In my hunt for a local Star Certified Smog facility I stumbled upon thiz little gem in Upland. I came in to get my '01 Taurus checked. I found the location tucked behind Del Taco in the same driveway as the mattress shop. The lobby was clean and cozy and the manager, Ryan offered my daughter and I a cold bottle of water and the tv remote. They spoke very politely, professionally and properly too (hard to find in a lot of shop environments). When prices are already competitive in this business the quality of service and friendliness of staff is what differentiates one business from the next and Save On is doing just that. This morning I headed over to get a SMOG check for my son's vehicle he bought a year ago from this same place. I took it to the exact place because they sold us the car. They treated us so well during that transaction that we wanted to go back. I walked up to a friendly face in the office that took my information and keys and said it would be about 30 minutes. Avoid. I trusted them because they were AAA approved but the car I bought needed $3,800 worth of repairs. I should have taken it to a different mechanic to have it looked at before I bought it but I was tired of car shopping and decided to trust these guys cuz they were AAA approved. My bad. I wish I didn't even have to give them one star. Unfortunately this morning a AAA member was unable to unscrew my lug nuts and change my tire into my spare, so I was dispatch to this shop. I got a call from a female this morning stating they are going to charge me 25 dollars to remove EACH LUG NUT and remind you they're not stuck or broken. That is INSANE! I have never heard of that. With the name "SAVE ON AUTO CARE" you'd think they wouldn't charge this insane price. Luckily I found an amazing shop in chino called "Pacific Tire" off 13th at and chino Ave. their staff was amazing and was able to help me remove the tire and lug nuts with no fuss or problems. I was out of their shop in less than 10 mins and better yet, they charged me 5$. read more

I came in asking them to find my electrical issue. They spent an entire day diagnosing my car, to tell me I had an electrical issue. First $100+ wasted. They told me to diagnose the electrical issue would require another diagnosis payment. There's another $100+. At the end of the next day they had hillbilly rigged an electrical situation and tried to charge me $65 for something I could've done in my driveway. They did not fix the problem or identify the problem. They did a backyard fix so it ran and did the bare minimum to take my money and see me out the door. I told them to remove their hillbilly wiring because I wasn't going to pay for it, and they left it in for no charge. I asked if it would kill the battery. They said no. It killed the battery. Again, they didn't care about solving the problem...They just wanted the bare minimum for me to leave and then to take my money. They were all nice people, but if you want your car fixed right I'd find somewhere else. If you want a smile and a job half done, that's your place. read more

Beware! This is not the same shop I knew. I went here before when it was called Foothill Foreign Auto run by a very respectable elderly couple but I heard they retired and sold to a new owner. So here's the story. My father-in-law's 2008 Audi had a 2181 check engine code = cooling system. I know because I scanned it and I also had it scanned by an independent auto shop. I had the car scanned because I saw it on TV how unscrupulous shops charge customers who are not car savvy and this would tell me if the shop is honest and I wanted to help my father-in-law because he sick, retired and living on Social Security, So why did I recommend my father-in-law to try this shop? Because they had a AAA sign. Too bad the AAA sign doesn't mean anything. So to cut the story short, they did a "test" , changed parts not related to the real problem, they just killed the check engine light on the p 2181 and charged more than 500 dollars -WITHOUT FIXING THE REAL PROBLEM. (The former owners would never do this) . This is ELDER ABUSE. So I went to the owner, David and confronted him and told him that I had the car scanned beforehand and they did not fix the real problem. I know he replaced some parts in order to make money but those were unrelated to the real problem, so I asked him to at least give my in-law some refund or I will report what he did to the Better Business Bureau, AAA and to the City. He said I can report and he will never refund anything. This is a clear case of elder abuse and I will advise everyone to be extremely cautious before doing business with this company. AAA should know that its reputation is being tarnished (looked at a similar review by another customer) by the unfair practice of this shop. I'm not saying don't go here, but don't tell me I didn't warn you. read more

I needed a smog check (registration was expiring in 2 days) Then my check engine light came on. AAA recommended 3 places for the smog check - I called at 8 am and Save On was the only one that answered the phone. The receptionist sensed the urgency of getting the check engine light resolved (with the least amount of repairs) so it would pass the smog check and we could review the situation after smog done. Instead of telling me why they probably would NOT be able to do this in time, she gave several options on how we could achieve our goal. I sincerely felt that they CARED and they wanted to help as opposed to trying to make money. I will definitely be taking the car back to complete the remainder of the work and I look forward to knowing they are just a call away! read more

This place was great my daughters car had alot of issues and they were great . We had recently purchased the car, the previous owner had changed the motor out but there were still things that kept going wrong. Save on Auto ran the vin # on engine and found out that the engine in car was for a different make car and that's part of why so many issues because we kept buying parts for our Camary when motor in it is a Scion TC. Save on Auto made alot of repairs and helped us out by even doing extra and as courtesy and only charging us for parts. I needed to find a shop for some work on a '98 Jetta, and came across this place on my search. I am so happy that I found them! Called late Friday afternoon to ask about replacing the belts and spoke to Ryan. Talk about great customer service! He was very helpful over the phone and said I could bring it in Saturday and he'd make sure they'd have time to look at it. I know for a fact that the car needs a lot of work, but when I went to pick up the car after the belt replacement and oil change, I didn't feel pressured to have everything done right then and there. When my clutch stopped working in the middle of traffic, I took a deep breath and said 'YES!" I can. Then, I manipulated my car to coast 3 blocks to my destination. I could have been really upset (especially when I found out I had missed my appointment - the reason for driving out to Ontario in the first place). Instead, here's what happened next by taking a deep BREATH and saying YES!" ... 1. Auto Club sent a tow truck driver who arrived in 15 minutes (on a Friday afternoon). Then, they made car rental arrangements for me. 2. The tow truck driver recommended SAVE ON AUTO CARE because they charge lower fees. 3. SAVE ON AUTO CARE took care of EVERY detail, added extra parts and services after my price was quoted so they could make sure the clutch work was done to their very high standards, then charged me only the ORIGINAL QUOTED PRICE, The work took 3 days longer than originally quoted. So, they also PAID MY CAR RENTAL FEE for 3 days (a savings of almost $500) 4. I arrived at the HERTZ rental office 2 minutes before closing.
