    Beef Pepperoni

We were hanging out in LES and walked past this spot and immediately recognized it as one of the pizza places I wanted to try, so of course we walked right in. There was no line at all. I went in February on a Tuesday around 1PM, even during lunch time. They asked if we wanted "here or to-go." Me and my husband misunderstood at first and thought it meant we could sit inside with slices, but apparently if you're just getting slices it has to be to-go. I didn't really see anyone sitting down with slices anyway -- mostly whole pies. We got the Beef Pepperoni, just a classic choice. I liked the dough a lot. It was chewy with a little firmness that kind of reminded me of sourdough bread. Overall, it was a decent slice -- not mind blowing, but not bad at all. Definitely worth trying if you're in the area.

Visited Scarr's Pizza while in Manhattan. The atmosphere was classic NYC slice shop -- busy and energetic, and the service was good, with a slight wait. When you're in Manhattan, you better have a food plan, good runners, and an appetite. We popped in for a few slices -- the pizza was good, but not quite through-the-roof memorable. Overall, a good experience and worth stopping in if you're in the area, but not a must-go destination. Saluti.

((4.5 stars)) Scarr's is still thriving on Orchard Street, slinging pizza pies and slices on a busy block of the Lower East Side. it's in a much larger space than the original smaller location which was across the street. while there are lines on weekends and during traditional meal times, the waits and the lines themselves are shorter. mid-afternoon or late afternoon is a good time to go imo. i still wouldn't wait on a line for longer than a few minutes. serving pizza since 2016, Scarr's hasn't missed a beat in terms of its "The Original" slice (aka a plain cheese slice): DinNapoli Tomato Sauce, Caputo Bros. Mozzarella Cheese on a crust made from organic flour stone-milled in-house. the all natural / organic approach to the plain pizza slice is evident from top-to-bottom--flavorful sauce, rich creamy mozzarella, and an airy chewy thin crust. satisfying slice. will it change your life? nope. is it worth hours on line? nah. is it a good artisanal version of an New York slice? YES. set your expectations accordinglyand you will rarely be very disappointed. well that and make good food choices. most times, i just order to-go OR savage a slice outside like most Scarr's patrons. however the dining area is cool if you have time or want a traditional table service meals. btw, you can't order a pie or slice and sit down here...you have to do the whole table service thing and order at the table which makes sense. the interior vibe is still very much is a classy retro-ish pizzeria from decades long past. the service is more efficient now and you get your pizza in a more reasonable time than before. overall, Scarr's is now one of many reasons why Orchard Street has been revitalized and it shows.

Scarr's Pizza was an awesome spot, and I only wish I had more time to fully enjoy it. The place has a classic, old-school pizzeria feel, with arcade games and even a kid's birthday party going on while I was there, which all added to a really cozy, comfortable vibe. The food completely delivered. The vegan garlic knots were large, crispy, and fresh out of the oven with great garlic flavor. The standout was the 12" Hotboi pizza, which was perfectly balanced with spicy pepperoni, jalapeños, and Mike's Extra Hot Honey. It was so good and I regret that I didn't have time to finish it or take leftovers. I'll absolutely be back.

This was my first pizza ever in New York and like wow, amazing- i never knew pizza could be so good. Perfect experience. Its not fancy, kind of has that raw edge hole in the wall vibe where the pizza is hot, stuff covered in grease, and hip hop blasting throughout. The place that'll be there for you with its neon lights late night in the middle of nowhere. The seating inside is tight and pretty much just walk in. You can use card and order with the person in a square space, they have laminated menus. We ate the pizza out in the cold and it was such a vibe. Okay but the pizza, good crust, basic flavors. We each got a different flavor and I got to sample. The pepperoni jalapeno- spicy sweet with the hot honey, good mix. The pepperoni- i thought it wouldnt be different but the pepperoni had this smokiness. The mushroom pizza- perfect mushroom flavor. Good cheese, none of that soggy pull off the crust mess, crispy bottom crust, solid pizza topping flavors. Happy to have had this as my first ever NY pizza and now I get the hype.

I thought this place kind of an average pizza joint. Place tried to be trendy and hip for the younger demographics with the rap video and rap music playing in the background. There were also two arcade machines you can play with. I will say the place was spacious at least. Service could be better. The waiter wasn't the most attentive and when I was finished; I had to ask another waiter to come and get me the bill. All of the food wasn't brought out at the same time either since my friend had to wait on his Margherita slice, while we already the rest of our order. I tried two different slices - the Hotboi and the Margherita. The Hotboi was unique because I never had honey on a pizza before, but it actually works out. There was no overpowering sweetness. Also if you're afraid of the pizza being too spicy from the jalapeños, don't be as they're not too spicy. Hotboi was definitely a highlight compared to the Margherita, which was mediocre. I think I had like one basil leaf on my slice and it felt like the cheese was lacking. It's not a bad place for a pizza, but I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to return to it.

Now this is a proper NYC slice! Incredible pizza and an awesome vibe. Highly recommend popping in for a slice or pie if you're in the lower east side.

Made a reservation thru OpenTable with our Chase card. They're currently doing a promo in which you pay with a Chase card and get 10% off. Anyway, the vodka pesto and the meatballs were my favorite. Even the cheese slice easily blows away Joe's-- it's saucier, cheesier with a good crunchy crust. The meatballs were soft and tasted excellent with the cheese! Hotboi was good but I couldn't eat more than one slice of it because it was so heavy and oily. I liked the vibes of the place-- feels like a sports bar.

Another solid stop on our NYC pizza crawl. We got a slice of the Vodka pesto and pepperoni. The Vodka pesto was super popular and ran out a little before we got to order, but they had one firing up in the oven so we could order and wait. We snacked on the pepperoni while we waited for the slice, which helped pass the time. The vodka pesto was my favorite of the two, but the pepperoni was still good. Line was fairly long and moved a bit slower than most of the other places we went. There was no room to eat inside or out if you were ordering by the slice, but they did have a whole section for indoor dining if you were ordering a whole pie for there.

Had a late dinner later so stopped by for a quick bite. I got the vodka pesto slice and it was so good! The pesto, vodka sauce, and red sauce were all so flavorful and went well together. I love a saucy slice so this was amazing.

We shared individual slices of Vodka Pesto, Cremini Mushroom, and DJ Clark Kent Sicilian. Happy with the crispy and chewiness of most of the slices. Happy with the flavor and portion of toppings. One Sicilian slice, we're not sure, was lukewarm and soggy. Probably a one-off. Ordering was understandably, a little chaotic because it's such a narrow space for both the many many customers and the employees working the oven right behind the counter. I recommend ordering ahead if possible.

My husband and I shared a slice of Hotboi, which was beef pepperoni and hot honey. It was so good! It's also nice to get beef options since we don't often see that where we are. The slice was huge so we were able to split it and feel good for a snack. The service was great, and the inside of the shop has a cool ambiance to it.

Made reservations via Open Table and it was easy. Staff was friendly and attentive! Ordered the hotboi pizza- it was delicious- highly recommend if you in the mood for spicy ( but not too spicy). Also ordered the lychee east side cocktail- absolutely delicious- highly recommend if you like a sweet cocktail! Loved the music and atmosphere. Highly recommend!

After opening a number of successful bars in New York City, including Death & Company and Cienfuegos, DeRossi decided to open a new bar with a focus on rare, new, and unusual craft beer offerings. Originally opening in the St. Marks section of the East Village, Proletariat quickly earned a reputation for being one of the best craft beer bars in NYC. In June 2022, Proletariat moved to a new, larger space just two blocks away on East 7th Street. In addition to the excellent beer selection, the new location also features a kitchen that offers an array of plant-based dining options. I recently visited Proletariat while I was in the Village to see a concert. I arrived a few hours before the show so I could grab some beers and bites beforehand. Proletariat has been on my NYC craft beer bucket list for a while; they have an excellent reputation. There were maybe four other customers there when I arrived; I felt like I was entering a secret craft beer club. I really liked the wolf featured on the bar's logo. It was clearly a reference to the Latin botanical term for hops: "humulus lupulus", which roughly translates as "the little wolf that comes from the Earth". There were 20 impressive beers on draught during my visit. I decided to order a pour of The Drowned Lands Brewery's "Winnow" (Festbier). It was an excellent example of the style: light and malty. Afterwards, I went with a pour of Sante Adairius Rustic Ales' "The Sky and the Sea" (Blueberry Saison). This was a fantastic beer: nice and tart with delicious notes of blueberries.
