We had white corn and crab soup, which had a lovely creamy texture and wonderful unique flavor, which I could not identify. We had grilled octopus salad with grilled zucchini. The warm zucchini was a pleasant surprise in a salad and the octopus was tender. Finally, we had the crab crusted seared halibu. The seared crab gave the beautifully cooked halibut a pleasantly surprising texture. The halibut was on a roasted red pepper coulomb or sauce, which added to its uniqueness. The service was excellent. If I had any criticism, the black paint on the ceiling made the restaurant dark. I think a little Mozart divertimento could add some class to the music background. My wife ordered a tuna tartare (appetizer) as her lunch, whereas I had the pulled pork sandwich. Our meals were served very timely. My sandwich came with fries and was good-sized. On the other hand, and the reason I'm giving only 3 stars was - the portion size of tuna, considering the price (at $22 it was one of the most expensive items on the menu) was very underwhelming. The marinara sauce was watery and tomato-y. Almost as if from a can. Underwhelming. My pork chop was ordered medium rare. The waitress came back to confirm "medium rare or just medium". And I confirmed MR. It was at best medium/well, more to the chewy well done end of the scale. And the Cajun spices were practically non-existent. After our order was put on our table, the server came out with a plate of hush puppies. We didn't order them, but she came back later and told us it was supposed to be plated with my pork chop. Pasta was cooked al dente, and the red sauce was very flavorful and gave a little bit of kick from the spiciness. If you are sensitive to spice this may not be the option for you, although I didn't think this was overwhelmingly spicy but instead, just the right amount of spice. Great experience at Sea Salt! We went for a girls brunch and everything from the service to the food was great. Best dinner we've had during our trip to Cape May, hands down. One of the nicer places by the beach. The menu is a nice change from a lot of the places nearby - very creative, light and summery, beautifully presented. We made a reservation just in case, but since it was during the off season we realized it wasn't really necessary once we arrived. We each had a drink, appetizer, and entree and it was the perfect amount of food. For appetizers we had the salmon tartare and the octopus, and for entrees the scallops and the halibut. So, overall, the food was mainly ok although some was bland and nothing was at all creative enough to justify the prices in my opinion. I entertain clients for my job and frequent restaurants all over the country. Although this doesn't make me a critic by any means, I wouldn't take my clients to this establishment. First, there were no flies. None. Maybe the prior reviewers were seated outside, maybe they had rolled up the patio doors. If you're outdoors, you have to deal with nature. It's on Beach Ave. My meal was great. Cape May Salts, excellent. I'll ask for some extra horseradish for the cocktail sauce next time, that's a personal preference. And the Ribeye was one of the best I've ever had. Nicely charred, but still very much rare, which is what I ordered. I actually prefer medium rare, but I usually err to the rarer side, versus it coming out medium. The cut was absolutely phenomenal, which isn't always the case with a Ribeye, outside of high end steakhouses. Will be hard to top the next time. I don't think my family's choice were quite as good, especially the grilled octopus. They were happy, but not raving as I was. That, plus just a LITTLE bit of slowness with the pacing is why I didn't give it five stars. And it really was the busboys that were the issue. Bring the water and bread right away! Let people have something in their bellies! They become infinitely more patient. Decor was upscale, without being pretentious. And the outdoor seating is more cas. We'll be back.
