This review is for the AirBnB Vacation Rental, NOT the Bed & Breakfast. Our 5 night rental included the 3bdr, 2ba Farmhouse in front and the 1bdr, 1ba Arrowhead Cottage in back. Both had coffee makers, microwave and small refrigerators. Both spots were super clean, showers were great and the place was stocked with everything you could need in the Farmhouse kitchen. DONT buy olive oil, there's lots in the bottom of the serviette! The owner Jennifer provided solid communication and addressed any issues promptly. The property offers a pool (unheated) hot tub, fire-pit, grill and a wood burning stove in the Farmhouse. While we ate out most nights our grill night was great. It's a bit rustic, so wifi & tv are spotty but our cell service was perfect. Dishwashing is by hand. We would definitively stay here again! read more

Scarlett's is not about fancy modern décor, upscale Ralph Lauren country accoutrements, or exquisitely manicured grounds. Scarlett's is definitely more rustic than country chic, but it is utterly charming, the proprietors warm, and their dogs loveable and friendly. Staying here definitely feels like staying with close family or friends. Scarlett's is nestled back from the Silverado trail and accessed via a narrow, one-car gravel road. There is no prominent signage from the road except for some a nice of red reflector lights above the house sign - useful when driving at night along the poorly-lit Silverado. There are only 3 sets of accommodations available - ranging from the smallest Arrowhead Room (and most inexpensive) to largest (Camellia Suite) a few steps away from the main house where breakfasts are served and the pool/ hot tub is accessed. As other folks have mentioned, breakfasts are delicious - French toast, chicken apple sausage, fresh-squeezed OJ (lots of pulp!), coffee and fresh fruit on Day 1; poached eggs, bacon and warmed breads assortment with more fruit, coffee and juice on Day 2. We reserved the Gamay suite in advance and were upgraded to the Camellia suite when we arrived - the Inn was not full that weekend, perhaps since it was still a bit off-season. The Gamay and Camellia are attached as one structure and we were allowed to take a peek at both to make up our minds as to where we wanted to stay. The Camellia Suite is a full ground floor, and includes a large living room connected to a "wet bar" consisting of sink, dishwasher, microwave, and teeny tiny fridge which housed OJ, yogurt, vitamin waters; there was a bowl of fresh fruit on the kitchen table. The bedroom features a Queen-sized bed and a darling window seat that was perfect for perching, reading & netbooking. Derek showed us around since Scarlett (his mother) was away at a champion water-skiier's convention. He very thoroughly showed us through the rooms we were to choose from, and when we finally settled on the Camelia, he went through the quirks specific to our home for 2 days...(heater in the LR tends to run warm; the fire is easily started in the old fashioned wood stove; free Wifi is available, but not great for downloading large files). He showed us how to operate the hot tub, and kept it warm/ on for us for the couple of days that we were there. The property is surrounded by some beautiful woods that are great for a nice & easy rambling hike - the dogs are likely to join you and the littlest - Chewie - will probably stay with you the entire time. So many thoughtful little details - the umbrellas by the door, the coffee maker and various creams and sugars; the extra linens and pillows in the large wardrobe, the umbrellas by the door (which were really helpful for the deluge on our last day there) etc. read more

Dearest Scarlett, You were the sweetest, kindest, most generous and hospitable hostess to us and we are so grateful. My four gf's and I stayed at your lovely inn last March before the fatal crash in July. We were deeply saddened to hear of the news and hope you are resting peacefully in a fabulous place like your B&B. During our stay, you cooked us the yummiest breakfast and chatted with us as we had our french toast and half cantaloupes filled with berries. You so kindly offered us an extra room at no additional charge. You had the cutest dogs including Chewy (short for Chewbacca haha), the little pom who definitely is the bossy boss of everyone, including the big dog. :) You let us play in your backyard, on the trampoline and swings, which made us feel like little girls again. And too bad we were too tired to soak in the hot tub you offered. We're sorry it took this long to finally open a Yelp account and write you this review. It was nice to stay in a place off the main drag in Calistoga. We felt very nicely removed from the hustle of the spa scene and the stares of the locals. The Inn is very charming in its rustic setting. We had a large suite detached from the main building with a rope swing in front. The staff was very attentive and accommodating. There is also a tiny little dog that will befriend you. The only thing I didn't like was that we had to eat breakfast with the other people staying at the Inn. I just wanted to have coffee and toast in grumpy seclusion with my wife. read more

This place is an absolute treasure. I was so happy to find this hideaway this summer. It's quiet and tranquil and only 10 minutes from Calistoga or St. Helena. The owners are wonderful and the breakfasts were out of this world!!! I fell in love with the aviary of gorgeous, tiny yellow birds, too. Great B&B in between Calistoga and St. Helena on Silverado Trail. Scarlett was very accomodating and she made some fantastic breakfast food. There are a total of 3 units that Scarlett rents out. We stayed 2 nights in the Arrowhead suite, which is detached from the main house and had a small patio area with a table. The other 2 units are also detached from the house, but share a wall. Overall very good place that is nicely secluded from the main road, but only a quick 5 min drive to either St. Helena or Calistoga. read more

This place was really as homey and welcoming as possible. We made last minute reservations and when we got there, since there wasn't too many people staying there, they upgraded us to a larger suite. There was even a pool, hot tub and a trampoline to play with! The accommodations were great - nice beds, large living space, full cable, juices in the fridge and coffee and tea. The owners were even more charming - they were full of information on where we should go for massages and food as well a really pleasant conversation during our french toast, fresh fruit and sausage breakfast. Overall a really pleasant stay! It's not a fancy hotel but it has all the cozy comforts of home. Keep on the look out for teeny flocks of quail running around! read more

I wish I could give it 6 stars. I was here for a few days, and at the end of the trip, I left my expensive leather jacket, that was a birthday present, hanging in the closet. They shipped it back to me- and didn't even let me pay for the shipping costs!! My experience staying here was phenomenal. The location is amazing, the view is spectacular, and the house is equipped with everything you could possibly need. Basic cooking supplies, multiple fridges in different rooms, coffee and coffee machines, tea, A grill to barbecue, an outdoor table with lights, the pool and the jacuzzi. It was the most comfortable, luxurious and homey place I have ever stayed at. The owners are very, very nice. read more

Scarlett's is off the beaten path and that is one of the things we just loved about it - no city noise! We enjoying lounging by the pool reading and listening to the crickets when the sun went down. Scarlett was tragically killed earlier this summer and her children were running the Inn while we were there. The hospitality was A++++. We could not have asked for better hosts. Our only complaints were the lack of A/C in the Gamay suite (there is a window unit in the bedroom, but it was inefficient for the whole suite) and lack of signage on the road. read more

Went here last May for part of my bachlorette party with my girls. The place is super cute. Feels like you are visiting your family friend's home out in the country. The place is not fancy at all, but it's cute and full of love. Scarlett and her family lived there and when her children grew up she turned it into a bed and breakfast. The place was perfect for us girls. Slept all 8 of us easily. It was near the wineries we wanted to taste at and was near SolBar restaurant, which is a great restaurant by the way. When we arrived, Scarlett brought us some wine and snacks and instantly made us feel at home. The house was very clean and had all the blankets and stuff you needed. Definitely not a place to go to if you want to watch movies and hang out by the pool. But, perfect if you want a relaxing, homey environment. The breakfast was homemade by Scarlett and her son. We actually were there on mother's day and her son came to visit her. Was super cute. There was french toast, sausages and fruit. Simple and tasty and was the perfect light breakfast to have before a day of wine tasting. All of us girls enjoyed our stay with Scarlett and it was nice to be able to spend part of mother's day with her. read more

what a cozy inn. scarlett is so cool (served us wine, lemonade and snacks when we arrived). let's see where to begin. we stayed in the camellia suite. this is the largest of all the rooms and it really is like having your own apartment. bedroom, living room, kitchen/dining area and bathroom. there's no tub, just a shower stall. there's also a television with cable, vcr/dvd combo. we ended up sleeping in a bit and asked if we could have a later check out -- scarlett was so laid back about it and just said no problem. by the time we got packed and went to the main house (her house) -- she served us fruit, french toast and sausage. her dogs were around and they were all so sweet. one little pomeranian (chewie) was hilarious and was the attention whore of the group. he's such a character. they also have a ping pong table outside, a trampoline, pool and jacuzzi. overall, the inn is more casual and laid back -- not really like a super formal b&b. we really enjoyed the stay and had a great experience. read more

Very casual, warm, friendly but not intrusive. Lots of personalized service, a Stellar Jay named Stella who is available to befriend, several friendly dogs to buddy up with small kids, a trampoline, ping pong table, hammock, pool, jacuzzi and 35 acres of untamed wild to explore. Love this place! I stayed in the Camilla Suite and it was completely comfy/homey. Out in the country it was very peaceful and quiet with good smelling air and the crickets chirping. Everyone was very welcoming, (including the dogs :) It was fun to swing in the swing under the moonlight. The breakfast was awesome! We woke up to the smell of really good coffee and breakfast food wafting in through our open window. We had breakfast in the dining room which was beautifully set with china and silver. Rebecca was the most gracious hostess you could imagine! It started with a beautiful presentation of fresh fruit, followed by the yummiest french toast ever with four kinds of syrup and chicken apple sausages. Awesome! Was a little nervous at first when we pulled up but ended up being really fun. I made a last minute reservation but Scarlet upgraded us to the Camellia Suite at no charge since we were the only guests for the night. She had a bottle of wine and some cheese & crackers ready for us. The room was stocked with plenty of other drinks too (juices, coffee, tea, etc) and there was wireless for those that still wanted to stay "connected". There is fireplace in the Camellia Suite which was the perfect way to end the night. Hot tubbing was fun too. And the breakfast was out of this world !!! French toast, fruit, juice, coffee, sausage. Yum! Since we were the only guests she brought it to us, but normally everyone eats together at the house. Definitely would stay again. read more

My friend and I decided to do a Girl's Spa Weekend up in Calistoga and wanted to stay in a place that was away from the hustle and bustle (not a lot of that in Calistoga, but still), and more relaxing than a chain place. We found Scarlett's Country Inn on yelp and noted the great reviews, but also noted that no one had reviewed this place yet this year. They were available and in the right price range, so we booked the Camelia for the weekend. So incredibly glad we did! The owners were very sweet and let us know that it is no longer a bed and breakfast, but more like a vacation rental. I think the woman who ran it as a B&B passed away (I'm so sorry for your loss), but the family wanted to keep it going. Do not expect a modern, immaculate hotel room. Expect a comfortable, charming farmhouse-style place. VERY comfortable, very quiet, and nestled in the hillside. Be careful driving at night because you will probably miss the turn off. It's a perfect getaway. Our favorite part of the weekend was not the massage at the Spa Train, but lounging for hours around the pool at Scarlett's. It was a HOT weekend so we went right to the pool, and after swimming for a while we found the lounge rafts and lay floating for about an hour, listening to the quiet breeze tickle the windchimes hanging in the tree. It was just beautiful and very zen. If you get a chance, lie on one of the rafts, float around, clear your mind, and look at the various types of trees around the property while you float around. Just gorgeous. The owners are lovely, warm, and inviting people. They leave you to your own devices though and allow you to make your weekend your own. There are views of a neighboring vineyard and also of the hills. It's a good 5-10 minute drive from downtown Calistoga, which if you ask me, is perfect. I absolutely loved it. I am a city girl, but the country life is so for me. This inn is way up away from it all, birds chirping, wind through the tree's and all the fresh air one could want. My husband took me there for a 3 day get away and i cant wiat to go back. I noticed a previous comment about having to eat berakfast with everyone, an thats no true dear. You just needed to ask for breakfast in ur room. We had this great french toast and chicken apple sausage with fruits and everything. We stayed in the camelia and i reccomend it to everyone LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!! read more

This place is no Four Seasons: it's like staying at the home of the best relative you wish you had. It's a little farmhouse tucked into the Napa hills. Sweet, comfortable rooms and a wonderful hostess (Scarlett herself!). She makes you feel unbelievably at home. I arrived all hot and dusty and she immediately made a tray up with cold lemonade, pistachios and big fat cherries. (wine was also available) She's incredibly accommodating and helpful but unobtrusive. And this place is great. It has a netted trampoline in case you have kiddies (my kids would LOVE it here, and I think I have to bring them back sometime), a big wide hammock under the trees, shaded patio with chairs, a perfect pool with nice big towels and foam mattress to float lazily on, a lovely yard. Breakfast was great, too: melons and berries with mint, big fat french toast and chicken-apple sausages. I don't ever want to go home. read more

We went to Scarlett's for the first time this past weekend and she really delivered the goods! I won't ever consider staying anywhere else in Calistoga now. We were in the Arrowhead room which is actually a standalone cottage where her son (now an adult) grew up. Books line the wall along with charming country wood paneling and a quilt (!) on the bed. It was a very spacious cottage, and carpeted, the bed and bathroom were great. There are also a bunch of canaries in a big walk-in cage outside the unit, contributing further to the laid-back country charm of her home. We got in very late, but Scarlett left a note out for us welcoming us and asking us to make ourselves at home. Next morning, I woke up before everybody (even Scarlett) so I wandered the grounds and ended up soaking in the jacuzzi for a good hour while the sun came up, looking up at the birds flying overhead. I finally met Scarlett and her 3 wonderful dogs in the homey main part of the house, which had a great computer and living room, and a dining room with all kinds of board games. She told me about how she'd moved into the house in the 60s and lived there ever since and raised a family. Back then, Calistoga didn't even have 1 restaurant. Eventually the other guests came in for breakfast (I think the whole place can hold only about 6 people so it's very cozy) and while we gorged ourselves on melons filled with berries, flavored sausages and french toast and fresh-squeezed OJ, we exchanged travelers' stories with strangers, just the way a B&B should be. Scarlett is very sweet and caring and she's also interesting - she has all kinds of water skiing trophies and she still competes. We had to tear out after breakfast, but next time we're going to stay for a couple of days so we can really enjoy all that the house and the surroundings have to offer. read more

We had a bad booking experience with this owner and her property. She reserved the property for us and told us it will be on hold of 24 hrs and she will send us the details for the deposit. In the meantime we made all other reservations and plans according to this location and she got back indicating another party made a deposit and she plans to give them the property. When we asked her this is not fair as we made other plans and had friends traveling from out of town who booked their air tickets and we transferred the deposit via paypal as requested by her, she replied "sorry" and refunded our deposit back. This IMO is a very poor business ethics and in a way I am glad I am not doing business with her. read more

Lucky to get this last minute booking for a weekend getaway. This charming place is tucked away from the busy hustle and bustle of the main Calistoga drag. Amongst the glorious surrounding vineyards and trees this recently remodeled treasure was absolutely perfect. My stay in the Arrowhead Room was marvelous, a rustic, clean and quaint space with its own private bathroom, separate entry and patio. I was pleased to find that this room is separate from the main house. The grounds are well kept with enough privacy to spend a much needed peaceful time to myself. Staying at Scarlett's Inn is a unique experience. It is different from a hotel. The best way to describe it is that it was like visiting a farm guest house with a very unobtrusive friendly host. There are only 3 suites, and we stayed in the one upstairs. Loved it! It was like having our own apartment to ourselves. The amenities looked very rustic and charming and cozy, but at a closer inspection were also very top-notch. I was especially impressed with the heater THAT MAKES NO NOISE as it heats up your room in 5 mins on a very cold night. It was very, very cold at nights during the fall when we were staying. We did not use the pool because of the cold, but Scarlett told us to use the jacuzzi for as long at night as we cared, and that was awesome. In the morning we had a very nice, very domestic breakfast served in the main house by Scarlett herself. The previous reviewer is right, it was like visiting a relative in the country. It was very unobtrusive, charming, cozy, laid-back experience, like a glimpse into a country life on a farm. I loved visiting so much, I want to come back again, for another charming get-away. read more
