Went to Betty's for an early dinner. Got there at 4:30 before the rush. We ordered (4 of us) and got our drinks, didn't order any apps. Waited. Noticed it start to fill up and we're talking and just enjoying. But then we see tables that had come in after us already eating. Weird. Starts to get busier. Can't catch the waiter's eye to ask what's happening. (We're in a booth, not hidden, not outside.) Finally at 6:00, we've had enough and my husband gets up to go ask what's going on. 90 minutes after we arrived. They don't apologize. They give us stink eye looks from the kitchen. They tell him "we're going to start your order now." Hell no you're not. We're leaving now. So we pay for our drinks and get out of there. Outrageous. Won't be back. Response to owner: I think we're going to disagree on some of the details but you do seem to remember some of what happened that evening. Unfortunately it WAS 90 minutes after we arrived though, as we left right around 6pm. (I don't know what time the server put in our order to the system though.) He did start to get busy closer to 5 as I mentioned, so it may have delayed him. I have no idea. I WILL say that if you had been plating our food, we would have eaten it. We obviously would not have left just then. But that's not what happened. My husband was told it was going to be made next. We did not want to wait any longer. Who would?! But I appreciate the apology. Thanks

We have lived close to Betty's and passed by countless times. Finally we went and took an order take out and are so glad we did. The dining room is charming...similar to an old-school diner with a smiling waitress and wonderful, kind fish chef. We ordered just a small order and split it. It was plenty big for two! The fries are delicious and crispy. The fish was fresh, mild, and delicate. Our fish order wasn't very crispy, but that may have been due to the take out moisture. We will definitely return to try more options. I hear the calamari is good as an appetizer and the cream pies are yummy.

Fish was exceptionally fresh and the fish and fries came piping hot to our table. Clam chowder was thick and had large chunks of clams. Very busy for a Tuesday night.

We ordered the Colossal Fish and Chips. Great servings and nice to find a great fish n chips place in Santa Rosa.

Nice & friendly staffs and delicious food. We loved everything we ordered. Our son is a very picky eater, but he's super happy to have the fish and chips. We'll go back when we visit Santa Rosa again. Thank you and keep it up!!

Betty has quickly become my go to fish and chip place in Santa Rosa. Fish: They use a higher quality fish that flakes apart when you bite into it, which makes the experience enjoyable. Fries: Their fries are fried extra crispiness. Cole Slaw: the cabbage is so crispy and they put pineapple in their coleslaw, which sounds weird, but actually as a very refreshing flavor. It is also more on the sweet side. Fish tacos : Personal favorite I love getting their fish tacos because of the combination of coleslaw with tomato and corn salsa on top of the fried fish and a warm tortilla with a little smear of guac is absolutely divine. Lemon Cloud: Should not pass up the lemon cloud pie. The crust seems to be fried because it has such distinct crunch. The filling is creamy and lemony, and the whipped cream on top is fresh cream, which really adds to the flavor. Bread Bowl Clam Chowder: This is easily one of the biggest bread bowls I've ever gotten. Be prepared to call this and entrée or expect to split with someone else if you're looking order something else. as for the clam chowder itself, it was good but not as good as Spud Point's clam chowder in Bodega Bay. Could've used larger chunks of clam in my opinion.

Deck Hand $25.95 ONE pathetic looking small piece of fish, ONE Small prawn, and ONE scallop!

Highway robbery is their specialty! I would give them zero star if I could... This place is extremely overrated! Their food quality is like public school lunch at best. Extremely overpriced with crappy seafood and frozen fries. I went in for the first time, and it will be my last time as well. We ordered clam chowder bread bowl and Deck Hand and their food were absolutely disappointing. Deck Hand cost $25.95 that came with stale fries, ONE pathetic looking small piece of cod with hardly any batter on it, ONE prawn and ONE scallop that all over cooked. The clam chowder were THICK heavy in flour and hardly anything in it. And hot chocolate was not so great either! It tasted like hot water and chocolate syrup mixed. Total bill was nearly $50! We don't mind pay this price but their food quality and quantity are absolutely a joke! This is the WORST Fish N Chips on planet earth!

Ask the Community - Betty's Fish & Chips

Do the add "junk fees" to the bill?

My wife and I go fairly often and have not noticed any "junk fees" like an automatic tip or anything. I also recently went with a large party of 7 and did not notice an extra fee that many restaurants often apply for large groups.

Can someone post a menu or a link to one? The menu photos are many years old and I hear there's been a change in ownership. But there's no website or current photo so I have no idea how to call in an order or even if I'd want to visit!

    There is a website. Bettysfishandchips.com.

    Is it beer battered?

No. It is not. From what I understand, it's some sort of secret recipe that's been handed down through generations. But not beer.

The oysters were pristine and briny, and the martini, properly chilled and balanced, set a confident tone. The bar staff were polished, attentive, and engaging without ever being intrusive. Once seated, the experience continued seamlessly. We selected seared scallops and butterfish, complemented by a range of classic sides, baked potato, etc. The scallops were expertly executed, caramelized to a delicate crust while maintaining a tender, almost buttery interior. The butterfish lived up to its name, rich and silky, with a depth of flavor that lingered pleasantly. What stood out most was the cohesion of the dishes. The sauces, in particular, were layered and thoughtfully composed. They were so compelling that, by the end of the meal, we found ourselves savoring every last drop with bread, unwilling to leave anything behind, all while enjoying a steady cadence of well-crafted martinis. Service throughout was seamless and professional, striking the right balance between attentiveness and restraint. The atmosphere carried a lively yet refined energy, well-suited for both intimate dinners and celebratory evenings. Starks delivers a dining experience that is both polished and indulgent, one that justifies a deliberate visit rather than a casual stop.

The restaurant offers a simple, approachable menu with a little something for everyone, making it a great spot for groups with different tastes. We kicked things off with the cocktail flight sampler, which was hands-down the highlight of the experience. Not only is it a fun way to explore their drink menu, but it's also a great value--especially considering individual cocktails are $14 each. Our server was fantastic and happily swapped out a few of the flight options to better suit our table's preferences. It made the experience feel even more personalized. For food, we ordered a spread: calamari, poke, zucchini chips, and prawn tacos. While everything was presented nicely, the flavors were just okay--nothing particularly memorable. That said, the zucchini chips were probably the standout of the group, especially if you're in the mood for something crispy and light. What really made the visit enjoyable was the friendly, attentive service. The staff was warm and welcoming, offering thoughtful recommendations without being pushy. Perch + Plow is worth a visit for the drinks, the view (if you're by a window), and the relaxed, modern vibe.
