Hello!!! It's been a while Yummy

If your looking for the best Jamaican patties search no more. Whenever I'm in town, this is one of my first stops

Jamaican beef patty, the very best in the city!!!

You say "Scott's Jamaican Bakery" and immediately your mind congers up wonderful thoughts of some of the best Jamaican food in the city. Some may disagree but their longevity is a testimony to the fact that they have an extremely devoted and faithful clientele that has sustained this business for well over 35 years. They serve a large selection of Jamaican comfort food; Curried Goat, curried chicken, Stew Peas, Brown stew Chicken, Beef Stew, Oxtail and Beans, fried fish and for dessert, Cinnamon Bun, Sugar Bun, Bulla Cake, Totoe and Cut Cake. I was there for what I think is the best Jamaican Beef Patty anywhere to be found. The pureed beef and onion filling is pure magic with a mere kiss of thyme and the subtle spiciness from the the Scotch Bonnet pepper. Ok, who knows whether they use the traditional SB pepper in the recipe and quite frankly, who the heck cares so long as it delivers the heat. The dough for the beef patty is just pure, plain matchless perfection; combine the filling with the dough and you have Jamaica's answer to the Empanada which more than holds its own in that head to head match up.

Yay! Why didn't anyone tell me that Scott's had a Main Street location? Saves me the trouble of having to go onto Albany Avenue (which I try to avoid at all costs) for my beef patty and coco bread. Scott's has the best beef patty and coco bread in the city. I noticed this new location now serves food as well their normal bakery items. I'll definitely have to go back and try it out. I took a star away for their as expected customer service. Lady was deep in a conversation with the other lady behind the counter while she was taking my order. But if you frequent local Jamaican restaurants like I do, you come to expect it.

Beef patties are sooooo delicious! We also had the oxtail and the jerk chicken which we thought was only ok.

While the pastries are classic and exactly what you'd expect from a high-caliber Italian bakery, the real gem is the Italian ice located in the cafe. Good lord, the flavors and quality are on a different level--this isn't that Rita's or DQ garbage. The chocolate and strawberry combination is specifically incredible, honestly better than Godiva chocolate-covered strawberries. It provides that deep, rich profile and authentic taste that defines their Itallian vibe. One professional tip for anyone stopping by: bring cash. The cafe doesn't accept cards, and you don't want to be the one standing there empty-handed when you're that close to the best Italian ice on the planet

I think we were being greedy and ordered the pizza bread, stuffed croissant and carrot cake. The pizza bread, the cake and stuffed croissant was bomb! When I first got here, the barista was not ready to take orders yet, so I sat down while they prepped for the day. After about 15 minutes they were ready, so I ordered a basic latte and sat back down. The coffee bar has no food and only coffee and matcha drinks, relying on other businesses to fill that gap when they don't offer food at the primary location. The hours on Saturday don't match up with the other local businesses, so it leads to the ability to get coffee but not food till at least an hours time from open. The latte was basic, coffee is of a decent quality and the milk was frothy. No real design work beyond a basic onion off-center. They had one special latte, a pb&j inspired iced latte. Opted against, since they were still prepping for those orders when I went to order. It's functional coffee for the area. Not bad but not special either. It's a place to get a cup of joe on Pratt street, and it's good coffee but nothing to call home about.

You most certainly need not take it though and take a step the other way into Refugee Tattoos side. I got myself a double espresso with a pump of vanilla. I think I could've done without since it wasn't sweet. I want to visit again and have it one more time! The barista was lovely and she didn't rush me at all as I made my choice. She also made great recommendations. It was nice and quiet in the studio though that's not to say they didn't have any other clients beyond the curtain. Everyone was friendly.
