We were greeted when we walked in Savanna was very helpful, friendly and polite. It was our first time eating here. We got a chance to sample the sauces so we picked one we liked. It was easy to order and the prices were fairly reasonable. Ocha the general manager was doing prep work. She was very nice. Maranda fixed our food and gave her input on some of the sauces. She did a great job with the bowls. They looked good so no knock on presentation or anything. My husband said that the food was good but he didn't like the shrimps taste of shrimp. The green dragon sauce was off the chain for him. Everything else was god to him. As for me... :-( I really wanted to like them. Everything smelled great inside the restaurant and looked good in others bowls. When I opened mines it was NOT what I expected. I could smell the shrimp and I knew I wasn't gonna like it. It was not grilled enough for me that it still tasted like not done. I didn't like the onion being crispy. I was under the assumption everything would be grilled. It did not taste like that. Once I poured the sauce on it I hoped it would change my thoughts. It did not. I must say though the mango lemonade was my highlight along with the great customer service. The restaurant was not all that packed and the ambience was laid back. It was nicely decorated. The restroom was clean too. I ducked in to wash my hands.. I don't know how, but it keeps getting better... and I'm not talking about the food. Well, the food too but I'm talking about the service. Yes, this is my 3rd review; however, I have continued to eat at this location regularly, almost nightly because it has grown so significantly on me. One might think this must be extremely expensive and my answer would be, no, not really. They gave a great rewards program that has allowed me to enjoy their food at a fair price. On top of that, one gets instances/surprises like what I experienced tonight. General Manager, Andrew Crewdson, has continued to look out for me, making my food upon my request whenever he is working (he really puts some heat and flavor behind it) and shows each night I come in that he genuinely cares. Not what I'm used to experiencing elsewhere. -- Tonight I ordered the apps I usually do (pan seared gyoza and jalapeño ahi sushi) since I was going to have the rest of last nights noodles for leftovers. I get into the restaurant and Andrew is working; he says. "I didn't recognize your order!" and to my surprise, there is a full bowl of fresh, spicy, vibrant shrimp and chicken pad thai, my absolute favorite dish -- photos included. This was truly a kind and spirited gesture which left me feeling incredibly happy and grateful to be a committed customer. Andrew also advised he put some spice into the gyoza which makes me even more excited. This is the story here. Andrew and the staff are beyond friendly and they make incredible food with fresh ingredients. The food is consistently delicious and the service is regularly incredible. The only way to justify such a thing is not the company or even the ingredients however, but the people behind it all. -- Thank you to the entire staff at the Castle Rock Tokyo Joe's. Tokyo Joe's in Castle Rock has turned out to be a pleasant surprise. We've been in a few times now and enjoy their build your own bowls with shrimp or salmon usually over rice with lots of veggie and fruit options. I like that they'll put the sauce on the side so nothing is drowning and leftovers are enjoyed more easily. They have a wide variety of sauce choices and you can even mix them up if you'd like to do so. The extra $1 for the crab salad is a no-brainer for increasing my protein count for the day. I like that they have multiple iced tea options alongside the regular fountain drinks. This location has some great staff members who are very helpful. It's very clean and we never wait long. New in Castle Rock, so super busy. My "build your own" bowl was lukewarm when it came out. As it was my first time here, I was surprised that the food was not hot when it appeared. I mentioned it to a worker behind the sushi area, where I was seated, and she volunteered to make the bowl again. What a difference it made! This bowl came out very hot, much unlike the first bowl. The guy who delivered it to me said he couldn't find me at first, and apologized that the first one was cold. Very crowded, especially at lunch time and hard to find a seat. I like the food here and the new location near the outlet mall is great, offering some better options than the outlets food court in sort of a walking distance. The cashier messed up our order and forgot to ring in one of the orders, but they gave it to us at no charge so that's very well played - Tokyo Joe's! Unfortunately most places today don't really take responsibility for their mistakes but this one here was handled well. However you should make sure you got the order right, many places would read it back to the customer to make sure they got everything right. Also, they forgot to bring the Teriyaki sauce we asked for and they didn't realize they were out of sweet potatoes so we had to change our orders after they were already made. I would still go to Tokyo Joes, but I guess at this specific location they need to train the staff a little better just to get the basics right. read more

Hi. I'm from Omaha, NE, the most landlocked state in the states. The sushi there isn't bad. I was visiting Colorado and traveling all throughout and my beautiful girlfriend and I decided to stop here for some food. Having never been, my expectations were neutral. Holy heck. The options were plentiful. I got the edamame and the California roll, my girlfriend made her own bowl. The Cali roll tasted as expected and I was happy. The edamame had the right amount of salt on it and was delicious. One of the waitstaff came around and noticed me about to put some sriracha sauce on the edamame and recommended we add their seasoning to it. Double holy heck, the edamame was way better. My beautiful girlfriend's bowl, I don't recall everything on it, but the sriracha aioli really flavored it up and the crunchy stuff had the right amount of crunch. I do wish there were more peanuts on it, but that's okay. The bowl was huge and we took some home. My only gripe is the containers to go, they don't snap very well. But who cares? I came here fir good food and that's exactly what I got. I wish I had taken a photo of it to share with you all. My only only wish was that we had this place in Omaha. 3rd visit. In general I love Tokyo Joes food. This location is one of the SLOWEST restaurants in Castle Rock. From being the first person in line and maybe 3-4 tables previously seated it was 23 minutes to get food (basic, standard menu items). Then got home and a good deal was wrong. I was improperly charged (I blame management as no one knew what to do...poor training). Dishes mixed up and items missing. Please! Get some management help -your employees are pleasant but woefully untrained. I mean, good on then for recycling and all but I'm not sure this is the best way to save the planet. As for the "salmon" and "tuna"...has anyone else noticed the snail population has decreased dramatically since these places started popping up? I mean, the chunks were the appropriate colors and all but if any of what I ate actually ever had fins I'd be shocked. If, like the Russian army, you're used to eating decades-old, expired, MREs then there's a possibility this garbage might be edible. For the rest of us who aren't in a dilapidated military, it would be best to grab some chips out of a vending machine as they'll be fresher, less processed, and contain more nutritional value. read more

I love the poke bowls at Tokyo Joe's, so I placed an order, but received the wrong poke bowl with my order. Andrew, the manager, was tenacious at getting in contact with me to make it right. This place looked somewhat promising on Yelp, and so we decided to try it out. We showed up at 8:00 and they close at 9:00.....they told us they were running low on Sushi rice and it would be a 20 minute wait for sushi. So we decided to order meals with sushi on the side and just wait. I ordered potstickers...they were sooo small but tasty, not worth the price. Two of my kids ordered Bento boxes and the meat portions were SKIMPY! For $12 I thought you'd get more than 6 pieces of meat. Finally our sushi rolls came, and they were decent, but small size though we ordered an 8 piece. The entire cost of dinner was $75 and we all left hungry. Went here with my boss and a colleague for dinner and the food was ok. I had the cream cheese crab wonton sushi and the MoJoe Bowl. My food was good but my colleague had the surf and turf bowl and it was missing the steak. The restaurant made it right and cooked him up a pice of steak but he had to eat the rest of his bowl as he couldn't wait for steak do to them being busy and wait times were long. They also gave him a card for a free entree. He did say the food was good, unfortunately he didn't get to enjoy it the way it was meant to be enjoyed. My boss had a bento box and he stated the salad, and chicken was nothing special, and the pot stickers were cold. He wouldn't eat here again as he felt food was nothing special and not worth the long wait times as it was busy here. 3 stars due to the mixed experience. read more

There are many better Asian places in Castle Rock. Just went here for the 1st time with my daughter and we ordered sushi and shrimp spring rolls. Sushi was BOGO so tried two different types and both were good. However, if not for one order being free it would have been overpriced. We also ordered shrimp spring rolls which were NOT good. First off all, I have no clue how or why, but the rice wrappers were hard as rocks in one of the rolls and I could not bite through it. Second, they should have called it a carrot spring roll because it was about 80% shredded carrots. Finally, there was only a single, very small, SLICE of shrimp in each roll...which I knew because I could see them. Notice I did not say I could taste them...because they were either too small/too bland to taste - or - were overpowered by the carrots. I'd consider going back on Mondays for sushi but will still with Pho (next to Wag-N-Wash) for the rest of my Asian fix. read more

This place deserves zero stars. We usually love Tokyo Joe's at home in Colorado Springs but this location is just beyond disappointing! For starters, they acted like it was the biggest chore for them to be sure that my two celiac children (as well as myself) got a safe gluten-free meal. HIGHLY UNPROFESSIONAL as we have an actual medical diagnosis that I shouldn't have to explain to illiterate food workers just so I don't become violently ill in a public setting. When you advertise "gluten free" in your restaurant, expect people to ask questions and request the gluten free meals that you have advertised all over the walls and signs in there... Then when asked for a drink carrier, she told us "we don't have those" then someone actually yelled from the kitchen "they're on the very top shelf" this girl just looked back like a deer in the headlights and actually shrugged her shoulders at my husband who struggled his way out the door with 6 drinks & meals for our family... THEN he had to go back in the restaurant and ask for the meal that was missing from our order - that we paid for and did not get and this fool at the counter says "it's okay, I won't charge you..." no apology just BAM... wow, you won't charge me for a meal I already paid for? GEE, THANKS. It's unfortunate that they don't wear name tags here so I can't drop any names but whoever it was working back there were too busy chasing each other around like toddlers in a playground, grabbing each other's butts and instead of providing the patrons of this community with exceptional customer service.
