Around 4 years ago I ordered the California roll for take out. I wanted to go back and experience the restaurant after I saw inside how pretty the decor was, the bar, and how good my food tasted. We can call a Sea Siam 'the gateway' because its the restaurant that made me love Thai... And then venture into other Asian cuisines that I now love. So like any other gateways... It can be dangerous, like wanting to eat Thai and Vietnamese every day dangerous. Whenever I try other Thai places, I compare it to sea siam as being my gold standard. Yes, Bangkok Bangkok is good, tani Thai is good, moon is ok... But sea siam is still my número uno. I've ordered everything on the menu and their tom kha gai soup is so freaking good, I want some right now. Many times I get the ginger salad and gang dang curry chicken. Best curry I've ever had- aside from Thailand. Let me warn you, if you say Thai hot- they'll give it to you. And you'll be sweating, but it's a good sweat. Last time we sat at the bar with the owner (I think) and drank wine cracking jokes with him. Sometimes he's super dry and sometimes he's loose. That's humankind, can't fault him for it. I digress... So I ordered the Miami vice 2, which is salmon, asparagus and avocado wrapped in cucumber. It was so good, might be my new go-to. It's really light but enough protein to keep me full! This restaurant has excellent food and a good atmosphere; I especially like the crispy duck. However, the reason for which I issue this rating is because of the pettiness of whoever is managing this place. I invited my family for a birthday and when I mentioned that there is a birthday so that they'd bring a small dessert and sing, (as I had previously), the staff said that if I wanted that they sing Happy birthday and bring a dessert, I would have to buy a full dessert. I may be old-fashioned, or restaurants are simply becoming more parsimonious (tight, frugal), but I was taken aback especially with the fact that I just paid nearly $250, and the waitstaff add themselves a 20% tip automatically, which I do not feel the waiter deserved. I do not blame Andrew the waiter's unwillingness directly, but his management needs to acknowledge that this act of pettiness cost the restaurant my patronage, a patronage of 20 years. Honestly, the service is ridiculous. If you're afraid of COVID and you can't do your job then close the restaurant. The waiters are rude and scared of even coming close to you when you're sitting outside in the scorching heat with out a mask on. They expect you to have a mask on whenever they approach you, so if you're in the middle of chewing your food pray to God that they don't come near you because they'll ask you to put a mask on. The restaurant is always empty yet we still have to wait a good while before we even get any service. Don't waste your time coming here. read more

An Asian blend loch ness hidden amongst a plaza of delights. Ok so it isn't really elusive. The oriental lion statues guarding the entrance and huge blue sign make it easy to find. As far as aesthetics go, SS was as pleasing as it could be for being just another hole in a shopping plaza. It's fairly dark on the side with the bar due to a lack of lighting (the used all the bulbs from the roof to decorate the bar) and tinted windows. Not a bad thing necessarily, especially if it's a blind date and he/she isn't very appealing... which wasn't the case for me. I thought the menu was pretty interesting. First time at a thai spot for me - tossing in some Japanese bites in the menu definitely helps ease you into the experience. The prices were a little higher than i was expecting since it isnt in a hot or trendy location, but the moderations were filling so we can look passed the few extra bucks. Waitress was attentative and checked on us many times as we sifted through the endless menu for 15 minutes before finally deciding what to get. Once we ordered, the appetizer (seaweed salad) came out fairly quickly but the sushi and main dishes took quite a while. My date and I are bother pretty boring, so this was almost torturous. We started with a "seaweed salad" - what can anyone really say about seaweed salad in general? Salty grass. It definitely wasnt overdone though, we both thought it was done right. Next came an order of "California eel rolls". The rolls looked and tasted great, but seemed like they were losely wrapped and difficult to keep together - even with my karate kid style chop stick mastery. About 4 1/2 hours later the main dishes came. I had the "Chicken pad king" and i cant recall what my date had. The veggies in my dish were just right and the ginger sauce really made that chicken. My date's dish revolved around a sauce that looked like baby vomit, and it very well could have been, but after a few dips in that sauce it actually started to taste decent. Definitely go with the ginger over anything green though! Overall we thought it was all nicely done and tastey. Something i found odd is that my dish seemed to have a lot more meat in it than my date's, i almost wonder if they cater to size? If so then they got it right. If not then we got lucky. Friendly and pleasant staff. I appreciate how this restaurant's staff uses face coverings during covid. The menu offers so many choices including a Thai menu and a Japanese menu. There was a little too much rice in the sushi but overall were pretty good. The noodles in the pad woonsen were slightly overcooked but the spice and heat of the dishes were good and made to order. The seafood and the shrimp in the summer roll were very fresh. read more

We have been coming here for years, but service here has been declining. Tonight, it took 20 minutes for someone to finally bring water and take out uncomplicated order. It was not all that busy but our server was a ghost. The salads came with the entrees. The sushi roll, wile good was not as well-proportioned as it used to. I give 3 stars only because the quality of the food (taste) was very good. Service, not so much. I will give it one more try because maybe tonight was an off night. read more

This place had a very quiet and peaceful atmosphere. I thought the service was good and speedy. If I couldn't find my server to help me, the other servers were willing to help out and basically worked together as a team which I really appreciated. The deal that I got for $9 for the gang dang curry, the egg roll and the soup was excellent. The food was all a good deal for the prices offered. The JB roll that I had (with salmon, brown rice and cream cheese) was probably one of the best rolls that I have ever eaten. It had the perfect portions for the salmon (which was a lot of salmon) and a little bit of cream cheese. It was great and I'm really looking forward to trying more of the sushi here once I get the chance. I would not say that this is THE best place for Thai food that I have ever tried (I would reserve this for Thai Spice in Oakland Park). However, this place still has great food for decent prices. Sushi Siam is one of those "staple" places -- a place that has been around forever and is still going strong. I remember coming here for a date about 13 years ago but the place is even older than that, I believe my parents were coming here in the 80s. Unfortunately, their webpage design is poor and any information about the restaurant is lacking. Sometimes, it can impress people if you have a good story behind the restaurant, as well as a timetable of their history. Maybe I'm weird for liking to read such things. They have a great lunch special deal, but I always seem to miss it, as I tend to be in the Pinecrest area in the evening, but if you're on a budget, try to get their lunch special. They have the standard Thai menu or Sushi menu, and everything is always fresh. Prices are quite reasonable for Pinecrest, but because the place is almost always full, the service can be quite slow. I think I waited a good 15-20 minutes before a server stopped by and said "are you being helped?". Once the order was placed though, the food came out of the kitchen at a speedy pace. I wasn't particularly hungry so I ordered a Tom Yum Gai soup and a Jumping Squid. The Jumping Squid was delicious, although I wish they had put in more lime juice, as it got lost between the leaves of lettuce on the bottom. The Tom Yum Gai was also good, but it seems to be pretty comparable to every Thai restaurant's Tom Yum Gai. I'd like to give 3.5 stars, just because service could be improved, but considering they have been around for so long and the food is tasty and fresh, 3 stars didn't seem like enough so I will be generous and provide a 4 star rating. read more

Never again will we eat here! My wife and I used to come here weekly. But over the past year or so Sea Siam's food quality has crashed. Today I ordered shrimp and vegetable tempura with sushi. The tempura was at best room temperature and clearly fried way before. It was disgusting. The sushi not only looked bad it had a distinctive fishy taste and smell - the kind you get when the fish is going bad. The wait staff was very responsive and respectful. Sushi was really really delicious! We paired their tuna roll with avocado and tempura added with a delightful kimchee sauce. The sauce does not come with the roll but i highly recommend ordering it on the side. The spicy tuna roll comes with it as well. Then we ordered the Volcano chicken and the crispy duck on lunch special for ten bucks each. Portions were very large and the duck was seasoned very well I just wished it was cooked medium well instead of well done. The volcano chicken was a little under seasoned for me it was not spicy at all even though it was red and had chili flakes in it. Next time i would ask for it spicy. For $10 the dishes also came with fried rice which was delicious. And a soup with little dumplings and spring rolls that were amazing. The service is what bumped my review from 3 to 4 stars our server was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed! We were in town and decided to pay ole faithful a visit. We moved out of the state 3 years ago,but before,sea Siam was our go to for sushi. The quality has gone tragically down. The portions are way smaller, the staff is not the same as well, they're new staff kinda rushes you through your food. We usually get sushi and one of the duck options, both are solid choices! Tom yum talay thong soup is really good, and you can choose your spice level. The fried snapper roll is my favorite roll to get. They also have Thai tea and Thai coffee both are good, although I'm more partial to the Thai tea! I liked the service, the volcano roll, pai thai was good. Food was all exactly as ordered, I was fasting all day and got there starving ready to eat. My friend mentioned it to the services and within 2 mini had my salad. The ginger sauce is just delicious. I can never have too much of. It. Everything came out quick, and tasted just great. I liked the decor and overall mood of the restaurant, quiet and relaxing. Apparently the different locations serve their meals differently. my friend was disappointed her food didn't come in a sizzling tray, it caramalizes the chicken to perfection. Service indicated this location doesn't do that. She was overall excellent. I believe food chains need to be consistent in delivering the same dish styles. Otherwise solid 5 stars. read more

After coming here for over five years, this is exactly what I expect from Sea Siam: Great food, excellent service, and good prices. Sea Siam is always consistent in putting out tasty, affordable food. My party of three was sat down immediately in a booth near the sushi bar in the back. We started off with Steamed Pork Dumplings and Chicken Curry Puff Pastries. I highly recommend the Puff Pastry, a delicious combination of chicken, potatoes and curry sauce inside of a flaky pastry. For entree, we ordered a Shrimp Tempura Roll and Panang Curry Chicken. The Shrimp Tempura Roll is consistently good, but I HIGHLY recommend any of the curry dishes. They are easily enough for two people, and come with a side of white rice (perfect for mixing with the curry sauce!). Sea Siam is a great place to grab an authentic Thai or Japanese dish for a great price. With large portions, great service, and excellent food, you can never go wrong here. read more

VERY DISAPPOINTED. Their customer service is poor and not accommodating in the evening. They weren't like this before. I love their rolls and eat there all the time. I craved their rolls and ordered two rolls to go this evening at 10:00. I asked if their kitchen was closed when I called and was told they are open and are taking pick up orders. So I ordered and picked it up promptly. When it came time to ask for spicy mayo, this woman named "Apple" (not the manager as she said there are two with the same name) gave me a hard time about it, saying that the roll doesn't come with spicy mayo but with eel and soy sauce. By then I had already paid, so I asked to buy it but did not have cash on me and stated that I could pay with my card. They have a $10 dollar limit and when I agreed to purchase more appetizers, she said the kitchen is now closing and couldn't take an extra order. I was willing to buy MORE just to get an extra spicy mayo sauce but was told no. Left annoyed to say the least and might have to find a new place to go to instead as they clearly do not value their repeat customers and are lacking in their customer service. read more

Food is great but the main desk wasn't too friendly, the hostess took one look at us and sat us in the back of the restaurant. She made us feel that it was because we were dressed casually not as formally as the other patrons. The two couples that were seated before us were seated in the main dining room, whereas we were take to the back where there were waitresses rolling napkins and polishing silverware. My sister and I have been going to this location for years. It's a sunday lunch time favorite. We always order the same thing and it never gets old. Everyone here already knows our order y heart. For drinks we order either the Thai coffee or Thai tea. my sister is a big fan of the spicy octopus which is raw octopus which comes with kimchee sauce. It is perfectly chewy without being too much to handle and the sauce doesn't burn your tongue off. Then we order the Volcano chicken which is a combination of sweet, salty, crunchy and tender. They bring it out on a plate and place the sauce when they arrive to the able to give it that sizzling/steamy effect. It comes with rice for the table. We always order the chicken pad thai to accompany it. These dishes are great to share between 3-4 people and we always end up taking some home. The food is good, but I don't like my server. She is not very attentive and doesn't always understand what people ask for. Why they only have 1 server who walks like she literally has all day, a runner/bus boy and the host is beyond me. We were pretty hungry when we arrived, but we were disappointed by both the slow service and food. It was as if even the people who were seated after us were served before we were. It was 45 minutes before they even decided to come back to check on us. The water glasses were filthy. The green tea was good, but even those cups had residue on them. I ordered a red curry dish and ordered them with "a little spice." They served it with no spice whatsoever; it said so even on the receipt. "A little spice" does not mean NO spice. The server told my lunch companions that their choice of entree was huge, so they opted to share it. It wasn't! It would have been fine for one person. We left still hungry and pretty disappointed.
