Scammers. Probably never even looked under the hood. Asked minimum $5,000 for a transmission rebuild. Gave some imaginary reasons. Took it to a different shop and it was discovered there's nothing wrong with the transmission. Even the fluid is fine. Cables on the battery were loose and caused the computer to malfunction. Not sure who these people are exactly. I feel sorry for anybody who has to deal with them. I pray everybody else has better luck. read more

THANK YOU DOUG & DAVID!! We came as total strangers and left Shuck's as VERY grateful fans! We were on the way on a Friday afternoon to two horse events in the Sierras when our Suburban started acting up. It felt like the gears were jerking into place every now and then. It was intermittent, but very concerning as we were headed to a rural location on a holiday weekend pulling a horse in a trailer, We were very concerned about breaking down with no help available. We called one transmission shop nearby and he was closing early, but he referred us to Shuck's. Doug told us to come in and they would check things out. We rolled in at 4:00 - they close at 5:00. David came out immediately, checked our transmission fluid, said it looked good, and given the description he diagnosed it as engine misfire from a potentially failing spark plug, He assured us that we could continue safely which was a HUGE relief as we had thought we'd have to turn around and miss out on our qualifying competitions. But, with David's advice, we went on our weekend trip, had a great time with our friends and in the competition, and then headed home to our regular mechanic. With in a few hour of having my truck they isolated the issue and was able to complete the rear end build in a very timely manner. The staff at Schuck's are all very personable and the vibe in their office during check out was welcoming and felt like family and friends who enjoy working with each other. I was referred to Schucks by a person who works at a local auto dealership (that alone says something). My son recently got a used 2008 Chevy Cobalt, and we were advised that it might need a new clutch. I don't mind paying for a new clutch if it really needs one, but the car seemed fine to me. The guy at the dealership said that Schucks would take a look at my son's Cobalt and tell me the truth regarding whether it really needs a clutch repair. Sure enough, the folks at Schucks checked over the car, tested it, and told us it seemed fine. They advised me to simply come back if and when we have any trouble, but they did not want to charge me for any unnecessary work at this time. In this day and age, it is really refreshing to find an auto repair shop that is there to repair your car When It Actually Needs It, and not just to make a buck off of you because you happened to bring your car in for an inspection. I had the transmission on my 1992 Ford F150 rebuilt by Schuck's back around September last year. They did a phenomenal job and even invited me and my 8th grade son to come over and look at it all disassembled. That was cool. A few weeks ago, I noticed a leak. I brought it in to get it checked. The leak wasn't coming from the rebuilt transmission, but from where the transmission connects to the truck. Schucks is an absolute gem. I brought in my car when I could sense some transmission issues, and Schuck's was quick take it in and diagnose the issue. Unfortunately the issue is pretty big and would be pretty costly. This shop was incredibly upfront and honest with me, and told me that the work would cost more than the value of the car, so it wasn't worth it to repair. Instead, he suggested some options for short-term maintenance to keep it running as long as possible, buying me little time before retiring the car. I know many shops who would be quick to gouge me for any money they could, but Schucks was super transparent and trustworthy. Brought my car with obvious power steering problem. The steering wheel was obviously very stiff and it was making a loud sound. Two previous mechanics (including the dealership) told me the rack and pinion needed to be replaced, but one of them told the pump also needed to be replaced simultaneously and the other did mention anything about the pump. Schuck's first recommended "nothing to be done" because the car "was fine". When I told them there was obviously something wrong, they checked again and said only the pump needs to be replaced, and the rack and pinion was working well. I trusted them and asked to replaced the pump, as they recommended. At the end, they told me how great the car was after they fixed it, but that "all Buicks will have a sound like that. It is normal and there is nothing you can do about". I literally drove it for a minute to realize there is little to nothing changed. I took it to another mechanic who recommended to replace the rack and pinion and the pump (although I had only driven with the new pump for 4 miles), because the metal pieces got pushed from the old rack and pinion into the new pump, and that they have to be replaced simultaneously. They did that and the car was completely normal (the "normal" sound also disappeared). Long story short, I spent more than $700 on a new pump for nothing, and I had replaced it again. I don't think they meant harm, but if they only know how to deal with transmission, they should stick with that and not improvise on other issues. I stiff feel awful about north of $700 literally going to waste. read more

Jeep Cherokee 2015 (86,000) couldn't go into reverse had it towed to Tracy Dodge (they said out of warranty) and they couldn't figure it out what was wrong with it.Jeep towed home. Called Schucks and they said they would figure it out for us ,towed it again. They figured out what was wrong with it , they replaced the transmission and then had to bring it to Jeep (Walnut Creek) to repair the power train module and it was under warranty after all Jeff & Alex did a fantastic job explaining what they found and their plan on how to fix it. They replaced my transmission and it didn't shift right so they replaced it under warranty. The new transmission started to leak a few months later and they said the seal was bad and they re-used the old one. Wouldn't repair it unless I paid the labor. Then recommended putting an additive in to stop the leak which didn't work. read more

Took my truck here since it was leaking some fluids from the rear end. They are a very honest shop and didn't try to sell me something I didn't need. Turns out it was leaking from the vent plug and then they serviced it. They kept it all week driving it around to see if it continued to leak and only charged me an hr of labor+ oil. This is only my second Yelp review I typically never take the time to do this. I have found my GO TO shop for my family, friends and all of you. I had to take the time to say how HAPPY I am with the service I received from Schuck's Transmission. I came in with a rear transmission seal that was leaking and the two gentlemen and the young lady at the front took care of me. They were able to give me a spot on quote and knew what the problem was. They went above and beyond and made repairs and sealed the yoke rather then charge me for a new one. Replaced the real seal, new transmission filter and gasket. The undercarriage of my Toyota Tundra was covered with transmission fluid and they took the time to wipe it down. I have lived in the tri-valley for 56 years and places like this are hard to find and I wished I discovered this shop sooner. Please try out this shop and let them work magic for you.
