As much as I'd like to write a glowing review, my husband and I and our best friends decided to meet for a burger here. It's been a couple of years since we have gone there. The Positive: The service was quick and they were very friendly. The downside: The hamburgers were nothing to rave about. All 4 of us complained about the same thing...no flavor. We were very disappointed. Also my chocolate milkshake hardly tasted like chocolate. Another disappointment since I rarely get a milk shake. Also, they really need a restroom. Its also a little steep for an old burger joint that doesn't have the "best" burgers around. Sorry folks, these are not the best burgers. Not even close. This will probably be my last visit to Scenic Drive Inn. I hope they will continue to have plenty of patrons, but I sadly will not be one of them. read more

I've been coming here since I was a little girl. Glad I decided to live close enough to come often. Today I came with my daughter and tried their new Beer battered fish sandwich and a peach shake. My daughter had the cheese sticks. They had my shake ready quickly and started talking to me about my daughter and asked what I was having ( I'm pregnant) the lady was super sweet. She must be new, I've never seen her before. My food was ready quick too. It wasn't that busy yet. I was a little disappointed with my shake, not as peachy as usual. But not docking any stars since this is a rare occasion. I loved my sandwich! It was delicious, the fish was fresh and the tomato and sauce was so yummy. Wow! 'Nuff said. Been dying to try this place out for quite a long time and finally did! My daughter and I went here today and now have a new go to spot! The shakes are wonderful -- so fresh! The onion rings are the best I've had in years. My only complaint was that they were gone in the blink of an eye! The fried mushrooms were crispy and juicy...! We split a knockout burger and let me just say it did not disappoint! If you haven't tried this place out, you're truly missing a Modesto gem! Love their burger and their price. It didn't bug me to have the cemetery close to it, that could be a good place to go for Halloween. Really nice peoples, and huge, good burgers. I'm not a fan of burgers but I go back there since I tried it. If you don't know you will probably not stop there. It doesn't look nice from the outside, but man.... that's so good!!!! 5 Stars? YES 5 Stars. The place looks old and run down, BUT! dont let that fool you. This place has the best hamburger i have tasted to date, and i have had a BurGr from Chef Ramseys place! The 2 ladys working there were Very nice and survred up the food piping hot with Frys and a coke. you might get a little price locked, But the price is worth ever penny to every bite. There Menu is compleat with chicken or viggie style burgers and fish as well. If you like the Mile high or Western from Carls jr? This dubbles the size and Taste 100% better. Why? becouse they use Real bacon! and its yummy! I will Return over and over. They do have a small parking lot. so dont drive a big truck. but fill the car and injoy. This place is a recent find for me and my family! My little brother absolutely loves their burgers. I am vegan so I haven't had the food here but I take my brother here often and, in his words: It has that great taste of cooking them yourself on the barbecue - even better than In-n-Out. His favorite is the Giant Cheeseburger. We have never had any fries or shakes here but hope to try it someday. Since they are making things on the spot, it usually takes a good 10-15 minutes for the order to be completed. It's not a big deal since you can just sit on the benches outside (pretty clean and tidy) or just stay in your car. You can also call your order in ahead of time and then pick it up. The nice thing about this place is that it closes at 7:00 PM, where more quick dining restaurants that aren't fast food close by 5:00 PM. It works out really well because my brother finishes school late and is usually starving by the time I get him. NOTE: It's literally just on the side of Scenic Drive, just west before Coffee Road (on the same side of the street as the cemetery). It can be easy to miss if you're not thinking about it so don't drive past it! NOTE 2: There is a credit/debit card usage fee if you don't have over... $4 or so. I usually pay in cash. Was driving down scenic road when my sister pointed out this cute little drive in burger place. It was our first time ever eating here and we were not disappointed. This is probably one of the best burgers we've had in years. We ordered the Texas Knock Out burger and some chili cheese fries. The burger was full of flavor and the onion rings were crispy just the way I like it. They don't shy away on the bacon like other burger restaurants and the bbq sauce and jalapeño bell peppers have it that kick of savory goodness. The chili cheese fries were fresh with chili cheesy goodness. The burger was so good that I ordered a second before we left. The fries were okay but the burger was bland and the patty was PERFECTLY circle like it was some cheap frozen meat. The 2 stars is only because the service was okay and the fries were good. Talk about a turn for the worse since change of ownership years ago. I have given the new owners three chances with visits over the past couple years. This place is of what it used to be. The food is nowhere near as good as it used to be, the owner is rude and obnoxious. The first time I visited they were actually arguing with each other while taking orders. I thought maybe they were just stressed being new etc. They actually shrunk the serving size of the French fries... I guess with the bad service and bad food they cannot afford to give the same size the previous owners could. Used to be the only place you could get a good knockout burger, those days are gone.
