Great quality breakfast diner with inexpensive food, the staff can be older grumpy people

First experience was average. The menu had a wide selection of options boasting average prices. The food was average- not spectacular, not terrible. The environmental atmosphere was dated and felt like a throwback to diners of yesteryear. I had ordered a seafood dish and requested lemons on the side. I was a bit disappointed to receive packets of powdered lemon flavoring in place of actual fresh lemon wedges. Not ideal or desirable but edible nonetheless. The service was average. I didn't get a warm/fuzzy feeling of welcoming hospitality, but it appeared to be busy. The bathroom was well kept and stocked. This establishment seems to be frequented by an older generation of patrons who seem to have become regulars. You can go wrong with a diner. Terrible food. The ketchup bottle is a Heinz bottle but if it really was Heinz, it was bad. If it wasn't Heinz, Heinz should make them stop reusing their bottles. We have been frequent weekend breakfast patrons for years but recently very disappointed. First they add a $1 for each breakfast entrée for weekends only. Hmmm I guess eggs cost more on the weekends but I feel very taken advantage of for this additional cost. Then you we able to upcharge coffee for an OJ for .75 on the numbered specials now they just charge full price if you upgrade to an OJ instead of the coffee/tea that comes with the breakfast item even when you don't get the coffee/tea. In my eyes this is just very very low business practice taking advantage of your devoted patrons. We will not be back there are plenty of other breakfast spots that will love our business. read more

We (vaccinated) returned here for breakfast after a lengthy pandemic hiatus to find Saville's essentially the same as we had left it. The primary difference were the COVID-19 protocols in place weren't consistently observed with some customers not wearing face masks and close counter seating. yet the employees were all wearing face coverings and the place was clean and well lighted. The food was as we remembered it, flavorful, not overcooked, generous portions, and fairly priced. The most memorable experience of our visit was with Janice, our server. She was not a "Chatty Kathy," yet she was pleasant, efficient, and attentive. We will seek her out on future visits. read more

Easily the worst atmosphere I've experienced in my life. The pancakes were like eating the dirty carpet in the vestibule. The sausage was brown and serve microwaved garbage. Since the old owner handed over the reigns to a new owner, it's still good, but the old attitudes of the well trained robot waitresses by the previous owner, is about 2% better. Go to a place that greets you with a great smile, good attitude, and good food. My wife and two coworkers tried here for the first time. Food was fine but it was also a working dinner. After they had been in there for a little over an hour they were approached by the manager or owner and told that they had been in there a while and they were closing at 8. They apologized but commented that the place was not very full and closing was stil 45 minutes away. They were told that if it had been full they would have been asked to leave!!! Wow!! I've grown up in Boyertown.... I grew up and got out. I come back to visit parents. There are many things I love about Boyertown and the small town feel, one of them is/was Savilles and its small town feel. I love that all the wait staff is horribly rude to you because they don't care. (I find it amusing and charming) What I have an issue with is the trip we made on Christmas Eve. It is a tradition at Savilles they only serve breakfast and they give you an added Christmas Eve Treat (of the beverage kind) We placed our orders and waited, we waited, we waited longer. at 30 mins we asked. We were told, "I don't run the grill don't ask me" (like I said charming) We watch the booth behind us, that was seated after us, eat and leave. More people were sat, ordered and ate. Still no food. We asked again, it had been an hour since we ordered. (We had to flag our waitress down and rudely ask her about our food... we were clearly being avoided.) "It's a small grill" was our response. Other people heard us asking and chimed saying, "I have seen it, it is a small grill. Did you order frech toast or pancakes, cause that will slow your order down!" The booth behind us was on their 3rd set of people, and these people were getting up and to pay their bill, we still had nothing and haven't seen the waitress for 20mins. We have now been waiting for over an 1 1/2 hours. No management was anywhere to be found. We left with full wallets, but empty stomachs, however we now know... you should only order eggs when it is busy. Even though pancakes and frech toast are on the menu, they really dont want you to order them.... It's a small grill! read more

I've been coming here since I was a teenager and the food continually amazes me. I have a penchant for eating well at breakfast and it shows when I come out here. Pancakes the size of manhole covers (you get three) and ham that isn't salty at all. Great fried potatoes, by the way. The maple syrup is unlike anything I've ever purchased at the supermarket. Lunch and dinner are equally good, though I often take these meals at home these days. The only thing keeping me from giving five stars is the service. Many (though not all) of the wait staff don't seem particularly happy to be there, and it shows. Attentiveness and timeliness are good, it's just that they never make you feel welcome when you are there. If you read the policy signs on the wall as you enter the restaurant, you get the feeling that it's "their way or the highway". I guess I'm not used to seeing a dining establishment taking this attitude with paying customers. Plkease note that they do not accept credit cards. read more

We have attempted to eat at Saville's a number of times in the past, but there is almost ALWAYS a long wait! And quite often, we simply don't have the time to wait. Well you should make the time. As far as diners go, this one is pretty darned good! We waited it out on Friday night and ended up having a very good meal at a very reasonable price -- even by diner standards. The roast beef was excellent, mashed potatoes and gravy were very good and the ham was tasty. I recommend this place if you aren't in a great hurry and want a great meal for cheap! Went here for breakfast recently after a friend raved about how her family almost always goes here for breakfast. This diner draws the senior citizens like no place I've seen in a while. It was almost like eating breakfast in the cafeteria at the old folks home, which is not bad mind you, just different. A word of warning that the breakfast food here is VERY greasy. How greasy is it you ask? I felt like my plate needed a diaper change there was so much butter/oil on my plate. I actually was blotting my home fries with my napkin because they along with my eggs were swimming on my plate. I'm usually not squeamish when it comes to greasy food but this was a bit much! The breakfast food is good but if you're counting calories, have high cholesterol or recently had a heart stint put in you should probably eat breakfast somewhere else. Which makes me wonder, what are all the senior citizens doing eating here!?! Maybe it's I Can't Believe It's Not Butter that they're using to cook with and I just didn't realize it. This place has great low prices and diner ambiance, with medium good food if you follow this caveat: order diner-type items (sweet potato fries, grilled cheese, pie, coffee, pancakes), and don't expect too much out of specials and entrees, which Saville's tends to screw up in juxtaposition with what you thought you were ordering. Just went there today for lunch and had one of the best experiences of a diner that reminds me of the 50s. The interior was very nice with booths colored with white stitched leather. It was a very nice small roomy diner. It was very fast service and the waitresses are very kind. The food is all homemade and tastes just like something came out one of the great 1950s diner. I recommend for lunch the chicken croquettes or the roast beef sandwich. Everything is to die for even the pies and cake for dessert which the bakers bake pastrys early in the morning. read more

You will have to wait, as this place is very popular with the over 65 crowd on the weekend. Once you are in the service is fast and friendly and the food is great. Extensive daily specials. Good food from a staff made of ice ... and not the "Cute" "Frozen" Disney characters.. but rather ICE COLD RUDE staff members. If it weren't for the fact that we spent all day in Boyertown at a Soccer Tournament and the restaurant was 5 minutes from the field and my three young children were STARVING we would have simply walked right out the door.... not that they would even care though... Lack of friendliness from the seating staff but not anything overly upsetting until we go to sit down. Our three little ones were tired, hungry and looking for some crayons to color with when the waitstaff placed our silverware and placemats down. Our boys asked the staff member politely if they had crayons and she says no, and so I then said, "Do you maybe have a pencil they could use?" and she responds with a snarky tone "Not on me." .... and then silence. No, Hey I'll go look for one for you... no nothing. Then out comes our waiter... she's literally about a percent more friendlier than the last lady. Just has no true interest in interacting with our children at all... very curt and seemingly irritated at the plain sight of us. It felt very uncomfortable and completely unfriendly. The food and prices were good.. which is the biggest shame because those two items are two thirds of what makes a good restaurant get more stars. CUSTOMER SERVICE, unfortunately for Saville, is extremely lacking and so the good food quality nor the affordable prices are even going to be a memorable part to our time at Saville. Instead we remember the Ice Queens we met there and the complete and total disrespect they showed to paying customers. Oh.. and I had every intention of telling the staff member at the checkout counter that I felt some sort of way about the way we were treated but go figure, she didn't even bother asking how anything was. I only eat here occasionally and only because it is convenient. The food is OK, the atmosphere is stuffy, and the waitstaff is unbelievably grumpy. Today I had breakfast with my daughter and grandson. We were approached by a waitress who did not great us simply threw the menus on the table and left. Another waitress came very quickly (we didn't even open the menus yet) asked if we were ready, we asked for more time, she practically stomped away without even a response. Coming back much later with a huff and a argument on how I wanted my chipped beef, in a bowl or plate. SMH. We were in complete shock by how we were being treated. This is the last time. I entered the diner and stood with my wife for 3 minutes, ignored by staff, before we were told to seat ourselves. But there was no seats. When we informed the staff we were reluctantly placed in the back dining room. I ordered French Toast snd bacon,and my wife ordered an omelette and hash browns. The food was delivered quickly, but the waitress complained about having to touch our hot plates. The French Toast was white bread dipped in egg and grilled. No cinnamon. No vanilla. No powdered sugar. Not French Toast. My wife's said the omelette was good. But the hash browns had no seasoning and were cold. As we ate the staff yelled across the diner discussing how some guy broke up with his girlfriend and how he has not told the girl how he feels. When the poor guy showed up, they told him how he must talk to the girl. I would not want the world knowing my dating problems. The hostess sat in the dining room to discuss and ordered that was called in. She ignored people standing at the counter to pay the bill. The lady had to walk back and ask to pay her bill. After she left we had to hear the staff discuss what a "bitch" the customer was for asking to pay her bill. Bad food. Bad service. Bad staff. I will never return. read more

Rude hostess, woman behind the counter is rude. Small children are not welcome as there is nowhere to put a car seat unless the dining room is open. The booths are not wide enough and they won't give you a high chair, sling or chair. When another customer tried to help me because I struggling to find somewhere to place my 6 month old the hostess then told him to "shut up" and "mind his business". Then when the very nice gentleman sat back down she continued to insult the man calling him nosey, he doesn't even work here, creepy and much more. It is already hard as a new mother to get out of the house but this whole situation was appalling. I am beyond shocked at the hostess attitude and language. read more

This place is the best diner I have ever been too. It constantly amazes me how fast the food comes out and the quality is great. Wide variety of interesting sides. Vegetables may not be fresh from the garden and are usually cooked til soft. But the fried breaded chicken breast was probably never frozen, probably breaded in the kitchen with a thin breading perfectly cooked tender and juicy. If I lived closer, I'd probably never cook again. read more

I ordered applewood smoked salmon. Dry and tuff. Frozen not fresh. I sent it back right away. They wouldn't take it off the check! They said we didn't do anything wrong, I just didn't like it. I ordered crabcakes instead and they weren't that good, tasted like they were pre bought frozen. Only good thing there was desert, a monster eclair, homemade and good. After reading all the reviews, I was wondering if I was eating at the same place. I didn't do breakfast and many reviews were on it. I come here at least every other Monday with a group of 6+ people at 5:30 pm. We never have a wait. Ok, we are senior citizens so we are accustomed to homemade not processed frozen food so we love the food. If you are used to fast food fare or chain food, you probably can't appreciate the homemade PA Dutch Style food. There are a lot of choices for seniors to have smaller portion meals. The hostess is pleasant and seats us promptly. We've never had a rude server. Our servers have always made multiple trips to check in us. Most dinners come with 2 sides even the smaller portion choices. Prices are low. I can eat a home cooked dinner cheaper than a Big Mac meal. The thing we appreciate most is how they run the restaurant to keep control of costs which get passed on to consumer. It is cash only. ATM available in lobby. They don't place sweeteners, etc. on the tables for people to handle and place a handful in their pocket. The drinks are served in a small glass but the price is way lower than any other place we dine and they give refills. Never could figure why other places you get a humongous drink for $2.50 when they want you to dine there too. The desserts are many and homemade. Yum! You get an eclair that can be shared easily. The most important thing for me personally is its cleanliness. You can't beat it. They close periodically and the place is sparkling everywhere. The decor is seasonal but very nice items not just window clings. We are never rushed and we appreciate receiving our check when food is delivered. The waitresses I've encountered are rude and off-standish. The last one I had didn't even smile once. When she came to our table she seemed annoyed that we didn't know what we wanted at first. The food was good, however as we were getting ready to leave, our waitress asked us if we were almost leaving because they were getting ready to close. That is completely understandable, however she said it with a tone of "hurry up and leave". I've never really had good experience with the servers here, so I won't be coming back. read more
