Great roadside place. They are clean and they have a good menu. I was a bit blown away by the depth of the menu. The food was good as well. Customer service could improve a bit - it would be very helpful if they can bring the food out to the picnic tables because the wait for the food is quite long (rightfully so because there are people ahead of you that want food too). I would certainly recommend this place and will most likely revisit. read more

I don't know why this got 1 out of 5 stars for a lobster roll. This place is outstanding, if you see the reviews on trip advisor you will see most people agree. What we got Clams and fries Blacken scallops and hand made chips. Score on the food Clams and fries 5/5 - not the greatest amount of clams but def will fill you up. Scallops 5/5 - perfect texture only issue was the Cole slaw wasn't the best. Side notes Location isn't the nicest looking- think hills have eyes. It gets sunny and only some tables have umbrellas. Cook said he had an Australian shepherd so he is the best cool to never win the James beard award. read more

You just want to crunch on some fried calamari, fried haddock, fried scallops, homemade onion rings, etc... You want to tell your guests you have a great idea but you must also say, "only locals know of this place." Continue whispering: "The owner is a fisherman so you are getting very fresh fish of the day and its, yes! its all homemade!". This little gold mine was recommended to us as a place to stop and have the best fried clams ever! On that recommendation, we stopped and boy are we glad we did! They were indeed some of the best clams we ever tasted! I had the Haddock nuggets and onion rings and they were the best! My husband had the whole belly fried clams and hand cut french fries with homemade coleslaw! They give very generous portions at a very reasonable price! Where do I even begin? This place is off the beaten path but bomb and totally worth the drive. I came here specifically enroute to Bar Harbor and was definitely not disappointed. Passing by it looks like a random food truck run in an empty lot with a few picnic tables. Food 4/5 We ordered the award winning seafood chowder and a pint of fried oysters. The oysters were two-bite sized and deep fried in a lightly seasoned batter. The batter could be a little thinner but wasn't a big deal. The tartar sauce provided was so delicious and was a great addition to the oysters. The seafood chowder was definitely the star of the show and was worth the drive alone. There was a generous portion of fish, shrimp, scallops and had lobster in it. The chowder itself was creamy yet not overly thick. The potatoes weren't an ingredient filler as usual but added to the chowder. The potatoes were cooked to perfection and not grainy or mushy. Service 3/5 This is a pretty no frills place so don't expect white glove service. The staff were friendly, quick and always ready to answer any questions. Schuttys seems like a place that only locals know of which is awesome. There weren't crazy hoards of tourists and was a great no frills meal. read more

A roadside stand with food (mostly seafood) served out of a portable trailer. Ample picnic tables and a nearby marsh area bordering the New Meadows River make the surroundings pleasant. Read a previous review that rated the lobster roll poorly. The lobster roll was good. While not overstuffed, the lobster meat mixed with mayo was flavorful and the bun buttered and toasted perfectly. The roll does come with lettuce, which I don't care for, but I didn't ask them to make it without, so my bad! They're rolls come with either hand-cut fries or their own homemade onion rings in a basket for $19.95. I opted for the rings as did my date. The onion rings are stellar, which confirmed what I'd heard. They are perfectly prepped and then fried. They were the perfect blend of crunch, onion-ey goodness, and not greasy at all. I detected a bit of salt, which didn't necessitate any salting on my part. You could eat them w/out ketchup, or with. Either way, they are very good. They have other options including fish tacos, fried oysters, and crab rolls, too. Also, some veggie spring rolls. Definitely worth jumping off Coastal Route 1 if passing nearby, or if in Brunswick or Bath, heading out the Bath Road and looking for their spot near the New Meadows River. read more

What a hidden gem this place was! My family was staying at an Airbnb down the road, and we were all in the mood for seafood, but after driving all day, we didn't want to pile back into the car to go too far. Schutty's far exceeded our expectations! Everything tasted fresh, the staff was friendly, masks were up inside and out, and the chowder was voted the best we had on our trip to Maine (and we sampled a lot of chowder). Food was fine, but there was an unbelievably long wait. Before ordering we were told that the wait for food would be 35 min, we waited about 45 min. Ok, fine. But then we were given the wrong order...we waited an additional 30 min or so and still hadn't received the missing item. So we went to ask the girl about it and she said, "oh I thought you guys left." Um......I know it's Saturday night, but it doesn't even seem that crowded, but they're clearly having a hard time keeping up. Not to mention how unprofessional it was to say you'll fix something, forget about it, and then not even offer any kind of refund. I asked for something off, got $5 off a $20 meal which was at least something, but I felt like we just spent all evening waiting. read more

Please see photos!!! First time visiting here spent over 200 For crew lunch and was no where near impressed. You would think seeing large orders they would present food that's not burnt. The scallops was fried way too hard and sweet potato fries were burnt and they yet boxed it and served it to me. The seafood is pricey for being around so much water but another story. The service was good very polite and very quick but in their haste I think they neglected in the quality of the food. Everything was over cooked. This is a small road side stand with lots of food options especially seafood. Walk up counter service and picnic table for seating. It's seemed to be pretty clean and well organized. I got the beacon cheese hamburger and fries; the burger was large and well cooked I had lettuce, pickles, onion and tomatoes on it as usually. The fries were good and pretty well cooked and salted. All said it was a good meal I guess my only complete is the price over $15.00 for a burger, fries and a can of coke is a little high for a road side trailer with that said I would probably stop back again at some point read more

A party of 6 from Texas. We all had the small seafood platter. Food was good but shrimp were extremely small. In Texas shrimp are large. What they served is called popcorn shrimp and these are mostly batter because of their size. All batter on scallops was coming off because of the moisture in the meat. Fried fish was really good. Onion rings were very good and not greasy. Service was acceptable and people were very pleasant. Overall food tasted good. We were overall pleased and would return. read more

My wife & I both had the seafood chowder. It was the first chowder I have had in a long long time that was just right as they served it. Often I add black pepper, crackers, or sometimes even salt or butter to chowders prepared by vendors because there always seems to be something lacking. Schutty's was terrific just the way it was served. We will go back to try other things, and I'm sure we'll have the seafood chowder again. I wrote this review in 2013. I noticed it was gone in 2015. Really fresh lobster roll, with nicely grilled bun. Not too much mayo but if you want you can get it plain with melted butter on the side. Onion rings not too greasy. I had heard about Schutty's but was not sure where it was. I was at the beach and looked it up. You drive up and its a classic roadside but the menu is super extensive and everything coming out of the kitchen looked great. We had a lobster roll, many onion rings and fried clams. All were excellent. The onion rings were the best I I ever tasted and I have had tons and at one point it was my job to make them as fry cook at a drive in, car hop restaurant back in the days of lard. The clams were outstanding. The breading/crumbs just right. Cooked perfect. Friendly service and for seafood shack it was not that expensive. Totally reasonable price amongst the competition. This was truly a find and I cannot believe I waited so long. There are a number of picnic tables and plenty of parking. I have had fried clams and onion rings from RI to Northern Maine and these were amongst the finest. read more

The scallops were fresh and terrific w/ homemade fries!(not frozen) The egg rolls were large filled w/ lobster, greens, peas and were freshly made then fried. Served with a great sauce. For a roadside seafood shack this is the gold standard. Yelp lead us to this unassuming place on the way back from popham beach and I am so glad it did. While it retains all the Maine staples (lobster roll, fried haddock sandwich etc) the menu is varied and modern. We got the blackened haddock wrap, the blackened scallop tacos and the lightly-breaded deep-fried zucchini. They were all excellent - so worthy of a sit-down restaurant... in fact much better fare than the majority of restaurants in the area! Worth a stop! read more

This place is absolutely delicious. It's a little unassuming seafood stand in a parking lot along the border of Brunswick and West Bath. You place your order at a window at the stand and then eat at the nearby picnic tables. If you're driving by it is definitely worth stopping here. They have some of the best seafood in Maine. Some of the highlights include: thick and crispy homemade potato chips, delicious fish tacos laden with a tasty slaw and chipotle sauce, lightly battered onion rings that melt in your mouth, and haddock that flakes perfectly when touched with a fork. Also, I don't eat chowder, but my wife says they have the best clam chowder she has ever eaten. We cannot wait to come back here. read more
