First, there were no flies. None. Maybe the prior reviewers were seated outside, maybe they had rolled up the patio doors. If you're outdoors, you have to deal with nature. It's on Beach Ave. My meal was great. Cape May Salts, excellent. I'll ask for some extra horseradish for the cocktail sauce next time, that's a personal preference. And the Ribeye was one of the best I've ever had. Nicely charred, but still very much rare, which is what I ordered. I actually prefer medium rare, but I usually err to the rarer side, versus it coming out medium. The cut was absolutely phenomenal, which isn't always the case with a Ribeye, outside of high end steakhouses. Will be hard to top the next time. I don't think my family's choice were quite as good, especially the grilled octopus. They were happy, but not raving as I was. That, plus just a LITTLE bit of slowness with the pacing is why I didn't give it five stars. And it really was the busboys that were the issue. Bring the water and bread right away! Let people have something in their bellies! They become infinitely more patient. Decor was upscale, without being pretentious. And the outdoor seating is more cas. We'll be back. Great ambiance and fresh food! We were on vacation this week and ate breakfast there twice and dinner once. Each time was perfect. I've added photos of some of the things we started with. My favorite starter is the mini crab cakes. The seafood is very fresh and the service was excellent. They have plenty of options on the menu for breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert. My wife and I stayed there at the hotel last week for our anniversary and went to the SeaSalt for drinks. Amazing and inventive. I don't recall the name of the drink I had (it had cucumber juice as one of the ingredients). It was so tasty. I had two. We didn't have dinner there, but did have snacks later on and the following morning, breakfast. I'm a connoisseur of Eggs Benedict, having tried them all over (the best being the now gone - sadly - Little Pete's in Center City Philly. SeaSalt's Benedict came in a close 2nd! Not too shabby guys! This place missed the mark in so many ways. We walked in to an empty restaurant and the hostess (who I later gathered was the manager), was very unfriendly. We should have run in the other direction then. Our food came out cooked completely the wrong way, underdone, overdone, you name it. No one really checked on us. We had to send back several things as they were really inedible. The manager apologized and i really assumed we would receive some kind of compensation (say, remove the potatoes that came completely undercooked and by the time they were served we were getting the check?), but instead we were mistakenly charged extra for something that was listed as coming with a kids meal. When told the waitress at first she thought I was joking until I said I have had better at Longhorn Steakhouse. Then she knew I was serious. Misses by a mile. New upscale restaurant located in trendy ocean club hotel on the beach at cape may. Ambience and bar quite good but that's all she wrote. The wait staff was unattentive the prices way too high for what came out on the plate and the food mediocre at best. I don't ever mind paying $29 or even more for an entree; but for my $29 bucks give me more on my plate than 5 medium sized scallops and an almost translucent "spead" of who knows what next to the so so scallops. How about some veggies, rice, potatoes or anything to not make the 5 scallops seem so lonely on the oversized empty plate. My wife had a whole fish which was better, but that did not make up for the rest of the meal. I think the chef and owners have their work cut out for them; I would return in the future to see if they improved as the space is really nice ambience wise and that bar works well. read more

We stumbled upon this place on our last day here in Cape May. We wanted some basic, fresh seafood dishes to enjoy for lunch. We have had several very expensive and very disappointing dinners. This was our best meal here. I ordered a 1/2 dozen oysters and the crab croquettes. The oysters were fresh, and delicious, with the perfect spicy cocktail sauce. The crab croquettes were loaded with crab meat, the way a high quality Maryland crab cake would be. My husband ordered clams on a half shell, which he said were also super fresh. But the highlight was his lobster roll. Best one I've had in ages. The lobster rolls are Connecticut style- warm, on a buttered, toasted roll, no mayo. This lobster roll was LOADED with lobster, zero filler, seasoned perfectly. We ate every bite of our food. Even their cocktails were great. I had a cucumber cocktail- so refreshing, and not too sweet. Our server was amazing and very attentive. Great job, Sea Salt. You do the basics and you do them perfectly. Throw this one back... Ambiance/Decor ***** Beautiful design with deep blue walls, wood floors and dark wood tables. Very dark and intimate feeling along the back banquette, other tables are a little close together and it is brighter near the windows. Outside deck for dining and inside there is a separate glass enclosed 14 person party room with a chandelier hanging above. Service ** This is were it gets a little strange. We called earlier in the day and made a reservation for an outdoor table for 8 at 6:00. We received a call at 5:00 saying they could only fit us inside due to earlier reservations. We sat in the aforementioned banquet which was very nice but what disturbed us was that there were plenty of empty outdoor tables all night. Initially our server was a bit of a pretentious jerk since we had kids and switched seats a few times but he settled down. There was a woman who I guess was the manager floating around the whole time who was very nice. We had some issues with the kids food, the kids issues not the restaurants, that the restaurant handled well. One kid didn't like his grilled cheese which we exchanged for pasta with butter while the other kid put cheese on her pasta with butter and didn't like it so we exchanged that for another pasta with butter. More on this later. Food ** This was a huge disappointment! Calamari appetizer was overly salty, Shrimp Tempura were soggy. I ordered the Red Snapper which oddly came with a Green Pea Risotto. The Risotto was revolting, whoever thought up that combo should be fired on the spot. The fish was completely overcooked and utterly tasteless as was the Whole Grilled Branzino that my table mates ordered. It was all edible but that was about it. Value * Appetizers are around $15 and entrees $30 which is normal but the killer was the kids pasta was $12!!!! To make matters worse they charged us for the items the kids didn't like and we returned. I probably wouldn't care as much if it wasn't $12 for a kids pasta which was more than the $9 grilled cheese. Overall ** They have either forgotten they are in family friendly Cape May or they don't want kids in their restaurant. Let me just start off by saying that I should know better than to order a steak at a seafood restaurant. My fault. The red wine reduction was phenomenal. Really. The steak, well...not so much. A strip steak cooked to medium should have been super tender and while this was flavorful, it just wasn't prime steak tender. My husband's snapper with green pea and parmesan risotto was sublime. I just wish the fish itself had a sauce as snapper lends itself well to sauces. We shared a crispy pork belly and arugula salad which was wonderful. The dressing was just enough. Not too heavy. Perfect. As is the restaurant itself. Design and decor are somehow comforting and quiet. Our sever was attentive without being overbearing. I'm not a big dessert person but my husband is so when our server recommended the house made ice cream, we just had to. Please, I don't even eat sweets but I found myself spoon fighting for the chocolate and the burnt honey. This stuff is unlike any, and I mean any, ice cream you've ever had. Wonderful experience. From the first bite to the last, this was one of the most enjoyable meals we've ever had at a Cape May eatery. I had the scallops and my wife had halibut. For dessert we had mocha cheese cake and my wife had the strawberries and cream napoleon. We asked to sit outside to enjoy the ocean view. Great ambience. Noise level isn't too loud. A jazz band played inside. Staff is friendly and helpful. The only issue (knocked off a star for this) we had was that my wife ordered coffee with dessert, but never received it. The waiter explained that the coffee was served with a french press and they didn't have enough because everyone ordered dessert at the same time. Seriously? I had the grilled octopus, tender but lacking flavor in itself. The onion and caper garnish perked it up a bit. My grilled whole branzino with an asparagus garnish was decent, if a bit dry. Five minutes less grill time would have made it great. It is their specialty. The roasted Yukon gold potato side was cooked nicely, but lacking real flavor. We waited 15 minutes without anyone acknowledging us. Tables around us were being attended to. We felt like we were invisible. After hailing down a waitress asking if someone was serving our area, a young woman came to the table and asked "what do you want for our entree's?". The appetizers we'd previously planned on ordering we'd cancelled and went right to her request for entrée's. My dinner of grilled salmon with asparagus and risotto was a humongous disappointment. I was looking forward to creamy risotto but ended up with a mortar like paste and overdone salmon. The other diners meals were ok except that the baked potato came without butter or sour cream. We came in from the other way and had to figure out how to be seated. A short look around revealed our mistake. Once seated, the wait staff was prompt and friendly. Food was a little pricey, but fairly good. I don't typically care for the potatoes that come with most breakfasts, I consider them throw away items.
