5/29/19 I'm writing this as I just spent 50$ for 5 ravioli and a scoop of lobster and bolognese. The bolognese tastes like Chef Boyardee. Absolutely gross. The lobster ravioli portion was pathetic. Being fairly new to this area and coming from the North Shore where I was spoiled with a vast array of good restaurants I was pleasantly surprised to discover Scola's! Aside from the fantastic food, the service is top notch! We always sit at the bar and Sandy takes great care of us. The kitchen turns out great meals and the owners are always greeting guests with a friendly smile and ensures that all is good! Scola's is a hidden gem and the best restaurant in this neck of the woods. My husband and I have become regulars, we love it here. A must try. read more

Visited Scola's last night with a small group (5). We had a reservation but the restaurant wasn't too busy. We were seated right away and greeted by our waitress. Everything was great! Drinks, apps, and meals. 3 of us had the salmon and 2 had the chicken parm (huge portions), which was great. For apps we had the calamari and the bruschetta - both were perfect. It's been a long time since I've been here but I will definitely be back! read more

I have read reviews of how bad a meal was n thought how harsh since I had never experienced that. Wake Up Call tonight....ordered Chicken Masala w Linguine...my usual. To start off the linguine came on the side w Marinara Sauce? covering it. I had better pasta in the school cafeteria. The chicken was so overcooked n the sauce tasted like wine gone bad. IT WAS SO BAD. Horrible. Worst food all four of us have ever eaten. Brightly lit like a cafeteria. Very Dirty, The waitstaff seem annoyed we were there. The waitstaff was unprofessional and throwing dirty rags on tables and hanging out on tables while we ate. Calamari was raw. We spit it out on the first bite. The salads were so old that the lettuce had yellowed and the tomatoes were shiny and flat. The glazed salmon was burned to the plate so I could only eat the middle. The Chicken parmesan tasted like rubber and their red sauce tasted like maple syrup. Their center cut pork chop was more like a piece of port loin. We were charged 7.50 for seltzer waters. I am still sick from thinking about the food. Everything was over priced and just horrible. It was ridiculous! What a terrible waste of money. We returned the calamari and were still charged for it. Went tonight with 3 of my friends. Ordered drinks and took forever to get. Waitress stopped by to inform us the drinks would be out soon due to not having a bartender so owner was tending bar. When drinks arrived she forgot mine, when it did arrive she said it was no charge. took her a while to come back and take our orders. Once we got our dinner it was very good. I got broiled scallops with fries. They came with six scallops and probably A pound of fries. Scallops were ok. Could have eaten more. Ordered a bottle of wine and waitress had a hard time opening it. Then she just placed the bottle on the table without pouring any for us to taste. We Haven't been here in 22 yrs. Heard changed of ownership. Amanda our waitress was very nice & pleasant. Bread and sauce was great! We got the Caprse salad , it was ok . Wish the tomatoes was seasoned in olive oil and basil should of been sprinkled diced piece all over. Steaks tip was ok and could of been better, very bland. On the good side of things the Fruit parfait was delicious . Compliments to the chef on the desert. It was so good I got it 2 parfaits to go!!! Atmosphere is good , loud but nice. Place gets busy . just ordered family dinner with chicken broccoli and Alfredo sauce. when the young lady brought out the tray I didn't want to embarrass her with the statement " wow" this thing has shrunk, sign of the times, got home and found it t saturated with the sauce significantly less on chicken and pasta as well as small bits of broccoli spread throughout. it sucked!! Toni would be embarrassed if he saw this not to mention the increase in price to 43 bucks. need to drop the family dinner advertising, this couldn't feed the average family. read more

We haven't visited Scola's in many years after a couple successive disappointing dinners. But we heard it is under new management and has returned to it former glorified past. We heard wrong. The only strong point was the fresh scali bread that started the meal. Three of us started with their French Onion Soup. The broth was bland, the onions few, and the cheese looked like it was tossed on top of a couple croutons as an afterthought as it was only partially melted. One had their fish chowder and was satisfied, although the broth was a bit on the thin side. The fried calamari appetizer was tender but overly breaded in a bland batter which the marinara sauce could not help. The entrees weren't much better, although the portions were huge. I had their Gnocchi Juilana, which was a massive amount of gnocchi pasta in a marinara with shrimp, scallops, and a small sliver of lobster meat. The shrimp were not cleaned well and the sauce tasted burnt. I hardly ever not finish a meal. But here I probably ate 1/3 and wanted no more. The others called their entrees okay at best including eggplant parm and their Ravioli Rosa which like my gnocchi dish only had a sliver of lobster meat. It may as well been just cheese ravioli at an elevated price. There was an enormous amount of food and the service was good. But all in all it was a very disappointing dinner. read more

not sure what happened but this has definitely changed. my family and i regularly ordered take out here- generous portions and loved their sauces-and our most recent visit was disappointing. the ravioli rosa was completely different- thin, watery sauce and small portion. we also didn't get the salads that normally come with the meals. when we called the restaurant to share feedback, the response was "ya it's different now"... i'm so bummed because i LOVED some of their meals and it's too bad to see things change for the worse at a local restaurant. read more

Waitress was really great especially considering we were a party of 15 on a Saturday. I ordered prime rib and it was like butter in my mouth. Very juicy and tender. Fishermen's platter was on point. My husband and I went out for a much needed date night to Scola's and received the worst service in any restaurant ever. We arrived at 8:58 for dinner and noticed two tables were still eating. We were greeted by the hostess kindly and I asked if it was too late to dine? She responded of course not. ( they close at 10:00). We were seated at a table and was greeted by the server in a quick hi! . Do you know what you want to drink? Also do you know what you want to eat? I have never felt so uncomfortable and unwanted in a restaurant. I'm bringing you business. I am leaving this in hopes that the server may see this and understand that if you don't have customers you don't make a paycheck...... I am in Customer services and would be appalled if my guests were treated this way. It's too bad because the food is really good! read more

We have been going to Scola's since they first opened, never did we ever have a bad meal or ever been disappointed with the many special occasions our family celebrated in the function room. The original family that created Scolas had strong Italian roots in the North End and served authentic Italian cuisine. The last few times we have eaten there especially last night. we were not impressed with the dishes we both had. seafood gnocchi julianna was not in a marsala sauce but a sweet reddish sauce with minced onion. My husband got the veal parmigiana that also had a very thick sweet red sauce. While the wait staff is great the menu has gone down hill. read more

I had lunch at Scola's on a quiet Saturday afternoon. After seeing a Scola's ad in my local stateline paper offering a Lunch Buffet, I decided to head on over to Dracut in the mood for some Italian food. The Lunch Buffet is $9.95 plus tax and offered Tues-Sat 11AM-2PM. This would give me a chance to try several dishes in the same dining visit. I arrived here around 1:30PM and I was greeted at the counter and told I could sit anywhere I'd like. I took a seat in the right dining room (big painted mural on the wall), where the lunch buffet was set up and adjacent to the bar area (with TVs). There was background music playing at a decent volume over the speakers. For an Italian American restaurant, I would expect some Frank Sinatra or Dean Martin playing, but they were playing an entire Michael Buble album (Crazy Love). The waitress gave me a menu and also pointed out the Lunch Buffet. I was hungry and ordered the Lunch Buffet, immediately handing back the menu. A basket of homemade Italian bread with butter was brought out. The big slices of bread were soft and cold. The Lunch Buffet had 8 hot items (meatballs, chicken parm, chicken piccata, chicken marsala, eggplant rollatini, steak tips, ziti & sauce, steamed broccoli) plus French Onion Soup and Caesar Salad. The breaded chicken parm with melted mozzarella & sauce was tender & chewy. The chicken piccata (lemon, capers, white wine sauce) and chicken marsala (with mushroms & wine sauce) were nice & tender pounded flat. The thin breaded eggplant rollatini was rolled with ricotta cheese filling. The steak tips with grilled peppers & onions was very chewy. The homemade meatballs in sauce were big, but the texture was on the dry side. The ziti was cooked al dente with a hearty sweet tomato sauce. The romaine lettuce was crisp and the dressing was creamy. The French onion soup was very hot, ample slices of onions in a hearty and slightly spicy beef broth. The service was very minimal since I ordered the buffet. The plates were cleared only after I was all set. Overall, the Lunch Buffet was a very good value. The food was solid good, nothing fancy. I was very full after trying out each of the items on the buffet. I enjoyed each of the chicken dishes, eggplant rollatini and the ziti & sauce. I'd definitely return again for lunch or dinner. read more

Used a Groupon, $50 for $100. Hubby and I took our 3 adult daughters and a boyfriend. Food was barely average. They were out of many items, like gnocchi. Did not expect that at an Italian restaurant. 2 daughters got the Fruits of the Sea which is a specialty. 4 of us had tasted it. The two who ate it were quite ill all night. The other two felt slightly ill. I called the next day to alert them about this. They denied it could possibly be their fault and there was "some GI bug going around." I was not calling the board of health...I called them to alert them. I did not want anything but the satisfaction that they knew there could have been a problem. But no, they were not hearing that. Their loss. Won't go again. The Veal and Chicken Parm were fair. The waitress was very nice. read more

The waitress seated us but they seemed very short staffed. Took about 15 minutes before the waitress introduced herself. We put in our orders for drinks appetizers and entres all at the same time. our drinks didnt arrive for another 15 minutes. about 15 minutes after that we got our order of Brusetta. the waitress asked if there was anything else she could get us while we wait for our entres. I said sompe plates and silverware would be nice.didnt have anything to eat our food with. This is after we have been sitting for a half hour already. I ordered the chicken marsala and it had to be the worst chicken marsala I ever had. Tasted liked they cooked the chicken then let it simmer in AhSo sauce for 10 minutes. I usually roll with it pretty good, but it was sicky sweet. Couldn't eat it. The wife's meal was ok but nothing great. I have been to this restaurant over a dozen times, and this was the worst. Searching for a place for dinner before a spa appointment with Cailtin C., Scola was right next door. I had the special of the day eggplant rolitini. The portion was HUGE. I mean, like 3 grown adult dinner portion huge. 3 rolitini about 4inches thick ontop of a half pound of ravs. Served with 4 slices of garlic bread. $12.99 This dish was gross. I ate two bites of the eggplant and could not eat another bite. WAY too much filling and bitter, overcooked eggplant. Fishing for the ravs underneath, those too were horrible. Tasted like frozen ravs with some jared sauce. WAY too thick pasta, filled with a pea sized amount of bland cheese topped with boring marinara. Not that theres many other options in Dracut, but I wish we ate somewhere else. The decor is outdated and the food was horrible. Even for the price, I wouldnt go back. 2 stars for huge portions and low prices. Thats all they have going for them. read more

Last time I went to Scolas was about 6 years ago and it was great! This time.... yikes. I went with my mother at 5:30. We were seated promptly, and there were about 4 other tables seated. It took about 15 minutes to order our drinks and another 15 to get them. By this time 4 other groups had come in. My mother and I both ordered the Chicken Francese (lightly battered chicken breast with pasta in a lemon white wine sauce). By the time we finally got our food, all 4 groups that came in after us had already eaten their dinners! By this time we're getting pretty hungry. When the food finally comes.. It's awful. The pasta was plain and there was a puddle of what tasted like lemon water on the bottom of the plate... The "lightly battered chicken" was soggy all over. The whole dish was bland and pretty disappointing. I won't be going back. read more

Steak tips were good. Veal parm was horrible (over breaded veal, big glob of cheese with no flavor and too much sauce.) Well, hello really cheap Italian lunch! We went here for a family lunch yesterday, and both Jesse and I were surprised by it for these reasons: 1.) It's way cheap. For four lunches, with various drinks, it was around $50. Dishes in the North End at at least double for the cheapest thing on the menu. 2.) Hearty Portions. Everyone was full or had leftovers at the end. 3.) Good dishes! I got a gorgonzola haddock dish, which was really great. I was feeling like living a little dangerously, and I was glad I did. 4.) Service was good. It was also interesting watching the little old ladies order their fish plates. We'll be back, I'm sure. We were all happy campers. read more

We had a relaxing italian meal here on a Friday evening. I had been wanting to come here for quite some time, as it was on my Yelp bookmarks and I have been desperately trying to clean my bookmarks up. Located in Dracut in a strip mall, Scola's appears to be a family run business. We started with a gibson Grey Goose martini which was crisp, cold, and just perfect. The menu here is HUGE. One menu is the specials, the other is the house favorites/ popular and the next is the full menu. Appetizers we enjoyed included a custini which was a large Italian bread topped with garlic EVOO, hot capacola, and melted mozzarella cheese. It tasted a bit like pizza. We also tried the eggplant rollitini which was 3 breaded eggplant slices, rolled up in ricotta and then baked with a touch of sweet marinara. Dinners some with either soup or salad. We both tried the cabbage and sausage soup which was actually every good. A good hearty cabbage broth and chucks of fennel sausage. I had the chicken francese on top; of angel hair. HUGE 3 large very tender breasts with very lemony sauce on a little pile of angel hair. Dennis had the Marco Pollo which has chunks of chicken in pasta with spinach in a hearty marinara. Large portions here. Be prepared to take some home. So why not a five stars? A few small things like missing tableware, broken paper towel dispenser in the men's bathroom, and no toothpicks at the door when leaving. read more

Came here for lunch with a friend. Food At the request of some friends who swore on it's deliciousness, I ordered the Eggplant Parmesan. I must say, I was pleased to try this new dish. The serving was HUGE. The waiter on hand explained what it was and how much came in a portion, but I brushed it off because I'm used to eating a lot. Best mistake ever. I took the leftovers home and warmed it up for dinner, and it still tasted great. The alternating layers of eggplant in a lasagna style made each bite equally delicious. Atmosphere Okay, so I'm not sure what kind of dining establishment this was supposed to be - whether fine dining, or casual. On one hand, they had table cloths, silverware, appropriately dressed wait staff, etc - and on the other hand people were coming in dressed plain as day and sat really close to other tables. If you're looking for privacy, this is probably not the place to do a date. Staff Staff was pretty informative. They had a very casual attitude, and didn't really stand out in my opinion. Waters were filled, and there was plenty of bread at all times. Final Thoughts I would definitely like to try out other dishes here - but before I do, I'd like to acquaint myself with the cuisine at other places. Great for casual lunch. read more

I've had dinner hear a couple of times now and I ABSOLUTELY love this place. Great place for dinner with the family. Large delicious portions served by friendly waitstaff. The bife de casa is second only to my mom's version which is bomb! Love you mom :) I've also tried a couple of the Italian dishes which were great and large portions that left plenty to take home. This is a great spot to get some comfort food that will leave you satisfied. Oh and the owners are absolutely amazing. This is a neighborhood spot that you will want to frequent. read more

My wife and I are big fans of the food here and we have done our best to support this business over these difficult months. These owners have worked hard to keep their business operating without compromising the quality of the meals they serve, well done. They also used the time well to update the interior. We recently ordered family meals for take out to supplement other food we had for a small family gathering to celebrate birthdays and graduations after many months apart. The prices went up a bit (but so has everything else in general), but the amount of food they gave us was more than enough, and very tasty, the value is still excellent. Chicken, Broccoli & Ziti and Ziti & Meatballs, can't go wrong. A couple of weeks before we indulged in a Fish & Chips family meal, again more than enough to eat for everyone, the fish was fresh and you can tell the oil was clean when they fried it. They have great sandwiches, always served fresh, hot or cold, with a nice bed of crispy fries. We returned for a birthday dinner for two. My wife had the Chicken Bellissimo. She said it was very good, but she would prefer the veal that we ordered in the past. I ordered the Seafood Trio (broiled). I was very disappointed with my meal. They made a mistake and made it baked with breadcrumbs, but they caught the mistake before bringing the meal to our table. The waitress let me know and they made a broiled version as I had requested. It didn't take long and both meals were served at the same time. Meal included a good sized portion of haddock, four scallops, two very small shrimp and roasted potatoes. The shrimp looked like the small frozen shrimp that you buy at the supermarket. The haddock and scallops were pure white/bland. They looked like they were boiled, not broiled. It had to be the most unappealing meal I've had. A little parsley or something would have helped. I tasted them to be sure they were fully cooked, and they were. But there was no real flavor at all. The dish is supposed to be cooked in lemon and white wine, but there was no flavor at all. The potatoes were the most appealing and flavorful part of the meal. I had also ordered a glass of chardonnay. It didn't really taste like chardonnay, but I chalked it up to a different brand. Sure enough, the bill indicated that it was not chardonnay. I like most white wines so this didn't really bother me and it did not affect my review. So our follow-up visit was not as good as we had hoped it would be. read more

This place is one of the best family restaurants in Dracut. If there was one negative thing I could say about the place is that they give you enough food for three meals and it isn't served family style. I love this place, One of my favorite dishes here at Scola's is the Chicken Verona, sauce is so tasty and they always give you the biggest portions for your money. I seem to always get chicken dishes and not one time has the chicken been dry, it is always so moist and tasty. Also with that dish they give you a choice of a side dish, soup or salad. I usually get the french onion soup which is also very good. Overall I never had a bad experience here and food was always great. -Takeout was always deli-sh, warm, and they give you soooo much scali bread and butter for you to eat with your meal, always had the order correct and to a T -Dining experience always timely and very nice people. Comfortable inside and sometimes they have live music too, which is great to sit back after you eat and have a few while listening to some live music. read more

My husband has been searching for the "seafood pasta" he had as a kid. We figured out it was Frutti Di Mare. Well of all the Italian restaurants around- This is the only one with a recipe and variety of seafood he had. So I took him for lunch one day and with one bite he was brought back. Menu changed and prices are crazy expensive. My meal went from $10 to $17 !!! Last Year we went with some friends and it was cheap considering all that you got.
