Lovingly made Italian food from scratch is provided in family style portions at this local restaurant. The wedding soup broth was so delicious, I could have had two more bowls. Their version of Mac and cheese features a gnocchi so pillowy that it melts in your mouth. Our vegetarians loved the eggplant meatballs. I tried them, they had the same flavor profile of their signature meatballs which are excellent. The lasagna does not disappoint and comes in size that could feed two adults. I watched as they shaved slice after slice of roast pork over top the broccoli rabe and shaved cheese in my sub. I honestly could not decide whether I enjoyed it or the classic meatball hero more. Lastly the owners and servers were courteous and efficient. I hope my travels bring me here again. read more

Amazing. Ordered the shrimp la Rosa Gnocchi tasted like pillows, just like the girl said. The Italian food here is unmatched. The gnocchi is definitely made by hand because they were different sizes. So fresh! The sauce was just amazing. The shrimp was good. Every bite I took, Felt orgasmic. What the fuck have I been missing all of my life?! The portions were large. Took me two full sit downs to finish this. I enjoyed every bite. If I lived here I would be 200# easy. Damn even the bread and salad were good. Damn. Can't wait to come back. Street parking was easy. Stopped here for lunch with my boys. Truly the best Italian food other than my nonnas and my moms. I had rigatoni's with pork and sausage. It was out of this world. My son had gnocchis which were homemade and delicious. Hobby had downtown chicken, which was also very very good. Can't wait to return and try other Italian delicacies on the menu. It's so hard to find authentic Italian food anymore. The meatballs are soft just like my nonna used to make. I just tried the Limestone location, and I was very happy to see ample parking! I had the Veal Scalessa and it was huge! Plenty of food for at least two meals. The veal was pounded nice and thin. It came with gnocchi, which literally melted in my mouth! What a delightful treat! Travelling thru Wilmington to get to Philly. Looked up Italian Restaurants and saw 5 stars on every review here on Yelp. We would give it more because of our wonderful waiter Jude. He treated us with brocolli Rabe because I had never heard of this dish. He then bought over 2 meatballs saying they had extras. Best ever, try anything with meatballs, luscious. We had chicken Marsala and the last chicken dish with a blush sauce and gnocchi. It was steaming hot, delicious and lots to take home. Then he send us home with homemade butter cake. Wow! What an unexpected culinary experience. We over ordered food and don't regret one meal. Broccoli rabe & meatball appetizer was outstanding. Chicken & veal Parms with a side of garlic bread was amazing. Our waitress was busy on her phone alot but other servicers picked up her slack. Can I say's everything was so good. Staff and atmosphere of this restaurant looks like it's been converted from a home in a residential neighborhood. Start out I had the broccoli Rob and then I had chicken Parm with the gnocchi, which was my favorite part of the meal. I also ordered one meatball , and some garlic bread. Also bought a couple treats to go home with definitely a very fun and fabulous place to eat. A must go to. Lots of seafood dishes that unfortunately I can't eat to the allergies. Me and my boyfriend frequent Scalessa's and it is truly an amazing place! The waiter/waitresses are incredibly kind and very knowledgeable, and the environment is so cozy and comfortable. I always get the meatball salad, which is incredible, and always sample whatever my boyfriend is having, whether it's the chicken parmigiana or the other various pasta dishes. The wife & I went for the first time 2 weeks ago for her birthday and I couldn't have picked a better place. We were seated and greeted by Rose our waitress, super friendly and knowledgeable on the menu. We had the Lasagna and Chicken Parm and they were both were 5 stars. We found everything was amazing from the shrimp with gnocchi to the meatballs to the chicken marsala !! We found everything was so flavorful, rich sauces and great quality food. The staff weed just amazing as well and helped recommend what to order as well as help to recommend fun things to do for someone new to Delaware. Decided to come here for a meal after watching a Mets win against the Phillies. Our server immediately greeted us, and we bonded over all being Mets fans. He was very knowledgeable with any questions we had with the menu since I am vegetarian and wanted to make sure their sauce was vegetarian (it is!). We got to watch The Godfather while we waited for our food and throughout the meal. It truly added to the whole experience. The bread served was warm, and the butter was softened. The salads that came with our meal were light and refreshing. My husband ordered the chicken parmigiana, and I ordered the eggplant parmigiana. The food, along with our pasta side, was all delicious. They are located in the cutest corner spot in a residential neighborhood in Wilmington with the perfect old world Italian flare inside. Someone always greets us as soon as we walk in the door, and we've never had to wait long for a table. Everything we've ordered here has been excellent. The lasagna is absolutely amazing. The meatball salad is so flavorful with their Sunday gravy and a dollop of ricotta cheese on the side. The chicken marsala is probably the best around and is paired with homemade gnocchi that are out of this world. You can't go wrong with their sandwiches either. Took my wife and BIL here for hearty, home style Italian. Everyone was so friendly and we got to enjoy a great, relaxing meal at 5:15PM on a Saturday. We had broccoli rabe and risotto rice balls for an appetizer, entrées: Sunday Gravy, cheese ravioli special with pink sauce, and chicken cutlet downtown. For dessert, lemon ricotta pound cake and a cannoli. The cannoli crust was crispy, clearly filled just before serving. They even made a fresh pot of coffee for us. While working on a project in Wilmington, my wife and I, two Italians from Rhode Island, were looking for authentic Italian. Look no further, this quaint, corner restaurant is not to be missed! It received a lot of great reviews here. We arrived early per recommendations and immediately were seated. Sherry had eggplant parm with salad and gnocchi. I had grandmas Sunday gravy with sausage, rigatoni and a salad. First, the salad was like eating at my grandmothers. Simple with olive oil and vinegar, it was fresh and delicious. The planks of fried eggplant were perfect with a light sauce and lots of melted cheese. The gnocchi was so soft and pillowy. Omg. My Sunday gravy was like going back 40 years to my own grandmas. It had pieces of melt in your mouth pork through the gravy - we called it sauce, my wife's family gravy - and Al dente pasta. The sausage was delicious too! It came a bit watery at the bottom but after mixing it all up, great consistency. The staff were friendly and efficient. The food came out of the kitchen to every table quickly. There were pics of the 'Chairmen of the Board' everywhere and Italian movies on two unobtrusive screens. My only issue was the bread. Not bad but not really anything . It was a toaster sub roll.
