Went this week with a group of 6. Had never been there before. If you haven't, this is a very sizable restaurant / function hall tucked in the back of Woonsocket. The function hall (which I didn't see) is upstairs and hosts functions and also a weekend brunch from what I gather. Going down the lower level/restaurant was like going back in a time capsule. I keep reading there were renovations, but the place looks like something from the 70's, not necessarily in a good way. Though there were very few customers, the reservation was messed up, service was generally slow with a young waiter who was friendly but not a very efficient server. Everything took a long while, including first drink order and then 2nd round later. Surprising note, I like craft beers, and there were 2-3 on tap, but they told us that were out of stuff like Bud Light which I don't I've ever experienced at a restaurant before. Worked out for me, not so much others in the party who might have opted for. We had apps and entrees. Calamari and Bruschetta were good. Veal Saltimbocca with both dry and tough, strange because you usually get veal specifically because it's supposed to be tender. I can only assume it was pre-cooked and sitting in a heating tray. Side of paste overly oily and garlicy, and just not cooked well. One other diner had a problem with inaccurate seafood part of his entree, which was also several minutes late to the table compared to all of the other entrees. Other people had various pasta dishes and said they were fine. App and entree prices were OK. I can't speak for the brunch or functions, but service and food-wise, I would not go back. I didn't care for the decades-old outdated looks either, but some folks might find it interesting. read more

We are never disappointed when we eat at Pomodoro. My boyfriend and I are both foodies with very picky pallets. We've eaten here multiple times through the pandemic for takeout, dine-in, and outdoor seating. Our favorites: veal or chicken parm, veal or chicken Marsala, ravioli with bolognese, alfredo, calamari appetizer, their new pizzas, and the peach sangria. That sangria is addictive. Typically it's a nice place to go. Male bartender with dark hair in a ponytail wasn't very friendly and was definitely more task oriented and not focused on customer service. He seemed agitated when I asked him what was in something on the menu. I didn't give my order quick enough so he just took off to the other end of the bar to work on doing dishes. It felt stressful sitting there and I would've moved to a table if there was one available. The other bartender was definitely more friendly but serving other customers. Place was fairly busy but there were several open seats at the bar. Food is ok. Menu online doesn't match menu they give you. Entrees only come with one side and you have to add on salad bar if you want salad. I was surprised it was an open salad bar given Covid. Our happy bartender asked if we wanted bread and got it from the salad bar. I passed on the bread and salad. read more

Went about a week ago to the new Pomodoro and were both VERY impressed. We started off with the 8 oz meatball appetizer and you could tell it was extremely fresh and homemade. I had a peach Bellini and an Italian sunrise after my entree. Both were good! Entrees were amazing! Our server was so sweet and very friendly and personable. Stopped here for an impromptu date night. I have been to Savini's many times in the past as I am a local. However, I had not come since they reopened under the Pomodoro name. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised that this gem is now in the city. We sat at the bar but still had access to the full menu. Our bartender was very friendly and very attentive. As a matter fact my husband did not like his beverage choice and she said she would make him something else, no charge. They had a scallops special on the board however when we asked about it the bartender had not heard about the scallop special. She asked one of the hostesses (?) owners (?) who came over to talk to us. She said that she would go back to the kitchen and ask The chef to make us something with scallops if we wanted. I was very impressed with her attention to detail and wanting to please her customers. We did decide on two fish dishes that were accompanied by a delicious spaghetti side dish. Can't say enough about Savini's Pomodoro. They recently catered an event we had for about 250 people. We chose to do a brunch buffet for the event. Charlene, the event manager, along with Jill Savini, the chefs and staff were very accommodating, attentive, and professional. They went above and beyond to ensure that everything went smoothly. The food was hot, delicious and served in an orderly and timely manner. Everyone at the event commented on how good it was. With tickets to see Chicago at the Stadium theatre in Woonsocket, we were looking for a good Italian restaurant nearby. The theater's list of recommendations brought us to Savini's Pomodoro Kitchen and bar. What we found was a surprise. Located in an older residential neighborhood is a building that makes you want to see what they got. If you like good Italian then you will find "better than good " Italian. I tried my favorite chicken picatta with a delicious risotto. The fresh baked Italian bread was very good. Sorry, no room for dessert. My wife had the delicious bacon wrapped sea scallops. All that and reasonably priced. You will love this 5 star Italian restaurant. read more

June 15, 2013 - I woke up on the morning of Fathers day at my boyfriend's house. He is a father, so he wanted to go somewhere for breakfast, and I know his first thought is Ihop. I had to go to work later, and I knew that Ihop would have a huge wait, being fathers day and a Sunday, around noon, after church gets out. We started out of his driveway, and across the street is Savinis, so we decided to give it a try. Big mistake, and here's why. We walked in and waited to be seated for about five minutes. Longer than usual, but we didn't let it bother us. A waitress finally greeted us, and brought us around a corner and we were sat behind the desert buffet table. There were plenty of open booths near the sunny side of the restaurant, but we were sat in the dark. We were finally greeted by our waitress, who talked to us over the dessert table, and informed us that we could get out food when we wanted. The hot food was on one buffet table, and the desserts and fruit were on another. The hot food consisted of the following: scrambled eggs, bacon strips and sausage links, Texas style french toast, tater tots, home fries, and biscuits and gravy. I picked up tater tots, french toast, bacon, and biscuits and gravy. Here's where the next problem arises. The food all tasted like it came out of a freezer. You could tell most of it was because it was all uniform in shape and size. The ladle for the gravy was inside the container, so it was hot to the touch. The only thing I really enjoyed was the biscuit and gravy, and the french toast wasn't bad. We were brought out complimentary juice, which we had no choice over and were brought orange juice in a four ounce glass. The waitress never came back to the table, except to take my boyfriend's plate, and leave his silverware on the table, not on a napkin, which was on the other side of his plate. I went after and paroused the dessert table, and noticed it was the same story. There was a bowl of fruit that was definitely fruit cocktail from a can in an over-sized bowl. They had danish cubes that were cut from danishes from a bakery. While we were sitting at the table, we looked around on the floor to notice that our floor was the only one with dirt around it. To round off the entire visit, I had to get up and find a waitress to pay for our bad meal. I eventually found one, who was snappy and rude to me when I told her we had had bad service. Our waitress eventually brought our bill to the table, and we paid and left. My main issues with the visit were that the food was obviously not fresh, the waitress acted like we didn't exist, and there was barely anyone in the restaurant, so they cannot say it was busy. I came to Savini's for the first time in ages for dinner with my grandmother. I got the Anna Savini's Combo which consisted of 2 Stuffed manicotti, sausage, meatball, & roasted peppers served with fries, soup or salad. The manicotti was meh at best but everything was good not great. One good thing about Savini's is it is very reasonably priced for Italian Food so not a bad place to eat in Woonsocket. Savini's also has a Sunday Brunch Buffet. If I was reviewing this place just on their Brunch it would be 5 stars. I was very impressed with the selection, the quality, and the price. I understand that it is a challenge to get good staff these days. I consider myself a patient person. Being served food with no silverware or plates(we ordered family style chicken) and having to wait over 45 minutes for beverages and being overcharged for beverages we didn't receive, would have lead many being unhappy. But that was the most tolerable aspect of the experience. The worst was being served the driest chicken and most overcooked potatoes I have ever eaten at any Northern RI restaurant. No one asked us how the food was...I'm guessing they knew based on the shriveled up platter of scrawny legs and breasts and dried out potatoes we were served. read more

Went for dinner last night after booking the function hall upstairs. The prices for the food and drinks were very reasonable, especially for the portion size. Our waiter, Avery, was amazing. He was very professional, despite me trying to catch him off guard. I will actually request to be seated at his table again when I return. My fiance had the baked haddock and risotto and I had the chicken parmesan and angel hair. They were both delicious. My only complaint keeping from a 5 star review is the fact the salad bar was not super maintained, with many vegetables running seriously low as well as the bread at the end. read more

Absolutely the worst service that I've ever experienced in my 55 years of life! Party of 16. Two waitresses. Waitresses repeatedly came back to our table to ask what we ordered, because they wrote the orders down wrong. One waitress couldn't pronounce several menus items! Drinks took 25 minutes to get to our table ONLY , because I went to the bar and asked where they were! The bartender NEVER received the drink ordered from the waitresses!!! A member of our party left, because the service was so lax! Sangria was spilled on a party members pants. Bread/ butter wasn't offered while we were waiting for our meals. Meal wait was 1 1/2 hours! We had an 11 year old child, a special needs and a pregnant woman with our party. We were offered a 10.00 gift certificate for our inconvenience!!! ‍ The waitresses disappeared and we did not see them for the last hour of our dinner. Water decanters were not replenished. We waited 1/2 hour for our checks that were extremely messed up, and the manager was loosing her shit! One of our parties credit card was charged wrong! Several of us spoke straight out to the manager on that night and she was inept in her position. All she said was ok, oh, sorry. Definitely WAS NOT acceptable! Side dishes were delivered 15 minutes after several meals. Extremely slow. We arrived at 6:30 and FINALLY got out of Savini's close to 10:00! 16 people along with word of mouth will not be going back to Savini's! Just left Pomodoro Restaruant. My husband had the family style chicken. The chicken was bone dry. he has to had vinegar to moist it. I got the Margherita pizza. I am a vegetarian. My pizza had no basil on it and had the remnants of a meatball on it!!! I will never eat there again. Bad food!!! read more

Years ago, we attended many functions at Savini's as well as meeting friends for dinner there. The food was good, but since the renovation, something amazing has happened. Savini's "Pomodoro" has become very special in many ways. Each Friday night, we enjoy the fantastic soup and bread bar that is provided for all in the beautiful lounge. The soup crock and two kinds of bread complete with oils, vinegars, and butter are set up in an attractive area resembling a European-like cafe that is covered with an eye-catching black and white striped canopy. The lounge has a large welcoming bar and is surrounded with tables and booths accommodating large and small parties. Servers are so friendly and consistently aim to please. The food is tasty, but the specials are extremely noteworthy - with my favorite being their braised beef served with a scrumptious risotto. I have ordered appetizers, sandwiches, entrees, and desserts, and have not yet been disappointed. What is greatly appreciated is both their liquor and food prices are reasonable. In the last few months, they have featured entertainment. The outstanding, talented and exciting Tony Cerbo sings and he very much adds "the icing on the cake," making the evening a very affordable, entertaining, and truly a pleasurable one. Had a small wedding dinner here last week. Everything was fantastic! Charlene is a pro and made everything so easy! We had passed apps and a select menu for our guests. Everything was hot and tasted delicious. We were in one of their downstairs rooms and we had plenty of room to socially distance our guests while being separated from the main dining room. I had been here maybe 5-6 times before the renovation and the food was ok.. nothing like today! Just came from lunch and it was fantastic. Had the $7.99 lunch special and the portion was easily a dinner portion. The eggplant was fresh and still had a nice crisp breading even with the sauce. Risotto was nice and cheesy. Complimentary soup and bread bar was an extra awesome bonus. The Italian wedding soup was yummy. Definitely will be going back! read more

I always get the eggplant Parmesan every time we go because it is out of this world delicious! The all you can eat soup and bread bar is a nice touch. Very disappointed in Easter brunch. We had a 2:30 reservation and it was completely rushed. We had to beg for a beverage and while we were eating they started moving tables and vacuuming. Additionally, they asked us for the payment of our bill twice. The final straw was someone walking around asking the last few tables if they were done with the food on the buffet. They shouldn't offer a reservation that late in the day if they can't treat the customers as if they were the first reservation of the day. To go up for seconds was not even an option. Nope. Don't go. We went to Savin's just as the renovation was wrapping up when they had a partial menu many months ago. It was okay. Put it on the to do list for a later date. Enjoyed dinner late one Friday night in January. It was better than okay. This Friday, March 8, we dined at the bar. Not even close to an okay. The bartenders were inattentive and thought the other was waiting on us. It was not easy to get their attention and when we did we had to ask for the specials and they were rattled off at a rapid NASCAR pace. It took awhile for the drinks to arrive, to order and receive appetizers, and finally place entree orders. When asked for a particular condiment the bartender said " I will ask my manager when she walks by". She then came around the bar to the empty stools next to us and wiped down the bar. Score a star for cleanliness. The swordfish was small, lacked flavor, and was more of a frozen dinner. The chicken family style was dry. The manager was never asked and the condiment never brought. Maybe cranberry sauce is only a November thing? I found the menu choices to be slim. They could use a couple steak/beef additions. I wanted to Embrace Savini's as it was a childhood favorite in the early 80s. They may be shooting for the stars, but they have fallen flat. And what is with that white formica slab at the end of the bar? Ouch! read more

I am so so sorry. I have never posted a negative review before, and usually think if you dont have something nice to say, say nothing. BUT, I cannot express my absolute disapointment over this restaurant.. and if you are thinking of having an event there... think twice. I chose to spend my birthday having dinner here... I bought very pricey tickets to a a charitable event they were hosting. I expected an elegant evening, and a wonderful gourmet food experience. I looked forward to it for weeks! But the food was nearly inedible. Grilled peaches on my cheese covered salad? Pork and terribly overcooked risotti with what had to have been frozen veggies. It was like cafeteria meal! And the desert that no one could identify, some kind of marshmallow scented play doh. All that money, and my special day.... so so let down by this experience. Never again =( read more

Gee, what happened to this old time favorite? Went to dinner the other night with some family members. We all chose seafood plates. I chose blackened swordfish. The meal started with a small salad which was fine. Then my dinner came. My first bite of fish was so tough and overcooked I couldn't even chew the thing. Then I cut into one of my roasted potatoes and it was rotten on the inside. I sent my dish back asking for a piece of fish that was not overcooked. Our waitress was very good. She seemed to always be apologizing for something. When I finally got my dinner, nearly everyone else was done eating. Not too great. Anyhow, this piece of fish was much larger and thicker and not overcooked, however, it had a funny flavor. After eating half I had to stop. On and the roasted potatoes? They gave me a baked potato instead. I never even cut into it considering it wasn't what I ordered. My sister was very disappointed with her lobster ravioli as well. The food was very poor. And again, the not having coke products forced me to just have water,, which everyone else did too. This IS NOT the place I remember when I was growing up. Except for the dark dated décor. That hasn't seemed to change. Hate to come back to Woonsocket for a visit, go to a place I have such great memories of, and have them shattered. Needless to say, I will not be back. read more

Came for Sunday brunch made reservations and no one called us to tell us that they were closed due to one inch of snow. ONE INCH! We live in new England!No one bothered to call us. 11 people including my grandmother managed the fierce one inch blizzard to get to the resuarant. Loved the calamari and my drink was amazing but when it came to the meal (surf and turf) twice the steak was brought to the table extremely overcooked and the waitress telling me that RI law prevents them from cooking steak rare... We were charged for 8 coffees and only 4 of us had coffee; total coffee cost; $16.00, we asked for water and instead of getting a glass of water for free, they gave us bottled water and charged $2.25 per bottle. Go figure, we were never asked if we wanted bottle water, I assumed something was wrong with the tap water. A sneaky way to padding the bill. For dessert, we had one apple pie, two pecan pies, and one pumpkin pie. They charged us for 5 pies instead of 4 @ 5.95 a piece. They then proceeded to automatically add a 20% tip. I was in for dinner tonight and waited over an hour to get our food. About half way through that wait time we commented to our server who brushed it off and then he promptly disappeared. I flagged another server down and asked for the manager. When she (Heather) finally came to our table she was also dismissive and full of excuses as to why it took so long. " running a promotion ", "everything is cooked to order" and the best..."sometimes ticket times get away from us and it's like a sh:t show in here". So professional. I've worked in food service and know that communication with your tables and watching ticket times is key. Very disappointed. read more
