I've read the statements about the Saville's servers not seeming happy to be there or providing the most friendly of service, but if you were from the area it's sort of the PA Dutch way - nobody is too smiley or friendly. And my lord if I had to wear that ugly white uniform every day I'd be miserable too - can't these girls wear a polo shirt and pants/skirts? The uniforms are terrible, it's not 1962 anymore. Basic diner and PA Dutch style food (meat and potatoes, not spicy in any way). But what you must do is save room for dessert. The pies are outstanding, and whoever makes their chocolate eclairs should be given an award b/c they are just plain outstanding. Cash only. Not fancy. But you'll be full at the end and have some money left in your pocket. And yes, it's senior citizen, hard workin' kinda people that go here. I agree with all the negative reviews posted regarding this diner. A friend and I unfortunately visited this diner. The initial contact with the cashier at the desk was unfriendly and unapproachable. We stood at the entrance way for several minutes before she looked up and said, "How Many". She didn't welcome us to the diner or smile. The hostess was also lacking a smile and friendliness one would expect at a diner in a small town. The waitress was rude and barely spoke during our order. I ordered scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese and coffee. She placed the food on the table without speaking. The eggs were over cooked and the cheese was not melted. When I shared my concern regarding my eggs, she replied "That's the only way they are prepared". I asked her to take my plate and remove the charge from the check. As I waited for my friend to finish his coffee she returned to our table. She told us we had to leave because they needed the table. At that time the diner had several tables and counter space available. As we were leaving I shared my concern with the cashier. On our way out the hostess came charging after us yelling, "You had no right to complain, we told you to leave because you were here to long and you were taking up space"! I replied, "Your conduct is unprofessional and your extremely rude". She continued yelling at us in front of customers until we left the building. From the moment you walk in and see the giant outdoor ashtray and the signs that they only take cash, you don't exactly feel comfortable and at home. The waitstaff are short and to the point. Had the eggs benedict. Eggs wee over cooked. Potatos were under cooked. The waitress was seldom by our table. No one ever came by to refill coffee. I had to ask for more coffee. Or waitress was loud laughing and talking to the table behind me while standing art our table. The prices were good. The coffee was hot. My daughter was with me and that made breakfast a delight. She was here before and said the service was poor when she was here before ŵ my wife, her mom. They do not accept credit cards, but do have an atm machine, $1.50 charge. Savilles in my opinion is an old school Diner a lost art! I am so greatful for it and for how they have stuck to old traditions like the white uniforms and shoes. The meals are excellent and phenomenal desserts! Service is a bit delayed at times because they are very busy. I really like that you can get half portions! To me it's homey and very satisfying! I haven't seen my grandparents in a few weeks so I thought I would schedule a lunch with them to catch up. They recommend savilles diner so that's where we would meet. I thought my GPS was broken or I put in the wrong address because once I arrived I swore I was at a nursing home by the amount of elderly people, not a restaurant. We sat down at our booth which was just a couple of five gallon buckets for chairs and a hood of a car propped up with a folding chair. Odd I thought but quickly realized that it must of been for a culturally authentic small town feel. Our waitress who had two broken arms and an eye patch greeted us with a toothless smile. For the life of me I could not understand her thick hillbilly dialect so I just pointed on the menu of what I would like to order. We both agreed that the chicken sandwich (spelled: chiken sandwitch) was a good choice. After about 2 minutes our food arrived. My chiken sandwitch was clearly just a ten piece chicken nugget meal from McDonald's with a hoagie roll. I asked for a water but my waitress hissed along with the rest of the staff when I uttered those words. Only Mt Dew and Monster energy was served. Over all I appreciated the aesthetics of savilles. This place needs competition!! The waiters are RUDE and uncaring. The tables are way too close and instead of opening another section, make you wait in line for a seat. They've been getting away with this for years and really don't care. Did anyone ever hear of saying: "May I get you something to drink?". Not here. The waitress came to the table and greeted us with "anything to drink?". These people are not only rude, but lack personality! The food is TERRIBLE. I always give a place a second chance - well, I have been to Saville's four times in the past two years (trying to give yet another chance). Went there last week for lunch. Ordered a fish sandwich which came with soup and one side. Fish was deep fried (fine) but overcooked and near black and served on a stale picnic hamburger roll. Veg soup was bland. For the side I ordered what was described on the menu as fresh potatoes with parsley - wow! Potatoes were CANNED - no parsley, no spices, just dumped out of the can and warmed up. Yuk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My neighbor's pigs eat better than that. If you don't believe me, go there and see for yourself. I honestly don't see how they stay in business and why people continue to flock there. Someone needs to shut this place down and start all over - new management, new staff. I love this place. If you want a CLEAN old fashioned diner with waitresses who still wear white dresses and aprons. Real glasses. And real good diner food with great prices.. this is your place. One would think after reading all the negative reviews, the management of this diner would do something about how nasty the staff are. Perhaps they don't read Yelp. Been here twice recently, mediocre diner fare served by very unfriendly staff. Walked in an hour before closing and was told several times we needed to order and eat and get out by then. The second time my Wife had to go to the car to change our 2 year old and the waitress let me know we should not have been seated until all our party was really ready. Even the sign that says cash only seems to really say "eff you" the way it's worded. Go elsewhere until they start valuing customers. read more

This place is aweful. Customer service is terrible. Food was decent besides the long dark hair that was IN my sons toast. Our server dropped our check at the same time as our food which just showed how much she actually cared about my experience there. My boyfriend literally had to walk up to her with the hairy toast to have it replaced. And if it weren't for her having to bring back toast that wasnt hairy we wouldn't have seen her again. Didnt refill my coffee an didnt ask if we wanted dessert. Which my sweet tooth was craving something before we even got there. Cashier didnt even make eye contact for a split second and was too busy talking to some random old man to say a single word to me or ask how everything was. If I could rate this place zero stars I would. I work in a diner an if they gave me a chance I would turn that place upside down an force great customer service into all of them. I recently went out to this diner with my mother and grandmother, big mistake. Two of our burgers were over cooked and extremely dry. I ate one bite and had to send it back. It took so long for our waitress to come back to the table everyone else had already been finished eating by the time our waitress came back to check on us. We needed more drinks, in which she never refilled and she never came back to ask if the food was okay, she just brought the check 10-15mins later. This wasn't even the WORST part, the worst part was when i explained how my burger was cooked... i simply asked to replace it for something simple such as chicken fingers, (also keep in the mind the plate wasnt even touched, i only needed one bite to know it tasted horrible) she then informed me that she would charge me for BOTH of the meals. She then explained that, "that was the resturants policy"??? How can you make a policy about food prices not being refunded when someones meal is cooked wrong. Ridiculous, i was shocked and after arguing with me for 3mins.. she says "nevermind, ill take care of it".... I'll never go here again and strongly recommend no one else does either. Went to Saville's dinner in Boyertown because our 10 yr old was hungry and we left out of the house pretty early. Dinerwas clean bit dated with its wagon wheel lighting typical diner setting. Server was a typical middle age server that you would find in a typical Small town diner enough said wont go there.My son ordered chocolate chip pancakes apple juice and cranberry juice he said they were good hubby and I ordered cream chip beef over toast scrapple home fries and shared a fried sticky bun cream chip beef was horrible must of been from the day before watered down no flavor and the toast was soggy that's how I know they used water not milk to stretch it the hash browns bland and the topper was the scrapple the lazy wanna be short order cook deep fried the scrapple and to top it off the fryer grease was old you could taste it. When we complained to the waitress and told her to take it off the bill she did. When my husband went to pay for the bill the cashier gave us such an attitude she was just plain rude. Needless to say we will not be returning there ever because every red blooded American from Pennsylvania knows to you don't Deep fry scrapple. read more

I met a friend for dinner recently (we've been there before for a dinner date and didn't have a problem) but this time, the service was TERRIBLE. When we arrived, the hostess walked us to our table, simply tossed the menus onto the table, and kept on walking. We ordered and ate our meals - the food was fine and the waitress was nice. We sat and chatted for a bit after we finished eating, and the hostess came back and asked us to "wrap it up" because we had been there "a REALLY long time..." We were there for an hour and a half! She said they needed to flip the table and get it ready for incoming customers. There was not ONE customer waiting at the door when we went to pay our bill, and there were multiple empty tables throughout the restaurant. I went there with our Car Club and there were 18 of us... There was no problem getting seated after like 5 minutes. The food here was great! with good things you don't get everyday. Sweet potatoe fries, fry cauliflower, baked lima beam and much more. Prices are great too! wish we lived closer to here. We would be here all the time. Was there Sunday afternoon 11/8--Where do I start?? First, this has to be the only diner on the planet that does not offer full breakfast all day (only eggs). Also the only restaurant I've ever been to that does not take credit cards. But they do have an ATM machine in the lobby- so if you don't walk in the door with cash already in your pocket you effectively have to pay a surcharge to eat here. Is the owner that cheap that he or she cannot afford the small bank fee (which they can write off anyway)? Also the only diner I've ever been to that did not offer soup and/or salad and bread with a full dinner. Can you say CANNED green beans?? They don't make 'em like this anymore. My favorite diner -- great food, fast, and in a charming environment that is sparkling clean. Prices are reasonable, and I've never had anything there that wasn't good in the 25+ years I've been going there, ever since I was a kid. There aren't any frills -- don't expect smiles and small talk, or anything fancy from the menu, but the specials are usually great, and food often arrives to your table astonishingly fast. The food is amazingly consistent. Drinks are small, and you'll likely have to ask for a refill on your own, but you do get a free refill. They have a habit of giving you your check when they bring your food to you, which might be off-putting for some. The place can be busy and may have wait times during peak hours; it generally draws a very elderly crowd. Pies, cakes, and eclairs are all homemade and AMAZING -- make sure to save room (or take something to go). They close for a week or so the first week of July to clean the place, which is one of the reasons why it's always very clean. I hate this place. Tried it twice. Yes, I was dumb to think the second experience would be different than the first. First off, both times got the same waitress. She was mean the first time. Think she'd change the second time. Nope! Shes one of those people who you say to yourself "if its really that bad find another job". I had one glass of water. Left thursty because the waitress never made it back to refill our drinks. I order a beef pot pie. Worst ever! I dont even know how they can say this is pot pie. It was basically a bunch of nasty noodles in beef broth. It had 3 chunks of beef and 4 carrot slices. I ordered it with french fries, that were pretty uncooked. The only thing good about my dinner was the dinner rolls. And guess what. They were store bought. If you and your family are looking for a good place to eat, stay away from here. Waste of money!
