The space is open and bright, perfect for meeting a group of friends after work or on the weekends. The service was "order at the counter," but the staff was welcoming and helpful and did not rush us. They have a great selection of alcohol, and their food menu is quite good, with food items one would expect for a bar establishment. When your food is ready, you are paged and pick it up from a different counter. We each had a hot sandwich (one with fries and one with tots). The bread on the sandwiches was soft, and everything on the sandwiches was tasty. The fries and tots were crispy and warm. I would definitely return! read more

Schussboom is one of my favorite places to go in Reno. Food: Top 5 wings in Reno, maybe higher. All of their flavors are delicious but our favorites are tatanka and stick yaki. Their tater tots are to die for, and they have several flavor options. Really solid pizza too with some unique flavors. Drinks: Awesome beer selection that they brew themselves. They've got such a variety that any beer lover will find something. Atmosphere: Skiing themed brewery with really cool decor and seating options. There is a lot of family style seating with long tables that you share with other guests, which is not a problem. They've also got outdoor seating in the shade and an upper patio. Service: 10/10 always have a great time with the bartenders and other employees. If you're visiting Reno or live here and haven't gone, you must! read more

This restaurant is more of a self-serve restaurant than I expected. Orders were taken at the front counter and paid for at the same time. If I had known at the time, I paid that the service was super limited, I would not have left a tip. You were given a beeper, and when it vibrates your order is ready at a different counter. Drinks are also self serve. Of course, not the alcoholic drinks. I ordered the Asian Persuasion Wrap , with the addition of a Greek salad and iced tea to drink. My husband ordered the Pork Sliders with an add on of fries and Pepsi. There was a nice young man who helped me carry our food to the table. He also brought ketchup for my husband's fries. When I realized that we needed salt and pepper, I noticed a shelf near the kitchen area that you could help yourself. I was also able to help myself to take home containers. I did have to ask someone in the kitchen for a bag to put all the containers in. That being said, the food was delicious. That wrap was huge and I could barely eat a quarter of it after I had eaten my salad and stolen some of my husband's delicious fries. One complaint that I really do have is that the music was loud. It would be nice if the dining area music was a little more subtle compared to the bar side. Also, it was extremely loud in the restroom. It did not make for an enjoyable time. I really want to like Schussboom...I DO! But, in the three years that I have lived here and probably 8-10 visits in that time, there always seems to be some sort of issue here. I have met the owners Jeremy and his sister (I cant recall her name) and they are super awesome folks. They are doing a lot of cool and different things/events/themes to market the place and are all over social media and email with advertising events, promotions etc. The place has fabulous beer, good to very good food and a happy cool vibe (usually). The issue is with service. Service always seems to be a problem here and I was reminded of that with my recent visit on Father's day. I haven't been here in 8-10 months (other than for propane refills) but quickly I remembered why I haven't visited in awhile. We had a reservation, walked in and waited at the reception barrel. Easily waited 10-12 mins without anyone even looking at us let alone greeting us. I finally asked one of the staff working the register for dining room orders and she said that the girl who checks in reservations is busy taking orders right now and will be with us in a bit. After a few more minutes of waiting we were finally greeted and led to our seats at the bar. Once again no greeting as we sat down, no recognition that we were there, we were ignored by the two bartenders (Carli and Alli) for the next 5-7 mins or so as they walked by us multiple times. Then, just as I thought that we were going to be addressed, one of the bartenders came up to the previously seated folks next to us to ask if they needed drink refills......we still had not been greeted or addressed. Carli finally laid down some napkins and said she would get us waters. I quickly said we wanted to order as I didn't want to wait much longer again. She was pleasant and eager to help us at this point. It was apparent that Alli, one of the bartenders was clearly having a really bad day. She had a horrible attitude and continued to sigh repeatedly, toss things and slam down glasses, bottles or anything she had her hands on. No smile or any friendly behavior whatsoever. It was off-putting at best to watch her behavior and attitude. I needed some silverware and plates and not wanting to wait to see a bartender, I decided to go over to the food pickup/kitchen area to grab some. There were forks but no knives. I asked at the counter but she said that there was none available at the time. What? no knives? I also heard several patrons mention that they were struggling to eat breakfast without a knife. These examples above may seem like minor issues but they add up and start to peck away at the experience you have while dining and drinking at an establishment. I understand that staff are people too and can have bad days, but when working in the service industry you need to step up and overcome. read more

Kept hearing about this place so after another local pizza place had a line out the doo, we decided to check it out! As is typical in Reno on a Saturday night, it was SLAMMED. For this place you seat yourself and then order at the counter. We didn't have any issues finding a table for our family of 3 but the line to order did take a little bit to get through. For how busy it was I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly the food was ready. We were fully prepared for it to take up to an hour but it was probably only 20 mins or so! Pizza was delicious and the beers were fantastic. We will definitely be back again. Only suggestion I have is I wish they had some sours! read more

Schussboom is such a great place. I know it may be hard to imagine that there is a gold-winning World Beer Cup brewery in Reno, but here it is. Top-tier microbrews that rotate frequently. The owner will even show the hops they use if you are lucky enough to be there when they come in. I can attest personally the hops are green, fresh, and pungent. Jacob just brought me Safety Meeting ver 4.20 and a I Chit You Not. So good. The food is great. My go-tos are the barbecue wings, yuppie pizza, and focaccia. Whatever you do, do not get the Gorgonzola fondue--they are too good, and it's not fair for a place to serve something that delicious. Lastly, I have to mention the music. On some days, like today (Tuesday), Carly plays modern indie rock. I Shazam here and play the music at other bars like a DJ hero. read more

Went here for dinner and drinks with a friend after work on Monday and had a great time. We found a nice table in the bar area. It is Maragrita Monday at Schusboom and margaritas are half price so we promplty placed an order! Drink and food orders are taken at the counter. They will take your name and they call your name to pick up drinks when ready. Very easy process. Next we ordered the Turn 'n Burn specialty pizza. It is house-made chorizo, pickled jalapeños, pickled red onion, tomatillo salsa, cotija cheese, crema, and cilantro. This pizza is huge! Both of us took home enough leftovers for two more meals each! The crust is thin and a very thick crust. I would have liked a crisper crust but that is my personal preference. I also felt it was really light on the toppings. The flavor was very good, a nice spicy kick from the jalapeños. I would have liked a lot more chorizo especially. I think a heavier amount of toppings would have made the overall taste pop a lot more. The service was exceptional. Very friendly and courteous. They provide you with a fob that goes off when your pizza is ready for pick up by the kitchen. The staff there was so kind as to actually deliver the pizza to our table which was a nice bonus. We ended the night ordering beer from their extensive list of options. I had the It's Modern: West Coast Double IPA. I love IPA and this was so good! My friend ordered the Kegstand Kolsch and she said she would order again. Had a great Monday night and we definitely plan to go back. read more

The food sucks. Ordered what we thought was 2 sandwiches that had hot ingredients and or contents in them. Well...we were incorrect in that assumption. Food was cold. Chicken tenders were cold and rubbery. Turkey was old and slimy and the sauce was some sort of miracle whip based garbage. The beer we wanted was all out. We took a suggestion from the order counter guy ND yuck. Beer was meh. Mid grade wanna be micro brew me too beer. The restaurant set up also was so confusing. Stand in line with crowds right at the door so you dont know who is actually in line. Then so many people just hanging out near there waiting for their name to be called out was more confusing. You didn't know who was standing there for what. They call your name over the intercom but it is not even audible over the radio playing full blast. Never gave me my fountain drink glass. Had to go ask for it multiple times. I would not recommend this place for food or drinks. The only cool things was the building. Thats about it. Sorry Schussbottom you definitely missed the mark. My family and I came here to eat lunch today. We drove up from Sacramento to try out this brewery spot. We arrived before noon and wanted to try their lunch menu. I didn't know they only serve breakfast at that time. We didn't want to wait until noon to order lunch and didn't want to drive to another place, so we've settled for their breakfast. The food was just ok. Nothing special. I ordered their traditional breakfast. The biscuit was good. It was our first time here, so we didn't know how things worked. You have to get up and get condiments yourself. No one told us this, not even the gal who brought out our food. Love coming to Schussboom, it's such a family friendly place with a fun ski lodge vibe. The staff here are always so friendly and they have a fun area for kids to play in while you wait for your food. This is our second time here and we tried out the beer flights, always amazing beer here, love the unique flavors, and the best part, they come on a little ski lift! Love it! For the food we tried out the Thai Dye wings which had a unique fun peanut flavor, cant wait to try out some other flavors as well. We also had the Med Pizza which so far is one of my favor pizzas from here, it's a must try. If you find ordering at the counter a little stressful for making those hard decisions on your beer flight and your pizza flavor, we discovered you can order from your table! There's also a 21 and over area so if you don't want kids around, you can sit there! My husband and I have gone here multiple times prior to having kids and we love going here! Ordering is easy! I have been meaning to stop in here for a while. I didn't order food, so I'll have to go back again to experience the menu, and give another review. I am normally a wine or cocktail drinker, but I do actually enjoy beer. They have a wide variety of beers to offer. They will let you do a taster of any of the beers, which is always appreciated. I am always a huge fan of flights, so you can try several options. My first flight was light and fruit forward beers. The flight is 4 choices. I would reorder all of them for sure. My second flight was a selection of saisons and the dubbel. Again, loved them all. All 3 bartenders were so friendly and attentive. I was there by myself and they all checked in with me frequently and chatted with me to keep me company when they weren't super busy. The atmosphere is pretty casual and if it weren't so windy I would have maybe taken advantage of their outdoor area, which has cozy fire pits. read more

The dough was good tho, I liked how the dough is oven baked. We also got the garlic Parmesan tots which just seemed nothing spectacular and frankly too salty. The other thing we got were the plain chicken wings, it was very dry and just underwhelming. The service was good tho, very helpful when we asked questions and very kind. The overall ambiance is nice too, looks like an old garage with like chairs from like a ski lift. They have a cute little area for kids with a tv that plays kid shows and blocks to play with. This is quickly becoming one of my and my husbands favorite place in town. We tried it on a whim 2 months ago and have been coming back every couple of weeks since. The food is delicious with a variety of bar style options that are reasonably priced. The drinks are AMAZING. I'm not much of a beer drinker myself, and am very pleased with the variety and quality of the cocktails they offer. My husband loves their beer selection and the indoor/outdoor ambiance. The staff is always friendly and quick. You will be seeing us a lot more, especially as the summer rolls in. I've been here twice now a year a part from eachother and both times we had a blast! We have our welcome dinner for Race for the Rail here and I look forward to it so much! We came with a large group and really enjoyed ourselves. The pizzas are amazing my favorite is "the med" I also really like their Caesar salads and the Lavender lemonade is STELLAR! There's an outside area with a Fire pit and a back outdoor covered area as well. I recommend this place for a casual date or group or for a party or team meeting.
