What a wonderful place! Everything from being greeted and having the door opened by a well dressed, well groomed, polite young bus boy to speaking with the super friendly owner, Armando, was such a pleasant experience! And the food for all 4 of us was delicious! I wanted pico de gallo with my breakfast burrito and the waitress originally said they didn't have any but the owner also owns burger express a couple store fronts over (will be trying that soon!) and I'm pretty sure he made his way over there to grab me fresh pico! Price was great, food cooked perfectly - my husband had he salmon Benedict which can always be hit or miss at places and loved it! My breakfast burrito was awesome and served piping hot! The other 2 guests had perfectly cooked eggs, Bacon, pancakes, French toast, etc. The place is small but on a rainy Sunday we walked right into a 4 top which was amazing! Upon entering, you're greeted by such a warm and genuinely pleasant staff. Your order is taken promptly, with any questions about the menu, warmly embraced! I must say, their food is exceptional. This is the sister restaurant to Burger Express, only a few doors down in the same little strip mall & with the same great quality food & excellent customer service. When we asked what the difference was between the two, they said that Ferretiz focuses more on breakfast-y stuff... Bigger selection of omelets & other typical breakfast fare, whereas Burger Express tends to draw a bigger lunch crowd... Awesome Mexican food, burgers, etc. There are still many of those things at Ferretiz that you would find at Burger Express though. Also like Burger Express, Ferretiz is tiny... I think maybe only 5 or 6 small tables. It's also really quiet since they don't have a TV or any sort of music playing. But it's still a very comfortable, intimate atmosphere & as always, Armando is so accommodating! Seriously, I think he wrote the book on exceptional customer service. He is super friendly, attentive & willing to tweak any dish to your liking & accommodate special requests. For example, he makes this really spicy (but really tasty), smoky salsa that seems to be an off-the-menu, request only thing. One day we asked him if they had any hot sauce/salsa besides Tapatio, Tabasco or pico de gallo... So he went & whipped up this salsa roja for us & we loved it! Now whenever we come in for breakfast, he always asks us if we want that salsa. (It's also great to be immediately recognized upon walking into an eating establishment!) Ok, so on to the food! What can I really say other than the fact that's it's all really good quality, fresh food served with love? We have tried the Eggs Benedict, Tex Mex omelet, pancakes, breakfast sandwich (served on garlic toast, by the way. Yum!), veggie omelet & many other things I can't even remember. One morning, I just wasn't in the mood for eggs or any other typical breakfast item, so I asked for a tuna melt with avocado even though it was only 8:00 am. No problem! And it totally hit the spot. So, I highly suggest giving this place a try. Tasty food; Friendly, quick service; Plus it's family-owned & I think places like this deserve support from the community. Oh my goodness. My mother and I just tried this place out and it is just unreasonably good. I got the breakfast burrito and she got the Spanish omelette. I'm speechless. Absolutely speechless. That was by far the best breakfast burrito I have ever had and probably will ever have. And my mothers Spanish omelette was outrageously good as well as drowning in cheese and a sauce I can only describe as unbelievably good. We didn't even know what we were getting ourselves into. We weren't prepared for such flavor and freshness. The owner(?) came out and thanked us for stopping by. He then informed us that that sauce, the one on the Spanish omelette that I wanted to bathe in for all of eternity, was made completely from scratch. Nothing in that restaurant came out of a can and you can taste it. Their lunch menu looked pretty impressive as well. Great service. Just can't write enough good things. This is my favorite breakfast joint in Simi Valley. It's one of the only places I can get the classic two eggs, two pieces of bacon or sausage, hash browns AND pancakes, waffles, or french toast for only $8.99! My kids love the kid breakfast options and my husband gets the Chicken Enchilada Omelet. He says it's the best omelet he's ever had. The service here is friendly, fast, and attentive. My husband and I went there today for Breakfast, luckily there was one table available in this very busy, packed place. Of course being as busy as it was, there was a little bit of a wait for service and our food took quite a while. The gentleman in charge was extremely friendly, when our two year old started getting a little whiny out of hunger he brought out some fruit and got his food out as fast as he could. The Chili cheese omelet and the Meat lovers omelet were amazing! Portions were generous and came not only with hash browns, but toast AND fresh fruit included for less than 9 dollars each meal. We even ordered dessert, (they offer a few things, but the fried ice cream really stood out). The same gentlemen brought out this amazingly put together dessert and even better...gave it to us on the house for the wait. I really love how all about the customer this place was. Fantastic. I was paying a traffic ticket and stopped by on my way home to avoid traffic. At first I was skeptical since it seemed to be a hole in the wall but then I remembered that these types of places are the best. I got the breakfast burrito and it was wonderful. You know how sometimes you get those crappy, dry eggs like the ones they serve at Denny's? This place had perfectly cooked juicy eggs with flavor. The potatoes were perfectly soft and the bacon was crisp without an abundance of fat. The tortilla was soft and warm just how you want it with a breakfast burrito. I am glad I came here and would come back even though I live in studio city since I haven't found a place with a breakfast burrito this good since Manny's went out of business in Sherman Oaks. I would say this place is even better. They even had fresh fruit that came with the breakfast burrito. Come here for breakfast. read more

Great, delicious portions of food in a cozy restaurant. Clean and very accommodating. I didn't get an order of bacon right away because I was told that it had been cooked a bit too crispy and needed to be re-done. Great cooks in that kitchen! Breakfast potatoes were really good too. Manager gets 10 stars for amazing service too. He put a portable heater near a group of older ladies to keep them comfy. I had the biscuits and gravy which were pretty good, but the Manager insisted I have some of the fresh batch made by the cook who had just arrived...and it was delicious! (Apparently, another cook made the first batch and it wasn't as great as the next batch.) He even caught me before I left the parking lot with a bag in hand, providing me with more delicious gravy to take home. Definitely returning to this great place and kudos to the manager & staff! read more

2nd review. I sat down with my assistant Brion and had a nice conversation with Armando who noticed I did not eat all of the fat (basically a tablespoon) on the bowl of Chile Verde..Now the experience.. THIS iS THE BEST CHILE VERDE I'VE EVER HAD. Don't worry about watered down American style Chile verde. This is the authentic, spicy, little dabs of fat on some of the pieces, all tomatillo stuff of legend. Armando discussed the making by hand of all of their sauces, etc. This place does not disappoint. Its getting so busy here I hope he expands all the way to Burger Express, the other restaurant a few doors down (they own). Armando's taquitos? SOOO good. Comes with a vinaigrette salad. be bold and ask for the hot sauce that they keep behind the counter. Watch yourself though.. Brion loves the chorizo and had a patty melt that kicks ass over any deli you have ever been to. This is definitely not a paid advertisement. This place is truly great and I see big things for them in the future (mostly my prominent butt in a seat). People, it looks like a hole in the wall. Great coffee, wonderful service, the guys in the back always smiling and making something good. I think next time I'll just tell Armando to have them make me something I've never tried before? I'd like to comment on the food, but I never got that far. I called for a to go order on Sunday morning at 10:30. Yes, that's a busy time, but I don't think that's a good excuse for poor service. The first call I got was a busy signal. That's fine. I called again ten minutes later and got the same. Still fine, they are busy. Third call I got through and immediately got asked to hold by Armando who put the phone down and didn't come back. I heard many other waitresses walk by discussing drink orders and such, but no one happen to see the phone off the hook. For ten minutes. I hung up, called back twice more over the next 10 min to a busy signal and gave up. It sounds like they have good food and nice servers, but really, improving their phone service would help not alienate a portion of their customer base. I'll gladly revise this review if I ever get a chance to order and actually try their food, but I'm disinclined to call ever again. read more

I was surprised by this little hidden treasure! It doesn't appear to be much, just a handful of tables and a counter. I was concerned with 2 toddlers about the lack of booths. But the food and most especially the service outweighed any concerns, and I'll definitely be back. The wait staff was friendly and accommodating and didn't hesitate to throw in the special requested chocolate chips on the Mickey Mouse shaped pancakes for my kids. The chorizo was awesome, and for the first time in as long as I can remember, the home fried potatoes didn't need seasoning by me! They were diligent with the coffee refills, and the meal was tasty.
