At my first appointment with Hyunsoo, he truly listened to what I wanted in terms of color. This was extremely refreshing! He not only listens but he is extremely flexible with appointment times. I have never had a stylist be so flexible with accommodating me. I am extremely happy with my cut and color with Hyunsoo, I clearly am because I keep coming back to him. Five stars all around! Robie did a masterful job with my highlights and haircut!!! He gave my hair a complete makeover from the out-of-control pandemic frizz it had become. He's very talented and meticulous, which is matched by wonderful service and a fun atmosphere. You will leave feeling pampered! It's the perfect place to get hair services with extra COVID precautions. The salon has large open windows and there's great ventilation; it's essentially like the salon is outside. Masks are enforced and clients are spaced out at least 6 feet apart. They are frequently sanitizing surfaces, and it was very clean. Everyone is very friendly and competent and the pricing is very good/competitive. I researched salons in the Santa Monica/West LA area and could not find other salons offering outside services like this salon. Robie is a great talent. I'll definitely be coming back! read more

I love this salon! Everyone is so kind and the energy is very welcoming. On top of that, the music selection is always on point. Hyunsoo is my personal hair stylist and he is fabulous. He uses a sort of intuition to give you exactly what you didn't know you wanted!! He has great sense of style and works with you through the hair cut to ensure you're happy. I moved to Santa Monica over 2 years ago and often drove to the Valley to my old esthetician as I just couldn't find anyone on the west side who was great AND affordable. With Italian genes, I need to get my brows done often so price is key. Gaby not only did a phenomenal job with my brows, she discounts her already cheap $20 price to $15 if you come in again within 4 weeks. She takes her time, is a gem to talk to AND will work with your schedule. I've gone to her a couple of times but decided I had to write a review when I called last night and asked how late she'd be in on Friday, her response was "what time do you want to come in?" I followed Mike G. to Scissors from his old tenure at Rudy's Santa Monica. I ended up falling in love with his new roost, Scissors - Santa Monica. 'Jersey' Mike gives the absolute BEST classic men's haircut in Los Angeles. I usually ask for my cut tight and tapered with a side part, ala Mad Men. Sometimes if I'm feeling rambunctious I'll ask for a pompadour. Never have I left disappointed. The compliments at work just keep coming. Women desire me even more than usual. Mike is thorough, a keen attention to detail.. Like all men, I appreciate the hot lather and straight razor to clean up the undesirables on my neck, always a nice touch.. It's a plus that Mike offers helpful, tested tips specialized for my weird, unique scalp/hair growth and like all great barbers, he doubles as my shrink/priest when I'm feeling especially chatty. A great demeanor, a true dude. As for the shop itself, this location is infinitely easier to park at than my old haunt on Main St. Since I'm coming from Culver, the fact that Scissors is right around the corner from the 4th St. exit off the 10 makes it easy for me to get there in the shortest amount of time possible. Came in with hair that was almost down to my waist, asked for a trim with light layers, left with a long bob and choppy layers, when it came to blow drying- the blow dryer was so hot that it burned my scalp and the stylist pulled my hair soooo hard for "extra volume" The people are amazing personalities though, loved the experience but the cut left me in tears read more

I had my hair done and it was totally bleached out. It looked horrible because I usually have my hair dark brown - black and the blonde just washed me the heck out. I had asked for a certain look and the hair dresser could not achieve it. So I went to Shannon and she remixed my hair by putting in some low lights and worked with the blonde. She's a great conversationalist so I was far from bored. She cut my hair as well. And how my hair looks now? I am completely relieved and satisfied... It looks amazing! I will go for months working in NY and wait to come back to LA because I won't let anyone else cut or highlight my hair. He is also just the nicest man and manages to make me feel beautiful and perfect just the way I am every single time. As an actress I have to have adaptable, camera ready hair all of the time and somehow Hyunsoo manages to keep my hair looking updated and fresh while not looking overly trendy or "worked on". I had the absolute worst experience at this Salon recently. I've been going there on and off for 3 years. I only went there because Of Dennis. He's great. He's fun and does a great job and we became friends. I brought my daughter in to get some leave in conditioner and Robby accidentally charged me $150 instead of $15. He said he would do a credit back and I wasn't worried. Needless to say I was in fact charges for both. I went back to the salon and asked for the refund and Robby wasn't there. Sebastian asked for a receipt and I explained there wasn't a receipt as it was a mistake. I showed him my online statement to prove I was charged. He tried swiping my card for the credit and it would not work. He said it was because there was no chip. Funny how it worked a few days prior when overcharging me with no problem! He slammed the card in the counter and told he he couldn't help me and I would have to come back. I'm the customer and Im told to come back! He didn't apologize, he never made eye contact and he was rude as hell. I've witness his rudeness to others every single time I've been in that salon. I am convinced he just didn't want to deal with it or deal with the credit. His customer service was a pile of steaming dog shit. Good thing he knows Hair because he sucks at customer service or anything to do with people in general. So rude!!!! read more

I went in to get a blow dry today with Robbie (my first time ever in Scissors) and instead ended up getting insulted by a very rude and very irrational man. After hearing my comment about my husband's haircut (who was sitting across from me), he essentially launched an unprovoked attack, first stating that I was the kind of person "who never likes anything" then grabbing a fistful of my hair and holding it in front of my face saying that "whoever cut your hair did a terrible job." He finished his tirade with the statement "What am I supposed to do with this? It's despicable!" Based on Yelps reviews I booked an appointment with Michael and had a terrific haircut and a great time. Michael took his time and had a lot of patience, I have very long hair and wanted a trim of about 5 inches and needed a reshaping.
