My wife and I were thrilled that Grubby's Oceanside was able to finally open for in restaurant dining, so we rode our bike over there on Friday afternoon. They were so organized and ready! We had a few drinks out on the patio and had the Carlsbad Burrito and Queso Dip. As always, Grubby's delivered on all levels. My friends and I had an amazing time at this restaurant. It had all the games on while we ate including my Dodgers! The food was amazing as well. I couldn't stop ordering their carnitas tacos while my friends took down their famous burritos. Our server Kylie was super friendly and made us feel right at home. The service was fantastic from her. Customer service goes a loooong way even if the food is decent. Went to grab some lunch today with my kids and also wanted a michelada. The kids picked out a table for us and they sat down while i ordered. After I ordered lunch, the cashier said if I wanted alcohol I have to go to the bar and see the bartender. I did and asked the bartender if she can make micheladas. She said yes then said that she's in the middle of making drinks for other customers. I waited for 5 minutes then sat down with my kids. About another 5 minutes, Bartender finally got done with her other drinks but didn't bother asking me if I still wanted my drink. Not sure if she took me sitting down with my kids as not wanting a drink anymore, but she should've at least asked since I was sitting at the bar waiting prior. Perhaps maybe because I was a person of color and all her other customers she was helping out weren't . Lunch was TJ Dogs. They were decent. But I've had their breakfast burritos which were really good. Will go again for the burritos, but will not order anything from the bar if she's the bartender. read more

I never write reviews but this was a cause to write one.So since this covid situation has arrived my family has not eaten take out in the last 6 weeks...I came across an add for this place and thought to give a try with all the "amazing food" reviews. We were disappointed that we spent 34 dollars on food that did not 1 get eaten and 2 did not live up to the reviews. We ordered 2 tacos and 2 burritos. The tacos were so small and cost about 3.60 a piece and were full of grease with bland taste, the tortillas were broken...when picked up everything fell on to the plate. The burritos were not good when your spending 11+ dollars for a less than average burrito that only left our house with stomach aches from all the grease. I'm sorry to bring up the price point but I wouldn't be so upset if the taste matched the price. I will no longer be eating take out until this blows over...and if I do I will take the risk and go back to the amazing taco shops of this city. read more

If you have ever been to Los Tacos off of Vista Way and the Grubby's in Carlsbad, the Grubby's in Oceanside has significant pedigree and it shows. Best salsa bar in town. Carnitas in the Porko Verde was outstanding. Pastor and Asada, whether in tacos or burritos are spot on. (They have a "trompa" in the kitchen that carries over from Los Tacos, producing great hand carved Pastor.) My favorite is the shredded sirloin (Birria) tacos which is a nice change. The depth and complexity of flavor in the Birria makes for my number one choice which you don't find in most places. On the bar/alcohol side, full bar, great variety of local micro brews, and tequila/mezcal cocktails made from scratch. There is nothing to say that is good. Food quality is terrible; guacamole that is so thin it drips, grisly meat, undercooked tortilla chips mixed with overcooked tortilla chips, presentation is unappetizing. Everything lacks flavor. You have to order drinks separately which is poor customer service. Pricing is not inexpensive yet you get plastic cutlery. Staff are not responsive to concerns. Our order was made incorrectly and the staff tried to say it was our fault, which it clearly was not. No accountability. Locals are surprised as the Señor Grubby's in Carlsbad is known for being good and people are shocked when they go here and discover how bad it is.... I ordered online two items for an easy Sunday of watching playoff football. The order process was seamless. ApplePay as an option was convenient. I arrived 15 minutes before my scheduled pickup time. The staff was helpful, packed sauces, napkins and plastic utensils. My food was hot and tasty when I arrived home 15 minutes later. I stopped here today during the unfortunate quarantine situation while I was passing through Oceanside on my way to work. I found this place online. It was pretty conveniently located not too far off the 5 Freeway. I'm so sick of fast food!!! Ugh. I read the online reviews and it just happened that when I called, they were open. This place was absolutely amazing. I was afraid I was going to end up with a Hot Pocket from 711. Lucky man !!! I'm from San Clemente and don't know many restaurants in Oceanside, but this place is legit. Hands down, anyone reading this definitely has to try this place! The owner was working the front lines, her name was Raschelle, she had such a positive outlook on the current crisis, was wearing masks and gloves and was cooking away. BTW, the man behind the scenes preparing the food's name was Isaiah and he made the recommendation for what I ordered. Al Pastor Burrito. He came to explain the menu (and stayed 6 ft away, hahaha).
