home from school. Honestly been on the reach for the best ramen spot, and this one is def my top 3 so far! Great service and the place is so cute inside. Went to Sato ramen on Christmas Eve for dinner and it was delicious and for most of our dinner we were the only customers! We started off with the chawanmushi steamed egg with that super silky texture. The agedashi fried tofu had options for mushroom or pork topping, so they can accommodate vegetarians. I appreciated that the waiter suggested to lessen the spice for our kiddo. He was also helpful when we were looking at beer options and excited to share about the Hitachino beer varieties and what was he liked about them. I was happy to see shio (salt seasoned broth) ramen. The Yuzu shio ramen had a lovely light tang and their pork was tender and flavorful. I'm looking forward to going again soon. read more
Conveniently located next to the Raymond parking lot so you wouldn't have to worry about parking! I was excited to try the Yuzu Ramen since I haven't tried it elsewhere before. Solid place for ramen and takoyaki! This restaurant also serves Hitachino beer which was a nice surprise. Gyuudon was not as flavorful as I would like it so I may just stick with the ramen next time. Tv featured some music videos inappropriate for kids so I had to tell mine not to look at the screen! I think eventually their playlist ran out and they thankfully didn't replay the music videos. read more

Went here for Mother's Day. We ordered the mazesoba, yuzu ramen, tonkotsu ramen, and the karaage. Mazesoba is a bit less flavorful than menya hanabi but it's still really solid and only $12. Tonkotsu ramen was savory, rich, and flavorful but not too overpowering. Yuzu ramen was the main reason we came here. I don't know any other places that serve this. It was great! I would come back just for this one. Karaage was super tender and completely worth it! Value: Great portions for the price! Love the variety of toppings. One of the best ramen places in Pasadena! I came across this place after going to Copa Vida just down the street and saw that they had a really good selection of different ramen options and also Mazesoba!! I love Mazesoba and its rare that you find a place around here that has this option. I tried: - Snowy Karaage Chicken: basically the best fried chicken ever with some powder sugar dusted over the top which made it 100000x better, def a good appetizer for sharing! - Yuzu Shio Ramen: incredibly delicious shio ramen. I love the extra unique twist with the Yuzu flavoring, it really cuts through the saltiness of the shio flavor and makes for the PERFECT balance. - Deluxe Mazesoba: all the best things about ramen but without the soup, basically a "dry ramen" type dish, HIGHLY recommend! I saw that this ramen shop had yuzu ramen. I fell in love with yuzu ramen after trying it in downtown LA, and so I had to come to Soto Ramen House to try their variation. I noticed their menu had some very unique items, including black truffle chawanmushi and tamagoyaki with imitation crab inside. So rather than just ordering two ramen, my wife and I shared a yuzu shio ramen, black truffle chawanmushi, and tamagoyaki. The yuzu shio ramen is slightly different from the one I had before. This one was not as heavy on yuzu flavor, but amazing nonetheless. I'm not sure how I felt about the addition of lime and lemon. The chashu was amazing, nice and caramalized and super easy to chew. The black truffle chawanmushi was something unique. Usually, I'm used to truffles on heavy dishes like steak and fish, so having truffles on something like egg custard allowed me to really taste the flavor of the truffles. The truffles and egg go super well together. I also loved that they added scallops and shrimp inside the chawanmushi. An amazing dish. The tamagoyaki was a very generous portion, with six pieces total. I love the sauce and the imitation crab in combination with the egg. The sauce was tasty too. This is hands down my favorite date night spot in Pasadena. My husband and I are suckers for a great bowl of tonkatsu ramen, with the chili provided and a side of extra chashu pork. We come here fairly often and the employees are always so friendly, tipping is never a second thought with service like theirs. Thanks for always leaving the both of us full and happy. read more

So good!! The interior was very nice and clean, and much shorter of a wait than Ramen Tatsunoya nearby on a weeknight. Tonkatsu ramen is solid and they have chili oil for you if you ask. Also had takoyaki as an appetizer and there's a good amount of octopus in it. Service is a little slow but maybe it was just a busy night and not a huge knock imo read more

I ordered off Grubhub so I can't speak about in- dining experience. I ordered the shoyu ramen. Portion was good. I felt like the broth was a bit salty for my liking and it definitely has a unique flavor unlike most ramen houses I've been to. The pork was fatty but that's ok. I'm interested in trying their other popular ramen bowl and even dining on-site. read more
Pretty standard ramen. Got the spicy tonkatsu ramen. Not spicy at all. About as spicy as pepperoni pizza. Average portion size. Everything you would expect for ramen. Broth was nice and tasty. Reasonable price at $15.99, Japanese food is usually expensive. Overall, if you are craving ramen, it fits the bill. No complaints. Just pretty average for ramen. Nothing exciting or noteworthy. Haven't been to Pasadena in a long while and glad that we were able to try this restaurant. It was pretty packed for a Wednesday night. We waited a while to get seated, maybe 30 minutes or less. Service can be improved as the servers seemed to be short staffed last night. Both servers last night were still very accommodating to our needs. Ambiance was laid back and chill! Not too crazy loud, still "quiet" enough to have conversations while enjoying the amazing food. The chicken karaage was amazing! It was the perfect mix of savory and crunch delicious! The soft shell crab bun was very, very good too! Mind you that the mayo can be a bit spicy. And for the ramen!!! I'm usually not a Shoyu person when ordering ramen, but the reviews here just made me do it. I'm happy to say I did not regret ordering it as I was able to finish everything. Only downside with the Shoyu ramen is that it only has half of the egg. read more
I had the Yuzu Shio Ramen. It's the most pleasantly unique ramen I've had at a restaurant. It was very light and citrusy. I did feel full but not weighed down by the fattiness, typically found in Tonkotsu ramen. It reminds me of Southeast asian cuisine with kaffir lime leaves. I highly recommend. I ordered togo at the restaurant. I think they were going through a late dinner rush. I ordered on a Thursday at around 8 pm. They said it would take about 10 minutes to prepare the food after I ordered and paid, but it ended up taking 30 minutes. I know because I saw the charge go through on my phone, timestamping the occurrence. Typically when you are hungry, I feel like things feel like forever -- and it absolutely did! I just want to point that out - I saw a few people who were waiting to be seated, ended up walking out since the waiters were preoccupied. I do think they were understaffed. The interior looks really nice. I think it's a great place for a date and it's underrated compared to the other ramen shops in Los Angeles. read more

A wise man once said that the pen is mightier than the sword, and although I doubt the subpar prose that you're about to read will give any validity to this statement, my main aim is to convince you of a similar-sounding axiom: the chopstics are mightier than the fork, knife and spoon. Imagine this, it's yet another Saturday noon under the harsh and unforgiving California sun during the summer time, you're getting hungry and of course your mind wanders amongst the myriad of options at your disposal here in foodie land, aka, SoCal. Of course, if you're craving soup, ramen is the way to go (if you've been following my reviews, you know I've baptized ramen as the only soup worth eating, and I stand by that statement 100%). You're in Old Town Pasadena and walk past this unremarkable place with a very nondescript storefront, but then you backtrack and notice the name: "Sato Ramen House" and think to yourself "isn't this place the one mentioned by that wannabe food critic on Yelp?", then you decide to give it a chance. Let's start with appetizers: the takoyaki are deep fried octopus ball that you MUST order. They're covered in this nice, crunchy panko breading and they're cooked to perfection and drizzled with a sauce straight from the Emperor Of Japan's personal stash. The snowy Karagee fried chicken is what KFC wish their chicken were, but healthier. Make sure to squeeze some of the juice from that lemon wedge it comes accompanied with. Now the heavy hitters: the maze soba (it roughly translates to "mixing Japanese buckwheat noodles") is perfect for sulty days. It's like ramen minus its perfect broth, but it's complemented with more toppings and a raw egg. To get the full effect, make sure to, after having taken a cute pic for the gram, MIX thoroughly everything that is inside your bowl. The server will also bring a special soy sauce and vinegar that you can add a bit to, in order to bring out the flavors more. The shoyu ramen is surprisingly solid and although not as tasty as his older brother, the tonkotsu ramen, it's still a solid choice. The chasu pork on both of these bowls of ramen are fantastic, cooked to perfection and seasoned with just the right amount of everything. Truly a must-go place if you're a lover of Japanese cuisine, like me, or just of good food in general... also like me :D. Service was fantastic and fast too. The place is clean, well-lit and with enough A/C to temporarily shelter you from the aforementioned harsh and unforgiving California sun during the summer time. Itadakimasu! read more
Solid 3.5 Stars Takoyaki was fried delicious goodness, but with smaller pieces of octopus inside. Yuzu Shio ramen hit the spot with its refreshing light taste. I loved the thick noodles and balance of ingredients. The chashu could have been grilled more but the egg was almost perfect. Tonkatsu broth was ok since it wasn't as rich as others. I was told this was ok overall. There was complimentary fried rice with benishoga near the end of the meal, which was pretty good also. read more
I found this place after walking around Downtown Pasadena to find a place that wasn't too crowded to eat at. There was a slight wait, but definitely not longer than 20 minutes. I ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen and it was pretty good as the broth was very flavorful. I'm personally not a fan of the char siu being charred, but if you're a fan of that, you would like this ramen. Service was a little slow but staff were nice and friendly. Overall, good experience and would recommend! read more

The mazesoba ingredients felt very fresh, meat and noodles were well cooked. The soft shell crab was nicely fried and had good flavor/texture, but I felt there was a little too much sauce and bun. Still worth a try read more

We came on a Sunday lunch and it wasn't busy when we got there, but definitely started picking up as we were eating. The interior was beautiful, cool, and very clean! The service was really fast and friendly! Overall for the food though, every dish was just slightly bland.. I didn't realize the mazesoba came with a miso soup, but that was nice. Again, it tasted slightly watered down, but still refreshing. I think my favorite dish was the karage! It was crispy and juicy and the siracha mayo was the perfect dipping sauce. read more
We were nearby at the Chalk Festival at Paseo Colorado and decided to pop in here for an early dinner. Luckily we didn't have to wait since it was a Saturday night. We were seated right away and orders were taken promptly. The food also came out rather quickly. First to come out was the black truffle chawanmushi. It's steamed egg with a nice fragrant truffle flavor and a perfectly cooked shrimp. It came out hot and soothing. The tonkotsu ramen boasted a 10 hour slow cooked bone broth, but did not have that rich flavor that often results in a bone broth. But the ramen was still good. The chashu slices were tender and flavorful. The yuzu shio ramen was much lighter with a slight hint of citrus in the broth. It's a nice refreshing ramen that's also filling. (Not not taken) You'll get 2 pieces of takoyaki for each Yelp check on. The law octopus balls were warm with a slight sweetness finish. My kid loved these. They also brought us 2 small bowls of fried rice, saying it came with our meals. I don't remember seeing that on the menu but didn't object. The interior wasn't very big but had enough tables to seat many smaller parties. They can also shuffle the tables to accommodate larger ones. The TV overhead played music videos for a lively vibe, but weren't too loud to be annoying. Sato is a pretty decent dining option in Old Town Pasadena if you're looking for a quick and tasty meal without a long wait like some of the other places. Worth a visit! read more
My friend told me about the place that they have cold soba. I always have to drive down to the Torrance area for it so it was nice to have a potential local place. I ordered the snowy kara-age and an order of tempura cold soba. The chicken was cooked great, very juicy and the snowy part was cheese. The soba was awesome especially the yuzu dipping sauce. I will definitely go back for soba and probably try ramen when it's cooler. read more
The food was just okay. Each ramen bowl was $12-14, which is pretty much the going rate nowadays. The broth lack depth in flavor, the noodles were a bit soggy for my taste. Yuzu shio ramen: strong yuzu flavor, they probably use yuzu juice, in the broth. It was not my cup of tea. If you check in, you receive 2 takoyaki balls! Delicious! Nice ambiance! Very clean and new. Customer service is a bit slow at taking orders. Parking is located in the City's structure. First 90 minutes is free. Or metered parking. read more
Came in as a party of 3 and got promptly seated on a wednesday night. We ordered the kaarage,takoyaki,mazesoba, yuzu soba, and chawanmushi. The appetizers came out first and were absolutely delicious. Then came in the main entrees, and it blew away my expectations! I came here with the intent to try the yuzu soba and the dipping sauce for it....IS AMAZING. IT WAS SO GOOD! Definitely enjoyed my experience heream and can't wait to come back. For parking you can either do street parking or park in the structure that is right across. $1 for 2 hours. read more
Sato Ramen has one of the highest ratings on google and pretty good reviews on Yelp. While it was good, I was expecting a bit more given the hype. Our appetizers and the service were excellent, prices are reasonable, but the ramen fell a little short. We started off with the truffle chawanmushi and takoyaki, both of which I'd recommend. The truffle in the chawanmushi is truffle pate that is added on top and added more to the presentation than the flavor. The chawanmushi itself was perfect - silky smooth with nice bits of seafood throughout. The takoyaki had a delicate crisp outside with a light interior and perfectly sauced. My pet peeves with takoyaki are when the inside is dense or too goopy or when there's too much sauce. We chose to come here because of the yuzu shio ramen which sounded refreshing on a hot August day. While the egg was perfectly cooked and the noodles were okay, the broth and the chashu meat both disappointed. The chashu meat was dense, dry, and lean. The broth was on the sweeter side and didn't have the umami nor complexity I've come to expect from ramen broths. Maybe we just got the wrong ramen but it did not live up to expectations. read more

I ordered tonkotsu and youzu ramen and calamari. Tonkotsu was not bad but soup is not enough to keep warmness of soup. Youzu ramen was too sour. Calamari dipping source was too sour too. Service was so so, never checked up our table. Ambience was great maybe the best I've seen for ramen place. read more
Not sure about the negative reviews but my experience coming here for the first time was pleasant and the service was good. - yuzu shio ramen - very strong yuzu flavor. Refreshing for the summer and perfect for those who love the taste of yuzu. The ramen comes with 3 pieces of chashu and half of a soft boiled egg - chasu mazesoba - dry mixed thick ramen noodles. It comes with mixed pork, chives, green onions, grated radish, 3 pieces of chashu and your choice of raw or poached egg. I got the poached egg one. The flavor is nice and the noodle is cooked to a perfect chewy texture. The portion size is also quite generous for the price of $12.99. - chicken karaage - not the best I've had. The batter reminds me of orange chicken. I think chicken karaage batter should be lighter and more crispy. - takoyaki - delicious with a slight crisp on the outside and moist soft batter texture on the inside with the chewy piece of octopus in the middle. Definitely better as an appetizer compared to the karaage. Parking: located in old town Pasadena so there's a parking structure across the street with $1 for the first 2 hours. read more
