The cheese on the tacos had an interesting texture but really nice flavor. I could probably eat the cheese with crackers and be happy. The chorizo was overly salty and took away from the flavor. Hubby said his burrito was, "okay," but also found it to be salty. Daughter enjoyed her food. I had a bite of both their burritos but the bean burrito tasted like canned beans and as far as the nopales burrito goes, I've just never been a fan of nopales. Blaine is not a customer service guy. He was rude to my wife, mother in law and other patrons. The rice and beans didn't have any obvious changes. Their bar has more variety! I tried their Mexican Lager. HUGE CON!!: I first found out about Señor Grubby's in 2015 at Taco Fest! I tried their pastor and pork belly tacos and instantly fell in love....it saddens me to report that both the pastor and pork belly are not the same. Both lacked flavor. New Year's Day and the restaurant of our choice is closed. We drove around and saw this place. Available parking nearby too. Good thing it wasn't crowded. You order and find a table. The lady was so nice and let us took a menu, sat down and decide what to order. I got the Pork Gastronomo and my SO ordered Chicken Torta. My food was okay. My husband and I had a very unpleasant experience at this location. Our waitress, a blonde woman in her mid-40s, was extremely rude from the start. The tone she used with us was unprofessional and downright disrespectful. I understand it may have been busy with the farmers market going on, but that's no excuse for treating customers so poorly. When I got home with my burrito, I live 1 block away, the red salsa cups were already bulging due to pressure. Just discovered this O'side gem recently. The food and service are both excellent! Dietary Conscious Beans and rice are vegetarian friendly and there are several options for vegetarians as well as pescatarians and carnivores. Atmosphere The owners are delightful and set a very friendly tone which can be felt throughout the establishment! This is a fast casual restaurant with a great little full service bar. Indoor seating is comfortable and the outside patio is a great place to hang out and people watch. The place is always very clean! Food We have had the bean and cheese burrito, noodles burrito, shrimp nachos, shrimp torta... all were excellent! Portions are generous, but not at the cost of quality! Service Food is always delivered quickly and service is great! This has quickly become our goto Mexican place in O'side. Pros: Food, service, fun friendly atmosphere. (We go to the Carlsbad location all the time and love it) We were not disappointed! This location has the same great food. We all had various tacos and they were all delicious. I'm an al pastor girl so I ordered one of each for taco Tuesday. When I checked in on Yelp I discovered a free taco with check in and they allowed me to get it, even though I had paid. I observed some cool decor as I headed to the salsa bar. I got both green salsas. I received my order quickly and headed to my car. I bit into the carnitas first and instantly regretted not getting all 3 carnitas. The meat had a crisp to it, unlike any carnitas I've ever had before. The pastor had the pineapple but lacked the flavor and marinade I prefer. I'm glad I tried this place again. The carnitas here is a must. One of the salsas was really spicy. read more
