We came here for dinner on a Friday evening. The place was packed but we were seated quickly. They had a huge range of foods for a buffet. From Mongolian/brazilian style grill, baos, dumplings, sushi bar, seafood, chinese, deserts l and they even had a chocolate fondue fountain! Everything tasted really good and pretty fresh! Note: You get what you pay. With that being said, the food is really good for an Asian buffet. They have hot AND cold crab legs. I had the hot ones, and they were just right! Didn't taste salty at all (the last few times at casinos have tasted pretty salty). They have Mongolian, pho AND udon! I'll definitely be going back for the food. However the service is horrible. They need more busser/servers. It took people forever to get drink refills, even after calling for someone. They also got the drink wrong. Not really worth it :/ it was definitely not worth 31+dollars for person. While place was clean and all the food itself was not as tasteful as it would appear. Crab legs wear ether salty, or cold. It was ok. 1/5 The crab legs were not fresh at all. They tasted somewhat of old and a bit not fresh taste somewhat rotten. Yes I know I didn't want to think that but when food sits out and from a business stand point you try to maximize your cost, well there you go. I took one two bites and was like no thank you. The rest of the food was not very appealing, the friend coconut shrimp was good but anything fried will always be good no surprise there. The sushi was ok, I guess I'm a little spoiled with high end sushi but even mitsuwas sushi was better. The scallop or ahi poke was ok but they give you like 4 tiny pieces. The tapenyaki was hood of course it was cooked fresh. The desserts were pretty good, the crembrulee was my favorite next to the seasame seed taro balls. Other than that I wouldn't go back. Was it worth the money? Ehh I beg to differ. I didn't try much if the other food it didn't look too appetizing. I enjoy the great selection, but am always disappointed with the crab legs. Whether they're hot or cold the quality is not there. Very small with lots of air in the legs. Also the crabs that they serve aren't necessarily "clean" crabs. Which means the outer shell is blemished like they're diseased and not the healthiest. The hot oysters were unfortunately not cleaned properly. Also known as purging. There was sand and rocks in them. Paying the dinner price, I would expect better quality. I haven't been here since they've re-opened. Don't know if it's the same management/ownership, but they definitely vamped it up. The venue is gorgeous & the set-up, I'd say, is a lot better. The buffet lines are around the room rather than in rows. Unfortunately though, the food doesn't match the aesthetics of this restaurant. The pho tastes microwaveable & the food, in general, is overflowing with MSG. I did appreciate the fact that they cut up the dessert into small pieces, I always hate when buffets give you a full slice of cake, knowing damn well more than half the people are wasteful & just take one bite. This restaurant used to be "East Buffet" which is now Seaside buffet! This place has definitely improved and is one of my top favorite buffets in San Diego. The price is competitive with the selection of food!They do have crab legs, fresh raw oysters, variety of sushi, sashimi. Hot food they have a wide variety. They also have a pho bar and a fresh noodle bar similar to Mongolian bbq. Dessert wise they have a few items my favorite is the s'mores! ! This place is good for big family parties! I used to love this place since it originally was called the East Buffet. They remodeled and it looks beautiful inside now. The problem is that the food has gone downhill. Seems like they are trying to make more money with cheaper ingredients. The sushi bar really was awful. There used to be sushi chefs there but now an older lady took care of it and the sushi looked very amateurish and not tasty at all. The desserts were bad too. First off, I am not a fan of some Chinese buffets. I question the cleanliness of some of these restaurants, which is why I do not eat any raw seafood (sushi). Seaside was no exception. My brother is in the process of moving, so for my 2 year old niece's b-day, they decide to have everyone come here for lunch. Our party was 20-30 people. Only because it was my niece's bday did I come. First off, it smelled of cleaning solution in the food area. As if they just cleaned the floor right before opening with the food out. There is a soup station and I went there to get noodle soup. The guy making the soup was very rude. When I asked for soup he initially ignored me and kept making Peking duck sandwiches to get ready. I asked again and he said wait as he continued to make sandwiches for people coming way after me, and there was no line. People would walk up and he would make their sandwiches even though I had already been waiting for some time. Apparently for kids they charge based on height. When I took my 2 yr old neice to get cotton candy, the server asked if my neice could stand against the wall so they could compare her to a mark on the wall. Really?!? I thought it was absolutely rude to measure a 2 yr old height. Quality of food was definitely not there. The little that I did have, I did not like. I will not be back. read more

The restaurant itself is beautiful. The food is placed along the sides, which gives the restaurant a nice feel of openness. The variety in the food is splendid. They range from the typical dishes to more exotic ones, like squid. There's something here for everyone, and that something is delicious as well. Wait what?! Sounds kinda awesome, but then you realize it's just one of their cooks shoving a giant metal fencing sword through a random meat of their choice and deeming it "Brazilian BBQ". No. Just No. It was really a huge let down. The price has also went up since the last name change, mainly due to the "Seaside" moniker. $15.88 for lunch and $18.88 for dinner! For these prices I really do expect much better food to be put out, but everything was just awfully seasoned. I feel like the chefs in the back have no spices labeled, and they just use random seasonings and hope it turns out okay. My family and I came out here, party of 11, to celebrate the October birthdays in my family. I've never heard of this buffet, but I'm glad I came along. They have seafood, desserts, sushi, hot plates, bbq grill, and soups/noodles. This is probably one of the better buffets I've been to. I was feeling the sushi bar, 'cause they had a variety of things and hand rolls made to order. Their hot plates were definitely more asian-inspired dishes, a few were hit or miss. Their dim sum wasn't great and just looked overcooked and dry. But everything else was pretty good. I loved the soups, sushi bar, and the chocolate fountain for my strawberries. I just don't like how the tables are set up. Walkways are too narrow, but it's they're presentation overall is pretty nice. read more

Everything here is under seasoned. I mean holy christ, even the orange chicken is under seasoned. How do you under season orange chicken? It's basically suppose to be sodium up the butt. They referred to it as pho but the broth was darker than your typical pho joint. Almost Top Ramen Beef packet brown. Maybe it was good because they used Top Ramen seasoning, which is salty AF, probably the only seasoned thing that touched my tongue during my meal. They also had a dim sum & dumplings, I regret not trying them because they looked good., although I'm pretty confident they weren't. Our bill was $41 for 2 people. If we were on the East Coast or PNW, $41 would be more than enough to buy Chinise take-out for 5 people. So with that said, this buffet isn't garbage. Close, but not yet. This may be a biased review. First off, when it was East Buffet I gave it 1 star over all. Secondly, the dirtiest and most unsanitary people eat here! Ok so as with any buffet, I go to the restroom and wash my hands. While I'm in there, three grown men use the urinal and just walk out without washing their hands...and I go back out and see these guys carrying on like normal touching and handling the same serving utensils as everyone in there are using. I was just so disgusted and I wasn't really that hungry after that. BUT for price I paid I was at least going to get my money's worth. I tell everyone in my party to use a napkin to hold the serving utensils and why. The food wasn't good. The fried rice tasted old, the shrimp was over cooked, the Kung pao chicken tasted doughy, long story short...the only thing that tasted good was the crab legs but since there were so many inconsiderate people there, when the fresh steamed crab was brought the first person there would overload his plate not leaving much for anyone else. Lastly, there were certain areas where there was a heavy Raid smell. I've been here twice Once for dinner and lunch Same server every time she was quick and professional, however the more time my friend and I spent there the more unwelcome I felt and I felt the staff was trying to rush us out. I was in the middle of my second plate when they gave us our check. Neither my friend or I were loud and kept to ourselves so I don't know what the problem was. This place is good for large groups, they DO have a bar! I barely see it used, which usually I don't order from if no one orders a drink the entire time I sit there & enjoy my 3 meals. LOL If you plan on going, go before the usual rushes, I notice it isnt as busy around 5-6 So my family usually goes around there & they don't take reservations since its a first come first serve basis.
