Service is awful! Very rude staff. Placed an order for delivery through their site at 5:53 and the order was to come at 6:41. Finally got food at 8:15! Don't order if you are hungry or have someplace to be and expect the timeframe to be honored. Order was incorrect too. I feel bad writing a bad review but this has happened to us before about a year ago and with service on many occasions. We will not be giving the restaurant another chance. I've ordered delivery a few times from this place so decided to check it out for myself. It's pretty clean with a simple but comfy atmosphere. There wasn't a lot of people at the time. The customer service is so so. I frequent Japanese restaurants so I don't expect them to be overly friendly but at least cordial. It just felt too transactional and mechanical. In terms of what I had, I started with the Soft Shell Crab which was overcooked and I don't think it would have taste good either way. Then a hand roll A5 Wagyu that was tasty but the hand roll was almost flat and barely half full. Next I had the Omakase Select. The selection of sushi was fine but the portion size was less than their regular sushi. I also ordered the Hye and Emma which I had before. Both pieces were good and no complaints. Lastly, I had the Bluefin Carpaccio and the tuna just melts in your mouth. However the actual taste is so subtle that you can't properly enjoy it. I must emphasize I was disappointed with the experience. I probably will stick to delivery if I decide to order there again. read more

I have been wanting to try this place for a while now but was hesitant since it's more on the expensive side. I finally decided to treat myself to take out and I was not disappointed! The fish is so fresh, and the flavors mix so well. My favorite were the amberjack-kanpachi and the sexy albacore. The to-go packaging was great as well. The baked scallop hand roll was just ok but everything else I ordered I really enjoyed. I hate that I loved it so much because now I'll spend a fortune on my sushi coming back!! Wow wow wow!! Completely loved our Seabutter experience! We came with seasoned veterans, so I don't know half of the stuff that was ordered, but all I know is that each dish was better than the last. The name "seabutter" is fitting as most of the fish melts in your mouth like butter. And not just the sushi - the Miso Glazed Chilean Sea Bass was so good that we ordered 3 of them for our table of 7! The only con - the price tag. It's worth it for the quality that you are getting, but I can't say that this is the type of place that I would make my "usual" sushi spot. It's definitely more appropriate for special occasions, as we spent well over three figures for each person. The cherry on top - the service! The owner was there and super friendly and attentive, she even hugged us on the way out! So sweet! Pro tip: they are planning to open an Orange County location in July 2021! read more

If you're looking for a place to have a nice dinner experience I do not recommend this location. This location focuses solely on delivery orders, and will leave you waiting for your quite some time before you receive appetizers. Once your rolls are finally made, the rolls sit on the counter for a while so if you order seared salmon, expect it to be cold. The Laguna beach location is definitely a better spot to try out as the service is a definite 5star. Definitely will bare the drive down to Laguna beach next time. read more

I had been wanting to try this place for a while and it did not disappoint. The service especially was amazing, every team member made my party feel welcome and they were very attentive. Most of the rolls on the menu are your usual rolls but the dragon roll and crispy rice with lobster were by far my favorite. The dragon roll had baked salmon and spicy tuna on the inside which is unique and the lobster had a great flavor and chew. That is why we have Seabutter in our rotation with our other fave spots such as Takami, Katana and Catch, just to give an idea of our taste buds. I love their mushroom miso soup, salmon truffle the most and I love that they have guilt free options, such as the Marilyn Monroll. It's a chill vibe with good sushi and great service. It's a great place for a first date because though they play a little music, it's isn't overpowering and you can actually talk why you look at each other! Was feeling like eating sushi tonight and saw Seabutter had good reviews and the photographs of their food looked tasty. The restaurant is located on a busy street with restricted hours for street parking in front and around the surrounding residential areas. The parking lot behind the business is small but luckily we found a spot there. This was my first time here and walked into the restaurant without a reservation. We were asked if we had a reservation, seems like one is usually required. Again, we were lucky and the restaurant was completely empty. We were sat down quickly. The chefs behind the sushi bar were very friendly and welcoming, smiling and saying hello to us. The waitress and assisting staff were very attentive and friendly. We placed our order and the food came out fairly quick. We ordered Spicy Tuna on crispy rice, "Sexy Albacore", yellowtail Carpaccio, Hamachi Jalapeño, and Miso glazed Chilean Sea Bass. Every dish brought out looked amazing! The presentation was beautiful and appetizing! The first dish we tried was the spicy tuna on crispy rice. The rice was perfectly crisp and warm. The spicy tuna was some of the best I've had. The fish was fresh and flavorful. Next dish was the Yellowtail Hamachi Jalapeño. Again the fish was fresh and tasty. The jalapeños were not spicy at all. Though the Yellowtail had really good quality flavor, the dish overall lacked something. Not that it was bad, but maybe a bit of spice from the jalapeño may have given it the extra flavor I felt was lacking. Then we had the Yellowtail Carpaccio! Once more, the fish was quality, not fishy at all. But overall the dish was just ok. The mushrooms it came with were not tasty in my opinion, though my spouse enjoyed them. Like the Yellowtail Hamachi Jalapeño, the dish lacked that special something to put it over the top. Overall again, because the Yellowtail was fresh, the dish was good. We moved on to the Sexy Albacore. This was spicy tuna, with avocado, wrapped in albacore tuna, and a slice of jalapeño on top. This dish was more flavorful. The spicy tuna, combined with the avocado gave the dish texture and a great mix of spice and creaminess from the avocado. The tenderness and freshness of the albacore wrapped around these ingredients complimented them perfectly! This dish and the Spicy Tuna on crispy rice were my favorite so far. Lastly, we ordered the Miso glazed Chilean Sea Bass (no pic taken). This dish also impressed. The miso glaze was perfect and tasted amazing with the freshness of the sea bass. Really tender and flavorful fish. Overall the service was great and the staff were very helpful and attentive. The fish was very fresh, and were it not for the couple of dishes that lacked that extra "something," this place would be receiving 5 stars. The price was also reasonable for all that we ordered. Here's the run down-- This is definitely a neighborhood sushi spot. My boyfriend and I made last minute dinner plans and decided on this spot. We didn't have a reservation and the place looked moderately crowded at 7 pm and we were seated at a high top. We ordered a couple of sushi rolls and they were good the sushi was fresh and tasty but nothing insane. I don't know if we should ordered more but it is on the pricier side. We thoroughly enjoyed everything that we ordered, one of the rolls that came with cilantro was my favorite. we ordered a tempura as well, there was very one large piece of broccoli that was mildly offputting but the rest was great. Damn. WHY was this not open when I was living in Los Angeles? Seabutter is located in Beverly Hills and an oasis amongst the very high-end American restaurants in the area. It's the more affordable option with plenty of choices for every type of diet (even gluten-free... which is so LA). Here's what you need to know: 1. The fish and sushi options are incredible I loved EVERYTHING I tried here and would go back many times based on the merit of the food along. The rolls are creative and fresh. The nigiri and sashimi are wonderfully done. 2. There is ample space in this rectangular restaurant and there is a long sushi bar for the smaller parties. 3. Make a reservation if you can because it can get crowded. 4. The service varies depending on your party size. I was sitting at the bar and felt like I wasn't checked on as often... but that's okay with me. I saw that there were a handful of larger parties that the servers were focused on. 5. Cool LA vibes. It's a well-decorated restaurant that doesn't get too loud. The front and sushi bar are more casual and the tables toward the back have a more trendy feel. If you're in LA or visiting and craving sushi, I recommend Seabutter if you're on the westside. It has high-quality fish at a good price point (especially for the west side) and enough options to accommodate what you're looking for. read more

I've been following Seabutter on Instagram since they opened and the sushi was just as beautifully presented in real life. I should have trolled Instagram to order from the menu because I was so overwhelmed I didn't know what to order. I liked the fish to rice ratio, and the rice was well seasoned. There were also a lot of house sake options (both hot or cold, dry or sweet) , and it wasn't a rushed dining experience, which is hard to find with COVID-19 limitations. I liked that some of their sushi is topped with kizami wasabi (the little wasabi crunchy thing in takowasabi), which made it unique. My top dish was toro uni topped with the kizami wasabi--it just melted in my mouth!! I was disappointed by the omakase ($40), which for mine had big eye tuna, king salmon, octopus, tamago, and I don't know what else because the whole plate was uninspiring and not memorable. I should have just ordered sushi a la carte. We were also not into the pressed sushi, probably because the fish is too thin and the rice overpowers the flavors. Lastly, for the price, I would rather return to Uzumaki in Culver City. I am still eating Seabutter high because I felt safe dining indoors here, there are plenty of cooked options for kids, and it appeared the restaurant implements COVID-19 safety protocols for staff and patrons. read more
