Ok so I just moved to Asbury Park, and I've been exploring all nearby restaurants. Not only is the area cute, the restaurant is as well. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and gives you the "Ocean" vibe. We ordered the mussels for an appetizer and swordfish for my entree. The fish was so fresh and delicious. Recently went for dinner, French onion soup was great, as well as the New England Clam chowder. We both had entree's from the specials, monk fish and salmon, both were prepared very well and hot, wonderful flavor's. The service was very attentive and not over bearing, our server was very pleasant. The only negative thing that I would address is the amount of personal conversations and volume from the servers having around the hostess station, at some points it was louder than all the guests in the restaurant. This should not deter you from going to this restaurant, it was very good. I would suggest having some dinner music playing in the background to enhance the dining experience. read more

Last night was my second visit to sea grass. I usually don't write reviews especially bad ones; in this moment it can hurt businesses that are already struggling, although when it's really good yelpers should know it. This was really good! This is a busy place, if you want to avoid lines and waiting time, instead of complaining pick less busier hours. The staff was very polite and nice, and our meals were absolutely delicious. Oysters were really fresh, I'm usually very picky about that. Coconut shrimps, crab cakes and my favorite sesame crusted tuna with wasabi mash were all excellent. The atmosphere was very pleasant and made for an evening without any anxiety in this current climate. Remember if you want to drink alcohol bring your own and they're super accommodating. read more

OCEAN GROVE: walking around the town and flea market really builds up an appetite, so we stopped by SeaGrass Ocean Grove for lunch. There are a lot of outdoor dog friendly tables with views of the hustle and bustle of Main Ave. The staff is so friendly and loves dogs (ask for a dog bowl for water)! They are open 7 days a week, but call ahead to make sure their outdoor tables are still available due to the changing seasons. Plenty of seafood on the menu, but something for everyone! read more

This is apparently a very popular restaurant in Ocean Grove that friends suggested we go to. I've never heard of it before yet we joined them for dinner. This being a seafood oriented place, it fit the bill for us, and they do have some meat options. The ambiance is nice with an ocean theme including a large salt water fish tank. We had no reservations but were able to be seated with no problem around 6 pm. The place got pretty loud as it filled up. Despite the tall ceilings it was a chore to be heard at the same table. We all ordered appys which went around the table. The calamari was excellent, as were the mussels. My wife and I split a spinach salad with nuts and grapes and that too was wonderful. I ordered the pan seared red snapper topped with shrimp, roasted potatoes, and asparagus. I was disappointed with my entrée. The fish was fresh and done medium rare as I like it but the snapper and the shrimp were practically tasteless. I suppose I should have tried something else because everyone but I raved about their dinner. Service was great, byob, and certainly worth a return trip. read more

Very nice little place in Ocean Grove that I never noticed until our friends took us there. The décor is calming with a large & quite lovely salt water fish tank. Staff was quite friendly & welcoming. My husband & I shared delicious salad served with spinach, pistachios, grapes, & topped with goat cheese. The table shared orders of mussels & calamari which were also very tasty. For dinner I opted for the herb encrusted halibut over the lobster risotto. Dinner came out nice & hot & was quite good. I would say the prices are a bit high but the food is worth it. It is a relatively small place so I recommend you go in the 'off' season or expect a wait, & you still may experience a wait then. We did not have reservations so I'm not sure if they take them or not. Sea Grass is a BYOB restaurant. Highly recommend & will return. read more

Stopped at Sea Grass after a day at the beach. My friend and I were so happy that we did! We ordered the coconut shrimp and the crispy fried calamari to start. Both were very good, the coconut shrimp were large and came with a delicious raspberry dipping sauce. So yummy! For our entrees, my friend and I both ordered the crispy herb-crusted Alaskan halibut. It came with lobster risotto, beurre blanc, citrus arugula. The lobster risotto had large chunks of delicious lobster. They didn't skimp! It paired beautifully with the Halibut. Our waitress was fabulous! She made great recommendations, was friendly and attentive, but not too attentive. Needless to say, Sea Grass is my new favorite place to eat when at the shore! read more

Took a ride out to ocean grove and found this lovely place. It's very nice place. Seating inside and out. We had the calamari salad to split, that was different but ,very tasty. I must say it was a hit. We waited quiet a while for our food and our lovely waitress gave us a free bowl of chowder. Which was also very tasty big chucks of clam and potatoes. When our food arrived Basi order the lobster roll blt I had ordered the crab cakes. The lobster roll was excellent. But I took the crab cakes to go because I was full from bread,salad,chowder and the lobster blt. So I can't review on them since it's not right when I ordered it. I will be back. And I recommend it. Seagrass is a neighborhood gem popular with locals and vacationers. It's a BYOB and there's a liquor store right down the street. The restaurant doesn't take reservations so there's usually a bit of a wait. The seafood here is phenomenal with a special nod to the baked east coast codfish. The menu is full of great seafood items and the waitstaff is personable, responsive, and helpful. The owner, who I met as I gave my name on the wait list for a table, was friendly, focused and intent upon seating those who chose to wait for a lovely evening of dining. I was impressed with the way she manages the restaurant and follows up with her guests to ensure a relaxed and pleasant experience. Although the list was long for 2, she made sure to walk up and down the street calling out names for different tables to honor her list. We had the prefix special $30.00 Soup or salad, Entree, and dessert. i had the grilled Ahi tuna which was delicious. My wife had prime rib rare just the way she likes it. She let me try some, it was very good. My only complaint is if you want bread it cost you an extra $3.00 and there was nothing special about the bread. plenty of entries on the main menu pastas, seafoods, crispy duck, and steaks. Place is good but overrated. Had sandy clams that ruined my whole meal. And when I say sandy... globs of black sand in them. Never have I ever seen anything like that. I NEVER send back a meal - even when it's wrong or missing something. But I had to... It was inedible. And when we brought it up... they only said "oh, that sometimes happens." No... This was a pool of black sand in multiple clams which also ran into my beautifully cooked seabass. I couldn't believe it. I as I walk away from the restaurant I am still trying to get sand out of my teeth with my stomach growling. Otherwise, my mom had a Lobster BLT which she said was delicious, and my boyfriend had the mahi mahi which was also great. If you want to come here, be sure to order anything but the clams. No reservations in this local space but we were fortunate to come in on the off season and experience very little wait times. Friendly atmosphere and staff. Had a very negative experience that included everything from hospitality, to food, to how the local community handled COVID. We were quoted a 45 minute wait which was actually more than 2 hours. Had we known we would have left... but we kept thinking surely it will only be a few more minutes. When you've put in so much time it's so hard to give up. We checked with the hostess regularly who showed us her list and what position we were in. When we spotted a group walk up and immediately get seated, we were suspicious and approached her. She scribbled their name at the top of the list and pretended they had been waiting - a lie! The group profusely thanked her over and over again, considering the huge favor she did them. Sadly, the vast majority of people waiting to sit (there was a crowd) were not wearing masks and it was difficult to socially distance. When we sat, there was sand in three different dishes in both the muscles and the scallops. The muscles had to be sent back. The scallops were only seared on one side and served with risotto that was drastically overcooked, dry, and unseasoned. All around I would not recommend this restaurant for any reason. read more

A little slice of heaven in Gods Square Mile For those of you familiar with Ocean Grove you know that aside from Breakfast sandwiches there is not a lot of offerings in this quaint seaside town Sea Grass fills the void We try to go early on Sunday afternoons as they do not take reservations & gets busy fast The Chef always has great fresh specials & you will never go wrong with their seafood dishes Halibut Salmon & the Jumbo seared scallops wrapped in bacon over a bed of fresh steamed garlic spinach is one of the best around Cooked to perfection. Normally on the appetizers special menu but when not we always ask & they will accommodate if they can The Duck never disappoints either Occasionally have the Roasted Prime Rib with a killer garden salad or soup & starch I think a lot of the fresh herbs & trimmings come out of their garden on the property. Usually finish off with the crème bule which could be creamer & def needs a torch on it but we always polish it off Hands down Best spot in town I'm sure it gets craze busy in summer but it's been a great quiet & welcoming experience all winter BYOB read more

This place is very quaint. My friends and I visited this place because she was craving seafood, unfortunately because of Covid-19 the menu changed completely which was a plot twist. I order a chicken cesar salad with fries! The fries were definitely homemade which is always a great touch to have. Our waiter Christina was super friendly. Not sure if I could recommend this for others as it seems the menu changes rapidly but I do think if you are in the area this is a place you will enjoy! read more
