I've got 20+ escape rooms under my belt. My group of 4 players did the Mad Rapper room! $40 for each of us, no extra fees. It was a great and creative room: lots of "mini-games" (you'll see haha), little to no frustrating/broken puzzles, fantastic concept (LA Hip Hop, Rap scene). If you are a little more experienced group, I would say 4 people is perfect. Very experienced: 3 players. New to escape rooms? 5-6 players would be nice. Unlimited hints. Friendly staff. Production value is not too high (no crazy tech or whatever) but it didn't have to be. All objects in the room have meaning, which I love. Come have some fun! read more

I've been to 8 escape rooms so far, and I definitely think this is the BEST escape room I've experienced! I've experienced other escape rooms where we spend the entire hour trying to open locks or where the puzzle is stalling for time by having us search for a few items among many in the room. The Mad Rapper is nothing like these other escape rooms. It's very clear, this room is super well thought out. 1. The puzzles aren't linear, so people can break off and do their own thing 2. It's clear the creator keeps the players in mind. Each clue is very intentional and creative! 3. The tracks featured are all originals and created by the owner. We had so much fun! I would definitely recommend this room to anyone looking for a fun challenge! There's a new room coming soon, and I can't wait to get in and try it out once it's available! read more

One thing that stands out the most about this particular escape room game (The Mad Rapper) is the passion from the owner. Like much of what people have said previously, this game will not disappoint. The theme is definitely musical in nature, however, you do not need any knowledge of rap or hip-hop music in order to succeed in this escape room! The storytelling was set up very nicely. You start out with a video introducing the rules per usual, as well as the storyline behind the room you are about to experience. From there, the game only opens up even more, and was an amazing experience with great attention to detail. My boyfriend and I played and escaped with less than a minute to spare. It was definitely on the more challenging side, not necessarily puzzle-wise, but just because there was so much ground to cover for two people. It had a wonderful balance between puzzles that we needed to perform individually and split up, to puzzles that we needed to collaborate together in order to advance further. Together, we've played over 20 rooms. For some of those who are newbies to the escape room scene, I would probably suggest a team of 3-4 players in order to get the most out of the puzzles. Overall, the balance of the puzzles differed quite nicely; and was not all filled with lock-and-key type puzzles. The hint system was not the typical walkie-talkie system I was used to from other escape games, but involved you receiving hints from a screen. Hints are unlimited, but there is also a leaderboard for those seeking to attempt it! After we had escaped, the game master Eric had a lovely chat with the both of us. He took the time to ask us for our feedback on how to improve the game, if it needed any improvement. He also talked with us about what some of his other favorite games in the area were. You can tell he is a lover of all things escape rooms, and really takes pride in the work that he does. He even divulged to us that he created the beats that you hear throughout the experience! Big love for SCENAR10! We immersed ourselves in Mad Rapper when it first opened up a few years ago, loved every minute and tune, and successful escaped. This past weekend we happily stumbled our way into Dr. Hader Loses with our toddler and visiting family. We loved every twist, reveal, and song. The ending is super rewarding!! Done both rooms here (Mad Rapper and Dr. Hader Loses) and both are excellent!!! I cannot say which I enjoyed more since both were are spectacular. The storyline/theme was awesome. Not just your typical, "you're locked in a prison/dungeon and you have one hour to escape before the warden comes back". Nonetheless, I enjoy those too but the story here is on another level. Puzzles are unique and not just your typical lock and key or combination variety. They do have some but it is just not lock and key set after lock and key set. Overall, the puzzles were not that difficult to solve which is good thing because the goal according to Eric (the owner) is for you to have a good time. My definition of a good time is succeeded/escaping within the time frame with minimal help. Not getting frustrated with puzzles because they don't make sense happens to us in other escape rooms. Scenario escape room's name would always come up from other escape rooms I've done. Well I finally tried one of their rooms, Mad Rapper, and it did not disappoint. The room is rated hard but if you have experience you should be fine. There's a good combination of classic and unique puzzles and a few we definitely overthought. There were some minor details that act as a red herring which I'm not a fan of. There's a few puzzles that simply rely on skill and those are always fun. The only thing that may discourage some younger players is the PG-13 material on some of the tasks. There's also a delay after solving some of the puzzles which confused us into thinking it wasn't solved. But we still had a great time. So much fun we booked their other room, Dr. Hader Loses. Similar to Mad Rapper, but could be misleading and I won't spoil. We did encounter a technical difficulty that took a lot time out of our hands but we figured it out. Definitely another room you could overthink things. Both rooms are pretty fun. Between the two, I enjoyed Mad Rapper the most. read more

SIGNATURE DETAILED VERSION - So this is the underground music escape room that's been generating all the buzz since its opening. Well then, does Scenario live up to its hype? Does this escape game bring a strong enough... uh... game? Oh gosh, I apologize. I am so bad at hip hop puns. But get ready for a handful more. But first, let's divert your attention from my bad jokes to Eric, the owner. Eric, nice guy, loves music, hip hop to be exact. He writes, produces, and raps. He is familiar with the hip hop scene, its representation, and its underlying culture. He also loves escape rooms. So he took one part music passion, one part puzzle fun, mix 'em up, and out came "The Mad Rapper". The Mad Rapper, the latest industry sensation, is now hosting auditions--do you qualify to join his squad? The influence of hip hop and (mild spoiler) its association of gang culture is deeply woven into this game, and I myself would describe Rapper as a more condensed and more PG-13 version of the highly revered "Stash House" in K-town. Whereas the makers of Stash House explicitly warns its audience of its mature contents, Rapper, for the most part, is suitable for players as young as high school students. Middle school youngsters... iffy; sit this one out. A mission veiled as purely a musical job interview, hopeful prospects will realize there's a price to join the Rapper's squad. And though there's an ongoing narrative that advances the plot, this isn't a heavily story driven escape room. My one related critique is when transitioning from one part of the game to the next, segue is lacking, and thus, the story's pacing and flow seems choppy. HOWEVER, as the business name implies (and explained by Eric), these parts are analogous to scenarios, or scenes, within a movie. And like real life movies, scene to scene progression sometimes involve sudden shift in location, mood, or tone. In short, just go with it! And indeed, much of the charm of Rapper derives from the range of puzzles you gotta solve and its overall feel-good vibe. If you strip away its gangster, excuse me, gangsta theme, at its core the game is actually extremely children friendly, and at one point reminded me of "Carnival E. Scape" in Claremont. There are several hands-on moments that are unexpectedly physical, and one particular skill based mission is easily the highlight of the night. Also, bringing your coordination A-game is highly recommended. Other puzzles aptly incorporated elements of hip hop music, and as mentioned, urban and street cultures. A music audition in name, but a classic escape room at heart, most riddles encountered will be familiar in format to enthusiasts. So even if you're not a fan of the music genre, or even music in general (ummm, what, who doesn't like music), fret not: this is still most definitely primarily a puzzle forward entertainment. In fact, as opposed to the more task based, or "immersion focused" new rooms flooding into LA, it's pleasing to see Scenario sticks to the basics and gives us some solid brainteasers, in a large variety no less. Those with music instrument background may have a clear advantage in one puzzle. Mad lyricist skills don't hurt either. Room is rated as "challenging" at its official site... eh. I'd give it a 7 on the difficulty scale. I don't think Eric meant for this to be dauntingly hard--just the right amount of hurdle to make you feel accomplished, and I am sure the staff can even cater to beginners for a satisfying experience. In other words, everyone, novice or expert, will have a good time. Visually, Rapper is decent and above average; expect graffiti galore. Audibly, this is technically a unique to Scenario experience. Keep your ears open for the business's own original soundtrack, 100% crafted for this room and this room only by the owner. To be able to fuse his passions and talents from two seemingly non-overlapping categories into one fluid product, this is one of the main reasons why this venue has been able to garner the fanfare and respect, including mine, that it well deserves. Grab a couple of friends (group of 3 to 4 is ideal), drive to Brea, and go audition. To be honest, as of today, Scenario is quite well known within the SoCal escape room community. So much fun!!! Don't let the theme of this escape room scare you! You dont need any music/rap skills at all to have fun in this room. I had a total blast experiencing the room. I was doing this room for my 21st birthday and my group had an amazing time playing all sorts of different and challenging puzzles. In my opinion, I think thee Mad Rapper is fitting for any group whether you've played a handful of rooms or over 100. It's a lot of hands on puzzles that involve everyone in the room wIthout leaving anyone out. We played this room with a total of 3 people who have all played 70-120 escape room and I've gotta say, it was so much fun! A nice cherry on top was a little personalized card was left in the final puzzle by the owner, Eric. Really made the experience that much more special! Thank you for an awesome time! read more

This escape room is it! I love the theming and the puzzles are both really well thought out. We did both the Mad Rapper and Dr Hader in one day. There are a variety of activities that are done in each room so you feel both challenged and supported. The hosts are friendly and helpful, bathroom is clean and it's a great activity for all groups. I've done about 6 different escape rooms at this moment and I can say this is one of the most fun I've had at any escape room. I'm not new to escape rooms. I've done 70. In fact, this was #70 for me! And this was the perfect pick to celebrate that milestone. All my feedback is positive. No negatives on this one. The game master was amazing. The escape room lobby was so beautifully crafted with painted murals representing the escape room themes. After watching the intro videos, we hear music playing, and it's the "music studio" we are about to enter. I'm not here to spoil anything, so I won't. The decor was so on point, the design was definitely perfected, and the puzzles were so clever. We had an absolute blast and highly, highly recommend the Mad Rapper escape room at Scenario. I highly recommend this escape room for adults! This is one of the most fun games I've played in months. (I play A LOT of escape rooms.) It is well designed, good set/props, unique puzzles, and overall a lot of fun. I really liked the storytelling. I thought the Rapper theme was unique. I absolutely loved the physical challenges/puzzles. There is a good mix of different types of puzzles and things to do. The folks there are really nice and passionate about the business. Amazing customer service. Overall I really enjoyed it and had a really really fun time!!! Note for those that know me: I only mention this for those that follow my reviews because I always mention it if it comes up in other games & haunts. There is one prop that kinda bugged me toward the end because of of personal beliefs, but it totally fits the theme and was done in a way that feels organic. This was a surprise Fathers Day treat for my husband. We loved it! Games and decor were very creative and unlike other escape rooms we've done. We managed to escape with 3 minutes to spare. I've done 20 or 30+ escape rooms and probably a majority of the escape rooms in Orange County. My friend group and I all love escape rooms in general and are pretty experienced. We did the Mad Rapper room at Scenario Escape Room, and we all came out very impressed. It's not the most standout room we've seen in terms of production value, game design, or gimmicks/wow factor, but it's extremely solid in all of three of these aspects, and the experience was greater than the sum of its parts. There were some innovative puzzles and gimmicks that I haven't seen before despite having played many rooms, and it was tuned at a very good level of difficulty. We never really got super stuck, but it didn't feel like we breezed through it either. All of the puzzles felt very doable, and we were able to reason through them without ever having to get "lucky" or only partially understand the solutions. The room was also multi-stage/environment with plenty of space, which is always nice. It was also possible to work in parallel at many points in the room without a single bottleneck, so everybody could contribute and stay engaged. Since the room was music themed, there was obviously a lot of music featured in the room with a constant soundtrack, and even though they avoided licensed/popular music, the original music and other music they used never got too annoying or bad, which I appreciate. The only knock my group had on the room was that there are a few activities that are somewhat dexterity/physical in nature, which is just not our preference. These weren't egregious though and we got through them okay. One final positive thing was that the staff and owner were super nice and accommodating. We had a pleasant chat before and after doing the room, and they were able to accommodate us bringing a baby in too the room and even being a little late to the appointment. The bathrooms were freshly cleaned when I went too. Haha. read more

This place is amazing! I've done over 60 unique escape rooms myself and I'd easily put both of their rooms up in my top 10 favorites. Especially Mad Rapper, it is a must do! Both rooms had incredible decor and even better music. I caught myself dancing every chance I got. I also think it's important to mention how unique the puzzles are. They are very individual and crazy exciting. I want to shout out the employees that were working with my group today during Mad Rapper. Their names are Nate and Leanne and they were amazing. This room cracks my top 5 easily and I've done over 80 rooms. Eric the owner is great and we had a long chat with him about how he designed and created the room. This escape room was SO MUCH FUN!! This was my first time doing an escape room and wow it was a blast! Will 1000% going back to try out the other room. My 2 friends and I (3 of us total) did the Dr. Hader Loses room in February 2023 and it was so much fun. A clever story and was very entertaining. The guys working the front desk was super chill, engaging, and made the whole experience really fun and comforting. My group and I were about 10-15 minutes late due to weather storms and the front guys were very understanding and welcoming and still let us do the whole room within the guarantee time. 100% recommend coming here! Only downfall was that the room was sort of small for a larger group, so I was suggest a group of no more than 6 should do it, but around 4 people would be the perfect team for this game.
