My friends and I always come here for their Sunday/Monday specials! They have such a fun atmosphere and amazing chipotle wontons. Seriously even if you hate wontons these are to die for. The sushi is good- the customer service is horrible. Made a reservation on a Saturday morning for a 7:15pm table. When i arrived, they asked if we wanted inside or outside seating. I have heard so many great things about the view, we asked for outside, to which the hostess replied that there would be a 30 minute wait. Okay, well inside then. So they bring us to this bar area, where we are facing a wall in the corner. This, to me, is usually where you wait while they are getting your table ready, but okay- the restaurant was busy, i get it. However, there were several tables empty in the normal restaurant area. I counted at least 2 within plain view. The sushi was taking FOREVER to come, so after about 30 minutes of sitting there waiting, I went to the hostess and asked to be seated at a real table and she replied "No, those are reserved" I'm like well, um okay. So i return to my "table" and stare at the wall for another 15 minutes before our food came. Our waitress, Shirley (who by the way is just the sweetest, and the only one who seemed concerned I was unhappy) talked to the management on our behalf after I explained the situation. So, a man approaches us and asks if everything is okay and I told him the situation. He said he was the owner and then apologized, and we could have just ended it there- BUT, no he decides to get argumentative with me! Saying that i made the reservation too late by doing so the same day, and if I ever want to sit outside, I have to specifically request that. Oh, and by the way, I should make the reservation 3 days in advance next time! They apparently seat you by priority based on when you reserve a table?!?!? He also said that I'm lucky i made a reservation because if you don't you can't even get seated. Then he says that they keep tables open inside in case it rains so that the people sitting outside can move inside. There was not a cloud in the sky, by the way. The sushi was good, like i said, but not THAT good that you can bully me around and make it seem like i'm somehow responsible for your poor management, planning, and policies. I'm from NYC have been to MANY restaurants (WAY better than this one) before and this seating policy is absurd. When you make a reservation, you are supposed to be guaranteed a seat at the first available table in that time slot. Not that there are empty tables and you get shoved in a corner to stare at a wall. My husband and i were the only ones sitting there for the better part of the 2 hours we were there. We watched people waltz in and walk right outside to the preferred seating. I won't return, but i went to a place in Tosa a couple of weeks ago, Thai-namite, where the sushi was just as good, (maybe even better) the seating was plentiful, and the staff had manners and some general knowledge on how to treat people. read more

Confusing above all: heard such good things for years so was super stoked to enjoy a dinner here. Sat at the bar and was overlooked due to the bartender hanging with guests who appeared to be friends of his so decided to get my order to go, especially after I was told my drink order was essentially a pain in the butt to get, too. It was a menu item! I didn't even order anything strange! I know the food isn't necessarily designed for take-out, however the five minutes that it took me to get home should not have much detracted from the quality had it been quality food to begin with. $40 worth of some of the most sub-par rolls and a greasy brown salad. A very beautiful location right on the Milwaukee river front. The sushi was some of the best I have ever had. Especially the Screaming Tuna roll which was by far my favorite roll I have ever eaten. Went for lunch last week and loved it. Had the beef teriyaki which was served with soup, salad, rice and a noodle dish. Everything in the bento box was very good (including the teriyaki sauce) and the price wasn't too expensive. Also ordered some basic rolls (California and Spicy Tuna) and they were very tasty and of course fresh. The rolls aren't cheap but worth it. Service was fine and atmosphere was very nice. One question is location and the parking. You have to really know where you are going to get there and good luck finding a spot nearby. I'm assuming they have valet at night. Hope this place makes it because I plan on returning! read more

I have been a few times, most recently for my bday dinner and the food was great! If you haven't been there for their service industry night, you have to go! The only reason I'm giving them 4 stars is the amount of time it took for the food to come out- the excuse was that everyone was ordering sushi, which really, what were they expecting- it was Sunday and the sushi was at a discounted price, of course your customers would only order sushi! To credit them my friend ordered shrimp fried rice which wasn't on the menu but they made it for her without hesitation! I definitely recommend them for a larger party reservation, but maybe not on their service industry nights though you can't pass up those sushi deals! read more

First time I dined here, almost one year ago, I was not overly impressed. Thought we would give it another chance because we were downtown & in the mood for sushi, plus it was a nice evening, so wanted to sit out on the river. Great sushi dinner. For 2 of us we had 2 drinks each, an app, and 4 rolls. The no name roll was my favorite. The AKA roll is refreshing. Excellent service. Great presentation. Fun cocktails. Great views of the city and the river. Only complaint was that the spicy tuna roll was not spicy at all. And I'm allergic to shellfish and they couldn't guarantee the sushi would not be made on a separate part of the line. read more

This has always been our go to for sushi. Beautiful view and restaurant, wonderful and unique dishes. The last few times have all been disappointing, primarily the service. Tonight we went at 5:40, the outside was busy not full, the bar area full, Zero tables occupied on the inside. The hostesses seemed a little overwhelmed and made us feel like we were bothering them. Telling us the wait for a table was 40 minutes.. Obviously I asked why since the restaurant was not nearly full inside or out. The dismissive response was "our kitchen is too small to serve a full restaurant" not sure at all what that meant??? I'm only writing because this is our 3rd recent instance of poor customer service in what was our regularly frequented favorite neighborhood restaurant. read more

Fantastic views! This is a very posh place for my taste, so it's great for celebrating or starting a night out right with a delicious meal. Their sushi is fabulous...I'd call it Rock Star sushi because it's so colorful and interesting. I'd say you should be prepared for a longer dinner, since the sushi can take awhile to prepare as it's made by hand (obvi). I was very impressed. I asked the to try and recreate a roll I had a long time ago and they nailed it and actually improved it. The only reason I don't give five stars is their beef tataki was not very good and I am not sure the sauce was ponzu like it should have been. My Roomie and I come every week, however no one seems to notice except for our regular check ins on four square. I truly enjoy the sushi and ambiance but the staff requires some much needed training in paying attention to customers in two areas. The first being when I said my Roomie and I come here weekly I was not being dramatic. Proof? Technically said Roomie is not my Roomie any longer since we no longer live together but we still meet here to catch up and enjoy delicious sushi. Second. We do not enjoy delicious service with our sushi, every server who approaches our table asks if it's our first time visiting (pretty standard server greeting to attempt a connection-pretty sure they use it at Olive Garden) we say no because that would be a lie. Not a big deal unless the same server who's greeting you tonight has served you several times in the last few months... Maybe I just have a generic face-I'm not sure. There is one server, Alex, who is amazing and has referred to us as regulars on a regular basis as well as puts off good vibes. Regardless of the staff the sushi is amazing and I can't stop coming. This was my second time here. First time was a 5, with an attentive server, big table. This time was terrible. I reserved for ten ppl, they had a table for 8. Our male server was more interested in getting his hands on the little blonde waitress than refilling drinks or water. Literally saw him grab her butt and put his arms around her. He did not offer more ETOH drinks and gave sparing refills of warm water. We asked for a larger table when there were obviously more available (before our food came), and were not given one. Instead 11 of us were packed into a hot booth by the kitchen. Two of our orders were wrong, but at least he corrected them. I won't be recommending this to anyone again. I was embarrassed that it was my idea to bring my friend here for her BD. read more

Two of us went 4/9/11 and the place had a lot of energy. We chose to sit at the counter where the food was prepared. We ordered a number of appetizers. The No Name roll was outstanding as was the Kobi Beef roll. The lettuce in the lettuce wraps was fresh, crisp, and cool. The wraps were excellent. The 4 pieces of sushi were as good as any I've ever had and I'd recommend using the wasabi sauce to make the sushi even more enjoyable. Screaming Tuna is a "trendy place" that's a great addition to the dining scene in Milwaukee. We're going back this week-end and plan on making this one of our regular stops. read more

IF the sushi is bad send it back, drinks in Nashville Tn can start at $20 for good martini so the drink prices seem cheap to me. Honest review. Took a gf who was in town here for lunch on Saturday, the 11th of May. Every time I come here I wanna give this place 5 stars but I can't due to the average to flat out bad service. Our waitress was nice, but forgot my spoon to soup, side of siracha mayo, and my gfs drink. Didn't check back in on us til she dropped off the bill It was not busy. I'm not here to be negative but it's like great service is a lost art these days. We had to track down two other servers to get water refills. Sushi is always good, I can count on that, but I don't think I will bring guests here in the future after talking this place up every time and then being let down. read more

I came in on a Saturday night with a friend about 5:30pm. That's pretty early right? The place was dead. I was asked by the hostess if we had a reservation and we didn't so I said "No." We were then seated in the bar area instead of in the dining room. Do you know what sucks about sitting in the bar instead of the dining room? You don't get the view! The chairs for the tables in the bar area face inwards towards the bar and the TV's instead of outward where you can soak in a great view of downtown Milwaukee. I was kinda upset that this is where they stuck us just because we didn't have a reservation. The food and service were OK. The waitress was very friendly and came back multiple times to check on us. The food (garlic edamame, suzuki sashimi, wasabi tuna roll, kobe roll, and another roll of some sort that I cannot remember) was OK. Nothing mind blowing. A side note for anyone ordering the garlic edamame: it's messy. Not a great app to order on a first date but that has really nothing to do with whether this restaurant sucks or not. I don't know. I'm not a sushi snob but I do enjoy it every once and a while. I would say I've gotten better elsewhere but the food here wasn't bad. The service wasn't bad. Our seat location WAS bad. I guess you gotta call in for a reservation no matter what time you're coming in to get a seat in the dining room. The whole place kinda had a pretentious feel too it. It was OK, just nothing extraordinary. Their saving grace at this point is the view they can offer of downtown Milwaukee (as long as you aren't in the bar area of course) and their large outdoor patio they can use in the summer. read more

Waitresses did well keeping up with us.. so, tuna pizza appy- kinda weird to have a meal served on tortilla in a japanese restaurant, but YUMMMMMMMMY! totally loved it- spicy tuna, raw tuna... YUM ..the signature roll was fab- i read other reviews that it was not good because of falling apart, but it was so delicious that did not matter... had 2 other rolls, were GREAT! My husband and I split a California roll and a sake roll. They were ok. We also split the fried stuffed wonton appetizer and they were amazing and worth $10. I wish I would of just ordered two as an entree instead of the Salmon teriyaki. It was mediocre and not worth the cost. We ordered the tempura ice cream and enjoyed it very much. The restaurant itself is very beautiful and wonderfully designed. It has a very romantic setting with a beautiful view of the city. The cost is kind of high. The service was average. Wow. I read some of the reviews and wonder if I went to a different Screaming Tuna. We had a great experience. We had no reservation so we had a short (one drink) wait at the bar before getting a table on the patio. It was a warm summer night, so I thought it was pretty fortunate that we were able to be seated outside. I had the Ginger Cosmo and it was very tasty. Meanwhile, once outside, we ordered spring rolls, salmon ceviche, and two rolls - one with tempura shrimp and eel and the other with tuna. All of our food was excellent. We did have to wait longer than I thought we should have for our first course, but the pace after that picked up nicely. I'll have to go back on a Sunday for half price sushi. read more

Went to Screaming Tuna last Sunday. They have a special on Sundays for I believe half off. Everything that we ordered was fantastic! One roll was better than the next. Our favorite was the no name roll. I had the pear martini and it was fantastic too. Our server was very friendly and attentive. I would have to say that this was the best sushi so far in all the places that I have tried. Definitely will be going back, especially for the special price! read more

A sushi place in the middle of the country that provides quality fish on a daily basis is quite rare and Tuna is certainly a gem in that regard but more recently I've discovered their under appreciated brunch menu. I'm new to the city so certainly I haven't hit every spot but as an avid brunch goer and self proclaimed breakfast food connoisseur, Tuna's brunch is head and shoulders above everyone I've tried here in Milwaukee and competitive with any I've had anywhere. The brunch menu itself is small but every item is a must try and incredibly they offer their full menu in addition. They just started offering bottomless mimosas and, at least for the time being, you can avoid the 20-30 minute wait synonymous with Brunch. read more
