    2 Meat Platter
    Angel A.

My brother and I are traveling through and found this place. We split the 2 Meat Platter; brisket and pulled pork with the jalapeños mac bites/corn nuggets/okra. Super yummy and definitely recommend. Waitress was very nice. Seating area is clean and inviting. They have outdoor seating as well. Next time we are driving through, we will definitely stop by.

    Cuban with fried pickle spears

A warm, comfortable, inviting space, we came here for a coworker lunch, and it was perfect. I ordered the Cuban with fried pickles spears for the side. FIRST, a BIG Thank You! for letting us order them as a side without a big to-do about it!! The sandwich was hot and super meaty! You won't have to worry about leaving hungry here. Everything was plentiful. The fried pickles were crunchy and dill. Honestly, they were some of the best I've ever had. My coworkers had the Beef Daddy with crinkle fries and chicken tenders with jalapeño mac bites. Both reported satisfaction with their meals. The brisket on the Beef Daddy looked tender and juicy and thick. Everyone at the table (12 of us total) reported happiness with the meal. Our server was amazing! Organized, urgent, friendly, accurate, and just a pleasure to be around. I think it's safe to say that we'll be back!

Pulled pork platter with slaw & beans

There was a long wait at the Mexican restaurant nearby so my friend & I decided to give Sawmill a go last night after we confirmed they had a patio! We were pleasantly surprised by the large menu and had a hard time choosing what to get! So many of the sandwiches sounded great but we ended up going with platters because we decided we needed two sides (there were about a dozen to choose from!) The food came out within 10 minutes and our server was happy to bring us each a couple of the sauces to try. My friend had pulled pork with the sweet & spicy BBQ sauces and I had the brisket with spicy & Carolina mustard sauces. The brisket had good flavor and was pretty tender. I preferred the spicy sauce by a long shot. Baked beans were yummy and the japaleno mac & cheese bites with house made ranch are were one of the best deep fried snacks I've had out in a long time. If I come back again, I will definitely be keeping those as my side choice! Overall enjoyed our meals, service was good, and the place looked nice. Would definitely return when I'm in this area again.

From the outside, it looked a bit sterile. Yet, once we got inside, it was warm and inviting. Our party of 7 was seated quickly. Our waitstaff arrived, taking drink orders and delivered post haste. My Bulleit old fashioned was perfect. However, my sisters Jack and Coke was really made with Pepsi -- she didn't care for it. I ordered the smoked turkey wrap and sweet potato fries. It was not only a generous serving but deliciously prepared. I have enough for lunch tomorrow. My spouse got a pick 2, which was hotlink and brisket (sides baked beans and slaw). He devoured every fantastic bite. The rest of our party enjoyed their food too. Our waitstaff was attentive, helpful, and we will ask for her again because we will be back.

The service and the food were top notch. When I visit St Louis I always look for local food and the pork steak was great. I would recommend and go back!

I ordered to-go and headed over to pick-up. I went to the bar and was helped quickly. A lady came out with my order and she was super friendly. I ordered baby back ribs (1/2 rack) and chose green beans & the Mac and cheese bites as my side. I also ordered garlic cheese bread. The garlic cheese bread was good! Lots of cheese and was not overpowered with garlic. The ribs was a huge portion even at half rack! And it was tender and good. I got the sweet bbq sauce as my sauce choice. It was great! The green beans were so simple but seasoned so well! I was a little nervous at first ordering since sometimes you get them and they are bland. Price is so good for baby back ribs for the amount I got and the meat! Really enjoyed my food. I'll be back to try other things!

This place is super good and it gets packed super fast! I came on a Wednesday and it was so busy, we had to sit at the bar area by the kitchen. We definitely didn't mind and appreciated them working us in! This is a good place to bring groups, lots of table seating and open area. They also had live music which is super fun. I ordered the Cuban sandwich and it was delicious! I also had fries on the side which were crispy and tasty. I would definitely return to try something else, it all sounded so good. Our server was so busy but still was pleasant and personable. Parking can be tight, they share the same area as Rosalitas. I found a parking spot behind the building- life hack!

    The Defibs is in Dehouse!

This hidden (from us) gem could easily become a place to frequent often! Excellent menu featuring traditional barbecue options and plentiful sides PLUS so many sandwich options, salads, pizza and other entrees. Decently stocked bar. Nicely decorated with various St. Louis paraphernalia including some really nice enlarged photos along the dining wall. The large stage is not neglected as they feature live music twice a week. Saturday's band The Defibs were really good. I liked their playlist which featured some classics and several songs I have never heard before. What we ate: - brisket Philly (4.25/5): GET THIS. Very good sandwich. Tender smoked brisket was laced with cheese and grilled peppers & onions. Opted for pub chips and okra l - both were good. - smokehouse salad (4/5) with turkey. Big salad will easily cover you for dinner. Good barbecue vinaigrette dressing - fried pickles (4/5): made in house. Very tasty. Only complaint is that the order is small. We received 4 spears. At $4, feels like $1 a spear is a bit much.

Food here is prepared with attention to detail. End results are tasty dishes that keep you pondering other arrangements you might have missed looking the menu over. I had an awesome pulled pork sandwich with a great side of slaw (sweet peppery kind). My wife had the baby back rib platter that had a balanced bbq sauce that gave the meat a masterful finish. The plate that really surprised me was the hot Italian sandwich that my son got. It had Salami, Bacon, pulled pork, on buttered baguette, with melted cheese with a touch of Parmesan sprinkled (came with a side of a marinara concoction type sauce). Man, it was something to write home about! Olivia checked on us often to ensure we had a top dining experience. We came for lunch but this spot can be easily turn into a nice evening out as it has a stage for live music and a well stocked bar with great service. Don't miss a meal here if you're nearby.

    Ribs and Pulled Pork Combo
    Jon T.

It has been a while since we joined the D's for lunch at a barbecue joint. We decided on Sawmill since it is close by in West County and neither couple had been here before. Mr D ordered a pulled pork sandwich, Ms D a Turkey wrap, Ms T a Turkey sandwich and chose a combo of ribs and pulled pork. We were underwhelmed. The barbecue mostly was not bad, but it needed a little help. So here it is in ascending order. Ribs - My ribs were nicely cooked, tender, but not mush. They came clean off the bone and were still moist. The issue is they had almost no smoke and what little rub they had was missing salt. I like that they serve them without sauce, good barbecue does not needed it. I suspect these are smoked in an electric smoker. They had no bark. They could have been very good with a better rub and some smoke. I would rate them a strong three stars, not bad, could easily have been better. Pulled Pork - The pulled pork was much like ribs, albeit a little drier. This is a case where, with some sauce on a sandwich, it would be greatly improved. It was not something to enjoy straight. Again, it really missed a good rub with some salt and more smoke. I thought of it as roasted pork, not barbecue. Thankfully it was not too dry, was tender and not stringy. This rates a weak 3 stars for both Mr D and me. Turkey - Neither Ms T nor Ms D thought much of the smoked turkey. I sampled it and agreed. In fact, it was simply bad. No smoke, no seasoning and extremely dry. It is not sliced (would be impossible), it comprises crumbles (like Lion's Choice beef). I found it inedible. It may have been bad, but they gave a huge serving on the bun. This needed a ton of mayo and sauce. Ms D said it was better on the wrap since they put some other stuff in the wrap that moistened it. Ms T rated it a 2, which I say is generous. As bad as Smokee Mo's is, their turkey was much better. For sides, I was reasonably happy with my slaw and baked beans. Both rate in the 3-4 range. Ms T and I took a lot of leftover meat home, chopped it all and will sauce it for sandwiches and it will be good. BTW, while I really liked their "hot" sauce, Ms T's sweet sauce was strange. We think it was over-seasoned with poultry seasoning or thyme or some such herb. It was definitely herbal and seemed inappropriate. We were in agreement that if someone wanted to come back, we would, but it would not be a priority.
