With the kids menu she couldn't remember what we ordered for my youngest to drink. My turkey club was burnt. The did the hiding the burnt part of the bread the other side of the sandwich. A member of our group really wanted to experience truck stop food from a real truck stop diner. So as we went north on I-87 we arrived at Scotty's at exit 16. The waitress was prompt and showed she knew the menu quite well. Kudos to her for being professional. The food arrived cold and mostly inedible. The hamburger bun was not brioche but was hard as a concrete barrier and had to be removed. The fries were room temperature and tasted like they had been cooked in the same grease as the chicken. All parties in our group received cold food, and there was a tell tale look from everyone in the group that this was a bad choice and we should all learn from it. read more

I've lived in the area a long time and have driven by this place many times...but I'm usually trying to dart back from a hockey game in Glens Falls or from Montreal/Adirondacks/Vermont etc. Scotty's is a time warp inside...very quiet. My issue has nothing to do w the food.. but small two pieces of French toast (fake syrup) and a small slice of grilled ham steak; along w unlimited coffee came to (w tip) 21.50 (?!?!?!?!). This place is a total price/product mismatch... I'm not sure what is with dining in the Albany region...often prices are out of sight (higher than where I grew up even..which is a different economic stratosphere) and honestly 95% of dining in this region is really mediocre. Well, it was a last minute choice based on a local recommendation. Yes, I saw the middling Yelp review but decided to power through. In fact, I think the three star average is a bit generous. To be clear, we ordered it for Take Out, and did not sit to eat. In fact, it took rather longer than we thought it might....but that's what can happen I guess. The Buffalo Mac n Cheese was very seriously just OK. As in, five bites in and we'd had enough. Not sure if it was just overpacked with industrial strength American cheese or what, but it was quickly abandoned. The Western Omelet sandwich was also meh. Not much flavor and really, not all that enticing. So, what can you do? I like supporting local businesses, and the Saratoga area sure has a lot to choose from. Given any other situation, we would more surely had gone to a well-regarded place by campus. But, it is what it is. I would not return here. The guy who took my order was nice enough. Lived in the area for seven years and passed it many times but never went until today; heading home from Glens Falls with long lines at Panera Bread and the diner at Exit 19, I decided to try Scotty's. First and last time today. Food was edible but no more than that. The wife and I each had a cup of soup and then hot open turkey and meatloaf sandwiches, and a soft drink. Stay away from this place. Yes looks neat, old dinner feels but that's about all. They will find any way to over charge you. When you order one pancake a different way they will charge you $4.75 for that one instead of adding a sur charge for one. Maybe they charged so much because the chocolate was all over every pancake at the table. Also love getting three pieces of bacon for $5.99. My wife and I drive truck, we stopped in at Scottys Truck Stop for the night then went in for take out we met Rakel at the cash Registerand she proceeded to take our order, my wife ordered first she orxered a ruben and onion rings and I then ordered a ruben with out crout and chili cheese fries, we waited 10 min and Rakel brang out our food. So we went back to our trk and went to eat our dinner but discovered my wifes order was not there, so she went back in and asked about her order the cashier then handed her the reciept we paid 17.41 for 1 ruben and chili cheese fries, Rakel even told my wife there would be an up charge for her onion rings.. this place is not only a shit hole but a rip off... . I hate to write this about a local diner because it always had decent enough food. unfortunately I have been there for lunch the past 2 days and the food is just horrendous. Yesterday I ordered a Turkey Reuben, came out with a slice of Turkey and more sauerkraut than anyone would want. i also ordered chili and it was like a ball of gel. if you turned the cup upside down nothing would fall out of the cup. today I ordered a cheeseburger. the cheeseburger was so dry and awful I could only choke down a quarter of it. I also ordered a piece of pie for $7.00 to go. when I got home the piece I received, didn't look like a piece but maybe a tablespoon of complete slob in the container. I did bring that back and the lady at the counter was nice enough to replace it with a normal size slice of pie. she said the portions of pie were very small. we are not talking high quality, just a normal pie. on a positive note, the Restaurant is decorated nicely for the holidays and the French fries are very good. read more

Got a bbq bacon cheeseburger and it was really good..it was thick, tasty, and delicious...you could tell it was homemade...also I chose the sweet potato fries with raspberry dipping sauce...the sauce didn't a strong flavor.. it was ok, more of a "hint of raspberry"....would go back again. read more

Then a slice of chocolate cream pie for dessert. The bill was $22+ The price gouging is insane now and everything is a la cart. I get that prices increase but ... really .... This is pathetic. First let me start off by saying this was an excellent experience overall. The reason why it lost the star is because the parking lot is still a lackluster experience. It's a very small parking lot in front of the building and if you don't get there in time to park there you have to park across a busy street and play Frogger to get to your breakfast, and unfortunately you're the Frog trying to get across the street good luck! The service was absolutely amazing I took a picture of the check because it has the name of our waitress on that check and she was absolutely phenomenal. She was very attentive, very friendly, very outgoing, and she was always looking to see if there was something else that was needed while she was working the other tables. She did an excellent job at making sure that our experience was an experience that was an enjoyable one. And for that reason I would like to thank her. The food was very good I enjoyed my food which was a western egg omelet sandwich on sourdough bread and that was absolutely amazing I enjoy the simple things but I also enjoy delicious things and it was both. My other family members had the traditional biscuits and gravy with sausage and that came out excellent and then there was two eggs over easy sausage with toast that came out excellent and then also the one egg over easy with hash browns and toast. All the food came out on time and it was quite delicious. I will say that that was an absolutely enjoyable experience. For those of you who like or look for social distancing during this time of covid-19, they are definitely following the statutes would that every other table is blocked off so you're not sitting next to anyone and they are wiping and sanitizing every table as soon as you get up to leave so you sit down to a nice clean table every single time. Waitresses are all wearing masks and they are sanitizing their hands and sanitizer is offered to all customers who are coming into the building and who are leaving the building. This is definitely a place where you can find a good meal and also pick up a few items because there is a store attached to this building because it is a truck-stop as well. Stopped on our way home from a road trip. I had the French toast and a side of hash browns. Both were cold. Not even warm. I ate it anyway. The French toast was good. Hash browns were half cooked, kind of like Denny's, some crispy some raw-ish. Blah. He had steak and eggs. He said it was good and not cold. All in all I was not impressed. The service was good. The coffee was good. 3 stars for service and coffee. 37$ and change with tip. Not worth it. read more

I live fairly close to Scotty's. When I first moved to the area, there was no way that I'd go there; figured it was a dirty truck stop. Well, it's not. Yes - it's a truck stop. No - it's not dirty. In fact, it's incredibly clean and well-kept. The staff is great, too. Super friendly and genuinely nice people. The food is average - stick to grilled cheese, burgers, regular sandwiches...etc. I like the sweet potato fries - they serve it with a creamy raspberry sauce. I did see that they have a full turkey dinner - which is actually pretty good, too! (based on a friend's feedback). It's also great to have Scotty's around for the 24/7 availability. I went to a show at SPAC over the summer and we hit Scotty's for a late night bite to eat. They have some pretty nice desserts - I heard the chocolate cream pie is to die for. Couldn't have been more dissatisfied with my recent visit here. First booth cushion I sat in had me leaning so bad I changed seats. Blueberry Pancakes had no flavor. Paid $6 for two sausage links. This is a truck stop restaurant right off the highway. This is my first time here and I chose the special Shepards pie. It was a generous portion of ground beef , corn and homemade mashed potatoes topped with cheese and brown gravy. Food had a home style comfort vibe. It was served with 2 warn soft diner rolls. My husband had the special fish fry served with french fries and Cole slaw. He said it was all very good, the fries were very crisp right till he finished, and he really liked the Cole slaw. We didn't have room for dessert but the pies and cakes looked delicious. Our only complaint was the price of the fountain sodas. 16 ounce glasses filled with ice that didn't leave much room for the soda and the price was more than anywhere else for the same size sodas. Having grown up in Wilton, I'm well acquainted with Scotty's. I love having a 24/7 diner nearby and knowing that if I have a craving for pancakes or a burger in the middle of the night, I can indulge myself. It's not what you'd call fancy but as long as I've been going there the establishment has always been clean, well run and the wait staff friendly. They offer a nice range of lunch / dinner platters and their breakfast options (served from midnight to noon) are all quite tasty. I especially like their belgian waffles which you can get topped with strawberries / blueberries and whipped cream. They also have an excellent selection of homemade pies for dessert! Prices are very reasonable and the service is usually pretty fast. If you're on the Northway and you want some quick, cheap eats, skip the craziness of exit 15 and go to Scotty's at exit 16 instead! read more

I stopped going there after they hosted a large political rally in their parking lot with people, unmasked, jam packed shoulder to shoulder in middle of the pandemic. GROSS! I feel bad for all the truckers who are forced to eat here with no other options. Sandwiches are tasteless garbage. The deli meat on the club sandwich was discolored plywood. Tomatoes on it had a moldy core on one of the slices Mmmmm I got your mouth watering now don't I. Sweet potato fries was served with some mystery pink sauce that stuck like a rotten dumpster in the summer sun. I did not even bother to try it in fear for the well being of my intestines. I always hope for the best when I visit, sometimes it is. but why change the formula...Just a couple ways to improve this place is to reconfigure the restaurant parking, which is haphazard and unsafe...also after several suggestions they still allow Smoking right by the front door, you have to walk through a wall of smoke just to get in...also it always amazed me how Close the gas pumps are to the smokin section....those Canadian truckers smoke a LOT ...cuz smoking is everywhere in Quebec...Also the owners steadfast refusal to do any upgrading at all,,,yes its the 40th anniversary all right...place is 1980's oak..shopping mall food court tile durable ...it is clean however...the food is always ok...Can't mess with 40 yr..they must be doing something right...Congrats!!
