I ordered the Coastal Classic and my pancakes were served burnt. They gladly replaced but then their syrup had a watered down taste. Yuk! Not to mention my country fried potato's were burnt with no seasoning. Overall, I was very unhappy with my order. My friend also ordered the same meal and her potatoes were also burnt and did not eat her pancakes because of the gross syrup. We will not be returning. read more

Stopped by on our way through town and we were warmly welcomed by an employee before we even walked in. We weren't sure how they operated (order then sit etc.), but each employee was so gracious and subtly guided us through a relaxed experience where we felt like one of the family. We happened to interact with 5 or so employees and each one matched the others' quality level of customer service. The owner even came by to make sure everything was good which was the icing on the cake. Usually you are spending at least twice as much money for that level of service. I live in the area so probably come by at least twice a week since they've opened. It's great having a place in walking distance open past 8. Burritos are delicious. Love the salsa bar (although wouldn't complain if a few more salsa were added). My go to is the cheese steak burrito. Their breakfast burritos are mostly pork based so not eating pork meant that I didn't partake, however, Brittany was super nice and let me substitute the sausage for carne asada. So I've been a regular at their Carlsbad location and was excited when I saw one in Downtown Oceanside. I took my good friend and he liked the el pastor burrito, however the rice and beans were so salty we didn't eat them. I ordered tacos but the tortillas were cold. I hope this is just a one time occurrence and that the food gets better, because Grubby's has been a good spot for me. However, for the meantime I'll be going to the Cbad Grubby's. read more

Wow I was let down!!!!! I took my whole family and spent over 70$ and we literally left everything it was terrible the Al pastor inlet was horrible idk where they got the recipe for Al pastor but it taste like way too much cinnamon. The dos amores sucked! I tried everything I could to like my meal but honestly I don't know who voted for this place but I should have known! It's just a hype the food had no flavor if a white Mexican food place had a face its senor grubbys ain't no authentic Mexican food taste this bad no flavor bland and Al pastor the onllllky thing we liked was the gringo cheese with chorizo that's it! On two separate occassions, i walked down the street from my residence (Tremont) and discovered this fascinating looking place called Senor Grubbys. Since I live on same street, I kept my eye on it for its grand opening. Being Mexican-American (born in the states) and a retired U.S. veteran who yelps frequently, was excited to try this new place and many dishes from the menu. However, both times I was dissapointed when I walked right up to the counter DURING BUSINESS HOURS, (door was even propped open) not to mention only a few people dining inside, and i was not even greeted. One male worker just stood behind the registor flipping tortillas on a hot stove and avoided making eye contact with me. I thought to myself (does he not see me standing here) or am I in a dream that i am in a line at a restaurant in Alabama, where they don't treat non-caucasions well???? I mean just because I have tattoos doesnt make me any less of a customer. So after being rudely ignored, I decided to speak up and ask "May i get some help?" Thats when the female who was working behind the wall to the immediate left of the registor, also ignored my request. Only this time was pretending to be too busy to acknowledge my presence. So I stood there another minute, in hopes that perhaps they were doing this because they were too busy...but there were only 3 people seated. After 5 minutes of wasted time, I walked out and found another place more worthy of my hard earned retiree money. Too bad i could have been a regular, since I only live down the street. But I would like to throw caution to the wind for any NON-CAUCASIONS that may attempt to eat there. BE WARNED. I only selected a 1 star rating because yelp will not let me post without picking any at all. So many other choices to spend hard earned cash than here. read more

Nothing special. Today my friend and I had their 3 street taco Plate with No Drink (cost about $22.00) and said it was just ok. The black beans and rice had No Flavor, the Staff was Noisy and a bit unprofessional ( goofing off) along with the male manager! For the price, The food should have been Better! We both said Chronic Tacos (On Coast Highway) was much Tastier and the Environment was better even tho it faces Coast Highway! Btw- clean your bathroom and tables too! We went out for breakfast 5/23 our local favorite spots where very busy so we decided to go to Grubbys we frequent the Carlsbad village location love the tacos we ordered a breakfast burrito and a side of bacon with 2 scrambled eggs for our dog her regular Sunday breakfast food came out my girlfriend broke up the bacon for the dog while I split the burrito she handed. a piece of bacon to Daisy ( the dog ) .....she turned her head away refusing it ....after the 3-rd attempt Daisy took the bacon them immediately spit it out I tasted the bacon ( it was over cooked ) it tasted odd and didn't resemble bacon it was more like the pork belly fat cut we gave Daisy her eggs and bacon and proceeded to eat our burrito...the eggs where under cooked the bacon in it he burrito was more like ham we both ate about half of our portion because it was that bad Daisy picked the eggs off her plate leaving the bacon she is not a picky eater she's a dog mind you fast forward 3 hours ....we became very sick ..all 3 of us my girlfriend and myself didn't get over it until Thursday Daisy fared better she was only sick for 24 hours Again we frequent the Carlsbad location 2-3 times a month never had a issue the bacon ( or whatever it was ) was obviously tainted ...sorry Grubbys for the bad review but I feel obligated because it was that terrible we won't be going back to either location anytime soon ...it ruined our appetite for Grubbys read more

It's a chicken-fried-steak breakfast burrito, gravy + red salsa = :) If you get there after breakfast get the Genghis Nhan with the HOT yellow salsa, or if you're sick of burritos get a carnitas fajita rice bowl. This place is probably my favorite go to place when I'm hungover or just craving a great bite to eat. Let's start out with the location!! It's unreal you're right by the beach and all the downtown oside amenities. My go to burrito is the Carlsbad burrito bc the pastor that grubby makes is on point. Start out with the pomegranate margarita, I don't even like pomegranate but I drank 3 of these in like 15min the tasted UNThe pastor has that perfectly good outside crisp with a nice flavorful taste. The other burrito I'm starting to like is the new " cowboy up" the carnitas in that burrito is moist & tasty let me tell ya. Also there street tacos really makes you feel like you are downtown TJ, Mexico good amount of meat and let's not forget their salsa!! Grubby's has 5 different types. I'm a green salsa kind of guy but the red is killer also. I totally recommend this place, the style that they did inside is so freakin rad. These guys are the best Mexican restaurant in down town Oceanside. I have lived here my entire life and tried all of them. I continue to come back with my satisfaction met every time. They have many things that make them great. First of all you can customize anything you want on any food item. Second of all there drink selection is perfect all the flavors you could ask for. The service they provide it outstanding. The food cashiers are super friendly and helpful when you want to ask about a food item even going as far as giving recommendations based on what you like. The bar tender is really nice he always gets the drinks right and has a really positive attitude. He's definitely one of my favorite bartenders in a restaurant in down town Oceanside. I visited the Señor Grubbys location in Oceanside yesterday. The owner Raschelle was bartending for Sunday football. They had a huge crowd and were super busy, however she was super attentive.
