The avocado was fresher than fresh topped with softshell crab and shrimp tempura. The eel sauce and sweet and white sauce topped everything off to perfection. If you like sushi, please visit. Ordered through DoorDash, I was looking for a cheaper alternative to my fav sushi spot. I was impressed with my sashimi! Fish was fresh and melted in my mouth! My yellowtail jalapeño app had a sweeter sauce than I am used to, I prefer just a light yuzu sauce, but I still enjoyed it. My husband didn't care for his chicken fried rice but absolutely loved his dragon roll. I can't comment on ambiance or service as this review is based on a take out order. With all that said I will definitely order sashimi and rolls here again but avoid the fried rice next time. Horrible service. I've been a customer for the last two years. They messed up my order. I drove 25 minutes and brought them the order they gave me which was wrong. So I can get my order. The "owner" and older asian man said he would remake my roll another day. I showed up to redeem my order that was supposed to be remade and they told me it was my fault. Time too talk about Uber Eats...was a little afraid to order this because I live in California and my son is living in Colorado, but it was his birthday today and I wanted to do something special. I found this place on Yelp, and specifically ordered from here because of all the mostly good reviews this Sushi restaurant has on the site. My son was not able to come in, so I sent it over Uber Eats and I must say how excited he was to receive such an amazing meal. I ordered 4 sushi rolls and some other items and he got them exactly when the time slot came up. So judging on the food only: fish = fresh, big pieces of fish, rice flavorful, real wasabi! Some sushi joints will skimp out and give these small slices of fish but this place gives you the fish. Menu is divided into price sections, the picture on yelp is outdated. We got three special rolls, two regular and a hand roll, with yellowtail seaweed salad, and did I mention real wasabi. This place is a gem. The restaurant is a bit small but I love that about sushi joints. Give it a go you won't be disappointed. Let me start by saying that I love sushi... and that I am posting this much later than originally anticipated... I really enjoy trying new and different things whenever I have the opportunity and Sawara definitely delivered! My sister and I were getting pretty hungry and had a long-standing rain check to get sushi together. With COVID, there weren't really any places we had the option of visiting in person, so we decided to order in. My sister found Sawara after a quick search and we were able to see the menu on their website. The search results didn't list delivery as an option, so we gave them a call and a nice man on the other end of the line confirmed that they were able to provide delivery service through a third party (DoorDash). In today's world, delivery has become the popular option among those that would rather not venture out to get a bite to eat. While I totally understand that, I'm not really a huge fan of these large third party delivery companies; for many, the fees tend to pile up but the restaurants and delivery staff don't end up seeing very much of the profit... but I digress. We placed an order for a handful of rolls - about a 50/50 split between vegetarian choices and non-vegetarian choices (mine were the non-veg... and pretty spicy to boot!!). I forget exactly what each roll was called, unfortunately, but we received our order within the quoted window with a jolly text message from the delivery person when it arrived. He double checked our order to ensure it included utensils, soy sauce, extra sauces my sister had asked for, and napkins which I appreciated so sooooo much as there have been many times details are overlooked in cases where there are some pretty detailed requests. Both my sister and I thoroughly enjoyed our rolls and frequently furrowed our brows at one another to convey an "I didn't think this would be so yummy" sort of look lol. The fish - in my case - was so unbelievably fresh and tasty and each flavor written in the menu description was well accounted for after each bite. My sister loved her veggie rolls as well... we mutually agreed that this would be a meal we would be glad to put ourselves into a food coma for! LOL. I see nothing but improvements to this restaurant. I do know they have other locations but this is the only location I have been to. They do have lot of choice. Pages and pages of roll menu. It was very confusing for the first timer at this location. I ended up ordering several and they do taste ok. Just watch out for the hottest rolls that has slices of super hot jalapenos that will make your sweat break out. 1. better ventilation to get rid of funky smell. 2. better menu presentation. This place deserves accolades! Great fresh & high quality sushi, huge variety of rolls, excellent pricing (why would anyone buy sushi at WholeFoods, for example, when it's no where near this level, not as fresh and more $$). This "fast-food" version of sushi rivals anything else in town, even the traditional style sushi restaurants. I've had sushi all over the country and find this little Castle Rock sushi restaurant to be a true gem. Added bonus: the owners are super friendly and we've never once had a to-go order with an error (out probably 50 orders). Perfect, beautiful sushi every time. They are very serious about their business and the quality of what they offer...very healthy rolls and not the gross deep fried BS that so many places have; IMO that is not real sushi-it's adulterated and unhealthy. Sawara's is authentic, legit sushi. Some may not be able to appreciate that but if you are a true connoisseur, you will appreciate the consistency and purity. Sauces are creative and provide uniqueness (ex, the Red Sea roll with "Habanero Lemon Sauce" and the Sunshine roll with "lemon ginger sauce." and there are great options for spice-lovers (Fireblast roll for ex--we like with spicy mayo)...Other favs are New Sawara, Dragon Gone Wild, Sweet Dreams, Crazy Love & Pina Colorado for something a little sweet. Sashimi and nigiri is also excellent--generous cuts and always very fresh. They even have "no rice" rolls (we love the Evergreen) and gluten free and Vegetarian options. Ordered this through DoorDash after looking at reviews for anything sushi. I always fear any delivered sushi but I was craving it and I couldn't drive after a surgery so I gave it a shot. And it was very good! I didn't do anything too exotic - rainbow roll, crunch roll, californja roll, and shumai and all were delicious. The crunch roll had a little too much topping for my taste but just a personal choice. I took away one star because this ridiculous amount of wasabi I keep seeing has GOT to stop! I had 24 rolls to eat with ONE, no exaggeration, 2 millimeter-size dollop of wasabi. I've heard there's a bit of a shortage but I can still get it in the store, so it's not that short. At least figure out a way to ask people if they want more than virtually no wasabi, because for some people like me, it's a critical component of the sushi experience. Unfortunately I didn't have any in my frig, so I had to suffer through with a micro bit on each roll. First world problems yes; still not acceptable in the first world when you already pay premium for the food and you have no easy way of getting the missing item for the time you want to eat the food. read more

Low cost, decent quality, clean spacious atmosphere. I had sashimi, and while it could have been cut a lot better (the slices were thick, and sometimes even a little tough) it was fresh and clean tasting. My wife and I have been fortunate enough to eat sushi in some of the best locations in the country, so when we moved to Denver it was with the understanding that our likely sushi and seafood choices would be greatly reduced. Well, the quality seafood turned out to be true, but the sushi was not. Sawara uses top quality fish and the cuts are thick and the rolls are filled with ingredients not rice filler. If you are in Castle Rock this is a no brainer choice, but I would even go so far as to say that if you are in So. Denver it is worth the drive. They have a huge assortment of traditional and Maki rolls and they also have a very nice alcohol selection. Finally the chefs are top tier and with us visiting at least one a week for the better part of six months we have never been disappointed.
