Extremely disappointing experience at Sushi Sake on Mother's Day. What was supposed to be a nice family dinner turned into an uncomfortable and hostile situation due entirely to the way we were treated. From the beginning, our server was rude and condescending. When I politely asked what a menu item contained, instead of simply answering the question, I was told, "It's there on the menu." The attitude throughout the night only continued to worsen. Things escalated when we requested to split the check into two payments. The server became visibly hostile and dismissive. We asked to speak with a manager, and the situation only became more uncomfortable from there. At one point, when I calmly asked the hostess whether she felt it was appropriate to speak to customers that way, the "manager/server" instructed the hostess not to speak to me in a very demeaning manner, almost as if scolding a child. I was completely taken aback by the level of disrespect and confrontation. The most upsetting part was being threatened that the police would be called if we did not pay the automatically added gratuity and leave the restaurant. Rather than continue escalating the situation during our Mother's Day dinner, we paid the bill and left. Afterward, I looked through other reviews and was surprised to find similar complaints regarding rude and confrontational behavior, which makes me feel this may not have been an isolated incident. I've visited this restaurant a few times and finally decided to share my thoughts. The ambiance is lovely, with a modern and inviting aesthetic. The service is just okay--nothing exceptional. They take your order, bring your food, and hand you the bill. There is occasionally a slight language barrier, but it hasn't been a major issue. Whenever my husband and I visit, the place is usually quiet, which makes for a very relaxing atmosphere. I've tried a variety of sushi rolls, but nothing compares to the Miami Heat roll it's absolutely delicious! Anytime I'm in the area, it's a must-have for me. My husband is allergic to shellfish, so he typically gets the "I Can't Believe It's Chicken" roll. It's nice knowing there's something on the menu he can enjoy. While I wish there were more chicken sushi options for him, he's so happy with that roll that it doesn't bother him. We also ordered a side of chicken fried rice, which was tasty, though I do wish the chicken was a bit more seasoned. Still, it was enjoyable. I had a very disappointing experience at Sushi Sake Cutler Bay today. ( April 11, 2026, around 2:30 pm) From the moment we arrived, the service was unprofessional. Our table was dirty with grease, and although it was eventually cleaned, the server was rude and dismissive from the start. The biggest issue came with my order. I asked for steak teriyaki (listed around $25), and the server suggested filet mignon without ever mentioning a price difference. When the bill arrived, I was shocked to see I was charged $60 for a completely different dish (hibachi under "market price"), which I never ordered. When I tried to calmly ask for an explanation, the server became extremely rude and refused to fix the issue. She even told me "there is the door" and threatened to call the police instead of resolving a simple billing mistake. She also claimed to be the manager, which did not seem believable given her behavior. This was one of the worst customer service experiences I've had. Man this food was soo delicious! I ordered the chicken habachi that also came with either a soup or salad. I chose the ginger salad and I upgraded my fried rice for chicken fried rice and yes it was worth it. My volcano roll was too yummy. The food came to me promptly and I honestly didn't have to wait long. My server was attentive the whole time. It wasn't too crowded and I had space for myself and my baby carriage that was with me. - They have takeout toor in case you don't want to see in. But it Soo yummy and fresh then. I asked for Ivan (server/bartender) because he has always given us great, friendly service with a smile. The owner/manager got so upset because I asked for him. She said: he's not here. Why, do you have a problem with me, and I said no. She responded: well this is the second time you ask for him (I had been there about 2 weeks ago with family and friends and we had asked for him because my daughter wanted a martini and he always made them really good). They offer endless amounts of specialty sushi rolls, including some area named ones such as the Ridgerat Roll. The menu can be overwhelming, especially if you're hungry and order one of everything (ahem, ahem...me!) Service has always been on point. The rolls come out fresh and are plentiful. Keep in mind, the sushi is prepared fresh so if the restaurant is busy, you may have to wait a bit for your rolls. The appetizers are awesome too, and aptly portioned. Rolls wise we hsd the La jeffa roll (minus the sake shot it comes with) and these rolls are big but so delicious and comes with so many different fillings of fish and crab. Every bite was worth it. We also had the pinky roll ( minus cream cheese..I hate cc on any roll) with the jalapeno topping ,shrimp tempura ,and crab. This was my favorite. Last we wanted to try something a bit different so we tried the Poseidon roll with soy paper and raw hamachi, wahoo, salmon, tuna, and cucumber, asparagus, and seaweed. This was my least favorite but it was still good once dressed up with wasabi,soy, and fresh ginger. I wouldn't order it again but we were glad we tried it. I ordered the miso soup, steamed pork shumai, and the super special fried rice or kinda like house special. The miso soup was great as usual as well as the pork shumai. I was very impressed with the house special fried rice. Plenty of flavor, chunky and plenty of the proteins being shrimp, beef and chicken.
