Favorite sushi in LA. I've been here several times in the afternoon and each time I've had such a great experience. It's become a Sunday tradition. Usually get the pressed tuna or salmon sushi and a couple other rolls

Perhaps it was just an off night at Seabutter, but the place was empty the night before we dined there, and the quality of the sushi wasn't what we expected given the good reviews. In addition, the service was slow and server seemed not to care about her job. The sushi just didn't have much flavor, some dishes were overwhelmed by mayo and sauces, and the tempura was heavy and oily. Given the number of great sushi spots in the area, I would likely choose somewhere else next time I go out for sushi.

Had lunch with my mom and two sons on Saturday after a shopping trip nearby. It's a small place compared to other locations. We were seated right away since it wasn't busy. Welcoming and friendly staff. Our waitress was helpful and attentive. We ordered edamame and seaweed salad and liked both. The rolls were delicious as well. I liked how they didn't have too much rice in them, you could actually taste the fish. 911 roll was our most favorite but the rest were pretty good as well. We really enjoyed our lunch here. Clean and nice location. Great customer service. Great food.

Our server was so attentive and friendly - so sad we didn't catch his name! We got the miso soup, which was one of the best miso soups I've ever had. We also got the scallop and spicy tuna crispy rice appetizers, and a negi-toro hand roll. The hand roll had a strong sesame oil flavor. For rolls, we got the crispy albacore, salmon supreme, and rainbow roll. The crispy albacore was the best roll in my opinion, and the fried onions were so yummy. My bf liked the rainbow roll the best - the crab flavor really comes out since they use real crab. Overall it was a great experience and we'll be back!

We love Seabutter and recommend this delicious sushi bar to all of our friends and family including my Yelpers! They treat their customers like family and everyone is so warm and welcoming! We love the kimedai especially lightly seared. I also love the salmon truffle sushi and the yellowtail sushi. It's excellent from the service to the sushi

This is a delicious hidden gem off Doheny and Olympic, super easy to miss if you're not looking for it! The place is never crowded, so we thought we'd give it a go one Saturday evening. Seabutter did not disappoint! I ordered a Miso Soup, House Spring Salad, and an assortment of hand rolls. My favorite was the baked scallop which was wrapped in a rice paper, the texture is tender and rich in creaminess. I also ordered the yellowtail scallion and blue crab hand rolls, which were really tasty too! Lastly, I ordered the Rainbow Roll for all of the sashimi and the Teriyaki Chicken for a bento box feel. So good! The chicken was flavorful and with tons of veggies and rice. Great for family-style sharing!

Decided to visit their location after ordering delivery a few times. They definitely have some of the best nigiri, specifically otoro nigiri, in the city. The restaurant was very dark so we sat near the window; the staff was really nice.

We ordered takeout from seabutter & it exceeded expectations. We ordered a bunch of rolls & appetizers, but the spicy tuna crispy rice & hamachi jalapeño were my favorites, the hamachi was so fresh & flavorful. Everything was packaged so neatly & the crew even sent a super cute note along with our order!

Fabulous sushi! The new head chef Ron is a master, and it was so fun to take a seat at the sushi bar and listen to his recommendations. His presentation of the dishes is perfect and each one of the daily specials I tried were mouth watering, delicious and so flavorful. Make sure to eat slowly as everything is a taste treat. Standouts were the fresh toro, snapper, uni with scallop and caviar, and the fresh salmon. Each one had its own special touch and flavor, like a dash of fresh ginger or garlic, all on the most delicious warm sushi rice. They have lots of comfortable seating in the back of the restaurant. I just love the bar because you can watch the artistry of the sushi chef in action. My favorite classics on the menu are the delectable blue crab roll and their phenomenal pressed sushi. Try the pressed toro sushi with lemon. Incredible. The server was so nice and courteous. I love the relaxed neighborhood Beverly Hills vibe here. Easy free parking in back in the courtyard. You can enter parking directly on Doheny (take a right heading south just before Olympic) or via Olympic Blvd just past Doheny heading west and take a quick right into the Olympic Square parking lot.

Tried the Dine LA menu here which was $65 per person, which is a little steep for lunch but cheaper than the regular price on the menu of $95. It came with edamame, miso soup, sashimi, nigiri, pressed sushi, and a hand roll. It was a really good sampling of their menu and glad I tried it for my first time here. Everything was tasty though the ones with truffle were too strong for me. All the fish was fresh and they even gave us some green tea ice cream at the end. Would definitely come here again.

Great affordable sushi in West Hollywood area. It's not bougie which is great and I can tell they do a lot of takeout orders. We ordered so many items that we needed to do takeaway after for the leftovers. - spicy tuna and salmon crispy rice were really big but that meant we had a hard time to pick up w chopsticks. And we're Asian. - soft shell crab was soooo good - scallop sushi and HYE were heavenly - tuna shishito roll was not bad. 4/5. I like shishito peppers but I think they could've added more ponzu to balance. - crispy albacore roll also could've had more ponzu - hamachi jalapeño again could've used more ponzu as it tasted more gamey. Parking was easy on a Sunday because there's free street parking after 6pm (across the street) and always available. Not including the green meters. Overall I may come back if I'm in the area and need a quick sushi run.

I got a delivery from here, so of course it's not as amazing as in person... but it was still SO GOOD and I will be ordering again. First, I got the Spicy Tuna Rice. It comes with 2 so I got 2 orders. 10/10 for taste! The sauces come on the side with delivery and they were the perfect amount. I'm writing this wishing I still had more left. Also, it was messy to eat and pretty big bites so keep that in mind :) Second, I got the miso soup. It comes in a soup container with extra plastic wrap for reinforcing it during delivery. I ate it second and it was still very warm and also a 10/10! The perfect amount of flavors blended together. It does come with tofu, which I don't like/eat, so I just took those few pieces out (it was easy to do) and ate the rest as usual. Lastly, I got the Spicy Salmon roll. It came kinda oily in the package, but I never expect delivery to have a beautiful presentation. I do wish it came with soy sauce or something, but I had a little sauce leftover from the Spicy Tuna Rice that I used. The whole order did come with ginger and wasabi, but no soy sauce. I didn't see a place to request it on UberEats, but now I know to look for next time. Overall, amazing taste and I will be ordering again. They also left the sweetest note on the delivery bag! Love the care and customer service :)

    Ask the Community - Seabutter

    Parking in back?

Yes, there's parking in the back. There's also street parking.

What time does lunch hour start/end?

Hello there! For the time being we are only open for dinner.

What is the happy hour special?

    Very Good!

Do they have happy hour specials?

    Yes they do! Mon-Fri 3pm-6pm

Is the sushi/ sashimi 2 pieces per or one?

    2 pieces per order

Can they replace or sub another piece of sushi in the lunch item Seabutter sushi (8 pc sushi and 1 choice of hand roll) if one of the pieces is something I am allergic to? For example, I have a shellfish allergy and cannot eat scallops?

I am certain that they would substitute for you. They are so kind and accommodating that I would venture that the answer is yes!

Is the lunch special everyday, or just M-F?

Well, they're not open for lunch on sundays.

Is there omakase? If so how much?

It's basically an off-menu ask called the "Chef's Choice": 12 pieces, $65 (for tonight anyway).

What are the soft opening hours?

Opens at 11am. Soft opening ends today. Grand opening is tomorrow at 11am

Service was well paced with the first course arriving in a few minutes followed by the main. We didn't have high expectations for the cold tofu and okra but it was delicious and the tofu soaked up the soy based sauce and was balanced by the slight crunchiness of the okra. The waffle fries were exceptional - double fried with a curry aioli sauce. The tonkatsu and ramen were also great. The tonkatsu had a light, crispy batter and the ramen was so delicious, with the addition of corn, peas, black fungus and bamboo shoots, truly comforting. The burger was a hit, too. Juicy and flavorful. The small details here didn't go unnoticed, the unique plates, nice bamboo chopsticks and cute hippo candy plate. We chose to sit in front by the open windows since it was such a nice afternoon but the dining area further inside was welcoming, too. I've also been here outside of DineLA and it's just an overall solid experience.

Update- was really looking forward to dinner at Chubby Curry. My friends and I have patronized this…read moreplace since it opened. It was our go-to place for almost two years. We hadn't been in about 6 months and decided to drop in for dinner before a movie- Wow, has it changed- and not in a good way. There were fewer staff and they were spread thin, with not even half the tables full. The place was a little unkept. The menu is all digital- so we had some questions ordering our favorites. We got the Wagu steak with rice and curry and the breaded chicken breast. When the Wagu arrived it was unrecognizable- brown and looked over cooked - no pink. The entire dish was completely unappetizing. It was sad looking. I tried to show the server that this looked nothing like the menu photos in the front wall. He was already flustered and told me "to calm down ma'am" and that is "how it comes- we put soy sauce on it." The calm down nonsense was a real put off. My next question was, why is a restaurant putting soy sauce on perfect Wagu? None of the menu photos show soy sauce. We have never had soy sauce drenched Wagu here ever. The amount of soy sauce - if any-- is up to the guest. We all have our sodium preferences, right? I personally liked their Wagu plate as is. I tried to get the server to follow me to the front wall to show him the photo of all their Wagu dishes on their front wall and he was really not happy. Those photos were how their food always looked- fresh- colorful and delicious looking. The comparison was stunningly different- he would not hear it - and was visible upset with me. Sending this back caused quite a problem- more like an argument with the server who insisted this is how Wagu comes. It does not and I posted a review previously with photos from several visits to this once fun to eat at place. They offered to remake it and I caught the server and chef's convo. Chef was bewildered with the whole no soy sauce thing. The server came back with a small piece of Wagu in a service cup to show me what their Wagu looked like before the soy sauce bath. It was not the bright fresh pink. It was gray, like it had been prepped a couple days ago and refrigerated. Completely unacceptable and not appetizing. I told them to please not remake it. It would be a waste and please Just remove it and we'd order something else. The server was so upset with me he told me he would remove everything and not charge us at all. I felt that was unfair to the restaurant and his attitude was like don't order anything, and do not come back. My guy friend insisted that we pay and the server came back with a bill for just the chicken. I gave him cash for everything we ordered including the Wagu, and he brought me almost all the money back. I was particularly insulted by this. This was such negative energy- I did not want to touch it. I left all the money on the table and left. Message to the owner- replacing servers with digital menus does not lessen their work. it increases their time explaining what dishes are and how dishes come. You need more people because servers have more work in less time. I really felt for this server and did not feel any of this was his fault. The quality drop in food, the excess work due to digital menus, and food not matching the promises made in photos at the front wall from opening day are not your server's fault. We were expecting the same consistency and were sadly disappointed. We will not be returning.

The staff was friendly, professional, and welcoming throughout the evening. There were some delays in getting a few of the dishes to the table, but the service itself was still good and the servers did their best to take care of us. The food was fresh, high quality, and definitely enjoyable. However, I'm someone who loves fine dining and high-end restaurants, so I tend to be very picky when it comes to reviews. While everything we ordered tasted very good, there wasn't a single dish that really stood out as unique or unforgettable. Nothing made me stop and think, "Wow, I've never had anything like this before." The food was delicious, but not necessarily memorable. The pricing is on the expensive side, but that's also what you would expect for a restaurant of this caliber and location, so I don't consider that a negative. Overall, we had a nice evening, enjoyed the food, and appreciated the service. I would absolutely consider coming back in the future to try more items from the menu. Maybe there are some signature dishes that we missed this time around. If a future visit impresses me a little more, I could definitely see this becoming a 5-star review. For now, it's a solid 4 stars from me.

We made reservation for a weekday dinner and got seated quick. FOOD Crispy Rice with Spicy Tuna (8.3/10): *9 with the Serrano pepper A must have for appetiser whenever I go to a sushi restaurant. Love the presentation, it's easy to eat. Fresh tuna, great rice to tuna ratio. Wish there's mini jalapeño or Serrano pepper on top for more depth. For the cold dish specials, we ordered Yellowtail Jalapeño and Toro Yuzu Miso to share: Toro Yuzu Miso (9/10): Ponzu sauce in here is so nice! Love the citrusy touch to balance out the fatty toro. Love the mini sprouts garnish that balances out everything in here. Yellowtail Jalapeño (9.2/10): Very well balanced, along with the cilantro garnish everything compliments each other so nice! Love the Serrano pepper (I transferred one onto the crispy tuna rice and that's delicious!). Fish is super fresh, melts into your mouth ^Both cold dishes are excellent but I prefer this slightly more. Nigiri (8-8.5/10): All nigiri's are pretty good, we ordered a bunch of it. Our favourite one is definitely the Akamutsu, it has the toro texture and it's not usually seen everywhere. Scallops, Blu fin toro, salmon are top tier. Ikura was good but not amazing. Lobster ceviche taco (9.5/10): MY FAVOURITE OF ALL! The lobster is so fresh, the seasoning is refreshing and citrusy. With the hard shell taco, everything just puts together so nice that we had to encore this! (I believe the lobster ceviche is off-menu, our server recommended us to substitute with lobster, good call!) DRINKS For drinks. They have an extensive sake collection, we had the Nobu sake which is pretty smooth and nice. Service is great, our server knows the menu well and gave the right recommendations. Food comes in on time and in great orders. SERVICE & AMBIENCE Love the warmth hospitality, also love the Nothing special about the interior decor, Japanese light wood ambience. It's a very cozy place to have dinner with, ambience is clean and not with loud music. Nothing instagramable, I think this is more of a food-focus place, rather than a special occasion spot. For the way how they market themselves I feel like the service or the plates could go an extra mile to make it a better experience. I've never been to Nobu, but this restaurant lives up to the standard. Recommend, might not be everyone's #1 sushi place but you won't go wrong with this place. I'm not sure if this is a place for omakase or rolls/ handroll, but their raw fish and nigiris are nice.

I would've thought if we were paying premium prices that the staff would cook for us. I hoped we cooked the meat correctly. Nonetheless, the wagyu selection was delicious. I ordered assorted vegetables but I was sad to hear that they were all out. We finished our meal with an order of tiramisu. The dessert was fine. After paying for our meal, the server asked us why we didn't tip. I thought this was highly unprofessional for Yazawa to ask this. I did not think the service reflected the high price point of the restaurant. If I will be paying top dollar for quality meat, I expect service to at least educate us on how to cook it.

This location actually had the Hirame sushi which was so exciting since we haven't been able to get it at any other locations in years since it's always sold out. The service was quick and they were kind. I will say the busier it got the less attentive they were and forgot to fill our water and ginger. Though I love sugarfish, the proximity of your table to others will always be really uncomfortable and awkward for me as people literally have to press up against your table to sit in the booth directly next to you which has always been really weird to me. But the food was great as always. It's sadly over $100 for us to get the trust me and nozawa trust me which feels pretty high but the quality of fish is always exceptional.

Service was on point. Cups were always filled, and they described each dish as it came out so we knew what we were eating. My recommendation is to get the Trust Me omakase (we got the Nozawa Trust Me) so you are able to try a bit of everything. They even offered to change a hand roll into regular rolls since they knew I was sharing some of the courses with my kids. Nice touch. The bathrooms also have both scented and unscented soaps, the latter for prior to your meal. There's a parking garage across the street which was very convenient. If you haven't tried Sugarfish before, it's definitely worth stopping by. I imagine all their locations are pretty tasty.

I was afraid that everything was going to be extremely heavy, like French cuisine can be with all the cheese and butter. But I ordered the Combo of the Lemon Butter Chicken Ramen and a side of the Miso Teri Bowl (in case the ramen would be too much for me), and I was blown away by both dishes. The Lemon Butter is NOT heavy at all. It felt light and savory, but had a depth of flavor that's hard to identify because this is a dish I have never had anywhere else before. I can see why it's the most popular item on the menu. I took the side of Miso Teri Bowl home for dinner as the ramen was filling enough. There's a hint of wasabi in the dressing they drizzle over the shredded green onions that elevate this dish from other Teriyaki Chicken bowls I've had. Just DELICIOUS. I'd come back to Tonsho just for this rice bowl. My friend got the Dan Dan Ramen which he said blew his mind. He was surprised by the lightness of the broth, which is unlike the Chinese Dan Dan which is usually made of heavy creamy sesame paste. He actually drank most of the broth, and didn't feel like he was cheating on his diet. Additionally, the design of the restaurant, from the layout to the choice of bowls and utensils reminded me of a certain 2-Michelin Star restaurant in Culver City. The service was bar none. The waitress was attentive and thoughtful, even getting us a glass of water after we had been sitting there for another hour after paying our check. We never felt rushed or pushed out. Five stars, period. Coming back for more.

BEST RAMEN I HAVE EVER HAD!…read more We dropped by this on a whim, and I'm SO glad we did. They had just opened for the day, so there was no wait to be seated and the service was good. The space is cozy, but pretty much all you need to have some amazing ramen! We started with the drunken sake crispy wings, which tasted like nothing we'd had before. They're super crispy, juicy and very tasty. For my main, I got the #9 Chashu supreme and added dumplings. SO bomb!! From the moment it arrives at your table, the aroma of truffle is just divine! The flavors are perfectly balance with just enough spice. 10/10 recommend!

I ordered the Creamy Fusion #3 with pork, and while I enjoyed it, next time I'd probably try something with a little more bold flavor. The soba noodles in the ramen were excellent fresh, smooth, and cooked nicely. Service was fast and efficient, which I appreciated. I do wish they had physical menus instead of only QR codes though. We also tried the Wagyu sando and thought it was just average compared to the ramen. Overall, it's a solid ramen spot with high quality ingredients, and I'll definitely be back to try more items on the menu.

MATU WOW. This lil…read morejoint had been on my radar for a while..at least 2 or 3 years. Finally crossed it off the list, and it was quite the joyous and memorable dining experience. I really gotta respect their dedication to red meat and the holy art of cooking a damn good steak. This place is essentially what I'm looking for in a restaurant. Basically hits on all cylinders and checks off all the critical boxes. I don't want to sound all dramatic and such, but I'm dying to go back and try all the other items I didn't have, as well as check out the bar experience. I spoke to some locals outside before they opened, and they weren't just lovely -- they also painted a pretty picture of what the overall vibe is here. It's clear a lot of people in the Beverly Hills and Hollywood Hills area love coming here very frequently. Our server, who I assumed is named Nolan because that's what's shown on the receipt, was very accommodating, kind, and easy to talk to. I think he did a fantastic job dealing with my difficult, picky gf. Haha. I can't say anything was less than stellar. The croquettes in that celery purée stuff were phenomenal. Garlic bread was seasoned and baked to perfection. The bone broth sipper was nourishing af. French fries were perhaps the best I've had in years. Broccolini was fresh, high quality, and complimented the steak very well. I'm bummed we only got to try just the ribeye when it came to the cuts, but my gf did not want to order anything under medium or medium rare that night, so that was a bummer. It's her loss! The panna cotta was the creamiest sweet treat in all of LaLa Land. This is a great place, and it's a top-tier steakhouse. SoCal sometimes lacks places of this caliber that NY, Chicago, and SF / Napa have, but this place is a very close contender to some of the top cream-of-the-crop, steak-centered restaurants in the country. Chef's kiss, Señoritos and Señoritas.
