Had the chili stuffed with Jack pancetta and shaved parm, yeah yall killed it. We wolfed it down. I ordered the southwest chicken salad again, great flavors and ingredients!!!!!! My friend ordered the coob and she at the whole thing. Server was really nice and friendly and got our orders out fast and it was busy. I would definitely recommend this one, so many other good things to choose from. Again, the chili was delicious,Ice tea was always full and iced in the Heat Wave . The sandwiches are enormous. You can definitely share them. I got the buffalo turkey. It wasn't all that spicy, but if you're a black pepper makes me scared person, I wouldn't order it. The flavor of the fixings are great, the components sure. The real star is the bread. It holds together but compresses down. It looks like crusty bread which is often so dense. Not at all the case here. I think when we go back, I'll share a half with someone because I was sleepy after because of the size. Arnold Palmer was largely iced tea, the correct way. Price is pretty good for a gigantic sandwich. Speed is fast. They're friendly. Parking is pretty easy on a side street. read more

Sensational subs. Where I come from (Brooklyn) we call a Sub a Hero. And these sensational sandwiches are actually Superheroes. Our first time here and we tried three of their best. The meatball. The Pizza. And the Italian Beef. Each was wonderful. So glad we had our lunch here. The beer selection is excellent and we were amazed at the high quality of the full service bar. I had a little different impression of this place, I thought it was a straight up deli but it's really more of a little bar/sports bar that serves food. Either way the sandwich was delicious. My wife and I split a club grinder which was a good idea since the sandwich was huge and definitely enough for two people. I also had the house made potato salad, which was pretty good except it had pickles in it, which I'm not a fan of. Service was friendly, and the food definitely isn't "fast" but it came out in a reasonable time. There's no parking lot at all, but there's enough street parking around. We loved how the bread was toasted and everything tasted very fresh. The turkey in particular was really good. Don't get down to Eugene too often but would love to go back sometime! read more

We decided to try this place after seeing a write up. We were a bit apprehensive when we walked up because it was a bit of a small place, but we were soon won over by the friendly staff, great drinks (love a well made cocktail with a large single ice cube!) and delicious sandwiches. I was not satisfied with my visit and can not see how this place has a near 5 star rating. The food was more suburban in quality than one might would find in a small town or large city. Portions are just adequate. The diners that have previous stated that the sandwiches were stuffed with meat is questionable. Sandwiches start at $16. and go upward. There are no sides that accompany your sandwich other than a pepperoncini and a quarter slice of pickIe (it is a good small peice of pickle). I understand the cost of food, if the ingredients were natural/organic, this is not the case. The bar which is obvious their main fuction of this establishment is well stocked with institutional ingredients namely all McCormack brand. The worst thing is to try to eat at a place where the owner and staff are talking loud about BJs while you're eating. Definitely a neighborhood bar (not a deli) with lots of loud bathroom banter. read more

The good - the amount of meat in the sandwiches is epic. They really load them up. The setting is a cool old grocery store in a hippy neighborhood. The bad - the meat quality is marginal as they all seem to be heavily processed and salted. The turkey on the menu is actually turkey ham, for example. It's not easy to get much in the way of vegetables here. The place is kinda dirty as is the kitchen. Prices are marginal - $19 for a roast beef sandwich with no side. If you are an old style hippie who craves a super meaty sandwich this might be your vibe. Can't say we would rush back. read more

Scribles Bistro and Deli is great! It's situated in a neighborhood in Eugene and is basically a neighborhood bar. The service was good. The employees were friendly. It was a little slow but that was okay. I went here for a pre-race meatball sub and I wasn't disappointed. The meatballs were large and there was plenty of cheese. The meatballs were flavorful and the sauce hit the spot. The bread was also good and toasted nicely. They had some other good sounding sandwiches as well. Big fan! I wouldn't call myself a sandwich. aficionado, but I do know a good sandwich when I come across one. This is the spot. It might seem a bit pricey (my sandwich + tip = $20) but portions are large and delicious. I ate my whole sandwich, but I saw most people leaving with leftovers....oops. I ordered the Italian Beef on a gluten free hoagie. I don't eat gluten free by necessity but I do dabble. :) Scribles really stands out for their GF options I think - offering two types of gluten free breads (sliced white and the aforementioned hoagie roll) with no upcharge and everything is very clearly labeled on their menu as to GF or not. That can be hard to find, especially when it comes to sandwich places! Now as for the contents of my sandwich, well, it was SOOO GOOD. The beef, Italian sausage and veggies were cooked perfect and so flavorful with the au jus in there. I loved it! Scribles is an interesting joint. There's a dim indoor area with about 5 tables, a small bar that is right up against the open kitchen / register, and a smattering of TVs around and various sports team paraphernalia (I spotted mostly Packers and Seahawks). It's comfortable and cozy, like the place has been here for decades kind of feel. Pass through that and down a bit, you'll go through the backdoor to a patio of sorts (dog friendly!) and restrooms are outside too. I stopped in with a friend on a Sunday about 1pm and the place was busy but not packed. Service was friendly though we didn't have a ton of interaction with the staff. It seemed like everyone working there was in a good mood. Lastly, watch out for the tricky front door. Going in, it looks like you should just push it open but it has one of those older handles where you push the top lever down first. It puts up a fight! Same on the way out. I bet 75% of the patrons leaving that day had trouble with it sticking. It was, at least, entertaining to watch from my seat. read more

I came in yesterday with an amazing friend and fellow Yelper who told me about Scribles. I had never heard of it, and probably driven by it a million times and never noticed it. We went in for lunch and both picked the French dip sandwich. I'm a sucker for a great French dip, so obviously I had to try it here to form an opinion. I wasn't disappointed! I must try the turkey sandwich the next time I go, and trust me when I say that I'm already planning and anticipating my next visit. Portion size for the price is fabulous. For two sandwiches (with leftovers) and 2 soda/ice tea, it cost like $37. It is definitely worth it. Service was great, we ordered at the counter and then picked our seat. The employee came back to check on us, bring boxes, and made it an excellent experience. The restaurant itself is tiny, but it doesn't feel cramped. It has the same kind of relaxed casual vibe that the McMenamins on High street has. That's the vibe it reminded me of. The word cozy speaks to me here. You can enjoy delicious food, conversations, and just relax. Would I return? Repeatedly! These are the kind of sandwiches that feed and nourish my inner fat kid and just make her happy.
