My husband and I have a wedding registry with Scully & Scully and have had a wonderful experience. When we called to make an appointment (same day) they were courteous about fitting us in last minute. Sue helped us review our registry purchases and was patient while we perused the store. Very disappointed with store. I purchased two luxury belts. The belts arrived in "zip lock" bags. How can a fine store mail merchandise in "zip lock" bags??? I telephoned customer service upon arrival of items (5/6/22) and advised of the issue. I was promised proper boxes/packaging. It is 2:45 p.m. on 5/11/22 and I still have yet to receive said items. I did not have a great experience with Scully & Scully. I ordered cashmere slippers in early December for a Christmas gift and waited and waited for them to arrive. The arrival date was set to be a few days before the holiday but they never showed up. I followed up multiple times but was never answered by customer service until mid January. The item had been out of stock but no one ever notified me (they admitted it was an inventory / technical issue). I recently was introduced to Scully and Scully thru their magazine. Over the past 6 months i've bought a few home pieces, including Hermle and a Comitti mantle clocks. Both worked for a while but now both have a disconnect between the chimes and the time showing on the face. My husband and I received this frame as a wedding gift. It was more work to receive it with my name, Marie, spelt correctly than it was worth. The buyer spelt my name right on the order form which I know because it was enclosed with the gift. The company apparently did not care that they incorrectly engraved a $600 wedding gift. They didn't return emails. Phone calls just left me on hold and false promises that they were shipping me a new one after I shipped back the incorrect one. It took over 6 weeks to get it corrected. I don't appreciate having to work at and spend hours following up on their error. I purchased an expensive item as a birthday gift for my mother. I got an automatic email confirmation immediately after the purchase, but after that I heard nothing. On the website, it says that they do not charge your credit card until the item is shipped. After almost a week, I put the order number into the website--and it said that the item was backordered! I wonder why no one bothered to inform me! Worse still, my credit card had already been charged the full price! I am absolutely enraged. This is so completely inappropriate. I am waiting for them to respond to my inquiry. If I don't hear a response soon, I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau. It's really not even about the money, though the item was costly. If I could give them zero stars I would. Bought the silver baby comb for my daughter who lives in another state and my ex said it looked cheap and was really light. I went to visit shortly after and got to hold this so called "real silver" comb and it was basically like plastic. Over $500 keepsake comb that was poorly made and questionable if it had even a speck of silver. My friend and I came in here the other day just to see what they had and to walk around. I was looking for something for a parent, my friend was looking for something for a friend (but of course they will never know this or even cared to ask based on how they treated us). The second we walked in we felt judged and every room we went in we were followed by an employee hovering over us no more than ten feet apart at all times. We were entirely judged by our age and clothes, and they absolutely treated us as lesser-than. It was so disrespectful on so many levels. I'm so sorry we weren't looking for items for a wedding registry or dressed in 'status quo' attire (even though ours was perfectly respectable), but following us around the store like we are potential criminals is unbelievably rude and ridiculous. Ordered a pricey lamp and heard nothing for a month until I took the initiative to contact them via email. After about a week, someone replied that what was listed on their site as taking "7 to 10 days" to ship was really going to be two months. I replied that I was very unhappy with their customer service. No reply. At the end of the 2 months, I called and it took dialling five times to get through because there was something wrong with their phones. Then I got hung up on and had to call back. I grew up with bespoke luxury and as a result became a designer. I work in my studio 12-15 hours a day 7 days a week and found I was sensitive to LED lighting winding up in the ER. I need to replace my studio work desk with incandescent lighting immediately. I ordered a beautiful over-sized lamp with a turn around of 7-10 days which turned into 2 months. Some of the excuses were valid, shipping blockages and Covid. The staff seemed exhausted and needed to put me on hold; I felt they hadn't been given enough direction to inform their clients without asking management. When the lamp finally arrived it looked like a faded poorly crafted knockoff of the original image. The owner is clearly the one at fault. I ordered a large sterling tray for a wedding. When I received the item, it was in a large shipping box. The box was so large it would not fit in my car. I phoned to see if I could get the original box that it came in so I could present it to my customer. I was told by the customer service representative that I would get one within 3 business days. I did receive a package, although it was a blue bag, and was not even close to large enough to put the tray in, along with some wrapping paper that would not cover 1/3 of the tray. I called, and spoke to customer service again, and was informed that he will check, and call me back right away. I expressed the urgency of getting this to my customer. No call 3 hours later. So I called back again, and spoke to another representative, and was informed at this time that they don't have a box for my item. I am completely at a loss of what I am suppose to do. The tray was not an inexpensive item. You would think if an item cost 1600.00 you would get something to put it in. Customer service has been my biggest asset to my businesses over many years. This is not a good company to work with. Please look elsewhere if you are looking to get what you pay for. I am in a crunch to get a gift to my customer, and the return indicates that it can take 90 days for a refund. My obligation is to my customers. I wish Scully & Scully would do the same. read more

I ordered two silk pillows from Scully and Scully - they were sent quickly and packaged well. They are beautiful - fabric Is silk and they are pieces of art. However, the pillow inserts used by Scully and Scully are not high quality which was disappointing. One of the pillows was not what I thought I had ordered. Their website kept reverting to another color when I was ordering - thought it was remedied, but evidently not. I decided to contact them to ask about the inserts and return the one pillow to exchange. This is when I realized that Scully and Scully is not customer focused. I sent two emails - one about the insert and another regarding receiving the wrong color. No response, so I called. Darby was the person I spoke with. There was No acknowledgement other than "we cannot keep up with our emails". He stated he would speak with someone - Darby is not a warm or engaging person. He corrected me when I used the word pink - it was suppose to be magnolia - how could I be so wrong? And my sense was that he would have argued with me if I had questioned anything. There was an air of condescension - certainly not a customer friendly tone. I was to receive an email with a return mailing address. but I did not, and called again. He seemed annoyed - maybe because Darby believes only farmers and lumberjacks live in Minnesota and all we know is about milking cows and fishing - and we have no knowledge of design or art. But of course Minnesota is beautiful and I happen to love fishing and I know how to milk a cow. I also love beautiful design. I suspect he would not understand this. He clearly was impatient and had no time. I am returning both pillows because I received the wrong color and the inserts are not soft. And although mistakes are human, I expect to be treated kindly as a customer. And after the time I spent trying to remedy this, I am being charged a $12 return fee! I tried Scully & Scully for the first time recently. Purchased a "luxury" men's travel manicure set with implements supposedly handmade in Germany. Some of the implements are indeed made in Germany; they're stamped by the manufacturer. But the nail clippers, the most important implement in a men's manicure set, isn't stamped by the manufacturer. They're the worst quality clippers I've ever owned, including those bought at drug stores. They're tiny--too small even for me and I have tiny hands. No average-sized man could use them. They don't cut cleanly; they leave jagged edges. I tried contacting Scully & Scully customer service but received no reply. I tried writing a fair review on the website, but they won't post it. I placed an order for my son's graduation from college on 4/30/2020. I received a confirmation email and notice that it would be shipped in a few days. I followed up on the order 5/12/2020 and was told first that it was back ordered and later cancelled. I understand Covid-19 is having a major effect on all of us. I placed an order for a Christmas gift for my wife, - and received a confirmation. It was to be sent to a friend and charged to me. All names/addresses/phone numbers were correct and traceable. Having heard nothing in three weeks, I called - and was told they'd look into it and let me know. Response: nil. I called again, and was told that the finance people (whoever they are) had suspected fraud and cancelled the order - but no one called me, despite having the info, in hand to do so. I wrote an e-mail, and got a reply: 10 mailing address different than billing address - suspicious!; they could find e at my address but not at the shipping address - clearly fraud!!! If those NY "cover-your-butt" (add your own noun here) had checker further, they could have verified the addressee DID in fact live at that address with the delivery phone number. I also asked S&S to respond if they could still have the item delivered in time for Christmas. No response. As a final resort, I called the store "cold" and tried to buy the item - and was told they didn't have it! All this could have been avoided if S&S had only said that a month earlier! Clearly, despite having been in business for 80-odd years, "customers" have become a cash source rather than an essential part of a successful business. In looking at other reviews, it strikes me that customers either rave about S&S or blaspheme them. My wife, whose opinion I trust, has a semi-positive, but neutral, assessment: a pain in the butt to do business with, salvaged by one individual in customer service. In looking for a Mother's Day gift for the wife, I found a great breakfast bed tray online that I thought would be perfect. Of course I agonized whether or not to order it since the Scully & Scully reviews appear to be either a 5 or a 1, which makes one nervous. On Sunday before Mother's Day, I decided the tray was worth the chance and placed my order, paying the additional cost of 3-day shipping. Notification that the package had been shipped arrived Monday evening and the tray was delivered to Texas on Thursday, in plenty of time for the occasion. The tray was wrapped in a box within a box and arrived in perfect condition. I couldn't have been more pleased with the process. I was a customer and a fan of their products. I ordered a beautiful leather Chesterfield loveseat and a gorgeous table lamp. Both arrived in perfect condition and look just lovely in my home. I was going to order a bookcase next, but since I was going to be in NYC, I thought I'd visit the store to view the piece first, since it would be bulky and inconvenient to return if it didn't suit my needs. Visiting the store was quite the eye-opener! A manager came up to me and asked if he could help me. When I said I was just looking, he had one of his staff members follow me around the store. She tried to be discreet, but it was so obvious to me what was happening. No one else in the store was receiving this "suspicious character" treatment. At one point, she got anxious because she thought she had lost me, but I was just out of view behind a pillar. When she "found" me, she was clearly flustered. I asked her why she was following me around the store. She claimed that she just wanted to see if I needed help, and that her manager had asked her to ask me if I needed help. I told her I didn't appreciate being treated like I didn't belong in the store, that I was an online customer, that I loved their products, but that this treatment is how one turns a loyal customer into an ex-customer. I should have gone up to the manager and said something to him, too, but I was so upset, I just walked out. I'm not sure why I was singled out for this type of treatment. I am a 61-year-old woman of color. I was dressed in casual clothes, befitting a warm summer's day in NYC. I had just come from MacKenzie-Childs where I was treated with the utmost respect and cordiality, and where I did make a purchase for delivery to my home in California. I probably would have purchased that bookcase from Scully & Scully if I had received the same respectful treatment from them. read more
