I've had bad experiences at Savory in the past. The food and service were poor. It's been a few years so I thought I'd give it another try. My bad! I should have gone with my past experience as a guide. The service was very bad. Had to ask for every simple item - napkins, water refill, ketchup for fries, the bill, etc. Perhaps the waitress was inexperienced, but no excuse for the simple common sense stuff. The food was very mediocre. You know the feeling when you leave a restaurant full but nauseous and unsatisfied? That's Savory. Ordered a gyro - meat was cold and no tzatziki sauce on the sandwich. Meat tasted stale and old. Menu claimed fresh sliced meat - I claim b.s. Wife ordered split pea soup. It was a disgusting bizarrely thick blob of pea sludge. Shame on me for going back. Never again! Don't waste your money at Savory. There are so many other diners and restaurants nearby. I can't understand how this place stays in business. read more

Dependably fresh, delicious and reasonable-priced Greek inspired food. The menu has lots of choices for everyone's tastes. The portions are generous and the service is friendly. I live nearby and LOVE that they also have a drive thru to run pick up carry-out as well! read more

I just wanted to report the amazing experience that I had at the Savory Restaurant tonight. 1st of all... they the (Savory family) , as many of our local establishments are experiencing a problem with limited help. But, may I say as I sit in my own private booth ,that tonight was no exception to my previous experience. This establishment run by a local family has the heart to service our local and visiting families. With obvious pride and the dedication you don't see in the local corporate Restaurants. The quality of food and service is no less than amazing. I have seen high school servers work their way through college working at the Savory , and returning guests come in and say ...I'm so happy you're still here. Happened upon this place on way home from beach. Saw it got nice reviews to stopped in. Friendly staff, very prompt! I ordered chicken Caesar Wrap with Greek potato salad and it was phenomenal. Homemade dressing, grilled chicken was perfect! What made this meal superb was the potato salad. Very flavorful, had some crunch :) My sister got the burger which was equally tasty. Had breakfast here the first time I went and it was excellent. I got a skillet which included country fried steak, scrambled eggs biscuit and a scratch made gravy. It was stick to your ribs stuff, and a good time. My second outing was for lunch. Trying to eat a little healthier and went with the chicken teriyaki with mushrooms. Wow... Two huge chicken breasts with a teriyaki glaze, covered with fresh mushrooms and sides of rice pilaf and fresh cut veggies. So much flavor! Was worried it's be bland, but it really delivered! Two for two in my book warrants a five star review for this little Greek inspired neighborhood restaurant. Can't wait to try the Greek dishes. I've lived in this area for many years and drove by this place on numerous occasions, but never took the time to try it out. I visited with my kids one evening just prior to one of their school events. We didn't have much time but we didn't want fast food either. The service was fabulous, quick and very friendly. We ordered some dressed up potato chips that had bacon and cheese and they were absolutely amazing. I ordered one of their salad which was very large and dressed to perfection. My son had their turkey bacon wrap which was huge and overstuffed, the same held true for my daughter's chicken wrap. It has now become a family favorite. read more

The ribs are very, very good as are all of the entrees and we've probably ordered most of them over the past 3 years. Service can be a bit slow but not unreasonably so. Can't recommend the breakfasts; worst breakfast potatoes I've ever had; soft, mushy and flavorless. The breakfast prices are approximately 25% higher than other locally owned breakfast places. When you first walk in, it is cozy and comfortable. The waitress, Anna, was quick to greet us and give us a take out menu. There is alot on the menu including breakfast all day. I ordered the chicken Rocco and my husband had the lasagna and we both chose the soup. I had chicken noodle and he had the clam chowder. It didn't take very long to get our food. The package was extremely heavy when we walked out. When we opened the dinners, I couldn't believe there was that much food. The soups were amazing and homemade tasting. The chicken Rocco was creamy and out of this world delicious. There is enough left over for tomorrow night. The prices are nice depending on what you get. Tonight we had GREAT service from Melissa and enjoyed the early bird special of fish n chips and corned beef and cabbage for st pattys day. I like this place. I may have found a new favorite near home. This is a small family owned restaurant. It has a very homey and family feel when you walk in. The staff is eager to help you and provide good service. I tried the spanakopita. It was great. Crispy filo dough on the outside wraps spinach, spices, and cheese. The taste is great. The filo dough is crispy and not soggy in any way. The veal parmesan was very tasty. A very large piece of veal atop a bed of spaghetti topped with a lot of cheese. We are visiting the area and we were super excited to try Savory. It was a pretty disappointing dinner. One of our kids got the grilled cheese and it was like Kraft singles on some white bread. I got the breaded shrimp basket and more than half of the pieces were breaded with tails on and not deveined, it was REALLY off putting. Husband had pasta with crab meat and had a few gritty bites, also off putting. We mentioned the shrimp to the server - cause that's just gross to not have the shrimp cleaned - and she said she'd mention it to the kitchen, but that they don't bread their shrimp in-house. What a difference a year makes! When I first came to this area and decided I would relocate here I had breakfast with a friend at the savory. My recollection was the breakfast was delicious from start to finish with great service. This time however the pancakes I ordered were soggy scrambled eggs tasted watered down and the only outstanding item on the dish was the link sausages which were delicious. Being a coffee lover I was really disappointed not only in the taste of the coffee, But they actually serve nondairy creamer instead of half-and-half which is sitting on the tables. The gyros were out of the world good.....and I am from Chicago with a ton of gyro places. The greek potato salad was a very yummy surprise. My husband had the fish fry and it came with super fresh mixed veggies and fries. The fish was fresh battered and huge. The kids grilled chicken breast was a huge portion. Savory restaurant is an establishment we had planned to go to for a while...it was a good meal and experience. Parking was a non-issue and the location is on the main thoroughfare in Largo/IRB area. The menu for dinner was diverse...plenty to choose from for any and all in your party.... Greek, Italian, and American. Prices are very reasonable. The service was attentive and quick. One item (and this is a personal issue for me) - I ordered the gyro platter and the salad came on the same plate...never been a big fan of combo plates with everything together. I just picked up $50 worth of food today at Savory and one of the orders was a chicken souvlaki pita sandwich. When I got home about 20 minutes from the restaurant I opened my food and instead of tzatziki sauce they put sour cream in. So I called and spoke to the manager and he told me I could come back and get the tzatziki sauce and I told him I was 20 min away from the restaurant. Then he told me to hold on and he put a waiter on. So I told the whole story to the waiter. Then the waiter said I would have to talk to the manager so she put the manager back on. The manager came back on and said he would give me a $1 credit or I could come in and get a $5 coupon later. I told him I bought $50 worth of food and he should really credit back the chicken souvlaki sandwich @ $11.49 because it's not a chicken souvlaki sandwich without the tzatziki. He then yelled "I DONT CARE WHAT THE HELL YOU WANT" and he hung up on me. I was so shocked because we are locals and have been going there for years. I had the Bebe burger and was very happy with the way it was cooked and the toppings! My husband had Salmon Aneto with parmesan dill sauce, and he said it was very good. Lasagna was nothing like in years past. It used to be a delicious giant rectangular prism of pure layered legitimate joy. Real lasagna. Now it's little noodles and sauce with sub par tasting ground beef, no cheese, in a bowl, no large plate full. It's basically the equivalent of what I'd call "premium" canned pasta. But the price is just as high as always. I have faith that the skillets and omelettes would still be great, but I'm just assuming at this point though.
