I love Scratch! The food is always amazing and the mocktails are to die for. The service is spectacular and the outdoor seating is pretty.

Food No beuno so far. My medium rare burger was no trace of pink or red whatsoever and very dry, and the bacon I asked for was minced bacon like in a blender, weird. my daughters, macaroni and cheese was very good and fries are very good. BBQ egg rolls had the inside consistency of baby food with no flavor. Blech. Service Meh, the crappy bbq egg rolls made it to our table before the water. Slow and confused, would be my assessment. Maybe a pinch of I just smoked a blunt an hour ago. Our server was friendly, though, took care of the egg rolls, so that's a huge plus, although it took 15 minutes to get it to go box. Ambiance Loud and annoying. If you want to eat outside, and have a conversation, come back late 2024 when the backhoe is not tableside. 3 Mehs overall. I'll maybe try again next year. read more

Fun, easy night out vibes here. More casual than anything, and it's walk-in only. Luckily if you get there early enough, even on a weekend, the bar seating is usually up for grabs, and the servers are quite attentive. Had some wine, received good recommendations on different options and went with the crab dip and cauliflower bites to start. I will say the dip was missing something (maybe more of the cream cheese flavor!) so I would skip and definitely recommend the cauliflower bites - great amount of spicy buffalo wing flavor and excellent bleu cheese dipping sauce. Also had the bibimbap which is served in a slightly concerning bowl - maybe rethink - also saw some other dishes to guests served in these bowls that are a little tricky if you plan on using cutlery of any sort... but otherwise was an awesome portion and tasted great. This is a review of the newly opened ruckus on Leesville and Strickland I wouldn't go back. My smashburger was definitely overcooked, there's salad menu is very sparse, the salad I was interested in was $16. If I wanted to add chicken that was an additional $6.. $22 for A salad with most likely half a chicken breast? Nope. Not in Raleigh, that's definitely New York pricing Apparently the owner was questioned about the high prices? And he claimed well. First time here and definitely will come more!! We came at a great time, right before the crowds started on a Friday night (around 5:30)! They got busy quick!! We were seated right away (outside option available, but it was hot outside so we dined inside). There menu is full of great choices and tge portions are plentiful! We ended up getting the BBQ eggrolls and they were the perfect starter. We both ended up getting Mac and Cheese...I ordered the Blues Mac and Cheese and my husband got the Smokehouse Mac and Cheese! I gave my review 5 's simply because I had an awesome waitress. If you ever stop in ask for Tamia! We were here celebrating my cousin 29th birthday so we had a party of 18 people and had a wait of about 1 hour which wasn't bad. The hostess worked really hard to get us all seated in the same area so we ended up in 3 booths and 1 table. As stated before we had a waitress named Tamia and I was worried at first because in addition to our tables she also had 3 others. She really is a pro at this waitressing thing because she had a system as to how she serviced us and it was really appreciated. We got our drinks and appetizers really quickly and the portions are so big that I actually didn't order an entree. For the appetizer I had the Scratch fries and as stated the portion size is enough for the whole table. Other appetizers at my table were the Firecracker Shrimp and BBQ Eggrolls. All the appetizers were really flavorful. My daughter got a kids meal with tenders, fries and cucumbers. Entrees for my table included a burger(plain), crispy chicken sandwich, scratch Philly with chicken and steak and the bbq burger. This is a super fun local place with a great vibe! Service was great, folks were knowledgeable of the menu and made great recommendations for our first visit. The brussel sprouts had a lot of extra goodness on them typical of good southern cooking as did the fries. So don't come here if you are Loki g for health food. They did have some salads and poke bowls but that wasn't what we were looking for. The spicy Chicken sandwich is amazing, great crunch, juicy and packet with flavor. The shrimp tacos had the perfect amount of flavor and fillings that all complemented each other. You could taste how fresh and homemade everything was. I'd recommend this place to everyone as they have a huge variety in the menu. We'll definitely be back on our next trip to Raleigh! read more

A wonderful start to a day catching up with friends. Our waitress was very personable. She was attentive without making us feel rushed. We were able to sit outside which was wonderful, but be aware that there is likely to be little to no shade on the patio on sunny days. Food was great. We arrived around 11:30 and The restaurant wasn't very busy. There is an outdoor patio you can enjoy. We decided to stay inside. Server was great and we received our order quickly. Everything tastes good. Only complain is the to-go box was plastic. The other Scratch Kitchen restaurant in Apex we used to get food from was using compostable which was more environmental friendly. (at least at the time there were offering to-go service) If you order the Firecracker Shrimp as appetizer, you can request that they put the sauce on the side. This place was an ok lunch spot. We tried a few appetizers that were recommended - the crispy rice sushi and shrimp. Both were solid but nothing over the top. For our entrees, we tried the pad Thai and bibimbap bowl. The pad Thai was very "soupy" which was a bit odd to us. The bibimbap sadly lacked flavor as the greens were overwhelming. Overall, not a bad spot for a bite. The Mac n Cheese entrees did look amazing though. Might be worth the true. read more

We came in for lunch today and there was a decent crowd. Since we have had amazing weather here we decided to eat on the patio. Our waitress was super friendly and made sure everything was taken care of! We ordered a kids Mac & Cheese which came out promptly and hot but not scalding. I ordered the Shrimp Po Boy and it was a 10/10! Definitely would come back just for that. My husband ordered a burger medium and it came out well done. But he said it was delicious anyways! Extremely disappointed. Sat at the bar while waiting for a table and drinks were made but never handed to us. 10 minutes later our table is ready and we never got our drinks - so then had to wait for our drinks and close out at the bar because they did not allow us to transfer the tab to the table. Another 10 minutes after they close the tab we get to the table. We are outside and there are 4 servers we see helping all the surrounding tables. Not a single one comes to greet us so we sit for 30 minutes then decide it's absolutely not worth it to stay here a minute longer. Keep in mind there are about 6 open tables and these waiters are no busy. As we leave one of the servers has the audacity to say thanks for coming have a great night. What in the actual heck is the service here. I don't care if the food is good - if they can't treat their customers well then they are not worth it. Saturday night, be appropriately staffed, or train your staff on their job. read more

My family and my bf went to Scratch for my dad's Father's Day dinner. The place was quaint and I enjoyed the atmosphere and our server was very attentive and super nice. My boyfriend and I came late, and she swooped on over right away and introduced herself and took us through the menu. The food came out fairly quickly in my opinion and everything looked delicious. My boyfriend had the bibimbap and he said it was good, just wished that the portion size was a bit more (but he has a bit appetite). Also, there was a bit of a kick to it too, so beware for those touchy with spices. Salmon was cooked well and the rice complemented it very well. As for the Mac and cheese, it was very dense so come hungry if you want this dish! Overall, was a wonderful dinner and will be coming back here again soon! read more

When you sit down they have wet towels they provide guests which is nice. I was very excited for the truffle Mac burger, & the mac was good but the burger itself was very bad. I asked for medium rare & it was anything but. & it just tasted like a frozen burger. My friend compared it to a cookout burger. The bbq sauce I got on the side was not good, it simply didn't taste like bbq. It was so sweet, there was no tang. I was visiting Raleigh for the weekend and this place was a hit! Definitely would recommend if you're in the area. As the name suggests, everything is made from scratch so substitutions are easy (which I truly appreciate as I'm gluten and dairy free). I ended up getting the Buddha bowl (replaced tofu with grilled chicken) and it was delicious. Our table also got the scratch fries and they were AMAZING. it's a huge platter so would recommend ordering if you have a bigger group. Our server was wonderful and kind. We came back again and it did not disappoint! This time brought the whole family. We enjoyed the appetizers which came out quickly, pork belly bites were so delicious. The wontons again, did not disappoint. On this visit, we ordered dessert. Oh my gosh, the peach cobbler like dessert had a great balance of not being too sweet but being just right. The chocolate dessert was so rich and amazing! I am not a fan of rhubarb so I didn't eat it but I hear the strawberry/rhubarb dessert was also delicious. What can I say about Scratch Kitchen that hasn't already been said? It became an absolute staple of the Cary area from the moment they expanded from their Apex location (which is just as awesome!). It's located directly in Cary Downtown which has slowly but surely become a place with a very solid nightlife scene, and it's the perfect place for a night out, and surrounded by a bunch of great breweries. Now I think back to my first ever experience at this location when they had their grand opening. They were short staffed, did not have multiple items available, and generally had a weak start, in my opinion. I don't think they were quite prepared for just how popular their expansion would be, to be fair to them. With that said, there is a reason for this glowing review: they have not had one bad service since that day. The service, food and overall atmosphere is top notch, and their Scratch Burger is to die for. It's my go-to order because every dang time it's just pure perfection. Now I also have to speak on the Cesar salad with shrimp. Pure epic-ness in your mouth. It's a unique little salad that has a nice crisp to it and they always knock it out of the park with the shrimp. Verdict: This has been a staple spot for not only me, but many people in Cary because they consistently deliver on flavor. The service while hit and miss and very dependent on just how busy they are, remains solid more often than not. If you're in the area and looking for a tasty meal, you've found your spot. Wow! What a place. Not only is the service top notch, the food matches it. A couple of weeks ago, my wife and I met fellow Yelp Elite, Chandra, here for brunch and, as a first timer, you can guarantee we'll be back for more. FOOD: Crispy Chicken Sandwich (huge); Truffle Mac & Cheese Burger with truffle fries and 1 order of pimento cheese wontons. Beginning with the pimento cheese wontons, they were light, crisp and included 2 different drizzles to experiment with. These didn't last long at all and were a perfect start. My Mrs. struggled to take bites of the mammoth chicken sandwich but savored every bite and even allowed me to try it out. This isn't processed, pre-packaged chicken and cheese. This is all house-made and it tastes like it, too. Flawlessly cooked. As for my Mac & Cheese burger? Oh my. It's not your standard, classic cheeseburger. This gourmet sandwich is stacked with a fried, breaded disc of homemade mac and cheese on top of fresh, grilled beef. It was delish, it was filling, it will be had again. 5 STARS!! SERVICE: Again, we had Claire and management follow up with us often, asking how everything was, sharing backstories of the menu and refilling waters adequately. I wasn't a huge fan of scratch kitchen and taproom. I really wanted to like it; I love southern food, but there were many things that weren't great. I ordered the harvest salad with salmon. Mostly, the salad was truly delicious and so creative, but my salmon was raw in about 70% of the filet. I want asked how I wanted my salmon so I figured it would be cooked all the way. I also bit down on a walnut shell in my salad, so glad it didn't chip a tooth! My husband ordered a burger and fries. He enjoyed the burger, but the fries were way over fried. We asked our server if it was possible to cook the salmon a little more and different fries that weren't overcooked. Our server seemed angry and annoyed with us. A manager came over and she was so nice and friendly with us though. We got a new thoroughly-cooked salmon and brussel sprouts instead of fries. The strawberry trifle for dessert was okay. Overall, it wasn't a great experience and I think we would try something different next time in downtown Cary. read more
