There are now two best pizza in Anchorage restaurants. You know the one. Saverio's is the second one. Had take out from them for the first time tonight and was not disappointed. We went with an order of garlic knots, and a Bianca (white) pizza (not Binaca, that would be horrible). Very basic, and very, very good. This is not a pizza where the crust gets tossed. Paired with a Kirkland Pinot Noir, and we have ourselves a nice meal in this beautiful summer evening. Can't wait to order from them again. read more

YESSS. Favorite take out pizza spot in Anchorage. Decided to try this spot on a whim after smelling the delicious smells of garlic as I left la bodega. I ordered the casino pizza and a meatball pizza plus garlic knots and my household will not go back to another take out pizza place again. Not to mention they serve slices if you need a quick bite. I am late to review Saverio's, I tend to do that to places I really love and it may be because I'm subconsciously trying to keep them a secret. Saverio's is the real deal, authentic Italian/Mediterranean style food dishes and pizza by the whole, and slice. The owner is from Naples, Italy and he is there everyday hustling behind the counter making every dish with absolute perfection. You can tell that he puts that love and effort into every single dish. You really can't find such quality food with their prices in Anchorage. By far one of my most favorite lunch spots! Tip: Everything is delicious here but do not skip over the salads! Mmmmmmmm. They have mastered the sauce- cheese- crust ratio here. The crust was very flavorful. Friendly service, clean facility, delicious food. You can order a whole pie or buy it by the slice- nice for our family of 4 with different favorites. I got a slice of margherita and a slice of the bruschetta appetizer. Move over ALL AK pizza places!!!!! THIS is the best place to go when you're craving some delicious pizza. Go for a slice or an entire pizza (Warning: going for just one slice, know you'll go again VERY soon). Second review, this time I came earlier but service was slow. Guess they weren't into full swing before the lunch crowd. I got a slice of pepperoni and a slice of meat lovers and a water. Total came to $12:20. Pizza is still average at best. I personally wouldn't go out of my way for this. Still can drinks only. One thing I noticed this time was the ingredients rack that was displayed in the dining room. After a quick visit to there website, they claim to use fresh local ingredients. I suppose using 90% Kirkland brand ingredients would be considered local since there is a Costco nearby. Lol Not trying to bring them down in any way and I am sure the majority of local businesses do the same thing. But don't be fooled into thinking otherwise. It isn't authentic Italian without authentic Italian ingredients. You have the same ingredients in your pantry at home. read more

Yes! When I come here I'm a one Pizza Guy! The white sauce Clam Casino on a thin crust! Everyone's probably had a white sauce pizza of some kind before but this is the one! CLAMS, BACON & CHEESE w/a Sprinkling of Orange Bell Peppers. It's dough is the key to the making of a great pizza. It's just a great quality pizza and we called ahead. We got our pizza rolling by calling it in by phone while we were on the way ... then we landed we had just about 5 minutes to wait. The hunger went away in minutes! Pizza Coma! I moved from Pennsylvania 19 years ago and have traveled all over the world and this is the best pizza that I've found since I left PA.

This place is AMAZING!! Today we wanted pizza for lunch before hitting the road to go fishing & stopped at Saverio's for lunch, the place was super clean & customers were enjoying their food. Went to the window where you can order pizza by the slice & boy do they have a selection to choose from. Nice large slices that vary on price, I believe 3.50-6.95. At 1st I ordered 1 slice then my husband ordered 2 then I'm like what the heck so I ordered 1 more.. I can always take it to go. I got the combination which was mushrooms pepperoni & sausage & it was the best slice. My 2nd was the bruschetta that I ended up sharing after my husband finished his 2 slices of jalapeño cheese ham & Hawaiian. I took my left over bruschetta to go (I may have to hide it) this is my new favorite pizza place!! The owners are super nice checking on you making sure you enjoyed your meal.We will have to come after work since they do sell adult beverages. read more

Heads up, Moose's Tooth. You have some serious competition just down the street. Saverio's Pizza is a family-owned pizzeria located at the Metro Mall at the old Originale location in midtown next to the Great Harvest Bread Company and Indigo Tea Café. The owner and his family are very friendly to everyone that comes in and immediately recognizes return customers like longtime friends. It definitely shows with the amount of the working crowd that arrive during the lunch hour. The dining area is cozy with pictures of Italy displayed around the walls giving the restaurant a warm Mediterranean feel. A large screen TV is propped up against the wall to keep diners occupied while waiting for their orders. I have eaten here many times on my lunch break and I can tell you the wait time is short no matter what you order on the menu. They smartly prepare all of the pizzas ahead of the lunch rush to sell them by the slice, one of the few places in town that provides this for their customers besides the aforementioned Moose's Tooth. The pizza here is some of the best I've had recently with an authentic New York style flavor as far as the crust and the delicious marinara sauce goes. My go-to these last few visits has been the Bruschetta Pizza (tomatoes, parmesan, fresh basil, garlic, olive oil, and balsamic vinaigrette), an Italian appetizer made Sicilian-style with square-shaped slices. The crispy texture of the dough and the combined ingredients make this a culinary masterpiece and one of their best offerings on the menu. The Stuffed Meat-Lovers Pizza was also delicious and filling with plenty of sausage, ham, and pepperoni in the middle of soft pizza dough. There are many items I can't wait to try out on the menu. Some of the standouts include the Clams Casino (white pizza with clams, bacon, garlic, peppers, and mozzarella cheese....I have to get this on my next visit!), the Prosciutto & Mozzarella panini (fresh mozzarella, basil, olive oil, tomatoes, and prosciutto imported from Italy), the Chicken Parmigiana sandwich (breaded chicken breast topped with marinara and melted mozzarella... I have yet to find one comparable to the Cedar St. Deli in New York when I was still living in Westchester County years ago), and the Canneloni (rolled pasta stuffed with pork, beef, and veal topped with a variety of Italian cheeses and marinara sauce). Giving Saverio's four stars for the good elements of the restaurant: it's a decent flat NY style pizza, the fold and eat kind, never busy for dine-in, easy and quick online ordering, lunch slices look great, service with a smile, enjoy the fresh-tasting crust & tomato sauce like it was homemade. Unfortunately, I have to rate every pizza next to Napoli's, that always has TONS of cheese and a garlic crust. All other crusts just don't compare, maybe that's cheating? They should put the garlic sauce from their garlic knots on the crust. Someone once told me to just ask that at a pizza place if I want that, should that just start to be my normal? Do people NOT want garlic butter on their crust? Anyway, the meat lovers "stuffed" pizza was delicious, with solid ingredients, had a layering just perfect for dipping in the sauce ($42). Cheese was a great entry point to enjoying the restaurant/style ($22). Garlic knots STOLE THE SHOW (adults and kids alike). Spendy and wish they had smaller sizes, all are 18". $70+ was a lot of pizza that lasted our family of 4 over a week to get through. Five stars for the slice of pep za and pep rolls! They were so good I forgot to take a picture. I ordered carryout through Yelp which works through grub hub. Super easy process especially if you have ApplePay set up on your phone. Is it sad that I miss Sabbaros? we always had that option at the mall in my hometown. I love NY style pizza!! The crust was thin but not too thin, crispy, and just the right amount of toppings. We also ordered a calzone And not sure if my taste buds are off cuz I'm a little under the weather but I wasn't into it. The size was awesome though!! This is my third visit here and it's absolutely amazing food with friendly service. My goal is to try everything on their menu this winter...Lolz. The food is truly authentic and their tomato sauce is super fresh. They're next door to Wild Scoops too, so nothing like a fresh and tasty calzone followed by a scoop or two of Wild Scoops ice cream. Really delicious! I had a slice of the meat lovers and Hawaiian pizza. They were both really cheesy and they did not skimp on the amount of pineapple on the Hawaiian. THANK YOU! A place that doesn't just give you 4 pieces of pineapple. Also, I prefer a thinner crust on my pizza and that's what they serve - thin and oh so crispy! My only gripe - I wish the stuffed meat lovers had more sauce in it (that might be due to the style of pizza though). I know they give extra marinara on top (or on the side by request) but it taste different having itbeing inside of the actual slice. I'd definitely go back. Our new go to pizza place in Anchorage. I discovered this gem while shopping at Metro Cooks. I'm from New Jersey and didn't think I could find NY style pizza here in Anchorage. I was very wrong. Saverio's cheese pizza is identical to NY. Very clean restaurant, affordable for Anchorage, friendly staff and there isn't a 45 minute wait on a Saturday night. (Looking at you Moose's Tooth on the last one mentioned.) The cheese pizza and bruschetta appetizer were my personal favorites. My husband loved his calzone as well. This spot was just what I was looking for. Coming from the East coast, it can be hard to find a slice that that hits the spot the way it does back home. I went two days in a row, first night I got a slice of margarita, pepperoni, and regular cheese. The next day I got a stuffed meat lovers (which was on their rotation so it wasn't a choice the day before, but that's one of the reasons I loved it cause there was a new option!) Both times everyone working was super sweet, prompt, and the whole thing was affordable. Plus they had San Pellegrino soda, which to me is a staple of the pizza place.
