My 2 friends and I had been attempting to get a reservation at Sazio. We were finally able to secure one a week in advance. We were aware of the hour and a half time limit because of COVID; however, the staff rushed us too much and were very overbearing. We were repeatedly asked by four different employees to take away half eaten plates. The staff would touch the plates and begin pulling them away before asking if we were finished with them. Most of the foods were okay, but the shrimp scampi was swimming in a thin "broth," it felt like miso soup. No sauce in sight. This was $28. To conclude the meal, we ended with the fried oreos. These were satisfactory. While in the middle of eating, the support staff lifted the plate with more than half of our ice cream left, along with some strawberries. We appreciate the attentive gesture, but PLEASE do not reach for/grab plates before asking if guests are finished. If you are looking for a great experience, Stingray across the street is amazing. read more

Had dinner tonight. Food is good but the noise level is so bad that it takes the enjoyment out of eating. You can't wait to get to get out of the restaurant. We got a call from the restaurant today telling us they could fit us in. They should have told us that we would be in a room that is so noisy that it is hard to enjoy the experience. Omg this place is so good!!! It's kind of cramped inside but the food is amazing! Be prepared to wait! I mean you can't go wrong with chicken parm so I got that. It was a healthy portion of chicken with lots of cheese and sexy marinara ! I loved it! I was envious of my table partners who ordered the seafood lasagna, it looked so good and they said it was amazing. Big portions so you may not be able to finish your meal here. My friends shrimp scampi looked a little dry, seem like it could have used more sauce and not just a little pool of sauce on the bottom. Shrimp was good though I tried it. Nice staff. Decor could of been a bit better. I actually like bread at restaurants; Especially Italian. Menu is a little less traditional. Not many choices. Big fish does a a few wonderful pastas at their seafood places. They didn't offer any of them at this one. The sauces were not great. My advice would be to Stick with standards. Amazing food and one of my favorite places in Rehoboth!! Highly recommend the mushroom ravioli, bolognese, chicken parmigiana and linguini with clams. Only small complaint is both times I was there we always felt super rushed by the staff which kind of takes away from the nice dinner vibe. Within a 5 min window we were asked by maybe three or four different wait staff if we were done or needed anything boxed up. Perhaps it was a miscommunication among the staff who didn't know someone had already just asked. Or I know they try to keep each table to a 1.5 hr window but we were probably only 40 min in and still enjoying our cocktails and picking at our food. My friends at one point were confused why they kept asking us even after we said we were still working on it. It felt like they wanted us to finish and leave. We probably would have ordered dessert or more cocktails if we hadn't felt this way. read more

We arrived very late, 9 pm on a Sunday night and the staff accommodated us. For this they are deserving of more stars. However, the food was not on point. The $18.00 crap dip was literally all cream cheese. It was awful! Eeeeew. The mussels ($15.) were mostly closed and not edible. The fried calamari ($15.) would have been 100% better if they had flavor. They were fried and very bland; that's it; awful. If it had not been late and we had not been starving, I imagine we would have sent our food back. The scallop carbonara pasta ($32.) was so dry. I mean really, really dry and lacked flavor. We didn't get it. The scallops that topped the plate were very good though. My son had the Branzino ($37.) and said it was not fresh. The linguine and clams ($24.) were good. We had a party of 8 adults and were able to get outside seating. The reservation was made a week in advance, which was due to their calendar. The food was good but not as good as we expected after reading other reviews. Do not bring children as there is no menu for them, or any accommodation for senior citizens on the menu. Good traditional Italian food. Wife and I both had pasta and enjoyed it. The pasta itself was high quality, and the sauces were very good. The decor is light and a little more formal than other places. Beachwear is fine so no need to dress up. Seems to draw a somewhat older crowd. But I'm somewhat older and can't object! The restaurant is cozy, with limited tables. Reservations are a must! We enjoyed it, but our older parents thought it was very noisy. The food was terrific! We ordered the garlic bread, caprese salad and the meatball appetizers. Everyone's entree was devoured - delicious! Amongst our guests we ordered chicken Parmesan, eggplant Parmesan, shrimp fra diavolo, the rockfish topped with crab special, noodles with marinara (side dish used as a kids meal), and the swordfish puttanesca. My date and I will happily return to sample more menu items! Only drawback is there is no designated parking, so we drove around for 15-20 minutes before snagging a metered parking spot on the main drag near the boardwalk. read more

Went there last Friday with other family members. We sat inside and wished we didn't. It was extremely loud. No one at the table could hear each other for the whole meal. I got the cast iron calamari and chicken Parmesan. The calamari was tasteless. The chicken Parmesan was sloppily prepared, the pasta extremely over cooked to the point of being not edible. They forgot to bring our garlic bread to the table. When it finally came out it was soggy and doughy. The drinks we ordered were weak and the wine was bottom barrel. Such a cute place. Feels very warm and inviting. The staff was highly attentive and friendly. The tables are well separated - we sat near no one. Everyone was following all mask protocols and being very cautious. The food was terrific - but beware, the portions are huge. I never take food home, ever but I felt so guilty having it tossed. We could have split the small Caesar three ways. On the wine list, like that they had a nice mix of Italian and wines from other regions. So disappointed. Came here with a friend who is a local and they complained that this isn't the first time there was a problem with their food too. We arrived early because we made a reservation and were told this was the best way to get outdoor seating (we planned a 5:30pm dinner for this). We were 30 min early for our reservation and we were denied outdoor seating. I understand things happen but during COVID you don't tell someone they can get outdoor seating and we arrive and you say it's not possible. The manager or whoever seemed to be running the place gave us attitude about it. We ended up sitting inside and our food arrived and most of it was cold - and the crab cakes were burnt. The waitress tried her best and was helpful but the manager on duty was rude and I heard her complaining and gossiping about a customer as I was going to the bathroom. We were looking forward to dining here since it' had been a favorite dinner spot for years and its usually difficult to make reservations, especially for the outdoor seating which is on a beautiful covered porch. First disappointment -no good bread on the table...no good olive oil....just a puny bowl of thinly sliced peppers- though maybe a good thing for over eaters. A few of us had the burata/mozerella/tomato salad and that was big enough for 2-3 people (nice to share) and that I have to say was delicious. Others had the Caesar salad which was very large and a little too heavy/soggy with creamy dressing. We were off to a pretty good start until our over priced halibut entrees came ($45 ea). The smell that wafted over us as the waiter placed the plates on the table was worse than a trash dumpster in NYC on a hot summer day. It's shocking that a fine dining Resturant would serve disgustingly old fish.I think I'm scarred from eating fish anymore.The fingerling potatoes that came on the side of the fish were also terrible -over cooked, deep fried and gross. I ate here last week with my family and had an absolutely great experience. The garlic bread starter was cheesy and delicious. My friend ordered the seafood lasagna, and everyone enjoyed stealing bits and pieces of his food. Being allergic to shellfish, I ordered the chicken parmesan with a side of potatoes, and though I was internally a little worried that it wouldn't be enough food, it not only tasted good but was satisfying. We all split the torta for dessert which was super rich, and we were definitely glad there were 5 of us to split it. I also ordered the Bada Bing cocktail, which was gorgeous (a purple glowing cube illuminates the drink in the glass) and not too strong. This is the very first time I'm leaving a negative restaurant review, but I feel compelled to write. We've always enjoyed Sazio, bringing friends and family there-- until our last visit. Another couple celebrated our anniversary with us, and Liz, our server, rushed us through the meal. The 1 lb meatball was tasty, albeit bland, and the lambchops that two of us ordered (the night's special) was tough and tiny. One of us ordered it rare, the other medium, and we were both very disappointed. Twice during dinner I had to stand to accommodate someone using the outdoor ramp: perfectly understandable, but it might have been nice for the staff to apologize; I didn't expect a complimentary beverage or dessert, but it would have been a nice gesture. And of course, no anniversary acknowledgment. Liz asked if I was a Rewards member, and offered to put in my points (our bill was well over $200 without our 25% tip), and I thanked her. Very disappointing experience at Sazio. I made dinner reservations to celebrate a special occasion. We were taken to our table and immediately noticed that the top was wet. In fact the table was so wet that the menus got stuck to it. I mentioned to the waiter that the table was wet and she responded by saying that it is because it was just cleaned. She never offered to dry the table. I had to use my cloth napkin to dry the table. If I was by myself I would had left. At some point I asked for another napkin since mine was wet. The waiter returned with a new napkin that she threw at the table. These disappointing interactions really spoiled the evening. I don't plan to return. I called 11 days before my reservation and was told outside seating was first come, first serve and I was best off coming close to when they opened for a table outside. Because of that I made a reservation at 5:30 and showed up at 5:15. Usually I would not be eating dinner this early. Despite there visibly being open tables on the porch, the hostess said we would be eating inside. The woman working was extremely rude saying the tables were reserved and when I explained what I was told she said I was wrong. Came down for an anniversary dinner with my girlfriend. Dope atmosphere and seating. The food was amazing! We got risotto balls and the meatball to start - both so good. The gravy is amazing. I got seafood Alfredo and my girlfriend got chicken parm. Also both really good. Got a side of the truffle creamed corn....my god. We would've taken pictures, alas we had to dig in. The portions are big and luckily we had some leftover to enjoy later. The staff was super friendly, but our server Diane was the shining star. From start to finish she was friendly and professional. We couldn't have had a better experience for dinner last night than we had at Sazio. The food was unbelievably delicious. The wine was divine. The atmosphere was perfectly pretty and cozy. Finally, the service was absolutely impeccable. They went beyond "above and beyond". Our server Syndey was friendly, attentive, and went so far beyond any normal expectations to ensure not only that we enjoyed our meal, but that there were no food allergies or sensitivities among the items we ordered. From confirming any potential cross-contamination for a shellfish allergy from preparation, to picking up on my casually saying "I can't usually order cioppino because it usually includes fish" and asking after my order was delivered "Did you perhaps have a food allergy?" and promptly retrieving my dish when she discovered in the kitchen that it did in fact contain fish (but which I can also confirm was out-of-this-world delicious from the couple bites of shellfish I was able to sample, thankfully without any adverse reaction) and replacing it with the most delicious linguini with clams that I have ever tasted. The manager, Suzanne, came by our table several times to make sure everything was ok, as did various other friendly staff members who had recognized my friend from having dined there recently. Not only were our tummies happy from the incredible food we dined on, but our hearts were possibly even happier from the entire experience. First time dining at Sazio. Cute, intimate and small. Be sure to call ahead and make reservations. It tends to get busy around dinner time and since there are only twelve dining tables, it fills up pretty quickly. We sat at the bar and were perfectly fine dining there but it was just two of us. We shared the blistered shishito peppers- diners beware, you have to love spicy and it's "potluck" you don't know if you're getting a batch full of spicy or maybe one or two. They could use a little more garlic and seasoning but overall were light and delicious. Next, the Sazio board. We always love a good charcuterie board and the selection of cheeses were excellent: Tres leches, Midnight Moon, and Paladin Blue Cheese. Following those two, we ordered the Charred Octopus - which is something I always order the minute I see it on virtually any menu, and the fried calamari. The octopus had very good flavor but admittedly was not my favorite. It was a bit chewy, which I was surprised about. The calamari was excellent and a generous portion as well. Finally, we ordered the Sazio tortellini that had a delicious blush sauce. I'm not a meat eater so I opted not to eat the entire dish since it contains guanciale (pork jowl) but my hubby enjoyed it. They hit it out of the ballpark!! I had mentioned to our server Lisa that I had a shellfish allergy and she immediately notified the manager Suzanne. They were so accommodating to my issue. Food was outstanding as well as the drinks. They Went above and beyond. I was celebrating my 60th birthday with my husband and Suzanne threw in our dessert . I would highly recommend this restaurant. I am posting this as a plea to the management. Sazio has always been the best Italian food at the beach. Yet recently the chicken milanese, which used to be a huge delicious piece of perfectly breaded chicken, is now a flat rubbery cut which looks processed. Likewise the sauces which were exquisite are watery and flavorless. I am not sure if this is some cost cutting measure but this is not top quality italian food anymore. Please, please bring back the quality and keep Sazio amazing! read more
