Other than being overheated inside on a mildly cold day, this was a great place to have lunch after hiking Trinidad Head. The chowder was good, as was the service. My partner had a big shrimp Louie salad, and it was tasty as well. They had fun coffee mugs for sale as souvenirs, too, so that was fun. I also got a hat, for good measure. Would always recommend this, although again, turn down the heat, folks! Even if it was 30 degrees outside, room temp (68-72) is good enough. Doesn't look like a restaurant but locals seem to like it and come here so we thought we'd try it out plus it had a great view of the Trinidad pier and ocean. As we walked in, instantly noticed how stuffy it was. But we were seated at the front of the restaurant near the entrance and the door was open so we got a nice view without the stuffiness. I then noticed all the flies flying around. They became annoying right away and then worse once our food arrived. Service was good but food and prices made it not worth it. My grilled cheese with shrimp was tasteless. The shrimp were tiny and tasted like they were frozen. Should have just ordered plain grill cheese. My husband ordered the mushroom burger (he was smart) and he said it was alright. The clam chowder was ok but nothing else was worth eating there. Not even the view. Very disappointing. We went there for lunch and had a wonderful experience. The restaurant is small but very quaint, we got booth seating right by the window overlooking the ocean. The service was very friendly and quick. They have a nice selection of craft beer and wines. We had calamari for an appetizer followed by the cod sandwich and fish n chips. I grew up visiting Trinidad every year growing up and remember it fondly, and so now having children of my own I had to bring them here to check it out. We had the Hot Chocolate, Clam Chowder, and split a full order of Fish and Chips. The Hot Chocolate was great and they gave a generous amount of Whipped Cream on the top. It's probably unfair that we drove down the 101 from Oregon the day before, but the Clam Chowder and Fish and Chips just didn't meet the expectations on flavor. I would say the Clam Chowder was freshly made and cooked well, just lacking a little bit on flavor. The Fish and Chips smelled amazing, it's what drew us in from the pier, but the fish just lacked some flavor. It was breaded and cooked well though, and the beer battered fries were pretty good. I still recommend it though, but if compared to a larger coastal area like the northern Oregon coast it lacks some on flavor. The atmosphere was great and has some nice views, with hiking and the beach right there for activities. We walked from the beach parking and there was plenty of space. read more

Gorgeous views of the water with some great food options what's not to love. The chicken fried steak is the best I've had in the state, my girlfriend got the patty melt with Swiss and onions and it was very solid. It can get a bit cramped at times but well worth the food and the views. read more

Worth going even if just for the views. Bacon was the highlight. Sourdough pancakes were not good- very gummy. Waitress mentioned that their sourdough starter was really strong, and this was true, but they still need to find a way to add more flour/cook longer so it has a more pancake like consistency. Fruit pancakes should have the fruit cooked in them instead of frozen fruit set on top. Again, I would return but would opt for bacon and eggs instead of pancakes. Great view. Good service. Had fish and chips here about a month ago. Good but Nothing spectacular. The strawberry milkshake however, was the bomb! Had lunch here again a few days ago, side salad with added crab. The salad was nice sized with lots of fresh vegetables and fresh crisp lettuce ( not romaine or iceberg or even spring mix but seemed to be garden grown green leaf?) with a nice sized portion of lumps of fresh Dungeness crab meat atop. Seafood, potato, or carrot chowder? Coming back into town for our 23rd anniversary, we wanted to retrace our steps & visit the places that brought us together those years ago. I remembered the Seascape restaurant being the place to stop in to get the freshest seafood around northern Humboldt county at the time! From the halibut to the dungeness crab anything as long as the dish you picked had some kind of seafood with, or in it it was almost a guarantee it would be fresh and delicious. Until yesterday I had known these things to be true, and had told people about Seascape anywhere I had been in our travels the same. Sitting down after waiting for our table for some lunch the waitress handed us our menus as we I went searching for my dish. Most of the time a tried and true house soup could tell what & how the restaurant had been doing sense the last weeks, months or years sense a last visit. With that thought I went for the house clam chowder. After making our orders I waited for what seemed like hours with egar anticipation for some of the very best bowl of chowder I could remember or recommend. After I had noticed that we had been seated at the last turn of the restaurant our dishes were brought out in a very timely manner of what was only minutes, we thanked the waitress and took our looks, said our prayers and started to dive in! I egarly searched for anykind of a clam, mussel, or any kind of seafood that the chef might have put into the soup that day only to find rather large chunks of sliced carrots?! Pushing the carrots aside I went in for a small bite and asked my bride to taste as well. She had said to me, "it's good but why did you get potato instead of the clam chowder?" I had known them that I needed to search for any kind of meat to see if we could squeeze some kind of taste of the sea only feet away. Not finding much in the sea of white and orange I had asked for my waitress from another waitress who did not act like she had the time to deal with our request but would do her best if she had time. After some time fondling my soup I seen my waitress again and tried calling for her. As she made her way over I thought of all kinds of things to ask, because I had not seen any potato, or cheese chowder on the menu. After just asking the type of chowder she replied with " This is clam chowder and I went to the bottom and mixed it well, I don't know what to tell you." I had though that was a very odd answer as she looked at me stirring the bowl and trying to show her, she would walk off with not another word. So with that my wife had finished her meal and we would politely pay for & head out the door only to mention to the host that did not look a day over 19 that the chowder needed to be checked because there was very little to almost no seafood in it, but only carrots and what looked to be cubed potatoes. It was because most of the staff looked to be very young that I did not ask for another dish, that there may have been too much of a hassle and they may have not gotten the replacement dish right either. This place is terrible. I hadn't been in two decades because...it was bad...but thought I'd give it a shot. Alas. Some things never change. All four of us were equally amazed at how flavorless and terrible our respective breakfasts were. Eggs weren't real, hash-browns were a flaccid mess, sourdough pancakes were literally sour and flavorless, gravy had no salt, and the coffee was awful and watery. Ffs put some grounds in your coffee maker --it's 2025 and nothing will turn off anyone under 50 like bad coffee. And the meal took 45 minutes to arrive. read more

We rented the house above this restaurant and I walked down here every day for breakfast. Super good every time. The staff is friendly and keep your coffee cup full. Coffee is super good also.The view of the pier is great. There is a seagul nest with 2 baby birds and the parents are taking turns feeding them little fish. Grant the pier manager was very kind to me a loaned me a set up fishing pole and told me where to fish off the pier. The Seascape just recently started serving dinner again after several years of 8:00 to 4:00 hours, lucky for us because the Larrupin was booked. I have eaten dinner at the Seascape years ago and the food was great as well as the service. The service is still excellent but the food needs a little tweaking. Wife got a patty melt, she liked it but IZ took a bite and did not like the strong flavor of the burger meat. I got the fried shrimp platter and made it a combo with scallops. The side vege was peas, peas? Bland, no seasoning and just plain wrong. The baked potato's were great and they bring you the fixings on the side so you can make it the way you like it. The shrimp was great, flavorful, fresh and juicy, but the scallops were nothing but texture, no flavor at all. Taking my sister to a local seafood restaurant in Trinidad, we hit the Seascape. My wife and I enjoy seafood and this seemed to be the best choice. Our wait was short. We were seated and gazed at all of the menu options. I tired the scrambled eggs with clam chowder (I would have not thought of the as a good pairing). My sister has the Apple French toast with caramel drizzle. My wife has the Miss Phyllis (shrimp green onion omelet on top of a bed of potatoes). The food was great, served within 20 minutes. And, my eggs and chowder was fantastic, it was a fun surprise. The interior of the restaurant was clean and orderly, as was the bathroom. The worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. Nearly sent my partner to the hospital. When we got to the restaurant, we asked them what type of cooking oil they use in their fryer since much of their seafood was fried and my partner has allergies. Specifically, we asked whether there was soy in the oil. At first, the hostess told us yes without checking. We asked them to double check with the kitchen to be sure since often oils will be branded as "vegetable" but contain soy. They went back to ask and came back and confirmed that it was soy free so we sat down and ordered a very overpriced meal, including an appetizer of fried clams. After getting the clams and eating them, the hostess/waitress walks over smiling saying she made a mistake and the oil had soy. She did not charge us for the clams but still made us pay for the rest of the meal. My partner got very sick, had to take multiple Benadryl, and did not fully recover for a couple days. I visited Seascape Restaurant for breakfast one morning. I was promptly seated by the hostess. I looked over the menu and ordered the omelette stuffed with a cream cheese and smoked salmon mixture - served with crispy breakfast potatoes, well toasted and buttered English muffins (I ordered them extra crispy) and coffee. My food came out in short order. Everything was very good. And the service was attentive and outstanding. I had a nice view of the pier and the Pacific ocean from my table. So, why the 3 star rating you ask? It was waayyyyyy to warm and stuffy in this restaurant. It was very uncomfortable inside. I could not eat fast enough so that I could escape that sauna! The hostess asked me how my meal was when she was ringing me out - I told her the food and service was good - but the temperature inside the restaurant was very uncomfortable. My first impression of this place after one visit is that people don't come here for the food. Seascape is always steadily busy so I would have thought the food was something to rave about, but not much stands out about this place other than it's location right on the water. As previous reviews have stated, the food is on the borderline between average and good probably depending on the dish you order. I got the shrimp fry and the shrimp tasted like it came prepackaged and frozen. It wasn't served hot either, but on the bright side the fries were pretty good (probably the best part of my order). Again nothing really stands out. We were greeted by an unfriendly hostess, an even unfriendlier person who brought us our drinks and refilled our waters. There were flies inside the restaurant. The restrooms smelled like they need a really good cleaning. But hey, we sat next to the a window with a view of the water so that upped the experience a little. Fantastic breakfast. Cute rustic building nestled right on a picturesque cove. Really beautiful spot that feels secluded between large rocky out croppings jutting into the ocean and protecting the cove. Waitress recommended sourdough blackberry pancakes that came with an egg and potatoes. Everything was cooked just perfectly, but the pancakes stood out: hot, soft inside, slightly crisp at the edge, topped with berries and more berries inside the pancakes. A few years ago it changed hands and had a rough patch, but now it right back on top. I had, of all things, eggs with clams chowder on top. I know, it sounds weird, but if you like clam chowder, you're going to love this. I had just one complaint and that was that they were just a bit over zealous with the green onions. This was some of the WORST seafood that I've everrrr....seriously. Everything was bland and totally UN-fresh. It definitely tasted frozen. I added salt, pepper, butter, lemon, and green onions... even used their tarter and cocktail sauce which shouldn't even be needed if the seafood is poached in sauce and is actually good. NONE of it helped it taste better... not a dayum thang! Ya girl struggled to eat this dish, especially the fish. I was starting to contemplate if it was really even fish after a while. This meal was supposed to come with "vegetables"... which I guess were supposed to be the peas topped with almonds and some type of cream sauce??? What in GAWD'S name???! The best thing on this plate... WAS the plate! Well, the baked potato wasn't bad but um... how much effort does it take to bake a damn potato? The ladies running the front of the house were smiling, friendly and did an excellent job keeping the mugs topped off. The breakfast was good, traditional fare. Omelet had a good amount of fresh veggies, ham steak was fresh & food came out hot. This wasn't a fancy place but with the gas fireplace going on a stormy morning, it gave off the vibe that you've dropped by Grandma's for a bite to eat and hear what's going on with the neighbors. Shrimp and crab Louie was served is some godly bowl to make it look appealing but just made it look tacky. $40 for the salad with a measly 4 pieces of crab and a bunch of tiny salad shrimp.
