Favorite sushi in LA. I've been here several times in the afternoon and each time I've had such a great experience. It's become a Sunday tradition. Usually get the pressed tuna or salmon sushi and a couple other rolls

Perhaps it was just an off night at Seabutter, but the place was empty the night before we dined there, and the quality of the sushi wasn't what we expected given the good reviews. In addition, the service was slow and server seemed not to care about her job. The sushi just didn't have much flavor, some dishes were overwhelmed by mayo and sauces, and the tempura was heavy and oily. Given the number of great sushi spots in the area, I would likely choose somewhere else next time I go out for sushi.

Had lunch with my mom and two sons on Saturday after a shopping trip nearby. It's a small place compared to other locations. We were seated right away since it wasn't busy. Welcoming and friendly staff. Our waitress was helpful and attentive. We ordered edamame and seaweed salad and liked both. The rolls were delicious as well. I liked how they didn't have too much rice in them, you could actually taste the fish. 911 roll was our most favorite but the rest were pretty good as well. We really enjoyed our lunch here. Clean and nice location. Great customer service. Great food.

Our server was so attentive and friendly - so sad we didn't catch his name! We got the miso soup, which was one of the best miso soups I've ever had. We also got the scallop and spicy tuna crispy rice appetizers, and a negi-toro hand roll. The hand roll had a strong sesame oil flavor. For rolls, we got the crispy albacore, salmon supreme, and rainbow roll. The crispy albacore was the best roll in my opinion, and the fried onions were so yummy. My bf liked the rainbow roll the best - the crab flavor really comes out since they use real crab. Overall it was a great experience and we'll be back!

We love Seabutter and recommend this delicious sushi bar to all of our friends and family including my Yelpers! They treat their customers like family and everyone is so warm and welcoming! We love the kimedai especially lightly seared. I also love the salmon truffle sushi and the yellowtail sushi. It's excellent from the service to the sushi

This is a delicious hidden gem off Doheny and Olympic, super easy to miss if you're not looking for it! The place is never crowded, so we thought we'd give it a go one Saturday evening. Seabutter did not disappoint! I ordered a Miso Soup, House Spring Salad, and an assortment of hand rolls. My favorite was the baked scallop which was wrapped in a rice paper, the texture is tender and rich in creaminess. I also ordered the yellowtail scallion and blue crab hand rolls, which were really tasty too! Lastly, I ordered the Rainbow Roll for all of the sashimi and the Teriyaki Chicken for a bento box feel. So good! The chicken was flavorful and with tons of veggies and rice. Great for family-style sharing!

We ordered takeout from seabutter & it exceeded expectations. We ordered a bunch of rolls & appetizers, but the spicy tuna crispy rice & hamachi jalapeño were my favorites, the hamachi was so fresh & flavorful. Everything was packaged so neatly & the crew even sent a super cute note along with our order!

Decided to visit their location after ordering delivery a few times. They definitely have some of the best nigiri, specifically otoro nigiri, in the city. The restaurant was very dark so we sat near the window; the staff was really nice.

Fabulous sushi! The new head chef Ron is a master, and it was so fun to take a seat at the sushi bar and listen to his recommendations. His presentation of the dishes is perfect and each one of the daily specials I tried were mouth watering, delicious and so flavorful. Make sure to eat slowly as everything is a taste treat. Standouts were the fresh toro, snapper, uni with scallop and caviar, and the fresh salmon. Each one had its own special touch and flavor, like a dash of fresh ginger or garlic, all on the most delicious warm sushi rice. They have lots of comfortable seating in the back of the restaurant. I just love the bar because you can watch the artistry of the sushi chef in action. My favorite classics on the menu are the delectable blue crab roll and their phenomenal pressed sushi. Try the pressed toro sushi with lemon. Incredible. The server was so nice and courteous. I love the relaxed neighborhood Beverly Hills vibe here. Easy free parking in back in the courtyard. You can enter parking directly on Doheny (take a right heading south just before Olympic) or via Olympic Blvd just past Doheny heading west and take a quick right into the Olympic Square parking lot.

Tried the Dine LA menu here which was $65 per person, which is a little steep for lunch but cheaper than the regular price on the menu of $95. It came with edamame, miso soup, sashimi, nigiri, pressed sushi, and a hand roll. It was a really good sampling of their menu and glad I tried it for my first time here. Everything was tasty though the ones with truffle were too strong for me. All the fish was fresh and they even gave us some green tea ice cream at the end. Would definitely come here again.

Great affordable sushi in West Hollywood area. It's not bougie which is great and I can tell they do a lot of takeout orders. We ordered so many items that we needed to do takeaway after for the leftovers. - spicy tuna and salmon crispy rice were really big but that meant we had a hard time to pick up w chopsticks. And we're Asian. - soft shell crab was soooo good - scallop sushi and HYE were heavenly - tuna shishito roll was not bad. 4/5. I like shishito peppers but I think they could've added more ponzu to balance. - crispy albacore roll also could've had more ponzu - hamachi jalapeño again could've used more ponzu as it tasted more gamey. Parking was easy on a Sunday because there's free street parking after 6pm (across the street) and always available. Not including the green meters. Overall I may come back if I'm in the area and need a quick sushi run.

I got a delivery from here, so of course it's not as amazing as in person... but it was still SO GOOD and I will be ordering again. First, I got the Spicy Tuna Rice. It comes with 2 so I got 2 orders. 10/10 for taste! The sauces come on the side with delivery and they were the perfect amount. I'm writing this wishing I still had more left. Also, it was messy to eat and pretty big bites so keep that in mind :) Second, I got the miso soup. It comes in a soup container with extra plastic wrap for reinforcing it during delivery. I ate it second and it was still very warm and also a 10/10! The perfect amount of flavors blended together. It does come with tofu, which I don't like/eat, so I just took those few pieces out (it was easy to do) and ate the rest as usual. Lastly, I got the Spicy Salmon roll. It came kinda oily in the package, but I never expect delivery to have a beautiful presentation. I do wish it came with soy sauce or something, but I had a little sauce leftover from the Spicy Tuna Rice that I used. The whole order did come with ginger and wasabi, but no soy sauce. I didn't see a place to request it on UberEats, but now I know to look for next time. Overall, amazing taste and I will be ordering again. They also left the sweetest note on the delivery bag! Love the care and customer service :)

Nothing but good things to say about Seabutter! There is plenty of table and bar seating inside so the wait is never too long, even during peak meal times. The menu is extensive, so it's easy to find something for everyone in your party. They have some pretty unique rolls/pressed sushi that I haven't seen anywhere else! I usually get the Sizzling Black Cod, Sunset Roll, Salmon Supreme, and Salmon Medley (Salmon, King Salmon, Truffle Salmon). The fish is always fresh and the portions and presentation are consistent. Parking in back?

Yes, there's parking in the back. There's also street parking.

What time does lunch hour start/end?

Hello there! For the time being we are only open for dinner.

What is the happy hour special?

    Very Good!

Do they have happy hour specials?

    Yes they do! Mon-Fri 3pm-6pm

Is the sushi/ sashimi 2 pieces per or one?

    2 pieces per order

Can they replace or sub another piece of sushi in the lunch item Seabutter sushi (8 pc sushi and 1 choice of hand roll) if one of the pieces is something I am allergic to? For example, I have a shellfish allergy and cannot eat scallops?

I am certain that they would substitute for you. They are so kind and accommodating that I would venture that the answer is yes!

Is the lunch special everyday, or just M-F?

Well, they're not open for lunch on sundays.

Is there omakase? If so how much?

It's basically an off-menu ask called the "Chef's Choice": 12 pieces, $65 (for tonight anyway).

What are the soft opening hours?

Opens at 11am. Soft opening ends today. Grand opening is tomorrow at 11am

The staff was friendly, professional, and welcoming throughout the evening. There were some delays in getting a few of the dishes to the table, but the service itself was still good and the servers did their best to take care of us. The food was fresh, high quality, and definitely enjoyable. However, I'm someone who loves fine dining and high-end restaurants, so I tend to be very picky when it comes to reviews. While everything we ordered tasted very good, there wasn't a single dish that really stood out as unique or unforgettable. Nothing made me stop and think, "Wow, I've never had anything like this before." The food was delicious, but not necessarily memorable. The pricing is on the expensive side, but that's also what you would expect for a restaurant of this caliber and location, so I don't consider that a negative. Overall, we had a nice evening, enjoyed the food, and appreciated the service. I would absolutely consider coming back in the future to try more items from the menu. Maybe there are some signature dishes that we missed this time around. If a future visit impresses me a little more, I could definitely see this becoming a 5-star review. We were in the area for my son's doctor's appointment and discovered this place nearby. What a bonus! If you're anywhere close, it's absolutely worth a visit. The sushi here is next-level. You can immediately taste the quality of the ingredients--the freshness of the rice, the fish, and the attention to detail in every bite. I started with salmon and tuna nigiri, plus a salmon roll that was cut into small bite-sized pieces. Honestly, I was popping them into my mouth like candy. Everything was incredibly fresh and delicious. They also have a great selection of hot foods. Right when you walk in, you're greeted by freshly prepared unagi (eel), which looked amazing. They also offer katsu, and other ready-to-eat items. I grabbed a Spam musubi, and wow--it may be the best Spam musubi I've ever had, even better than some I've had in Hawaii. The Spam still had a slight crispiness, the egg added richness, and the seasoning brought everything together with an incredible umami flavor. What I love most is that the place reminds me of a Japanese convenience store (konbini)--but an upscale version. It's like Tsukigi market had a store in Ginza. You can buy fresh seafood, ingredients to make your own sushi at home, or simply grab a meal and enjoy it there. The quality throughout the store is outstanding. The atmosphere is great too. There's always a buzz of people shopping for sushi or enjoying their food outside in the seating area. It feels lively and authentic. One suggestion: try to get there early if you can. They had so many ready-made sushi trays, rolls, nigiri, and prepared foods available, but a lot of them were already nearly sold out by the time I got there. I noticed a sign saying items are made fresh regularly throughout the day, which is a great sign of how popular and fresh everything is. Still, if you want first pick of all the goodies, I'd recommend arriving earlier. My only real complaint is the parking. The lot is small, and during busy times you'll probably need some patience. I visited on a weekday during rush hour, but once I got my food, it was completely worth it. The drive back to Simi Valley flew by because I couldn't stop eating and thinking about how good everything was. I honestly can't wait to find another excuse to come back. This place is such a treat. Eventually, a lovely girl finally came to my aid as I awkwardly stood there to find this manager, and she made the worthwhile effort to do that. The initial idiot made a quip, "Oh there he is", and I shook my head. It should also be said that the manger isn't exactly a brain surgeon either. They hire privileged idiots with no mind for common sense for the front and regular idiots managing these places. Their sushi and other dishes also looked cheap showcased under their plexiglass. You get to experience a wide variety of fish and some which you may have not had before! Several favorites of mine throughout the whole meal were the monkfish liver, tamago, & scallop! I would recommend coming to Yasu for any special occasion and you will get to eat some amazing sushi here. The overall ambience was fancy but also welcoming and comfortable. It's more suited for smaller groups so I recommend your max party size be around 3-4 people. The pricing for the 17 course omakase menu we had was quite reasonable with picing at $195 per person with + 18% service fee and after tax it came out to be around $250 per person! The value and service you get here is phenomenal and it's one of the better priced options for omakase in LA.

Been a sugarfish fan for years and finally got to try another location. This one is small and…read moreintimate per usual. We came for an early dinner and beat the crowd which was great. This location actually had the Hirame sushi which was so exciting since we haven't been able to get it at any other locations in years since it's always sold out. The service was quick and they were kind. I will say the busier it got the less attentive they were and forgot to fill our water and ginger. Though I love sugarfish, the proximity of your table to others will always be really uncomfortable and awkward for me as people literally have to press up against your table to sit in the booth directly next to you which has always been really weird to me. But the food was great as always. It's sadly over $100 for us to get the trust me and nozawa trust me which feels pretty high but the quality of fish is always exceptional.

Service was on point. Cups were always filled, and they described each dish as it came out so we knew what we were eating. My recommendation is to get the Trust Me omakase (we got the Nozawa Trust Me) so you are able to try a bit of everything. They even offered to change a hand roll into regular rolls since they knew I was sharing some of the courses with my kids. Nice touch. The bathrooms also have both scented and unscented soaps, the latter for prior to your meal. There's a parking garage across the street which was very convenient. If you haven't tried Sugarfish before, it's definitely worth stopping by. I imagine all their locations are pretty tasty.

NOTE: Dined in on 10/27/24…read more Definitely want to write a couple of reviews before the end of the year to shine some light on restaurants that really need some more love here on Yelp. Rockpool sounds a little generic for a sushi spot, but the quality of the fish is quite delicious for the value. In particular, the lunch omakase is probably amongst the best sushi deals I've had for a sitdown spot. I'd definitely take it into consideration over let's say... Sugarfish. People often talk about how "fresh" fish tastes at sushi restaurants, but I feel like the best raw fish is often aged to an extent. The taste of the fish here is good, but I don't feel that they always use the best cuts. For example, the otoro was tasty, but it was not as marbled as I'm used to seeing. That said, another critically important and often overlooked component of sushi, particularly in handrolls and nigiri, is the rice. The rice here is delicately warm, pairs well with the fish, and has a pleasant, slightly sweet and vinegary taste. Simply delightful. The miso soup was also quite delicious, with a hearty, deep, set of flavors in the soup stock, and the scallop hand roll here was so good, I forgot to take a photo before devouring it haha. The lunch special should be enough food for most folks, but you're always welcome to add additional items to it! Now, is it good enough for me to try the more expensive dinner courses? Debatable, but it might be... just barely! The value proposition is hard to ignore, though. It's certainly one of the best deals you'll find on the Westside.

My friend and I felt like we were getting the freshest cut you can for the price. Some even more fresh than others. It was very quiet during the Saturday we went, which gave us a lot of privacy to chat over delicious fish. With the excellent customer service and engaging staff, you bet we will be back for their other omakase options.
