My dish took 20 min to make, and it was clear the seafood topping was freshly prepared. I loved that it wasn't smothered in sauce; I avoided the soy sauce and probably stayed as close to gluten free as possible here. Take note that there was shredded cheese on this dish if you're dairy free. Hubby got the macadamia aburi salmon, and I snuck a taste; it's true that it's flavorful and the creamy macadamia sauce plus torched salmon pair perfectly. Service: Efficient. So glad we finally got to check our Sato Seafood. They are located on Kuhio right across from Laylow. We parked at Nordstrom Rack, did some shopping to get our validation, then walked across the street for lunch. Service was very quick and we were lucky to grab a table outside. Otherwise, this is more of a takeout place since there's only 2 tables. Hubby got the Hawaiian Muchies and I got the traditional tendon. Holy Cow.... you know, if you're so focused on getting that udon while you're standing in line, you'd miss this gem, and you don't want to because their poke was soooo good. How did I find out about this place? Because I wasn't standing in line, I was just strolling down Kuhio Ave one day and stopped to look at the menu standing outside the door. That charred salmon with the mac nuts on top, it looked divine. I yelped this place and was delighted to see a 5 star rating. I bookmarked it and was hoping to come back one day to try it. It's always been on my mind, but I haven't made my way back to Waikiki because who likes driving into Waikiki... That day, I decided I had to do it, so I ordered their aburi salmon bowl, I actually also tried their regular fresh salmon with ikura. I was so greedy, yes, but I was so happy from all the delicious food that day! The charred salmon with mac nuts was unlike anything you've tasted before, it's a MUST try. It's probably the most memorable poke bowl I've had. If you see me there every week, don't be surprised. I get why a lot of people love this place. Are you tuna was super smooth and super fresh. For amount of fish to rice was 1 fish: 2 rice. The rice was the fluffiest ever so I didn't mind how much I got. The people there are also super patient and nice. It is a small place though, so I got mine to go. Probably my favorite meal when it comes to my 3 days staying at Waikiki. My friend and I had booked everything up to the hour, but hit a little snag when our list of suggested food places were closed due to pandemic hours not being updated on Google. As such, we were thinking of going to Marukame when the line was atrocious. If I had my way, every other meal would be poke during our stay in Waikiki. We ended up checking out Sato Seafood due to the high average reviews and after sifting through some of the great things fellow Yelpers have said, made it next door (LITERALLY next door) from our hotel. The items were the same as Bay Area prices, for the various donburi options. They had a simple menu and seemed to be owned and operated by a small team of dedicated Japanese owners and staff. I ended up getting the Sake Donburi that had fish eggs. It was a bit pricey, in my opinion, but of best value. Made to order, my not-necessarily poke, ended up being of a texture that melted like butter. Customer service was phenomenal and I noticed that certain other people waiting for Marukame ended up following suit. Good for Sato, they really deserve the praise and to be tried out. read more

Found out about Sato Seafood while standing in line for Marugame Udon. Didn't realize that this small shop is a poké place!! The store is designed as a grab and go or if you want, there are some outdoor seating outside. They have an open kitchen and poké is so fresh. They also have options of different hand rolls and if different bases such as white sushi rice, brown rice or salad. I'm not a big rice person so the salad is what I usually get whenever I order poké on the mainland. My group of 6 ordered quite a few items such as the lomi lomi hand roll, Hawaiian Munchies, and the Yuzu Kosho Punch to name a few. For my order, I got the Yuzu Kosho Punch with salad as the base and a lomi lomi hand roll. My box came with a cute hand drawn picture but upon opening, the poké looked very delicious. I loved my dish and it was refreshing too. I ordered the dish choosing salmon but you have a choice of ahi as well. The poké had a citrus tart taste which I bet is the Yuzu and there is a bit of a kick but not too bad. The lomi lomi hand roll had a citrus yuzu taste and is made with onion, salmon and rice. I was able to to try the Hawaiian Munchy which is one of their popular dishes. It consists of ahi poké with tempura garlic, tenkasu, spicy mayo and a soy glaze. Creamy, sweet and crunchy in one bite. I recommend all the dishes we got as they were really tasty. The menu is simple and easy to follow. All ingredients are so fresh & tasty! Really great to have on a beach day or any day. read more

I visited this place on weekday around 16:30. There was no line, ordered and served quickly. I tried macadamia aburi salmon. The salmon melted in my mouth and macadamia nuts will give it crunchiness. The sauce was good but I could have little more. It tasted good but I prefer Ahi poke row fish style rather torched fish. It's just my preference. There was only one outside table. So good! My family wanted Marukame Udon next door but the line was 60 minutes long. I was craving poke anyway and wanted something to munch on while in line...so I stumbled into Sato Seafood and I'm glad I did! I asked Shoji, who greeted me, what the best spicy salmon option was. He pointed to an item on the menu with 3 chili peppers and I selected that one. I believe Shizu was the one who prepared the bowl for me. It was really good...super fresh salmon and a decent portion. The sauces were indeed spicy and the bowl had an overall fresh taste. Shoji recommended the salmon macadamia bowl for next time. However, there wouldn't be a next time because my family decided to order it after seeing me enjoy my bowl! The salmon macadamia was even more flavorful with notable hints of sesame oil and macadamia. We are still in line for Udon but Sato was a great appetizer and I can't wait to come back for more poke!
