Sea Grass is one of my favorite places. The Harvest salad is a winner. It's big so it's good to share. I usually get the Halibut with lobster Risotto, but everything is excellent. The lobster sandwich is out of this world. The service people are all so nice. I highly recommend Sea Grass. The food is always excellent!!! read more

Surprised a friend for a milestone birthday with a trip out of the city to Ocean Grove. She'd never been and the boardwalk sunset was perfect, the Victorians, so much fun to see at dusk, and the food at Sea Grass lived up to and exceeded the rave reviews. We had the calamari, cod, & scallops and the lava cake for birthday dessert. The wait staff were kind, friendly and fun. It was the perfect evening. read more

Sea Grass is one of our favorite restaurants in Ocean Grove. We were there Saturday night. They don't take reservations, so get there early and put your name on the list. They said it would be about a 40 minute wait but to come back after 25 minutes or so. We looked in some shops and returned to be seated after about a half-hour. It's BYOB (Ocean Grove is a dry town). We were seated inside near the front with the beautiful aquarium behind our table. We ordered a New England Clam Chowdah and a dinner salad. The chowder was creamy and full of clams. The salad was large and fresh. For entrees, I had the seafood pasta, which was HUGE, and had a lot of seafood (2 large, seared scallops, 4 huge butterflied shrimp, chunks of lobster, a bunch of mussels in their shells) over orecchiette pasta with NJ tomato basil sauce. WOW--it was fabulous. My husband had the crab cakes, which were good, but the seafood pasta was a better choice. For dessert, we split a piece of key lime pie which was creamy with a graham cracker crust. We were not disappointed, and you won't be either. We will be back. read more

Words cannot even describe the experience we had here at Sea Grass. From the minute we stepped into the restaurant greeted by the warm friendly hostess to the impeccable food , service and phenomenal waitress Shannon, we left clicking our heels ! Fresh and delicious!! Thx yelpers! We've been trying to eat here for months but the no reservations combined with a popular place made it challenging until today a rainy Labor Day weekend. Our party of five tried the: coconut shrimp seafood pasta halibut baked cod and for the child in our group: chicken rice soup and grilled cheese w fries. Everything was truly plentiful, FRESH, and wonderful but the standouts were the seafood pasta and halibut. The baked cod/lobster was amazingly portioned and good but was a bit bland. Son gobble up the soup and grilled cheese and fries. Linda was great in helping to get us seated and Christina our server fantastic. Glad we had the chance to try this place and can't wait to return! My cousins and I had a wonderful meal at Sea Grass. I had the seafood pasta which was delicious! The serving was plentiful and chock full of lobster, prawns, mussels and scallops. I can't imagine how they make a profit on this dish given how reasonably priced it was. I had a side garden salad which also was delicious and full of interesting ingredients not normally found in a side salad like dried cranberries, thinly sliced apple, edamame served over fresh greens and with a terrific lemon vinaigrette. Remember to bring your wine with you if that's an important component to a fancy meal. Our server was pleasant, attentive and skilled at opening our champagne, a real plus. Visited Sea Grass from s referral and after reading yelp reviews. Glad I did as it was very good! Pleasant staff, nice atmosphere, good selection of sea food and BYOB to top it off! The portions are very ample in size as the prices reflect the size of the meal plus no alcohol served dents the wallet a bit but worth it! We started with the Calamari which was perfectly done; lightly fried and lots of calamari which was served with a tasty balsamic sweet vinegar dipping sauce rather than marinara. Delicious! My spouse had the ahi rare tuna which was fantastic and I had the encrusted halibut on lobster risotto which was huge, tasty, filled with lobster chunks and wonderful. I highly recommend this entree. We brought our own wine and were too full to have dessert! You won't be disappointed at Sea Grass! (Not sure how anyone can give them anything below 4 stars!) read more

Wonderful BYOB focused on seafood with consistently great food. The service is always professional and very upbeat. Truly superior restaurant for dinner. Have always sat outside and is a pleasant sidewalk setting. No reservations, but never found wait to be an issue. All the food is good. Cheese dip is good and fun. Halibut is always superb. Always a nice list of specials. Not a huge menu, but more than adequate. Whether you just want an entree or a more comprehensive meal, you will be glad you came to Seagrass. We had our second awful lunch today at Sea Grass. The service was terrible, we had to hunt down our server twice to ask for ice tea and we were told she was not our server ( she definitely was). We waited for 20 minutes for an inedible turkey sandwich. When I complained about the sandwich, I was told by the server she had never had anyone complain before. We will never return. read more

Great environment when sitting outside etc. However.....disappointing on basics eg the oil wasnt hot enough to get crispy fish and fries......eg you end up with both being soggy. Great place in Ocean Grove. I had the salmon and my boyfriend had the lobster BLT sandwich, the food was excellent! Everything was fresh and cooked perfectly. The atmosphere was laid back and it's BYOB, which is great Bc we were each able to bring our favorite drinks. read more

Food was decent. Service could have been a little better. We asked why the air conditioning was off and we were told it was on. It was incredibly hot and I do not enjoy sweating during my meal (see the photos of our sweating water glasses). When we asked about it, we were told that the restaurant was not properly insulated. Would recommend providing patrons with a suitable atmosphere for the type of restaurant that this place strives to be. read more

Spent the afternoon in Ocean Grove and stopped here for lunch. You can order from the lunch or dinner menu. The menus have something for everyone. We had the cod dinner and the seafood pasta dish, both were really good. The bread was 3.00 which was fine but it wasn't even offered, who eats this delicious pasta dish without bread? The bread was excellent, way worth the money so SeaGrass make sure to let customers know they can order bread, it's great!!! After lunch we were full but couldn't pass up the in house made carrot cake which came out warm and was excellent as well. Very pleasant visit to SeaGrass! Go give it a try! read more

Very pleasant lunch! Southwestern chicken soup on a very cold day, with a little spice warmed us up quickly. GF no problem as they had many options. The Cobb salad and dressing were very good and generous portions. Caramelized onions on the salad gave the Cob salad a delightful twist. I spent the day on the beach in Ocean Grove and decided to try a restaurant that was recommended to me by my friend. The Sea Grass Restaurant located on Main Street in Ocean Grove is a trendy yet comfortable place to enjoy a nice salad , lunch or dinner. FYI: OCEAN GROVE IS A DRY TOWN SO IF U WANT ALCOHOL U CAN BRING IT IN... The restaurant will give you glasses and chill it... The other nice thing is if you have a Gluten problem there are dishes marked with an Asterisk to choose from. When you walk up the hostess greets you outside. They don't take reservations so come early or you will have a wait... They have seating indoors or out. They also have live acoustical music that plays until 9p. Because it was such a hot day we decided to eat inside. The main dining room is modern and simplistic. As soon as you walk thru the front door there is a large fish tank filled with some tropical fish. The room is a muted grey, and on the walls framed are pictures of different tropical fish. This place is casual but neat....., There were five of us so we had a nice large table. The service was pretty good. Our waitress started off pleasant but ended up with an attitude.... Patience is a Virtue!! That's why I will not give them 5 stars! The menu consisted of interesting appetizers such as; Hot Cheese Dip with Smoked Gouda and Aged Cheddar. They make their own potato chips to accompany it. It was creamy and gooey and the homemade potato chips gave it a nice twist. The other interesting appetizer is the Day Boat Sea Scallops served over Oyster Mushrooms with a balsamic glaze. I opted for the Harvest Salad. Mixed Field Greens, Gorgonzola Cheese, Candied Walnuts, Craisins,Crispy Apples dressed with the Raspberry Vinaigrette. My salad was delicious and the company of the nuts and craisins, with the tart apples ,gorgonzola cheese,and sweet raspberry vinaigrette worked well together. The menu has a nice selection of fish, poultry, pasta , some pork, and beef. They do have a specials menu. On Mondays they run a 1/2 price discount on their meals. I chose the Crispy Long Island Half Duck served with a Raspberry, Mango Glaze sautéed Kale, and a Mashed Root Vegetable. My duck was cooked perfectly. It was crispy and the Raspberry, Mango Glaze added a nice sweet touch.The sautéed Kale along with the Root Mashed Vegetable made each bite taste like a symphony in my mouth. My friend ordered the Seared Jumbo Day Scallops over Pea, Tomato, Edamame Risotto. She is Gulten free and this meal was perfect. The scallops had a nice crust on them , and the risotto was creamy and well balanced. My other friend ordered The Florida Mahi Mahi served over Jasmine Rice with a Red Coconut Curry Cream with hints of cilantro and lemon grass. Her Mahi Mahi also had a nice sear on the crust .She enjoyed it so much there wasn't a drop left. My daughter ordered The Tuxedo Crusted Ahi Tuna. It was cooked perfectly rare and sliced over mashed Red Bliss Potatoes with Snow Peas and Seaweed Slaw. On top was a Ginger, Soy Glaze with Wasabi Cream. The Ahi was so tender and the Wasabi Cream gave it a little bite... Our other friend ordered The New England Clam Chowdah . It was thick and loaded with clams and potatoes . It was very rich and comforting...... The menu is moderately priced. The average dinner ranges from $20 up to $32 per dish. I must say everything was very fresh and delicious! The only draw back is you have to find parking on the street and because there are other food places be prepared to walk..... This place is worth it..... I highly recommend this restaurant and I can't wait to return....... read more

loved this place! Came here after a day at the shore and it was the perfect ending to our day. Our party of six was promptly seated and well served from the get go. All the entrees we ordered were great! I had to get the seafood pasta ($30) it was soo good. The sauce is a delicate tomato cream and pesto sauce, out of this world. The amount of seafood on it was amazing too and so fresh. It had 2 big scallops, 4 very large shrimp, plenty of mussels and lobster. I also highly recommend the scallops and risotto, the cod was amazing as was the coconut shrimp app and the New England Clam Chowder. The prices are high but more than worth it. It also helps that you can BYOB. Im sure this place will now become a staple of my Ocean Grove day tripa. read more

Seagrass is great. When we started coming to Ocean Grove two or three years ago, we checked it out regularly. I walked in the first time and was pleasantly surprised by the chill modern ambiance. Service was still very friendly and the food was top notch. I've always found it to be varied yet reliable. Now we try to go on a week night to avoid the crowds. Can be a long wait for a table, especially on weekends. We went once this year. I think we've discovered how close all the dining is in Asbury Park. But we will always return to Seagrass. Five patrons and five amazing meals. Spaced tables was comfortable and masked employees. Great ambiance and delicious smells upon entering. Excellent variety of entrees. My only hang up was a slightly impatient waitress and difficultly in communicating with her. Mask aside it was a struggle ordering the cooking preference of my Ahi Tuna.
