I watched two people leave when they saw the prices and did not get their discount. Even Safeway better food, better meat and less expensive more expensive than even Raleys her fresh foods. Let me preface that this used to be the closest Save Mart and most convenient place for late night and regular "Chips runs" that i used to do because some of the deals used to be good. And it used to be ok when i was still new there, but almost EVERY DARN time i went to buy a bunch of chips ( i buy in bulk so i don't have to come back for a while) I would get commentary from the clerks like " oh buyin some chips huh? Party huh? Like chips alot huh? " and while this doesn't really sound offensive and i'm sure they didn't mean it - it is incredibly rude and quite frankly NOT THEIR JOB to comment on what i am buying. I am there to buy and they are there to facilitate this transaction , i don't need social commentary! But this isn't even the worst part... Anyways, i always noticed that this particular store has some " characters" in the form of their employees that are stocking the areas and otherwise monitoring the self checkouts. There is this one guy who is taller, thin , and older looking maybe a little grey in the hair but he is always very strict on the rules, does not give anybody the benefit of the doubt and does not like kids at all... Then there is the Asian lady that works at checkout and is usually chill but sometimes she will also comment on things i buy and pry... So basically with all these interactions from the workers there whom i STRONGLY suspect are Special needs people because they have tendencies that trend toward the Autistic ( i work with special needs kids so i recognize that stuff ) IT quickly becomes a place that is no longer the NEUTRAL space where you get in get your snacks and get out - it is now a place where you CLEARLY get judged for what you order and verbally disrespected... The taller older guy especially gets rude VERY quickly and is not a good representation of a good customer service professional! This along with the fact that Save Mart is not really competitive with ANY store for prices has caused me to AVOID it even if it is the closest store to my house, and that is sad because there are PLENTY of other Save Marts that do a great job with customer service and aren't rude. I got a couple of these twice baked potatoes from the deli. I saw them and they're previously frozen, but all ya gotta do is toss them in the microwave or oven, they're already cooked. What it is, is a baked potato halved and scooped out and then that stuff is mixed with butter, sour cream and bacon and maybe some milk and then squirted back into the scooped out potato skin using a pastry tube thingy. Then you just reheat the whole thing. I think these are made off site and shipped frozen, so if you wanna keep some for later, ask for some of the frozen ones that have in the back, Get this, the price is just $2.50 each. Sure potatoes are cheap, but there a lotta labor that goes into this, so I think the price is a bargain, and I don't wanna do that work either! I come here regularly and would normally give 5 stars. But I took one off this time because of the watermelon I purchased here for my wife the other day. When we cut it open the next day, it was moldy and rotten. I'm not an expert on fruit and even though it looked a bit off, I wasn't positive. I loved this store when we first moved here last year. It's just a couple blocks away and very convenient. The checkers are very sweet and helpful. Slowly I noticed their meat always tastes old, especially the sale items, even if their expiration dates are several days out. Now their meat prices are insane. Way too expensive for what you get, and it always looks kind of gray. I will no longer buy meat here. They used to have fantastic deals on some items, that kind of made up for their outrageous prices on other things, but that's no longer the case. It looks like their prices are up at least 40% on everything this year. They also seem to only have one checker on busy weekends, which is crazy. This is a two part review, I have been coming to save mart for about five years. During that time, it has slowly become more of our go-to store, but does have some competition from Safeway and Rayleys. Overall, I feel treated very well. I have worked with the butcher shop on items like ordering a rib roast for the holidays to ensure I get one prior to them selling out. They have always honored he requests and never asked for deposit or purchase even when I have offered to do so. Similarly, when there is a solid deal on something in a max pack, and there are no "Max packs" available, they will try to make a max pack out of the individually wrapped items or look in the back. Regarding the service, I have never been mistreated, in fact, they have treated me well. I have had some pricing mis-matches and for the most part, they go on the honor system but I do know many of the employees. Finally, and I am a bit apprehensive to mention this, but they make some incredible chicken tenders and recently added wings. They have several flavors, but what was consistent overall was the ratio of meat to bone, and overall size. Some were the size of a small drumstick. They were piping hot, fresh, and tasty. I am partial to salt and vinegar and these here are legit- additionally, for a quick dinner I grab a pound or two of the chicken tenders, a fresh French roll, and then come home, spread some spaghetti sauce on the bread, top with mozzarella and broil for a few min to heat it up until bubbly and starting to brown. Add the chicken and you have a solid chicken parmigiana. Finally, price wise, like all supermarkets, you got to get the loyalty app, check the weekly ad, clip some coupons electronically, and you can save some significant cash. Having said that, overall, a solid value place if you are looking to stretch a dollar. About every other week they will have a great price on salmon fillet or steak. Both have always been quality items well worth the price. I hope they do bring back the bbq in the summer where you can get a cooked tri tip, that stopped due to the pandemic. read more

"c'mon honey we're gonna go get cakes!" so she's really quiet and we go in and we pick out single serve cakes. oh. my. freaking. heck. the bakery section is always my favorite because it is like a vacation in itself. better than like italy or funderland. top tier baked goods my dudes. holy wow. she picked the german chocolate and i got the party cake because who the frick doesn't want a party in cake format? and they weren't kidding like it was a total mouth rave. the service was pretty cool too like one lady was laughing that i was dancing behind vera and poking her while man i feel like a woman was on. good times. we checked out the rice section which was really dope too. vera was getting a bit impatient and hungry (we skipped dinner to come here) but cmon there was a really good sale on instant basmati like how the frick am i gonna pass that up? we checked out the firewood too which was really a cool vicarious life experience because i don't have a firepit (yet) but it was emotional getting to see the logs and stuff. i want one. okay. and vera says if i behave starting rigth now i can get some logs. so guess who has some really dope logs now? boom. me. the outdoor section is organized nice. i further entertained her with chocolate on my head because i do this funny bit where i'm captain cocoa the candy pirate and it's super funny. maybe you guys saw. i love foothills savemart. prices were dope. store was clean. this place is like the most ideal destination ever. vera thought we were going to eat the cakes in the car or go to the park or something but i was like "honey pop a squat we're eating these bad boys out front" so we did that right next to the soda machine. absolutely fantastic. My New Year started with Employee Joseph showing me what the worst possible Save Mart employee behaves like. At 6:20pm 1/2/2023 I began to checkout at the self check-out at the Savemart in Roseville when I was immediately confronted by Joseph. Joseph told me it was 15 items or less so I asked "is possible to still proceed?" He told me no and insisted that I go to a cashier POS station. As I obliged, I walk back into the store shopping floor but bumped the 15 items or less sign lightly. Joseph then ran up to me and grabbed my cart proceeding to embarrass me in front of the other customers as he attempted to pull my cart away, refused service and childishly threw a fit. I asked for his manager and he told me he was the manager. It required Brian and Mimi to help me since Joseph refused. I would never consider Joseph to be on my payroll. I live only couple minutes from Save Mart along Foothills Blvd. Moved from San Francisco a few months ago, yeast bread capital of the nation. Most native born San Franciscans grow up with discriminant taste in what defines good to high quality breads, pastries and global influenced dining. Luckily, there are other supermarkets where I could buy more authentic made French and Italian bread loafs, even if additional driving time is required. Save Mart's bread baker(s) need intense class in San Francisco to gain better experience. Save Mart's bread bakers seem lacking in distinguishing French from Italian from Dutch Crunch loaves. When slicing those loaves, the bread falls apart, more air than baked dough. I have never had any Dutch Crunch bread cover an entire kitchen counter or cutting board will a dense layer of crumbs as is typical of the Dutch Crunch version at Save Mart's. I also tried its version of my preferred cookie texture of crisp and crunch. The bakers must assume most of its customers have soft or fragile teeth. Admittedly I have not tried most other bakery goods, but to any culinary sophisticated S.F. Bay Area consumer, fresh baked breads are also a bellweather indicator if bakers are well trained or rushed into the profession. Fortunately, if willing to take a few more minutes from my home, I have other choices to buy good bread. Also, prices at Save Mart, a Lucky Corp. branch, is comparable to all other stores not bearing the title of "Save". When I want good tasting deli salads, I have to go elsewhere. Save Mart only carries Riesers deli salads which all taste factory assembly pre-made with the usual overload of chemical preservatives. read more

Should be ashamed of themselves!! The supermarket changed its hours to close at 10 from 12. I didn't find this out until I was in the middle of shopping so I was rushing to get my items as quickly as I could. Then your cashier Eddie walked up to me demanding to see my ID. I was barely allowed to find my last item without Eddie standing there as if to threaten me. Maybe he could have acted like a decent human being and asked if he could help me find something? I don't appreciate his demanding to see my ID like I was a criminal given that your store changed its hours and I was obviously trying to finish my shopping quickly. Went today, and was met with complete aggression and racism. The self check out lady is rude, aggressive, controlling, and profiles young black/brown men. I think her name is Mai. She is not a genuinely nice person, like her fellow co-workers! She will say, "I've never seen you before, I don't know you!" What worker says that at a grocery store? More often than not, the employees here are very pleasant. That is until today when I was in line checking out with my husband and 2 year old son. He was hanging onto the cart in front of me and had his fingers in the little holes. The cashier looks at my son and tells him to be careful with his fingers. The courtesy clerk on the other hand said "yeah and if you pinch your fingers, don't come crying to me or I will just say I told you so". Although frustrating, I brushed it off as he seemed to be a socially awkward being. The cashier keeps scanning our items and comes to a banana peel from a banana my son opened while shopping. She looked up at us extremely frustrated and asked the bagger to go get another banana of similar size. He returns and looks at me and said "last I thought, you were supposed to pay for your items before you eat them". And last I thought, you were supposed to keep your comments to yourself. I placed an order at the deli counter and Steven T asked me how much I wanted, I ask for an inch and a half or two cut on the meat, I did not want it sliced. He got all rude and just kept asking how much I wanted. Now that I'm back in the Roseville area, I have started coming to this Savemart location more out of convenience. The is a Bel Air located a little further down the street, but that's about it for grocery stores on Foothills Blvd. Out of all the grocery store chains, Savemart has to be one of my least (if not the least) favorite. For Bay Area Yelpers, it's the equivalent to a "Lucky's" because they're owned by the same company. The store inside feels old and dated, it could really use a remodel. The produce section is very small, and doesn't have much of a selection for the produce that they do have. It's also expensive! The freezer section has a good selection, and the meat counter is good as well, though on the smaller side. They also have a nice snack and condiment selection, but that's about it. Their bakery and deli are lacking, and their checkout system isn't the best. Recently they have had a BBQ going out front with fresh BBQ which smells nice. With that being said, this store is pretty basic. I haven't been able to find here many of the different and unique items offered at other grocery stores, and the prices (unless there is a sale) are a little higher on basic items than I have come to expect. I will come here for an item or two, but not for my regular grocery shopping. read more

My In-laws used to shop here for quite a few years a while back. I'm sure it was top notch back then since all they did was rave about it. Now-a-days, its just okay. Produce is pretty fresh and the selection around the store is also good. It's quite a bit more expensive from some of the other grocery stores in the area though.
