Full disclosure.Unfortunately, I have dietary issues that prevented me from trying a lot of the things I would have loved to have had. They have your typical brewery fair with a lot of fried options that looked quite yummy, actually, but unfortunately, I was unable to taste myself. Several of my friends eat here often and they love the food. One friend loves the StickyYaki wings and they certainly look delicious. Everything looks really yummy and if you don't have dietary restrictions, you'll have a lot of options that you won't be disappointed with. That being said, they are not very flexible with addressing dietary and allergy restrictions. I personally have had colitis for over a year now which means no fried food, no fresh vegetables or certain fruits, nothing spicy, only lean meats and surprisingly, I'm okay with carbs. Two other members of our party were vegetarian. I had to be creative in "designing" a meal I could enjoy while dining with my friends and landed on the Turkey and Brie sandwich. Because of my dietary restrictions I had asked to remove the apple, arugula and onion compote and substitute avocado (since there was avocado on their brunch menu). This appeared to be a bit of a problem as I was told the owner does not like to make alterations to the menu. Ultimately they did it for me after some time clearing it in the back but I was told they could not guarantee they "could do it again next time" which is a shame because the house-made focaccia bread was incredible! The turkey was tender, thinly sliced and very flavorful. The Brie was perfectly sliced and portioned. The tarragon aoli was the perfect finish. The avocado was the addition the doctor ordered so I could get some nutrients. My vegetarian friend ordered the Caprese sandwich. She sortof liked it but was also disappointed. The menu has basil on the sandwich and spring but there was no basil just arugula. Perhaps this was an issue with being out of the ingredient with their new breakfast and brunch menu which means she didn't finish it. I *was* able to reap the reward of getting her focaccia bread though. Overall, it's a pretty good place and I didn't want to give them three stars just for our personal dietary issues. I did need to take one away though, for the way they handle the requests overall. Unfortunately, we live in a world where people have dietary problems, restrictions and allergies. Not everyone is capable of staying on menu. With a little more flexibility, this could be a five star restaurant and if I know that, I can have that flexibility and will definitely be back. read more

Admittedly I was underwhelmed by Schussboom when they opened while the food was great the brewery side of things felt unrefined. But WOW has that situation changed. The kitchen is still putting out awesome food, they added some great desserts and the beers are amongst the better coming from the area breweries. The wings are good sized with good sauces and while I didn't get any this last trip they have a solid round-up of fries and tots as well. The pizza crust is on point and I appreciate the unique set of toppings. The dining room and bar is decked out in ski gear (schussboom!) with plenty of benches and tables inside and outside to easily accommodate decent sized party. read more

Tried their new weekend breakfast out this past week and wow! Super good! I had the chorizo breakfast burrito which was huge - like really huge! Very tasty too with lots of meat. My husband had the chicken fried steak which was also a large portion but maybe not his favorite of all time. You order at the counter and they bring your food out to the table for you when it's ready. The bar area has some smaller tables (2-4 tops) while the main dining area has long tables for shared seating. Will definitely go back! read more

$15 salad Asian was incredibly small. It was a small bowl, a handful of salad, about 10 cm long pieces of chicken and then covered in wanton strips. It was just a little bigger than the side salad. The tots portion was huge which helped fill me up. But was so hungry I had to go to Carls Jr. afterwards to get a burger. Place is also not very dog friendly. Many breweries in CA are dog friendly (inside and outside) so it was surprising to see all the "no dogs" signs posted. Shussboom is a favorite if we are in south Reno. Today when we came in it looked like a big event had reserved out a large section of resturant area so we sat at the bar. I know the wait can be a while with lots of people, but I also know it is worth the wait because they strive for quality every time. Beers are always delish, and I missed taking a picture of the Tatanka wings because I've been dreaming of them and devoured too quickly. The wild west pizzais a BBQ and meatball combo with fried onions and green onions. Meatballs my be a competitor now in bbq pizzas for me. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I really enjoyed it. I always love coming to Schussboom because 1. The beers are always different. 2. Food is consistently good. 3. And most importantly, there's a kids play area. It's the perfect place for us to grab food and beer when we don't have a babysitter. It can get loud - There seems to always be some sort of birthday party or kids sports team celebrating something. There is a 21+ only bar area if this is something that will bother you. The restaurant is big with a nice outdoor seating area as well. There is a calendar of deals going on every day. I came here a few months ago and have been dreaming about the tater tots! I ordered them again in a heart beat and they were so good as usual! Highly recommend getting the salt & vinegar seasoning on them. We also ordered the Forager pizza. I could have done without the aged balsamic as it was a bit too sweet. It looked like all of South Reno was at Schussboom on Christmas Eve Eve. There wasn't a single table available. It's self-seating, so with 9 of us I didn't think we stood a chance. We were about to leave when a really nice group of people alerted us that they were getting ready to leave and we could have their table. Wow, was it a great time!! The ambiance was festive, everything was beautifully decorated and what better food than Pizza and Beer. We come here often and the Pizza here is among our favorites. We had the Mambo Combo and Pepperoni Pizzas. I love the crust, not too thin, not too thick with the right amount of Crispy goodness. The sauce is also really good. We came with family visiting from out of town that had 2 little girls, so they appreciated the play area and complimentary stickers. We love Schuussboom, always a great experience. read more

Pizza is okay, the crust is basically non-existent where the toppings are. It basically like eating cardboard but crispy. The back part of the crust is nice and fluffy, it would be nice if they didn't pull the crust so thin so there was actually more to the pizza when eating it. I was passing through town on a trip from California to Idaho with my trailer. Landed on Schussboom Brewing from the Harvest Host site. The location is in a nice and safe part of town, not the touristy Reno area. The Brewery is great. Very friendly staff, immediately asked for my order, and offered me a drink. The food was delicious, I had the Tatanka wings, and a couple of drinks which were great. Just hit the spot after driving 7 hours. The assigned parking for my trailer was very generous and well appreciated. Area was very quiet, and well lit. I'll definitely come back when I'm in Reno. read more

The theme is ski chalet, cozy and woodsy. One of their Banana Hammocks is always a great choice! I love how many saison/sours they always have to offer, also. Cocktails and beers are all fairly priced. ~$6 for a 16 oz. They also offer flights if you want to try a few options. This was my first time trying the food and it was wonderful. Whatever the kitchen is doing, keep it up! The staff is very friendly, helpful, and keep the place clean as can be. The menu can be a bit overwhelming, but they offer something for everyone. Specificly about the food: Got the belgium walffle ($13.00). Served cold, top with powdered sugar. Then I had to ask for butter and syrup, to which the waitress said "we don't normally serve them together." ???? strange response. Butter is cold and hard. Syrup was refridgerated cold. The staff is nice and helpful, and the ambiance is family friendly. However idk why I keep trying with this place. Kinda feels like a modern upbeat Chuck E. Cheese a little bit when you first walk in. Ordered and paid for the pork belly Benedict, having been sitting for a while, the host comes to tell us that they are out, so I substitute for a cheaper dish (granted only $1) but still. Got the corned beef hash. Love the full chunks of corned beef, but the portion is tiny. Only came with one egg and it came out cold. Got no curtesy for having to order something different nor the wait. The corned beef hash wasn't exciting at all. And the potatoes were super dry. Very disappointed. Their beer is good. Enjoy that they are always rotating. But other than that I need to stop trying their over priced food. $60 for a small plate of food and 4 mimosas my wife and I shared. Wasn't a great day to experience Schussboom Brewing. Visited on a hot summer day, a Friday night, It was loud with kids running around all over, outside and inside, rooftop and below. Service was ok. It is fast food style. I have to admit that service was fast for the volume of people here. Ordered cheese curds and Fries (thank you Yelp! Free fries on the app) and also ordered the blueberry cider which was from Portland and very refreshing. Cheese curds were small battered cheese, much like mozarella, The fries were good with parmesan and garlic. Good "bar food". This venue may be more appeasable to families with kids. Might be quieter earlier in the afternoons. Parking was horrible but we finally got lucky. I'll try it again at a different day of the week, and different time. read more

Always a great place to have a beer and a few bites to eat. Just tried their Freaky Freaky Fresh Double Fresh Hop IPA and it's perfect beer right now. Perfect weather and perfect beer. Just stopped in for propane fill up (yes, they do propane) and a couple of beers. Staff behind the bar know their stuff and easy to chat with. The pizzas looked really really good although we didn't try any. The beers were unique. We had a strawberry cream ale that we couldn't stop drinking. I want to come back here again. Not really my cup of tea. Seats are uncomfortable and food is mediocre at best. They have their own parking lot. I ordered their Greek wrap which was essentially romaine salad in a wrap, nothing more. Perhaps their drinks are better? My husband ordered their bloody mary. I've always had a great experience when eating at Schussboom. To start they have a great space with lots of room for large and small groups. They also have a separate area for kids to play and keep themselves entertained. There's a lot of natural light coming in through the windows, and the windows are actually garage door style so they can roll up when the weather is nice. Their menu is diverse and also has options for vegetarians, which is awesome. Everything we've ordered there has tasted great, and I love that they offer brunch on the weekends. They also have a full bar with every drink you could possibly be craving. They have fun cocktails that all taste delicious! There isn't table service, so you do have to order at the register and then they give you a buzzer when your food is ready, and sometimes if it's busy the line to order can get a little long so just keep that in mind. read more

I'd be a regular at this place if I lived in the area. Bartenders were all super friendly, with a great sense of humor. The bartender observed it was our first time so he kindly offered us a couple tasters to see what we'd like. We ended up getting a couple pints of ciders and a couple beers, all were really good. They also offer 5 ounce pours if you're not feeling a full glass. We ordered the wings with a couple recommended sauces on the side and they were definitely some of the best wings I've had. Breaded nicely with a perfect crunch. Mixing the Thai Curry with a little ranch dressing is a must! Even seemed like the ranch was made in house. Enjoyed watching the Knights game there, and cheering them on with other Nevadans. It was quite cold when I was there but there's tons of turf out back, presumably for cornhole and other games. And they've got a large jenga inside. They also have tons of seating, large farmhouse tables if you come in with a big party. And there's plenty of parking outside. read more

I stood by my review for Schussboom , told my mother in law and our family about how great this place was .... until their Cinco De Mayo event and either one of the employees or the actual owner came up to my husband and his friends and freaked out on them about our kids running around and said an inappropriate comment about it and clearly was upset about kids being IN THEIR KID SECTION. To be clear as well, my husband and his friend were not drunk and were obviously watching the kids. ALL of us were watching our kids. From the photos: THIS IS there kid section ... so many things wrong for any kid to get hurt and looks more like a prison cell then a kid section. Second, if you are a openly kid friendly brewery but get mad at kids running around , then don't say and be a kid friendly brewery? I appreciate the employee who offered the cheers card they gave us after I told him about what happened.. But honestly, it's disappointing to see a "kid friendly brewery" with a owner and/or employee who says different to paying customers for over priced food who ARE watching their kids. read more

Came here for weekend brunch and was not disappointed! Note that the food is semi self-service (you get on line to order but they bring the food to your table and they clean up for you). My duck confit with waffle and cherry jam was delicious. Not too salty, and the jam perfectly balanced the meat. The second time I came I got the chorizo Benedict: was extremely salty so not sure if I would get it again. Rest of the dish was delicious though, from the poached eggs to the perfectly crispy home fries. They have a full bar with tables where 21+ guests can sit, and another open space with benches that's good for groups. Plus outdoor seating with shade and lawn games.
